Review Vessel Sydney - Sydney

Andrew C
Pretty nice bar with good pizzas. The peas and carrots look like they are just steamed frozen peas/carrots. There is an interesting range of beers available on tap, and it's locate quite close to Barangaroo. Nice friendly service

Great service, great coffee and a great breakfast. Not much more to say really, good to find a place doing things so well. The day that I visited was the first day of the new menu, I had the porridge which I think will be a big hit. Highly recommended, thank you.

It's a very bad store. The boss is a very untrustworthy businessman, so I think their food is safe and doubtful.

Food is good, not so pricey.

Friendly service, food below average. Expensive for what it was

Large servings and well prepared meals.

I've been to Vessel a couple of times and both times have been really enjoyable. The pasta is fresh and beautiful with great flavours that make you drool! The staff have always been really friendly, Italian (which is always a bonus as an Italian restaurant) and honest about the dishes they like (or aren't that keen on). I highly recommend the prawn oricchiette (I could eat this every day and not get bored of it)!

Great selection of food and wine. Great for a casual dinner out with friends.

A nice place to eat, despite the carpet being dirty but the service is a bit slow. Ordered raisin toast and it was late to come out and tasted very bland. Will provide a lunch review soon.

Ordered risotto on my next trip and it was presented well. Chorizo and chicken. Good portion size, quite filling. Unfortunately it was a bit “gluggy” still it wasn’t too bad

I dined in the cafe section of Vessel for a quick weekday lunch, there is a decent lunch menu with sandwiches and salads (and daily specials such as Parma Friday’s). There is also a bain marie with a selection of hot meal options. I got the roast lamb with my choice of veggies. The lamb was tender and I enjoyed the selection of roast veggies that accompanied this dish.

Visited when they had the $15 pizza as their daily special. Ordered the pizza bianca and the king prawn, both were amazing. Service was good and food came out quick.

Visited Vessel on a cold day, and had some warming dishes which was nice, cocktails were also decent with a bar menu with a wide range and many sweet, sour and classic options. Used a voucher which made the evening worth it, and good value.

Average coffee and food. Their "Korean chicken wings" are terrible. Tried a few sandwiches and a pizza and all were quire average. Service is okay.

Don’t usually write reviews but this place... the food was mediocre at best. But what was upsetting was the staff they were extremely rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. All in all I don’t think I would come here again

We came here with a groupon voucher. The food was mediocre and if we had paid the actual menu prices, it wouldn't have been worth it. For the price of the groupon though, it was decent.

Would not return

I ordered takeaway food from the restaurant section for lunch during work. It was raining considerably and I had not known about their restaurant policy regarding seats because of their casual cafe and restaurant style mix. I sat down and opened my pizza box to inspect it and was rudely told by one of the staff "no takeaway food in here!!". I would have expected a polite phrasing instead of being basically told off. I then headed towards the cafe to exit (as that was the direction where I had come from) and was rudely yelled at by the same woman "not in the cafe either!!". I understand that policy, but for it to be so rudely stated (basically yelled at) was not nice (and I hardly ever write reviews). The food I ordered was ok.

Good ambience
Good food
Costly
Friendly staff
Costed around $40 per head with no alcohol.
Sweet potato fries were must try.
Very near to darling harbour and well connected to Wynyard station.

This is located near King Street Wharf. We arrived with a booking but didn't need one as it was quite empty this evening and had a choice of tables. Service was very attentive (possibly due to being quiet) but he was helpful and on the ball.

We decided to split an entree of Saffron And Pea Arancini, Pecorino & Saffron Aioli. The arancini were nice and crispy on the outside and delicious creamy rice with peas on the inside. The mains chosen were Cannaroli Rice Risotto, Grilled Italian Sausages, Saffron & Green Peas and Spicy Yellow Curry, Snapper Fillet, White Quinoa, School Prawns & Silken Tofu. The risotto was creamy and had a delicious hint of Saffron to it. The sausage with peas were a delicious addition on top of it. The curry was flavoursome and was wolfed down quickly. It was a good mixture of seafood. We also got a side of beer battered chips, tomato sauce. It was more salsa like in texture and was nice. The chips could've been a bit more crispy.

