I have previously been to their flagship store in Eastwood and loved it! (Actually been more than once because they're my favourite place for hotpot) The pickled fish broth will always be my top choice when eating at YX. I love that their menu has so much variety, you are paying for the quality ingredients which is totally worth it 🥰
My recommendations would be to get the meat platter because look at that damn marbling (you can get a closer look in my last post). I also loved the fish which was creatively plated and not to mention, the theatrics of dry ice! 😮
I visited Yx with my girlfriend last Saturday and we were very satisfied with our experience . Yx offers an exceptional experience for any customers looking for a private and cozy place to eat. Their hotpot was of premium quality and the restaurant in general, was very clean, thoughtfully decorated which overall offered a top quality dining experience. The staff were very diligent in their service and ensured your pot never came close to being low on water. Their wagyu beef cubes was remarkable as well as their king prawn mash. I also really liked the chicken base.
I commend Yx for their stunning work and hope they keep it up in the future. We paid around 100 for the two us but we feel it was easily worth the money.
YX serves up super fresh very high quality ingredients in delicious hearty broths. My party of five loved being able to try two different broths in our individual half/half bowls, and the menu is varied enough that there is something for everyone. For the variety of dishes we tried the price was very reasonable with drinks/alcohol included, the plum wine was a particular favourite! We'll definitely be back.
Tried out this restaurant for lunch as soon as it opened. Staff were kind and attentive. Huge sauce and soup base selections. I found the meats and sides to lack in variety. However, the quality of meat was high and the bill was quite expensive as well. Would probably not go again unless for a special occasion just based on the price.
Really cool atmosphere to dine... you have small pots, so you can choose your own kind of soup base. There are lots of choices of precooked and raw food.
Nice sichuan and ox tail/ tomato soup base. Well organised and friendly staff. Though last order is at 2ish. Hence, i recommend dinner there instead of lunch if you want to take your time.
We were originally going to The Dolar Shop at Market City, but the wait there was going to be 90 mins. I walked passed this on my way to meet my friend & checked whether they had anything available. It must’ve been my lucky day, they had 1 table left right then, after that would be 45mins wait. I had to go across the road to get my friends, when I came back the girl had held the table for me. Moody decor & dim lighting, getting in & out of the booth was a bit crammed, but these were the only negatives I had about the whole night. We got 10 plates of food to share between 4 of us, and that was plenty. I got a mixed pot of the spicy broth & chicken broth. Both were good bases. The table service was efficient without being in your face. Definitely worth coming back.
Perfect place for dinner in winter. You can choose from a large variety of soups and the meat and seafood selection is super fresh and tasty. Service is good as well
Truth to be told..I feel like the YX Mini hotpot in Eastwood have better service. I don’t mind waiting in line for the food but the staff is a bit rude on how they handling the customers. With all the new hotpot place in Sydney, you really need to provide good service not only the food but the customer service. After all, the food is quite expensive.
Delicious broth soups! Such a stable in winter. Plenty of sauces at this location. Service can be a bit better. Overall, still a good experience.
➕The food were very well-prepared and at high-quality. Service was great. I like how each person can choose their own soup base for their own mini pot.
➖ Pricey.
One of the few hotpot places in Sydney that live up to expectations. Great selection of soups, dishes and sauces! Average $50 pp which is not too bad for value and overall a very satisfying meal.
The soup bases are excellent and much less MSG than most other hot pot place, absolutely delicious soups. Fresh ingredients for hot pot and presented beautifully. Their sauce station is extremely clean and well topped up and for $3 pp you can have unlimited sauce. I had hoped their drinks menu was more extensive but not much of an issue. Definitely a spot worth checking out!
Currently the best Chinese hotpot joint in Sydney. Everything is just right on its way. Homemade sauce and soup base make you could smell the aroma from faraway.
The best hotpot in town. with tasty broth and good quality and quantity of food for what you pay.
Staff are usually quite attentive and friendly. The base soup of hotpot is also delicious.
Good hot pot place, with tasty broth and good quality and quantity of food for what you pay. Even at the times where we’ve had to wait for over half an hour, the staff made the waiting time easier to endure by escorting us into the seating area when seats were free, and getting us to preorder on a machine which prints of a copy of our order. That way, when we arrive at our table we just hand them the slip of our order - we stayed preoccupied while waiting and got our food quicker when we sat down. Complimentary fruit is also given at the end and staff are usually quite attentive and friendly. Decent selection on the menu, and the quality of food matches what you pay for. Overall, a reliable hot pot place - can’t complain.
Yu Xiang is a hot pot restaurant situated in Haymarket. The hotpots are served individually, they also have a good variety of meat, seafood and vegetables, as well as condiments.
One of the best hot pot in town. Please book if you do not wanna queue for hours.
Had their signature wagyu meat plate and it was fantastic.
The place was quite cozy and the waiters were friendly&warm.
