Had the fish, eggplant and chicken. They all taste good! You can top up $1 for a drink or a soup. There was a queue when I was there at 11am+. Will definitely go back!
This is probably the cheapest and best place to have lunch in Chinatown! You can have 3 selections with rice. They have prawn omelette, salt and pepper fish or chicken and many beef and vegetable dishes definitely great if your on a budget.

Situated on the first floor of market city shopping centre, near the butcher and Thai Kee supermarket. This fast food Taiwanese eating kiosk has managed to attract a real fanfare, as there is always a line.
Prompt, no frills service, just like the food they serve.
The food are precooked which sits under amber lighting to keep the food warm. The food turn over is quite high. So it is safe to say that they food wouldn't have been sitting there all day long.
So how it all works is:
All the food that gets served comes in take away containers and you pick which lunch box size you would like. The first person take your order and just like a factory assembly line, the container just gets passed along. One person puts in the mains dishes that are being ordered into the container, the last person packs and calls or your order number. It's kind of fascinating to watch, it's just like clock work. So, the small is rice and one dish, medium is rice and two dishes, and large is what you see in the picture. Rice with three dishes of your choice. You can buy their own brewed iced tea for an extra $1. (Just a side note: it might be worth your while, after eating all that food, the thirst will get to you)
Essentially, you can fill your lunch or dinner belly for as little as $7.50, and tasty as well! You can also order side dishes to.go with your main. Seeing that i have no idea what they are, I thought I would give this one a miss.
They vary their dishes on the day of trade, which is a good idea. I can assume people would want some variety. However, what seems to always around is their fried chicken! They do make some mean fried chicken. The line might be long but you're never waiting for too long, and it's worth the wait for a cheap and satisfying feed.
So many '3 choices with rice' places in Sydney but for me the best of them is the takeaway A Taste of Cho.
They have the best choices, including many you don't see anywhere else. Depending on the day there might be:
- shellfish such as basic clams or chilli basil crab. not many places you can get 2 shellfish dishes with rice for under $10
- stewed 5-spice pork belly with bamboo shoots - divine, melts in your mouth, this takes so long to make & amazing to buy it for $4 !
- good vegetarian options, i was just there & they had 5 vege dishes incl. the delectable fried eggplant
- better than average looking stirfried meat-veg combos
- fried chicken pieces are usually there, taiwanese style with fried basil
Everything looks appetising and freshly cooked which it is, since they're so popular.
Flexible options - 2 or 3 dishes with rice, or small $4 /large $9 without rice, it's common to see people buying several of these to take home for a family dinner. As well as being great food it's so cheap, most takeaway places are nearly $10 for just one thing with rice.
Can also get a mix-n-match set with either chicken or pork fillet. Tried these tonight, chicken was OK but pork a bit dry & bland, better off sticking with the pre-cooked that you can see. The dish compartments look small but they fit a lot into them!
There's always a line outside Taste of Cho in Market City and for a good reason, it's quick, cheap and tasty. Their rice with two choices is delicious and for an extra $1.00 you can get either soup or iced tea (green or black). The soup is perfect for winter and the iced tea is so refreshing during summer. They also do a really good Taiwanese braised pork with rice - a classic dish from Taiwan and cooked really nicely. Their cold dishes including jellyfish is super good too!
The best take away for me! Wohooo really like almost all of their dishes, especially the taiwanese fried chicken. They sell takeaway dish and bento box. $9.5 for bento box and $4.5 for small size dish, $9 for the large one. The best choice if you really lazy to cook on weekdays. Really worth it. Sometimes they sell fried crab as well and it's so delicious. Don't have so many pics for their foods but everyone should try! Located at market city in front of thai kee supermarket!

You know which one I'm talking about. There's a food kiosk in Market City that always has a queue of people twenty-deep no matter what time of day. There's a good reason. Taste of Cho doesn't just cater for homesick Taiwanese uni students. It's freshly cooked. And cheap. Constant queue at Taste of Cho It's often hard to get a look at the window of available options for the day through the mass of people lined up in front. Dishes vary each day, and I've noticed that some don't make an appearance until late lunch time - cereal prawns, I'm looking at you. Frying chicken in the onsite kitchen There's an impressively large kitchen onsite, equipped with deep fryers and several wok burners. You can spy on the kitchen staff as you wait. Canteen-style service Join the queue and try to work out what you want to order before the far-too-efficient staff have a chance to intimidate you and you end up pointing wildly at the closest item in a panic. Most people order a meal box with rice (two choices for $7.50, three choices for $9.50) or you can skip the rice and get the dishes on their own. Cold marinated ox tongue Deciding what to have is the hardest part. There's a wide range of hot food - Taiwanese fried chicken , three cup chicken , braised pork belly and more - as well as all kinds of cold cut meats dressed with chilli and vinegar. Pescetarians get a look-in with prawn omelettes and spicy fish cutlets , and vegetarians always get a good selection of fried gluten options, vegetables and tofu . Fried anchovies with chilli $2 for a small box Fried gluten with mushrooms
Good value. Great value for money and closest to authentic Taiwanese food around. Guess that's why there is always a long queue for lunch and dinner.
Pork n mushroom, fried chicken, fried fish, sweet sour pork are my fav here. Dont forget add a dollar for black tea!
Such homey tastes, come here for some Taiwanese 家常菜. Very simple and tasty, winter melon tea slightly too sweet. Highly recommend the three cup chicken and also the eggplant
Pleasantly fast and quick service.
Food is displayed in the bain-marie.
I ordered the 2 dishes with rice served with Green Ice tea/ Black Ice tea. Optional if you don’t want the drink, but I highly recommend the Green Ice tea!
Staff were very efficient and welcoming.
The quality and taste are consistently (so) good, love this place. It is actually authentic aswell, tastes like you traveled to taiwan for a home cooked meal, would 100% recommend :)
Usually long queue during peak lunch hours but generally good price. 2 choice 9.5 and 3 choices $11.5. Additional $1 with drink. Not impressed by the taste as a Chinese myself but given the convenience and price, it’s not bad at all. Will come back
My favourite Taiwanese food around central station! Really delicious and authentic 😋
Authentic and good quality Taiwanese takeaway food, at an affordable price. A short wait but friendly and efficient service.
Cheap and yummy.
Recommend; braised pork mince rice. Eggplants.
