Great coffee, amazing mushroom toasty and very friendly service.
It is on the expensive side for a cafe. But I do enjoy going there on the way to the office.
Had the New York Style bagel with wattle macadamia peanut butter - slightly too toasted for my liking as I prefer my bagels more chewy than crunchy but the nut butter was very rich and smooth. Fig and cranberry sourdough toast, thrice as good as regular raisin toast, because - figs and sourdough! Coffee was great as always and absolutely love the marble and golden detailing!
Regiment is a more modern and fancier cafe located near the Wynyard train station and bus station. Menu items include a lobster roll and bagels and of course coffee. It was bustling with people coming in and out of the space, with the service being very quick.
I ordered a small soy latte and that was already $4 as soy milk was charged at an extra $0.50. When they say small, they do mean small. I don’t drink a lot of coffee in one go so it was perfect for me. The price may be expensive for many but the coffee was worth it for me. It tasted quite close to the best coffee I’ve ever had which was at the Higher Ground Cafe in Melbourne as I enjoy my coffee on the smoother and little bit sweeter side. I think I might have found my favourite coffee place in Sydney. Will be back to try their bagels and breakfast menu items.
Super bustling spot in the city right off George St so expect crowds! Got lucky enough to get a seated spot inside - I would describe it as squishy but inviting!
Overa service was good and the coffee and food was fantastic! We had the mushroom on sourdough and breakfast bowl (actually had a mini-mouth drop moment when it came out because the bowl was so big but I finished all of it which goes to say how good the food is!) The coffee was perfect!
A bustling cafe in the city, more suitable for takeaway due to the extremely limited seating. We enjoyed our quick breakfast with croissant and toast from Brickfields. Bonus points for Pepe Saya butter and a unique wattle macadamia peanut butter. The cauliflower salad was also tasty and healthy lunch. Coffee was ace - rich, smooth and full bodied. Having said that, I think they really need to improve crowd control (no clear indication of where the order and pickup spots are for takeaway; be prepared to get ignored if you want to sit in) and friendlier service wouldn't hurt either. Luckily I like the food and coffee enough to overlook this.
The Cheesy Charlatan
+3.5
The Spot: great location, huge glass windows made for a very elegant and modern atmosphere with plenty of natural lighting. But the seating was a bit perilous - minimal seating capacity is fine for a slick little cafe, but the three of us were seating around this dinner plate of a table that could only fit our meals or our table water and coffees, separately. Thankfully there was a nice little windowsill to store our drinks while we ate. The seats were also prone to tipping.
The Service: nothing out of the ordinary for a small but busy cafe, no complaints!
The Food: We ordered the soba noodle bowl, the roasted cauliflower bowl and the lobster roll. Very delicate treatment of beautiful, fresh ingredients. They paid attention to textures and presentation, but I think the subtlety of the flavours got a bit lost about halfway through and the meal became a little one-note. My friend's first reaction was that it tasted very "healthy" - take that as you may; I think that's not a bad thing at all if that's what you're looking for. The lobster roll was probably the most comfort-food of the spectrum and it was very nice.
The Drink: great coffee. My friend had the iced coffee and it didn't come with cream or ice cream or anything offensive, praise be.
Overall, a very nice lunch at a very nice cafe. I'm optimistic about this place for some reason - I don't think it'll take long to get their flavour balance just right and thus I'm keen to come back again. Definitely a me and my book/one friend if I'm generous kind of place.
Small cosy cafe that was busy and buzzing with lots of workers looking for the caffeine fix. As well coffees and other hot beverages on offer they also sell other breakfast items in the glass cabinet and made to order meals.
Originally attracted here by the lure of butterbings I had sighted in another post. I wanted one of each (salted caramel, vanilla bean, and nutella) but ended up with 2 nutella and a salted caramel. This was fine as they tasted really good nonetheless! I also had a Mocha to go and tasted nice but slightly smaller cup than what I’m used to for a large. Service was quite good.
Love their coffee here. Such a good area to just sit and watch the morning rush while having a cup of coffee. Staff were accommodating to our toddler who was allergic to eggs and nuts. Will go back here for sure.
In Short: Regiment CBD is one of Sydney’s best looking cafes, with a strong focus on coffee and supporting cast of delicious food. A standout was their crispy smoked pork belly. The flat white and cappuccinos are consistently brilliant.
