Review Broadway Crown - Sydney

Hemal Wickramasinghe
Came here for a quick drink and some food before catching a movie at Broadway. We came here on a Friday and it was crowded as expected for a Friday. The cocktails did have a decent amount of alcohol in them and the burgers were not too bad!

Better don't eat there Really disappointed by the burgers The kitchen looks dodgy from the outside I've seen some baking paper really brown( black) next to the grill. Looks like they've been reused. And the burger were so burnt. Bacon burnt and dry We could taste moslty charcoal We got 3 burnt double patty burger Maybe they don't clean the grill all day.. ?

I love here all of the food, I would say it is best food of western style in Sydney. I really recommend to get some food here, specially pizza and halloumi tacos. These are awesome. The prawn is also so good as well.

It’s a nice place with a very good bar ambience. Had a burger and fries with a beer. The burger patty was too oily but still the overall food experience was good. The service staff was friendly and quick.

Delicious food, heaps of cocktails to choose from and cosy ambiance! Just what we need for these chilly winter nights 🙌🏻 I especially loved the nachos and chicken parmy 😋 Great bar classics to share with your mates!

Thanks to the boys for the amazing experience. It is a great place to hang around the city. A big not satisfied with my salad because it was a bit oily but may b i should have asked for it. But the food was amazing. Keep it up boys.

Broadway on Crown is a pub and dining space which can be found in the busy area of Broadway, Chippendale. Only a stones throw from Broadway shopping centre, Chippendale precinct, Sydney University and the CBD, you will find this place buzzing with crowds. Uni students and young people enjoying an after work drink and the food and drinks menu caters to this crowd well. The pub has a large bar with fully stocked drinks and special cocktails. There are plenty of interesting cocktail concoctions. We tried the ‘White Chocolate Passionfruit’ of Passionfruit Syrup, cake infused vodka topped with white chocolate drops. We loved the sweetness to this drink - a must for dessert lovers. We also had the light and refreshing ‘Vera Green’ and you can recharge with the fresh cucumber, aloe Vera, gin and limoncello. On the menu is the ever popular ‘Fairy Floss Martini’ made with Raspberry and Vodka and topped with Rose Fairy Floss. There is also the ‘Smashin Passion’ - Amaretto and Rum & Passionfruit & a ‘Blood Orange Margarita’ - a zesty twist on your favourite - 100 % Agave Tequilla, Vanilla and Blood Orange Syrup. Broadway on Crown also has your regular favourites such as espresso martini’s, aperol spritz, mojito, negronis and the much loved old fashioned. The cocktails are reasonably priced at $16 or if you can get in for happy hour on Monday -Friday from 4-7pm, the cocktails are reduced to $12. Food wise, the menu is packed with crowd pleasers like chicken wings, wedges, pizzas, burgers, pastas and schnitzels! Your ultimate comfort food and the perfect food to accompany a night of drinks! We tried the fried cauliflower starter and a different take on the chicken parmigiana - a huge chicken schnitzel topped with chorizo, melted cheese and hash browns! We managed to defeat it extremely satisfied by the end! We appreciated the side salad of rocket, cabbage and tomato as well as roast veggies. We also enjoyed a grain fed sirloin steak (250g) with thick fries and side salad. Probably one of the more quality steaks we’ve had in a pub. This pub hosts events and set menus from $39 pizza parties - $49 sit down meals - book online for events like Melbourne cup! On Mondays, $21 for a Parmy and a pour (425 ml schooner if cricketers arms) and there’s plenty of other deals so check out their website.

