I stopped by this small cafe on Ross Street for a coffee. They used Toby’s Estate. The service is very nice and I got a Mocha which was a lovely blend which was served with a mini cookie.
Green fish curry was next level authentic and super friendly boss. The cashier can’t understand english though so got my drink order wrong, it was still good though.
The coffee here is really good. I had scrambled eggs on toast. The relish and herbs go with it pretty well. Eggs were slightly overcooked but overall pretty good. Their all day toasties are very tempting. I will try them next time.
On this busy road right behind a bus stop is the entrance to this unassuming cafe. However the space is a lot larger then meets the eye with seating inside & on a higher level. As you walk in you are tempted by the delectable looking warm house baked muffins, scones and pretzel (savoury) croissants. The menu is interesting with lots of items that can be made vegan. There are influences from Asia to Mexico. I chose the sticky braisef eggplant bowl with scrambled eggs, sesame, coriander and chilli. Its so flavoursome and the eggplant melting in your mouth and paired surprisingly well with eggs. A humble dish that traditionally may be eaten rice is here made into a paleo version with eggs for protein. Then there is the quasadilla - well tossted thin and crispy tortillas encasing a slightly cheesy, well cooked bean mixture served with jalapeno & sour cream on the side for you to add at your own will. You can have this with the traditional guac or edamole - made from edamame beans which is lighter, less rich & more protein rich. A lovely selection of real tea & a great coffee together with relaxed friendly service made it an enjoyable experience.
The vegan brekkie burrito sparked my interest so was keen to visit when I had the chance. It was a great burrito, spicy (very spicy) and packed full of ingredients. Lovely little outdoor area for the doggos as well!
Great home made style food that’s too tempting not to leave without. Good vibe and nothing in comparison within walking distance. A good find.
In the interest of exploration, I chose the most interesting looking cafe for brunch I could on Zomato (and peaking at Google reviews too) and we tried this place on a Saturday morning. I expected a regular old hipster café, and that’s what it looks like with its cold drop coffee and delicious looking pastries at the counter. But we happened to try the breakfast bowls, and I loved the Asian influence. If they do just as well with their breakfast burritos, then this place is totally a winner.
If you've never had a chance to try Billy Kwong or Kylie Kwong's cooking from her various appearances at food markets well here's your chance because the food is similar - uncannily similar!
The long version is we humbly have a copy of a Kylie Kwongs cook book we've tried a few of the recipes. The eggplant and the brown rice bowl very much fit those flavours...it's almost like they took the eggplant and pork belly preparations/seasoning from there! So while its good food and something that breaks the norm...it isn't exactly our cup of tea but it's good enough that we'd recommend it but sparingly...
If you like South East Asian food/tastes but also want to enjoy it with a good cup of coffee...this place is for you!
People are usually aware of Glebe but not Forest Lodge, but they should because that is where this awesome cafe is located. This cafe has seating outside and inside and the service staff are very friendly and helpful.
I absolutely love the coffee which is strong and not too milky tasting. I had the Brown Rice Bowl with pork belly which was so soft and tender I will be coming back for this dish again. I also tried the zucchini and corn fritters which was also very flavoursome and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked.
Delicious and affordable breakfasts, lunches and cakes, great staff and perfect coffee. A cafe that everyone can feel at home in. Try the delectable cheese and homemade pickles sandwich - it leaves Cornersmith's to shame!
One of my favorite hole-in-the-wall cafes in Glebe. Incredible taste sensations, happy relaxed service. Would of scored 5 however a few too many flies hanging around however being organic & grassroots you can understand why.
My favorite cafe ever, the team there are the friendliest an the food is amazing! recommend the sticky soy eggplant bowl and quesadillas! Coffee is of the higher quality too
The ABC juice is absolutely awesome - sweet, tart and perfect consistency - really enjoyed that. The breakfast burrito however, was ok but didn't quite meet my expectations. Beans were under-seasoned, bacon was under-cooked and it wasn't presented very well. Didn't taste too bad, but not memorable.
Service though was very friendly and attentive.
These guys know what they're doing. My partner and I have been here a few times and agree that this place is the best cafe in Glebe (at least). It's got a really relaxed, comfortable vibe about it which, when paired with their great coffee, is all you could ask for on a lazy afternoon. The crème de la crème however is the food, the guys who seems to be behind the recipes are talented beyond belief! All dishes manage to balance deliciousness with healthiness and are surprisingly well priced given the quality of the ingredients and intelligence behind the dishes. All in all these guys are a must when you're cursing around the inner west, we guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Nice cafe in an off the beat location
We had a lovely breakfast here with coffee. The proprietors seem to really care about the food with several organic and house made items (relishes, jams etc) on the menu.
After disappointment that West Juliet was closed and another didnt serve hot food, we drove back via Glebe and found this gem in Forest Lodge. The pork belly burger hit the spot and coffee acceptable.
And a decent run at a fresh fruit juice.
Try this one out.
Funtabulous. Lively, friendly and fun loving vibe, with innovative interesting food. And that's interesting in a good way, not a near miss way. Their pretzel croissants are smashing, as are their healthy but delicious drink combos. The zucchini and corn fritters were tasty and enjoyable, despite not being evenly cooked, and the accompanying spring vegetables were really really good. Would come back here in a heartbeat.
Quirky cafe off the beaten path. Delicious food and great coffee. Love the open store front. Great music and cards to play with at tables. Friendly staff.
Attentive staff and nice coffee. We ordered Breakkie burrito with bacon and Baked Eggs, and both dishes were well sized. Baked eggs were flavoursome and the breakkie burrito was filled with avocado and baked beans.
I was really excited to find Nutella milkshake on the menu. It was there to fulfill my inner child... But it was kinda disappointing. Was expecting something great coming out of something magical but it turned out alittle too diluted lacking Nutella. The coffee was one of a kind with a unique aftertaste. Chai latte was a letdown with overpowering ginger flavor. Poach egg with toast was average with a extremely tough bread... Didn't enjoy that...smoked salmon side was really small in serving and not special at all. Brekky burrito was amazing.... Enjoyed the breakfast feel within a tasty wrap. Fried egg roll was also really good. Enjoy the completeness of the flavour within the bun. Service was great and the decor was nice. As it was a rather small cafe it felt a little cramped. Overall a decent experience if you order the right stuff that suits your tastebuds.
Breakfast nom nom! So lucky this gorgeous little cafe is next door to the boyfriend! We had baked eggs, delicious plus a bacon and egg roll and a vege wrap. All the food was delicious and we intend to keep coming back so we can work our way through the menu.
Funky lunchbox sandwiches!!. I love the presentation of the sandwiches here! They come in a cute kids lunchbox with a piece of fruit. Brings me back to my good old primary school days... I've tried a few of their sandwiches but they've all been so good!! Their umami coffee's also really good too!
The whole place is suuuuuper cosy (or just tiny, depending on how you look at it). Up behind the feature wall shelf there's a larger communal table but it would be heaving during weekend brunch time so getting in early on a weekday was an excellent idea.
The artichoke definitely added dimension to the dish and it was ridiculously good with that sourdough toast. That egg yolk also looks like it’s about to burst. Kudos!
The Annex is one of those cafes that shows careful thought & creativity in their dishes.