Just occasionally a café opens, and there’s an instant magnetism that draws hordes of coffee lovers from all over the city to its digs. One of the shining examples of that magnetism has been the opening of Regiment. It really has captured the imagination of city folk and is one is of the coolest spots in the city. If you think you can waltz in at 10:30am and sneak a cheeky coffee alone, think again, as the traffic in and out is persistent. The fit-out is sublime with brass accents, marble and blondish hues of the Byron blackbutt. I adore the the cute little circular share tables that wrap around the front of the café It is intimate, popular, and there’s nothing like humans that instantly attract other humans to come check out what’s going on. What’s good then? Well, everything really!
A cute little corner cafe in the CBD with prompt, friendly service, a healthy, beautiful sounding menu & delectable treats on display. Seating is a little restricted with very small tables which makes it hard to put all the beautiful plates of food on. The bowls for lunch look and taste great and are healthy and nourishing. All are vegetarian and you can choose a protein to be added. The coffees and tumeric lattes look beautiful with a cinnamon quill on top of the tumeric latte. There are also takeaway options available and the bagles & sweets all sound & look delicious. Would love to try breakfast next time!
Quality fitout and coffee + friendly staff.
All the makings of a great cafe. The espresso coffee was spot on, over tones of coco at the end maybe.
Highly recommend.
I tried the Smashed avo, whey rye, slow eggs, goats curd, beetroot, yuzu sesame. It was delicious. A great combination of food and presented well. I wanted to give it a 5 but felt the description was a bit misleading. The avocado isn't 'smashed' at all - it's cut up into pieces, and covered in the yuzu sesame seeds. But overall, a great dish and I'll be having it again!
This is a new cafe in the hood. Just tried their flat white and it was really really good. Always good to have new cafes with excellent coffee. Looking forward to try their food menu. Will go back soon.
It's the second day of opening and these guys seem to know what they're doing. Love the look of the place that occupies a corner location in a high pedestrian traffic area. Cappuccino ($3.50) using Five Senses Coffee Dark Horse Blend is made well with a nice dark roast flavour and quite light on froth. Ham & Cheese Croissant ($8) is small but tasty using a croissant from Breadfern. Seating and tables are on the small side suitable for a quick coffee or simple bite to eat. Service was friendly and keen for efficiency. Table water brought promptly when dining in. I'm curious to try the lobster roll on the lunch board menu as I'm always looking for the best one in Sydney. Those oversized cookies on display will be sure to tempt an epic sugar kick to share.
My favorite breakfast and coffee spot in Sydney so far!
Their flat white and Mocha are both delicious , especially the mocha, very good balance between espresso and chocolate, not too sweet and high quality!
The avo smash is delicious too! I love how much thoughts the chef put into the dish. They put the macerated lemon and sesame seeds into the dish which are very interesting. The poached egg are perfectly made. Great job!
Excellent coffee and delicious pastries and bagels. A must try if you’re in the CBD and looking for a caffeine fix, brunch or lunch. Seating is tight but turns over pretty quickly.
Chicken bagel was a great balance of flavours and textures, and perfectly toasted. Cold brew was excellent and a very generous serve. Obviously one goes to a cafe for food - and theirs was superb. But the ordering system gave me pause.
The QR code for menu and payment worked well, but what I cannot for the life of me accept is why the required information included my full name, email address and phone number. These are not necessary pieces of information for anyone to have in a transaction for me to eat breakfast. This sort of unnecessary data collection may seem harmless but you have to wonder - what is done with this data? Who collects it? Why? How do they use it? Why do we accept this slow creep of information collection as part of daily life? A philosophical point for something as simple as a cafe review perhaps. Thankfully, a fake name, email and phone number was enough to get through this unnecessary barrier in the way of food.
Nice weather for al-Fresco seatng. Nice small cafe with limited seating and service is good from the young crew.. The poke bowl was full of flavor and the hot chocolate was nice to keep warm
The wagyu bagel was fantastic. The kimchi inside the bagel was not like the traditional Korean kimchi. It was not that sour.
I ordered a flat white n a long black. Both were good.
The guy at the counter was so friendly. Great service.
Although the internal area of the shop was a bit small, the whole vibe of the shop was great.
Unfortunately they don’t make lobster rolls for lunch no more.
Amazing cafe, great coffee and the food is the best. The ham and cheese croissant is divine, fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, cheese on top is like seared in, so good. Service is also friendly and fast. Highly recommend
Food and coffee were excellent - we had a minor issue with the ordering system and the manager went above and beyond to fix it, really lovely team.
Regiment Coffee didn’t disappoint. Friendly and relax place for a nice coffee. Ice Caffè Latte and my Ice Decaf Soy Latte