It’s hard to walk into such a classic art deco pub – the former Hotel Broadway – without being curious about its history. Sidney Warden, the most industrious of the architects working for Tooth & Co., NSW’s major beer brewer, designed this pub. Warden actually designed hundreds of pubs, including many you’ll be familiar with today - the Clare, the Lansdowne, the Henson Park, and the Light Brigade – to name but a few. While you might think the extravagant decoration would have sat at odds with their role as working class watering holes, the idea was to make them into imposing art deco advertisements for their brewery owners. We have some history too, this pub and I; with my last visit back in 2011 when it went by the name, the Broadway Lounge. For a brief period this pub was also known as The Stoned Crow, before a tussle over naming rights morphed it into Broadway Crown. The slightly wonky O in the logo is a little reminder of this bit of history. Today I find the interior darkened and relaxed, with exposed bricks, framed photos, and green ferns. Over the course of my meal it fills out with a rag-tag bunch of Chippendale locals, students and people knocking off from nearby offices, with most arriving in time for the 4pm-7pm weekday happy hour(s). This makes my White Chocolate Passionfruit Martini ($16) just twelve bucks. The vodka is cake-infused, the passionfruit is tart and fresh, and there’s a floating passionfruit full of yummy white chocolate buttons to play with. Vera Green ($16) takes gin, cucumber juice, limoncello and aloe vera juice and morphs them into something that – while too floral for my personal taste – would certainly be cooling on a hot day. On the menu you’ll find all the contemporary pub classics, running from burgers to wings, to nachos and pizzas. The Giant Chicken Schnitzel ($25) is big, with the beer-battered chips almost completely obscured by well-crumbed, moist bird. It arrives with a simple mushroom sauce and a small, well-dressed salad; but if you still want more bang for your buck, come eat it on Thursdays when it drops to just $17. We pad out our shared schnitty with Cauliflower Bites ($11) smothered in extra Cheese Sauce ($3). The interiors are soft, the crumbing is crunchy, and the lightly spicy, cheesy sauce makes them easy to like. Korean Fried Chicken Wings ($11) are sweet and very sticky, with a bit of gochujang heat on the back palate. They’re too sweet for me, but it’s easy to fix when Broadway Crown have the full range of Tabasco products ready and waiting for you to abuse them. While brown crisp edges mean the 10-inch Crispy Peking Duck Pizza ($20) doesn’t look like much when it lands, it is certainly very ducky! With a liberal helping of Tabasco Chipotle to balance the glaze’s overt sweetness, I enjoy it despite it being gourmet (where the topping is more important than the base) rather than Italian. Broadway Crown has thrown off all gastro-pub trappings to be a pub for the people; delivering what the locals want, at a price they’re willing to pay. (3.5 star rating)

When I first visited Broadway Cown, I thought it was like any other Sydney bar. But I was pleasantly surprised after visiting this place . The food here was really good!! Not just like any other bar. Make sure to try their chicken wings and their Mighty crown double burger. The guys here also serve up some mean cocktails 🥳

Delicious comfort food, perfect to get cosy in this winter weather! Loved the live music, all the amazing cocktails and of course tasty food! We tried the nachos, wings, chicken parmy and fish & chips 😍 so good!

When you think pub grub you think your average beer, maybe burger and fries, steaks and pie. However I was blown away at the thought process that went into the food at Broadway Crown and so many Vegan and GF options too! The drinks are not your average drinks. Amazing cocktails to choose from and I must say the food blew me away. My favourite by far was the Peking duck gf pizza. A must try

Chicken wings and cider !!! Perfectly match!!

But one thing is: do you think it is a little bit crazy to have 20 same flavour wings for two people?

Lol! Guorium🧪 seems my lovely papa love this idea!

It is Wednesday again which means 50c wings! Xihuahua 🐶 found this offer when search for budget meal for welcome party in desperation. We end up moving to this pub for wing smashing.

If you order a drink you get this deal. We ordered a glass of summersby apple cider and 20 crispy wings (one flavor only). The cider was refreshing and sweet! Wonderful! The wings were fried to perfection, we ate everything except the 🦴. The sauce was a bit more sweet than spicy though. They serve fast and you can enjoy your delicious meal inside or outside after ordering at the bar.