The service was excellent. We had prawns and calamari as entrees and the risotto and steak as our mains. The food was cooked quite well and there was plenty of seating on a quiet Monday night when we went. Nice ambience.
The Next Rush
Ive walked passed this place heaps of times after work drinkies at BUNGALOW 8 across the road and finally got the chance to come in and try the food!

Our hostess that evening was the lovely MARITA who has a great knowledge of food and wine from her native Italy and helped us tremendously with recommending the dishes we had this evening which were prepared by the talented Chef Alessandro!

THE SHARED ANTIPASTO PLATE is a great teaser in Italian and features cured proscuitto, marinated vegies, foccacia, grissini and real authentic mozzarella! An essential accompaniment to this is a glass of red which Marita recommended to us.

The SEARED TASMANIAN SALMON with a mixed side salad of beans, sicillian olives, semi dried grape tomatoes dressed in a viniagrette was beautiful. The skin was crisp and its flesh perfectly cooked. The beauty of Italian food is in techniques like this where the soft flavours of the salad dressing, crunch of the beans and contrast between the saltiness of the olive and sweetness of the tomato are prominent yet not overpowering allowing the salmon to sing through in its natural flavour.

The PAN ROASTED CHICKEN BREAST was so cleverly cooked. Rough cut and cooked in a way where the moisture of the meat was retained while crisping its outer layer. The heirloom tomato panzanella rested on an egg plant puree and it was a surprising and interesting combination not often seen in many menus of sydney Italian food.

The VENUE features high ceilings with 3 areas that cater as a bar for casual group meetups while the restaurant has a very intimate and romantic feel. The layout of the dining room features a centrepiece view into the bustling kitchen where some of the most delicate creations showcasing the essence of Italy are created.

Marita tells us wine is a staple in Italian culture and this is truly reflected in the extensive selection of wines that are on offer, deliberately chosen to compliment specific dishes on the menu. They have been sourced from various regions of Italy.

Delicate, Flavoursome and Warm is how i would describe this place and definitely an essential stop the next time im out and about

Was lucky enough to receive an #invite to @vesselsydney in Barangaroo the other day to try their new menu - couldn't visit and not try the burger though 👏

Vessel Double: beef, double cheese, pickles, onion jam and tomato relish in a bun w/ beer battered chips 🍔 🍟

Cute little burger, loved the addition of the caramelized onion. If I didn't order the spatchcock and dessert as well I'd have smashed a double 👊😁

Lovely spacious venue with a sleek modern vibe. It was nearly empty during lunch on Thursday which was kind of a downer, though not so surprising based on my meal. The chicken salad sounded great on the menu; it promised grilled chicken, spinach, grilled eggplant, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts and lemon dressing. Instead I got poached chicken with fatty skin that clearly never touched a grill with no pine nuts in sight. The lemon in the dressing was also glaringly absent. Don't bother with this bland, uninspired salad. You can get a much tastier, interesting, generous salad at any foodcourt in the city for half the price. Service was friendly and professional. Real shame about the food.

Cavernous space with tables scattered throughout. Such a big space, difficult to build atmosphere - would have to be teaming with diners to have any real impact, which on this occasion it wasn't. Main waiter did his best to inject warmth with good banter.

Started with a garlic pizza (which was delish), some arancini (which looked good, but were bland and tasteless. Laden with turmeric they veritably glowed like a Gold Coast meter maid's fluoro cosie), and some plump Sicilian olives accompanied, strangely, with rock hard grissini.

Then the main pizza of lamb, roast pumpkin and fontina cheese - wonderful fusion of tastes and textures, particularly the sweetness of the pumpkin. Insalata of grilled chicken, baby spinach and roast eggplant good, but not great, or maybe by then we had had our gluttonous fill. Chinotto over a working lunch kept the sobriety.

