Very fast service, exceptionally tasty and fresh fish and even tofu dishes were great. The prices are reasonable too. Recommended!
Ordered with Ubereats. Reasonable serving size especially when the prices aren't exactly cheap. The sushi rolls I ordered were better than a lot of places I have eaten in Sydney. Got some chicken katsu that actually ended up being the star of the meal. That was a great surprise. I will give this place a other shot but maybe in store will be better!
Lovely, child friendly staff. Food was great for the price, felt very authentic. Plum liqueur cocktail and grapefruit vodka cocktails were delicious, served long and light with soda.
I love this place. I even had my 30th birthday family dinner here, partly because it's such great food, and also because kids are made very welcome.
I Ate My Way Through
+4.5
By the time you read this, I will be in the land of sushi and all things cute and quirky. Yes, that is Japan. I am only spending a short time here and will be staying around the Osaka and Kyoto areas. I have my laptop with me so I will try to keep you upd
Fresh Authentic Food. I have been going here for years now. The food is always good. The Ninza balls are an absolute must.
A FAMILY FAVOURITE. My family eats here nearly every week (for some 8 years) and we love it - the food is delicious, service excellent and they really welcome kids. We love the sashimi, shumai, spring rolls and salmon teriyaki don. Have tried out a few other Japanese restaurants in the area but the food at SBR is definitely more tasty and serving sizes are appropriate. They have "trainee" chopsticks, colouring pencils and the ambience is great. Price is good and they have a loyalty card as well. Definitely worth a try if you have not been.
Consistently good. I have been going to this restaurant for many years. Despite the change in ownership over a year ago, they still have the same chef. The service has always been a bit slow but the standard of food appears to have remained pretty much the same. I would recommend anyone trying this restaurant. The authentic music is always nice. It can get loud though, because the floors are now wooden and there are no furnishings to absorb the noise. It is child friendly and it is nice that they have continued the tradition to give out toys to good children.
Great food. If you go early on a Friday or Saturday for dinner it can sometimes seem like McDonalds with kids everywhere but if you go too late when it is full the service (by their owned admission on the menu) can be slow - trade off. Food is great - sushi and sashimi combination, Katsu curry don, beef teriyaki, chicken yakatori, miso soup - all excellent
Tasty Fish Dinner. We had the eel, salmon and fish teriyaki. It tasted very good. Good service. Just beware if you bought a voucher because they exclude sushi from your choice of mains regardless of the fact that it is not in the terms and conditions.
Great little eatery. My husband and I have eaten here many times as well as gotten the odd takeaway. The food is alway super fresh and very tasty and the service (OK it's not silver service) but it's always friendly and attentive. Great value too!
Had a variety of dishes and could not pick a favorite because everything was so good. Will definitely be back again. Deep fried banana with coconut was awesome too
Came on Valentine's Day. Very fresh sashimi and sushi. Attentive service, not too slow as some reviews claim! Decent value. Will return again!
Good food....the scallop was excellent...but they need better trained waiters....we waited ages to get their attention to order dessert...in the end we just gave up and walked to the counter to pay.
Very good japanese food, reasonable potions, will be back!
Love this place. We have been here many times, and although sometimes the service can be a bit slow, the food is wonderful. not fancy dining because the decor is pretty simple and a bit tired looking now, but the menu is terrific and fresh and well presented. a firm favourite for us. and a great place for families...we always see tables full of kids.
The food here is delicious. The nigiri comes with thick, fresh slices of fish. The restaurant is open very late which is convenient, and the owners clearly work very hard to ensure the restaurant's quality is maintained. Would recommend.
Amazing quality food and great service at a reasonable price, highly recommend the tempura ice cream!
Everytime when i order through Uber eats, sometimes it delays due to lack of delivery person. However, the food is amazing, delicious and good quality. They make me to order different meals ,that means, I’m getting interested in.
An absolute hidden gem. Amazing quality food and service. Open late with easy parking. Quickly becoming one of my favourite dinner spots in the area.
We have been coming here for over 20 years - various owners over that time but I’m pleased to say currently really very good and we come regularly. Favourites are gyoza, tempura, yakitori, Katsu don curry and udon noodles fried with chicken. Highly recommend.
Tasty dishes at reasonable prices. Servings are just right: not too big, not too small, but if you are extra hungry, entree with a main is perfect.
My group ordered various dishes: spring rolls, chicken karaage bento, unagi (eel) bento and chicken terriyaki, and spicy pork ramen (no photo).
Update: recent visit, I ordered fried eggplant with miso sauce as well as my usual fave, unagi bento. Yum! I love eggplant, so this dish was pretty good, but I wanted more sauce! If you don't like soggy or mushy vegetables, you might not like it, it's similar to baked eggplant.
Update 2: went back again, and ordered the creamy crab croquettes, which is also my favourite. Yummy! But I wanted their home made tartare sauce, got terriyaki sauce instead.
All the dishes are delicious and I'm slowly working my way through their sushi items. This time I had the unagi bento. At $25.80, this bento is very good value. Comes with two pieces of potato croquettes, two pieces of gyōza, two pieces of spring rolls, three pieces of salmon sashimi, edamame (soy beans). A complete meal without having to order entree.
Also, their green tea is the good quality genmai cha (roasted rice green tea), not the tea bag kind.
Service can be slow, only one lady serving and one chef in the kitchen. Which means if the restaurant is full (Max at around 20 diners), you can be waiting a little bit before your dishes come out.
However in saying that, both the staff (owners?) are very friendly. Would recommend to go early for dinner, their rush hours seem to be around 1830-1900.
Definitely will keep coming back. Lovely little restaurant in Annandale.
