I absolutely adore the frosting - that buttercream is just to die for and the cupcakes are just so cute.
The service was really good too.
Lots of different cupcakes to choose from so it can be hard but whatever you choose, it's guaranteed to taste just delicious.
Definitely one to visit and is also a nice gift idea.
Ordering a big cake for a special occasion so came for a cake testing and tried some of the flavours in the smaller cupcakes! Just one thing.... they had to be vegan and specially ordered for the birthday girl so we tried the chocolate and the vanilla with matching respective icing. OMG, looks heavy and buttery, tastes so light and delicious you just don't want to stop! No weird aftertastes either! Favourite was the chocolate with the chocolate cream. Grabbed a few non vegan ones to take home for the crew! Looking forward to the California Girl cake with vegan decorations of cupcakes, candies and macarons!

A delectable chocolate torte cake was delivered to our workplace on Thursday thanks to a former workmate who offered a generous cake to thank our office for giving him a good work reference.
It was so decadent yet delicious, and to be gluten free yet scrumptious made me realise how salivating some cakes can be without the additives (or lack thereof). It was a cake that tantalised the tastebuds and I hope to have it again (for a special occasion, if any)!
Awesome customer service (tho sometimes it takes a tad long for phones to go through) - however they always get back to you promptly. Lovely wonderful bunch of people that work there including Luke (their manager?) and Felicia and Daniel. The little luxury is a stand out dinner cake - wife's cake of choice for her birthday and she was really happy!
A supplier kindly brought some cupcakes for us and one was popped on my desk! It was a Red Velvet Cupcake with a delicious and generous topping of icing on top. The cupcake was moist and yummy. One of the softest cupcakes I have had for ages.
I absolutely love the cupcakes from Black Velvet. The rich, decadent and deliciously sweet icing is generously swirled on top. My favourite would have to be the salted caramel complete with popcorn on top. The perfect way to treat yourself!
I had to get this cake designed, made and delivered whilst I was in San Francisco. Black Velvet was extremely patient, understanding, helpful and responsive to all my needs. They went above and beyond in getting this cake and flowers made and delivered with zero fuss. The cake was DELICIOUS and was gone before you knew it. I would definitely come back and order more cakes from Black Velvet, I cannot be happier with their service.

Nifty little cupcake store in Darlinghurst. Their most popular cupcake i think would have to be the salted caramel. Nice Paris style chic interior with white and black theme. Cupcakes tend to be on the pricey end but some of the flavours are well worth it. Staff are friendly and fabulous.

Personally for one of the best cupcake places in Sydney, the dough is always so fluffy and the icing incredibly soft and sweet, full of flavours and love.
Pricing is a little expensive and so that may the only sticking point for some
The cake itself (while small) was rich and flavoursome . In my view maybe a couple of extra minutes of cooking but that's a preference. The icing was super rich, generous, and cream cheesy. The salted caramel lashing on top was also really good. The 40% hot chocolate was super delicious and a really big serving.
Shop and decor are a bit twee (and kind of look like a bridal shop) but it was enjoyable. I'd go back

Sweet and soft. I often wonder when I read other people's reviews - am I just a food Philistine? Part 2 of the wander and went here for the first time. Asked the owner what he was most proud of creating and bought the salted caramel and the gaytime cupcakes. Didn't eat them until I got home. After taking a photo I bit in and then basically demolished them immediately. I read Anna001's review and think - am I missing something here and what I ate was garbage? Don't know but they didn't last long. The icing on these cupcakes is the really soft kind not the hard icing - so much that as I was eating it some of it almost dripped off. The icing is very sweet if you're not into that - but if you're not, why are you buying cupcakes?

Beautiful store, from pretty cupcakes, candles, salads and chocolates. A gorgeous store indeed, its no surprise the baker has a background in interior design. Nice plate to eat in with a good selection of drinks, some light salads if you're feeling like something savoury. I was walking by and tried two of their cupcakes, one being the black velvet and the daytime. Decently priced, i also liked the fact that the cupcakes weren't too huge. Black velvet i felt was just pleasant but nothing that particularly wowed me, the daytime however was impressively reminiscent of the real thing, the frosting smooth but light, i actually thought it was slightly too light, compared to the frosting I've had from Sprinkles cupcake in LA being the best I've ever had hands down. However in terms of sydney standards, these are much better than any other cupcakes stores I've had here.
I am so happy with my order from Black Velvet. The communication through online chat was very easy and efficient. I asked for a cake i can decorate myself and it was perfect. The delivery was on time and I really couldn't expect any better service. Black Velvet cakes I highly recommend for any occasion.

I was a bit hesitant before I ordered my partner's b-day cupcakes because sometimes when I ordered them from other shops, the cupcakes were slightly damaged. However, my experience with Black Velvet Sydney was compleletly different. After I received what I ordered from a delivery man, I could see that he treated them so carefully. There was no damage at all. I love all the items in the birthday package and the cupcakes were very fresh. The cupcakes made my love super happy today. I have ordered from Black Velvet Sydney a few times now as I struggled to find a cake for my friend who is vegan. All I can say is wow.. their cakes are absolutely incredible. We have ordered the vegan cupcakes and cake.
They looks stunning but taste even better. Usually vegan cakes are very dry and flavourless but not from Black Velvet, you honestly can't even tell that no dairy has been used.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. The service is always amazing and super easy to order from. They are my go to cake makers in Sydney.
I got this as a early valentine's surprise from my husband and I absolutely loved it ! My husband is not that much into cupcakes but he ate half of these 🤭. The package looked exactly as picture and cupcakes are delicious.
It was lovely and funny at the same time as I also ordered the exact same cupcake set for him to be delivered next day. I contacted the team and requested if they can change cupcakes for my order and they told me its too late as they are sold out. BUT I was offered free cancellation! This was such a thoughtful gesture and with this, I am now their forever customer.