Sparsity of patrons a concern, but perhaps not too surprising given the adjoining Barangaroo building works which would, with the scaffolding coming down, appear to be wrapping up.

Regularly loses my order, often left waiting for either my coffee or my food while most people have already ordered after me, got their items and left.
The only people left behind with me are other people who have had parts of their order lost...

Used to be a reliable coffee place, would pump out coffee efficiently during the morning rush hour without burning.

Now my order is always just lost.... Maybe the morning rush hour is too much pressure for some of the new staff? Disappointed as this used to be my regular spot.

Coffee is ok and the bacon and egg combo is good but nothing amazing or out of the ordinary

Best thing is cheap steak on monday, steak is decent size, cheap and great way to start the week

Defo recommend and revisit for the steak

First time:

Pros:
- Nice Italian dining ambience, waterside view, and chefs visible in view
- Gelato dessert was definitely one of the best gelatos I've ever had - 100% full of flavour, not sickly sweet or too creamy and milky, and not too stringy and dense either
- garlic pizza - great big size, with oozing cheese. Very well made.
- Service - friendly, and just the right amount of theatricality.

Cons:
- Size of the main dishes - they were small.
- Price tag for the size - not a fair price
- The range of main dishes - quite limited, not a vast range of meat protein options (there were about 5 or 6 meat dishes max)
- The taste of the main dishes and entrees. Arancini balls did not ooze of creamy sauce or cheese in the middle, quite flavourless. Mushroom risotto was liquidy instead of creamy, and the porcini smell was too overpowering for the risotto to be enjoyable. The veal dish had a very small portion of three small veal pieces, which equate to around 100g veal altogether.

Second time:
Chose better dinner options - Great pizzas and spatchcock

Third time:
Came for lunch, ordered the salmon and broccoli dish. Came out in less than 10 minutes, with the perfect size of salmon (looked about 140g), and good amount of broccoli. Great for healthy lunches.

You know that saying, “never go to bed angry”? Well you should also never go to bed hungry. It’s a thing. And it was exactly what we were, um, trying to prevent when we rocked up at Vessel Italian & Bar, and ordered two pizzas, a pasta, an entree and a salad. Because salads are healthy, right?

Good choice for business lunch. Modern and trendy interior. Attentive staff. Remember the mushroom risotto the most out of everything, well made! Rigatoni was a bit under cooked!
Simply Starving
I enjoyed a long lunch at Vessel and loved the atmosphere and ambiance. It is very open, spacious and airy, which can be hard to find in inner city eateries. The staff are attentive and efficient and I would order the gelato by kilo if I could - it's absolutely delicious! The warm olives to start were by far by favourite and ordering an array of dishes to share is the way to go.
Kis The Cook
Vessel is a bright and airy venue down by the water next to Barangaroo. The space is open and has a great feel. Food comes out really quickly. The mixed olives are delicious. Mushroom risotto was my favourite. Perfectly cooked. Lots of variety that will satisfy all tastes.

I'm here 1-4 times a day working right across the street. The staff are friendly and the pump out coffee quickly and without burning it.

The meals at the restaurant are good as well, although a little pricey for what they are but that's what you get on Darling Harbour. I recommend the pizzas over the entrees if you're looking for something to eat.
Featured Eats
Nice little eatery for breakfast and lunch tucked away just behind the water. Food quality is always great but serving sizes leave much to be desired.

Hit and miss, not a quick option for time savvy business people. Beautiful and varied breakfast and lunch options. Table service is slow and they got my meal order wrong. Coffee is good but morning line tends can be long. Cashier is pleasant but slow.
Adam_elkalicious
Simply Scrumptious. This restaurant has to be one of the nicest places i have been to
well done to the chefs and all the staff for making my anniversary dinner one to remember
Sunny
Not worth the money. The food was just average. The salad was comprised of purely rocket leaves, sadly not a variety of vegetables. I am a fan of pizzas and have to say that Crust made better pizzas than this restaurant :( If I remembered correctly, the entrees were slightly better than their mains, but overall it was not a memorable experience dining there. I just remember feeling slightly dissatisfied when we left the restaurant. Thank goodness we went there with a Groupon voucher, otherwise the dissatisfaction would've be higher.