Best hotpot in Sydney. I’ve tried some hotpot in Sydney. This stands out for its portion and value. The Combo slices are more than enough for two people. The mushroom soup taste like detox herbal soup. It’s a quit unique taste.
Skipped the queues by making a reservation beforehand.
Pros: Good quality of meat, seafood and vegetables and the food came in a timely manner. Great sauce variety and selection made it a fun process of mix and match combinations.
Cons: Would have loved to have seen a bit more variety as the menu lacked some of my essentials that I would have preferres in a hotpot! Language barrier which made it somewhat hard to communicate as the customer-base was predominantly asian.
Overall, would recommend for groups of 4+ and would suggest making a reservation as queues can tally up during peak times!
It has everything you want at a hotpot place: good meat / seafood, quite a comprehensive selection of sauces, and the warm & loud atmosphere that always just takes me back to my hometown. Good for groups of 4+ and a very accessible alternative to the overcrowded Dolar Shop just right across the street, although it took us ~30 minutes to get a table here as well (Saturday night). Service was great :)
Huge line at the entrance of the shop. We waited for 35min to get a seat. The order was made with a machine on the ground floor. When they have a seating for us, we were guided to level 1. We ordered stock soup and picked fish soup as our soup broth and some tofu, vege, pork slice, chicken slice, qq ball combo and savoury vege pancake. The broth was really good and the dumpling looking thing in the qq ball combo was so delicious. Overall, food and service was good but it is certainly overpriced.
First time venturing to this hot pot restaurant in Chinatown based on Zomato reviews/ratings.
The meat was very well presented (as shown in the pics) and was of high quality. Soups had very nice flavors to it and the staff were very regular in topping our pots up.
The set up at our table is good too, where they have side stools to stack your raw food on, which is probably to cater for our individual small hot pots.
This hot pot restaurant would have to be one of my favorites that I've been to.
Yu Xiang is one of the earliest restaurants serving Chinese hot pot. The restaurant has 3 levels, and is open for reservations for a big group of people.
It might not be easy to find this restaurant. The entrance is super tiny and is right across the market city. However if you spot a lot of people waiting, then it should be the right place.
First you need to choose the soup base. I would recommend double flavour bases, one for spicy soup, and the other not spicy.
[Recommend] {Pork belly slices}, {Beef slices}, {Lamb slices}, {Prawn mash}, {Egg dumplings}, {Fish tofu}. Vegetables are very fresh and just pick what you like.
Great menu, clean and great service. Hidden upstairs above Hay St.
Great selection of sauces which you serve yourself, but pricier than other hotpot places.
Having only tried traditional forms of hot pot, I was slightly skeptical about the whole individual-hotpot concept. Little did I know how convenient and lovely it is to have your own little pot! I have been twice so far - if you wanna play it safe, go for the chicken or bone soup. Can say that the mild spicy soup is mild enough for me to handle pleasantly. Must try the fish roe balls!!! If you can spare the $32 (drinks additional) for buffet, it is well worth your money!
This restaurant is ideal for shared hotpot with a group of friends but you have the luxury of cooking/eating from your own individual mini hotpot. I came here with a large group of friends (11 ppl) but we got allocated a large table with only 10 individual hotpot places, which meant that a couple had to share a pot - this sucks since you have to pay ~$6 extra in order to share a hotpot. When ordering, you mark the number of servings required for each ingredient on the provided menu sheet. Fortunately staff reviewed our list, otherwise we would have seriously over-ordered on food. Ingredients were fresh, service was a little lacking, but overall a novel experience.
However, everything here costs money and quickly adds up - starting from the soup base ($6 minimum for each pot), condiments/sauces (optional $3 extra per person), and then followed by the hot pot ingredients and drinks - making for a rather expensive hotpot meal by the end of the night. Given the expense, you're probably better off organising your own hotpot at home.
Apparently they have private rooms (for large groups only) that offer exclusive menu items but you gotta book in advance.
Ordered chicken herb soup base + spicy base, a serve of beef slices, pork slices, spinach, abalone mushroom, pork tripe, 1 fruit cider and 1 soy drink, a fair amount for 2 girls and average $50++pp. Food tasted good, but slightly overpriced. Everything was lovely except the female manager in charge was rude and impatient.
The best hotpot in town. It is expensive but it worth it with the taste, always crowded when come here. The buns it is so good. The base soup of hotpot is also delicious.
Solid authentic Chinese hot pot experience at a fairly reasonable price
Service is extremely fast for your first order through, although getting a hold of a waitress after isn't as easy.
This restaurant is very crowded and you have to wait to be seated, maybe 20-30mins.
The restaurant is beautiful, clean, nice staffs.
