Very good restaurant, quality food, served quickly and really good prices. What more the ask for?
Great place for beer and delicious dumplings. Very good atmosphere and service. Fast and fresh. Well priced, highly recommend.
I’ve been here 4 times. For anyone who has spent much time in The Mid-Levels in Hong Kong, this is about as close as you get on the east side of George St in Sydney. Great Bao’s, shallot dumplings, pork buns, Asahi Black on tap?!? The best thing is their chilli sauce, which on my most recent visit the hosts gave us some small take aways. Great service - great prices too. Well worth a visit
Funky little dumpling shop with good menu options. The steamed pork and vegetable buns felt like they were just the frozen ones that were steamed, but the dumplings were good, and the crispy pork belly bao was really nice. Little bit on the pricey side ,but still quite good
Dumpling portion is large. Cool vibe with a delish menu. Highly recommend! On the most perfect street in Darlinghurst, Stanley Street. A must try!
Been there several times and have always really enjoyed the atmosphere and service, as well as the food. Looking forward to coming back here after a great date night with my boyfriend!
This place is awesome.
We went with a group of ten people for a birthday and we had so much fun!!
Angelo, Janet and all the staff are so accommodating and we felt looked after the whole night. The dumplings are really good, we especially loved the pan fried pork/cabbage and also the scallop/prawn har gow and of course the duck rolls!! I had the ginger cider but the beer drinkers liked those too.
Great atmosphere for a fun night and highly recommended

While it’s not likely to win any awards, the second outlet for Dumplings & Beer in Stanley Street, East Sydney, is a good spot for a fast, no-frills feed. Decorated with red fabric lights and a wall-sized dragon mural, and playing kung fu films with the sound off on one wall, the restaurant takes over street level in a two-storey terrace. Pull up a stool, or a seat on the red banquette, and on the newsprint-covered, lacquered tables you’ll find an order pad and a pencil. Go nuts, stuff is cheap for Darlinghurst, and serves are small enough to allow you to order a diverse dinner without much coin. Rendang Beef Slider ($9.90/2) offer up quite a passable long-strand beef rendang inside a fractionally soggy bao-style steamed bun. Obviously, as the name suggests, you should match your bao with beer. We try out their...
The decor of paper machee Asian newspapers on the tables and bar coupled with the warmth in music choice, fittings and both indoor and outdoor areas make this an inviting choice for a casual meet up.
The dumpling fillings are quite chunky with a selection chosen involving prawn, chives and scallops, and beef rendang sliders.
The somewhat narrow space is deceiving making it easy to accommodate tables of 10 or more and I imagine this a great choice for nearby workers.
In terms of the value they offer here I'm quite a fan, although some of the dumplings were slightly overcooked, the meaty fillings and great service more than made up for it.
Another obvious favorite on Stanley street!
good value dumplings for not being in Chinatown and they have a mix of both Shanghai and yumcha dumplings. Prawn gowgee dissapointing as it was not all prawn :/ duck wrap was excellent heaps of duck good value. Everything was good ate all we could along with 3 drinks each and was $40 each. Good vibe, pretty popular.
Bottom of the wine list says $5 corkage fee for bottles?? Isn’t that only supposed to apply for BYO??
It was pretty busy for a Thursday night, and we got a table easily but it took a while to get a menu. Pencil your order on a sheet of paper, cheap, no frills kinda place. We ordered the bao "a pork belly slider
with crackle. Extremely crackly crackle and very soft tasty buns. We also got some excellent pork buns with thick pieces of pork inside. The prawn gow gee were also excellent. Top food. The beer asahi black wasn't quite right though. A bit fizzy.
Love this place! Such a great concept. It was packed but we managed to nab a table last-minute. Dumplings are fresh and absolutely delicious. The beef sliders were all kinds of good. We had to remind them about one item that we'd ordered... But it was quickly rectified.
First went here for a work group lunch > was blown away. Food and service was awesome. The owner/manager recognized several of my co-workers. I enjoyed everything brought out including a few items that I had never tried before. So, how much did I enjoy it? I went back two more times during my time in Sydney and both times the staff recognized me. The third time, they (3 different folks) asked me what I liked about the place. They cared and wanted to know why. I will dream about this place. Until next time….
Bit expensive but so is every other place in the city. The dumplings were good though! I'd recommend it if you're just looking for a snack
As the name suggests, Dumplings and Beer is the perfect place to meet up with friends for these exact things. The little restaurant isn’t very noticeable from the street but once you are seated inside the staff are extremely helpful and quick to serve you. The dumplings and various food options on the menu are well priced and absolutely delicious. #letsguide