Each table is decorated with a little something special – in our case, a tiny little succulent in an equally tiny coffee cup! I have a bit of a thing for succulents, they are like fat plants that I just want to squish… The breakfast menu is small but not uneventful. Kale features prominently which is great because it is in season at the moment and so very healthy.

There may be echoes of Rene Redzepi's radishes in soil at Noma in the vegetable salad, but this dish is resolutely fun. There's a wicked sense of plunder as you mosey around the manufactured garden, plucking a baby heirloom carrot here, or a thinly shaved radish there. Toasted grains, olive slivers and a bed of fetta create the soil at the bottom, adding a crunchy dip for your fancy crudites.

Great food, service and coffee. First time going to In the Annex today. Food was excellent - I had the scrambled egg on toast with the pickled onion chutney and heirloom tomatoes. Very tasty. My partner had the granola and seasonal fruit, which also came with yoghurt, which was presented beautifully. Coffee was excellent and my partner's green smoothie (kale etc) looked excellent and he said it was excellent.
Great service too. Place was comfortable and well presented.
Deserves its rating, will be back.
Great location set back from the main strip of Glebe, excellent food and coffee & great decor inside
Beautiful food. Such a delight coming here for brunch. The coffee is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the decor is great and it's cosy...but oh my the food is incredible. So fresh and thoughtfully put together. I had the smashed peas and labne and it came in an earthenware dish, with crunchy greens all over it. Baby broccoli, sugar snap peas, watercress. It was so clean and fresh and the flavours all worked so well. My partner had a delicious breakfast burrito.
Delicious but they no longer have kale on the food menu! Disappointed as that is why I came here, nonetheless food is delicious especially the breakfast burrito
Awesome little cafe serving up excellent coffee and a menu that's a bit different. Service can be patchy.
Been a few times now, the food is awesome and always presented in a neat way. the staff can be a bit variable though the owner is lovely. our waiter today had to check our order for 3 ppl 3 times! by then it did feel a bit silly like he wasn't really paying attention. but that's a small complaint cos the food ans coffee make up for it many times over!
Nice friendly environment, could do with a few more things on the menu, but overall a pleasant experience
What a winner!. It's early days for In the Annex but I have VERY high hopes indeed... I would rate it the best coffee I've had in some time... We had a breakfast and found the only difficulty choosing what to have... it was all mouthwatering - we opted for cured duck, roasted brussel sprouts, brioche and duck egg... terrific... I observed huge rolls stuffed with Kale, egg and speck being devoured by a couple of big hungry blokes - they gave it a big thumbs up.... it's a little gem.
This cafe has been our family’s favourite for last few months. Sandwiches are fantastic! My recommendation for brunch is definitely ‘big breakfast’
Family friendly place (i am sure there is a room for a pram) Outdoor sitting area(under roof). Customer toilet available (not a disable toilet)
Wow.. didn’t expect this cafe to be amazing! Great food and coffee.. see the pics
Best Pho in Sydney and only for winter!
Love the staff, they are super friendly and nice💖
Nice and friendly people and good quality food and coffee.
Super friendly service, the biscuits that come with the coffee are amazing, also the very best bacon & egg rolls - crispy bacon, perfectly cooked eggs and soft fresh rolls
Small cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoyed my breakfast here today, had the "Sticky Soy Pork Belky" (with tortilla) and it was really delicious. The pork was tasty, tender and also crunchy on the outside, would have been perfect with rice too. The service was nice, although a bit flustered when the cafe began filling up.
Great food and coffee. After several year it’s still a joy to go “in the annex”. The food is tasty and a reasonable price. The coffee is always good.