Food is very delicious but for me, the chinese hotpot soup is very fatty, maybe 1 or 2 cm for oil in the pot 😭
This restaurant is in the top three Chinese restaurants in Sydney for hot pot. The signature is that everyone can have your own mini hot pot. Other Chinese restaurants in Sydney usually only provide one big hot pot for the whole table (although its traditional and authentic way to eat hot pot ). In addition, you can choose two flavors of soup base for the same hot pot. If you can eat spicy food, I recommend to choose spicy soup & tomato soup (non spicy).
The drawback is that it's expensive or overpriced. Average is $50/pp ($35/pp in other Chinese restaurants for hot pot). And remember to come early for weekend dinners. We came at 5.30pm on a Saturday night and got a table for 4 at 6.50pm.
Some tips if you never eat Chinese hot pot before. Firstly, choose soup base. It doesn't has many choices. Spicy soup is most traditional and famous flavour for Chinese hot pot. Most people choose two flavors, one spicy and one not spicy. If you don't eat spicy food, I recommend to choose mushroom soup base. Secondly, choose ingredients you want to eat. Now you have many choices. For meat, Chinese usually eat lamb and beef slices for hot pot (not pork and chicken). For veges, it's a great chance to try various tofu products. The last step is to choose and make your own sauce bowl. Everyone has his or her own preferences. For example, I like to choose sesame paste as base sauce and add shallot, peanut, garlic...Now Enjoy ~

Best hotpot place in Sydney. Very authentic! Wide selection of dishes, dipping sauce and broth. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with private dining sections. This place is expensive tho. Normally $120-150 for two. Also if you go during peak hours, it can be easily over 1 hour wait. Definitely recommend if you are willing to pay and wait.
I love this place! Honestly my favourite hot pot place. They have a variety of soups and let you have half n half even though it's mini pot instead of a shared pot for everyone. (The chicken/ tomato and mushroom soup are the best ones!)
They also have a sauce bar so you can make whatever sauce you want! I only rate it 4.5 because it's a little pricey (was about $260 for 4 people)
They also have a wide range of meats/ vegetables/ other sides.
Service was quick and fast and they also have nice drinks :)
I am not an expert in chinese food, but i think that this place is enought good and cheap.
The most funny is that you can make your own combinations and mixes of food and create your own sauces. You can choose different dishes, between fish, beef, seafood, vegetables and more. All cooked in a hot soup in a small kitchen in your table. Nice place, good attention.
My Chinese friends took me to this restaurant, it was really yummy particular chicken soup, but you can get 2 soup in the same pot as well. The meats absolutely delicious such as fish ball, fish, pork belly.
Cons : I really don't like the sauce .. you have to mix it by yourself!!! .. Which I'm not good at mix something !!! Finally it end up with soy sauce + oyster sauce + garlic + chilli!!!
This place was absolutely amazing! Good quality was top notch, and service was decent. It’s not buffet, but worked out to be $50 per person and we were full!
We had 14 people so they had to split us up into 3 tables - would have been good to be together though

YX Mini Hotpot can be found in the upper level of the building accessed via Hay Street. The restaurant is sophisticated with multiple booths made of dark wood and marble tabletops, each with individual stoves to cook your hotpot.
Our waitress Florence warmly greeted us and was very attentive. She kept checking if we needed top ups on our hot pot and brought out our order in excellent time.
It is a great spot for a meal with friends and family as you can share your meat, veggies and sides, but have your own hot pot bowl and flavour.
We found the food to be super fresh and excellent quality. We ordered the vegetarian soup base as well as the mushroom base. We’re not great with spice so this suited us well. We shared the extras to add to our hot pot, including a vegetable platter, meat platter, noodles, tofu, dumplings and fried bean curd. You can also get plenty of seafood options. We enjoyed adding the ingredients to our hot pot and then seasoning it with sauces from the sauce station. They provide suggestions as to flavour combinations.
We really enjoyed yx hotpot and will certainly be recommending this to friends.
Have been here a couple times now and always enjoy it! My fave is the meat platter with the meat rose as a centrepiece. The interior is super cosy and classy, I love the booths and marble table tops. I also like that you get individual hot pots as opposed to shared ones, and that the hot pot soup is more lightweight and less oily than I’m used to. Definitely a Haymarket hidden gem.
Individual mini hot pots so each person can have their pick of soup base, or two. Plenty of options on the menu and variation at the dippings bar to pick and mix your own dipping sauce
Food was amazing, 10/10 will come again.
just a heads up, if someone is sharing a hotpot you have to pay extra 8 dollars.
Very satisfied with the service and dishes . It was the first time I came to this hot pot restaurant and because we had 2 babies with us at the time, and the place was very narrow, the waiter kept reminding us to be careful when serving and adding soup. it's the best service place that are very worthy to have a family dinner. Give our waitress JQ applaud and will come back again for family dinner.

Great service by staff and they are so accomodating! Definitely worth a visit!
Loved the hot-pot!!! Definitely worth the try. Had mushroom and chicken soup base hot-pot, it was really delicious. The service was quick and excellent too. Will definitely be back again.