Probably one of the better pub feeds I’ve had. We ordered the nachos, barramundi, loaded parma, fried chicken wings and a couple of cocktails. Awesome location, excellent service, and solid pub grub. Can’t ask for more than that from your local pub!!!
Donna Zhang
Very pleasant experience, lovely atmosphere and friendly service! Must try their sweet potato chips (the best I’ve had). Very creamy pasta and flavourful chicken wings
Love At First Bite
Broadway Crown is a pub situated at Broadway that has relaxed and intimate vibes. We came here for dinner on a Friday night, keen for some pub food and a drink or two. We ordered the Fairy floss and white chocolate passionfruit martinis. I loved the latter, the passion fruit liquer cut through the white chocolate with a good balance of flavours.
Anggun Syahputri
Sooooo in love with the foods and cocktails in this place. White chocolate passion fruit is my fav !!!! And also, this cafe is just cross the road of Broadway shopping centre, it’s a good choice if you want to chill after shopping for enjoy the beer or some yummi foods xx

what a cozy place to go for dinner with friends, boyf or husband! they have a live entertainment, live music, sports bar, and obviously NICE FOOD!! love em so much.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
For deliciously refreshing cocktails and a good varied menu that serves great food - including an amazing “Schnitty” - you will certainly experience this at Broadway Crown. For drinks we went with lovely refreshing cocktails. Sir had a blood orange Margarita – made from El Jimador Tequila, Cointreau, blood orange, lemon and lime. It had a nice cut of orange peel and a slightly sour taste as you would expect. It was an interesting twist on a Margarita. Mlady went for one of her faves, a Mojito. It had Havana Club rum, mixed with fresh limes, brown sugar and mint leaves. Boy this smelled so good and it also had such a beautiful refreshing taste. This is one of Mlady’s “go to” cocktails and she loved this one.

Keen for a pub feed? Then head to Broadway Crown in Chippendale for a hearty meal and drinks on tap - yes, I'm looking at all you uni kids out there celebrating the end of final exams.

Being quite a small person means that a big chunk of steak can be quite daunting for me to consume but when it's cooked to perfection you best believe that I have no issues wolfing it down! The grain fed sirloin steak ($28) is beautifully chargrilled and when smothered in mushroom sauce and served beside beer battered chips, you can see why the customers keep coming back for more.

If you're looking for something healthier, why not try the Extra Mile Salad ($18) with grilled salmon ($7)? It's served with a heap of veggies, quinoa and a poached egg and will leave you wondering why you don't eat more veggies everyday. I loved the presentation and vibrancy of the elements and thoroughly enjoyed how fresh the ingredients were.

For sides I would definitely recommend the homemade tacos with grilled chicken ($12). Be warned, for those who struggle with spice like me, the heat in the tacos will hit you like a tonne of bricks. In saying that, I actually quite liked the little kick even though I sometimes struggle with pepper. These tacos were definitely my favourite dish of the day.

All in all I had a great time at Broadway Crown and would have no problems suggesting this bar for anyone looking to fill their bellies.

As always, thank you to the manager at Broadway Crown and CPM for the invite.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Pleasant pub with funky decor and a spacious surrounding. Food was really tasty for a pub meal. The deep fried cauliflower was amazing and the chicken wings were absolutely delicious 😋. They -also offer funky cocktails and would definitely recommend them. All in all a good vibe with good food.

The wonky ‘o’ in the sign is all that remains of the Stoned Crow on Chippendale’s Broadway, but fear not if you are a fan of a versatile venue that can fit into either a bar, pub or restaurant category – the Broadway Crown has all the bases covered. With UTS, Sydney University and the University of Notre Dame all within spitting distance, Broadway is very much student town these days and Broadway Crown clearly had an eye on this notoriously thirsty but thrifty market with a healthy selection of cut-price daily specials available. Chicken Parmigianas, burgers, nachos and pizzas are all on offer depending when you visit.

Came as a guest. Pretty busy on a Friday night we tried a few dishes and enjoyed them. The vege tacos are packed, fried cauliflower are these fried balls with cauliflower in it,different but nice. My chicken Parma is quite for filling and my missus enjoyed her salad with salmon in it. They were not stingy with the salmon either

I ordered a beef burger. The menu didn't tell me it came with sauce. A lot of sauce. I don't like that on my burger personally. The beef patty was a bit fatty looking but the people who served me were very nice. If you like that kind of burger you could try here

Oh my gosh how I love this place!
Food is on point and so is dessert.
Service was great and bar staff were super friendly and engaged in conversation.
Food came out quite quickly and was well priced.
Portions were also a good size as we didn't walk away feeling sickly full or hungry.
Also in a nice location where you can watch the business of the area but are kept away from it at the same time.
Definitely a place I would recommend to family and friends.
They also have a good assortment of cocktails which are well priced during happy hour.
Would definitely come back - especially for dessert!