Simple, authentic Italian. Good food, great service, awesome location.

Average. Just finished dinner at Vessel. All I can say is my experience was average at best. Service food and cleanliness . Choose somewhere else.

Its actually a really nice restaurant and very close to King Street wharf. We order the mojito and espresso martini to start. After trying the espresso martini, I immediately regretted ordering my mojito. The espresso martini was really yummy!

Situated on the ground floor of the new Macquarie building it is easy to get to and would be perfect for those wanting something to peck on after the Friday booze sessions especially as the silly season approaches.
I Ate My Way Through
Vessel is split into three dining experiences - Vessel Italian, Vessel Cafe and Vessel Bar. The decor is beautiful, open and airy - paired with a substantial contemporary menu, it looked like just the formula for nearby office workers to grab an after-work bite. Meanwhile for me, it was date night. The stuzzichini options are right up my alley. Think of nuts roasted with chilli and rosemary ($6) or mixed marinated olives served with house-made grissini ($6.50). We end up with two suppli'al telephono each ($3 each). These are the Roman version of Sicily's arancini; fried risotto rice balls with mozzarella, basil and saffron. They're piping hot and scrumptiously stringy.

Would never recommend to anyone. I think this cafe should be shut down. Not much to comment about the food and drink. But the attitude is terrible. One of the managers doesn't know what manner is. She didn't greet me at all and looked grumpy and 'pissed' all the time... I'll definitely not recommend this kind of poor service to anyone
Little Star
Worst steak ever. Great venue, the waiter was really nice but he never works as waiter in his life, we help him to open the bottle of wine that he suggest us and was also a really bad wine. but was nice all the night so this was not the problem. all the food, and i repeat all the food was horrible!!! we are not difficult people with the food but there weren't nothing good, my eye fillet i don't know what was, but sure not fillet..... so bad food for a really expensive check!!!! never never back

Poor conduct. This place accepted my booking for lunch in the restaurant 20 mins ago. It is closed today.
I rang and they explained that the restaurant was closed but I was welcome to visit the cafe. Not what I had in mind.
Their attitude was: "too bad pal!"
Anniele.duong
Poor Service and Food. The only thing going for the restaurant is that it is in a good location. (Although given that 1/2 the restaurant was closed from shelley st on a tuesday night, the whole restaurant may as well tell the public their closed) However service was really poor. We waited an 1 hour and 20 mins for our mains to be served from finishing our entrees. We asked wait staff on 4 separate occasions to advise how much longer that the meals will take and all we got was "I know its taken an hour" ?!

Manager was not willing to see us and in all honesty I would not recommend coming back to this over priced, poor service and tiny sized portions to anyone. You are better off paying for something else in the same vicinity where you will be guaranteed to have a much better dining experience.

Even with a voucher from Travel Zoo, the whole night was a disappointment from start to finish with dinner taking over 4 hours from being seated to having teas and coffees.
Cindy
The restaurant looks fancy, however the food is so below average, too salty and small serve, the risotto is absolutely nothing. We went there with the entertainment voucher, it said buy one main and get other main for free, when we paid, they even count salad as main. Very disappointed , will never go again.
Sarah
The staff are very friendly & the setting & atmosphere great but sadly the food is quite average, lacks a certain 'zing' the wine list however is great.
100 In 50 Days
6 out of 13. The staff is friendly but the place lacks ambiance, and the food is so so... If you want simple Italian go somewhere else
Lia
Great cocktails. Great food. Kudos to the bar staff. Merits to the chefs But floor wait staff were really bad. Not only were they not attentive. There wasn't that many tables full on the night we were here. But bad service. Not knowing the menu. Getting orders wrong. Not great. Need better floor staff.