What a cool venue. I have driven past this pub soo many times and never stopped in. Staff are super friendly and accommodating, food is delicious and generous portions. I strongly recommend the chicken parmigiana special (Thursdays).

Service was very bad.. none attended us when we were sitting outside.. snitzel is a bit expensive.. cocktail is so so... not sure we will return... :(

I had the chicken schnitzel for $18. I was hungry and hoped that the servings would be generous. I wasn't disappointed. The chicken schnitzel was enormous.
Miss Deliziosa
Came here to try out their $8.50 pizzas during the weekend. Mind you it is more on the small side and will feed 1. Tried the duck pizza, I can't say that it is on the same calibre as the duck pizzas at The Australian but it was pleasant.

Headed to the stoned crow after work to grab a few drinks, fell in love with the cheesy chilli fries and wedges with their wide range of sauces
Eightoutagain
I'd almost argue the best cheese burger in Sydney, and if I'm not smashing a burger I'm eating a massive schnitzel. Probably need to reinvent the whole wine list though cos they are not good at all
Excuse Me Waiter
The Stoned Crow is a Crows Nest institution and has been around for as long as I can remember – now they’ve opened up a new outpost at Broadway, right in student central between UTS and Sydney Uni. The Broadway bar has a contemporary fitout with industrial touches in its hanging pendant lighting and plenty of high bar table seating.
I Ate My Way Through
With two bars already in Crows Nest and Zetland, The Stoned Crow has spread it’s wings once again and opened it’s doors to the people of Chippendale. Last Wednesday I went to check out The Stoned Crow’s newest addition on Broadway with a night full of food and drinks. Although smaller than it’s Crow’s Nest counterpart, the bar makes up for it’s size in style. Exposed brick walls, hanging foliage and an eclectic array of objects add to the bar’s old style with a modern twist.
Confessions Of A Glutton
I love the simple pleasures of a good meatball, swathed in a little bath of chunky tomato sauce, as well as the homeliness of a risotto; the perfect winter dish made even better by rolling into balls and frying into little steamingly hot croquettes. The winner for me were the buffalo wings though; messy to eat but that’s the satisfaction – using your fingers and gnawing away at the spicy glaze and flavoursome meat. I would have preferred a blue cheese sauce over the ranch sauce, but ranch is usually a more common crowd-pleaser.

Great pub venue in Chippendale which has now been taken over by the renowned Stoned Crow. The venue itself has been changing management continuously, so I'm hoping this one stays for good. It has quirky decor, very friendly staff & quite spacious inside for large groups to be scattered around.

It's not as popular as the sister Stoned Crow in Crows Nest (yet!), but their delicious food and daily specials will hopefully get more people trying them out. One thing for me - I hope they will expand their Friday $10 lunch specials like other pubs around the vicinity (currently it's only the chicken burger special) so that more office workers can spend their Friday pub lunch here. I work around the area and came here once with coworkers, and they pretty much all complained about the very limited lunch special (also the rest of their menu is quite over-priced) so hopefully this will be looked at soon.

For me, I quite like their spicy chicken wings, pulled pork monster roll and chicken burger.. I also tried their mulled cider and it was quite heart-warming, during winter this is probably the best thing to have that will warm you up quite quickly.
Take And Eat
The Stoned Crow has recently just stepped into the Broadway, Sydney food scene delivering a modern twist on classic pub food. The Stoned Crow bar and restaurant has a relaxed and warm atmosphere serving hearty food perfect to share with friends. The menu is also paired up with an extensive selection of cocktails and wine which accompanies anything you order.

With a menu focused on fresh and local produce as well as an awesome selection of wine and cocktails, The Stoned Crow Broadway is a fantastic addition to Sydney's food scene.
