Charcoal Pot Harbourside offers good experience of having hot pot & BBQ on the same table. There is also a generous sauce bar with a great abundance of different ingredients and condiments. However, I have to say that this place is absolutely overpriced. For $120, the food items are a little less for two people and did not fill up my stomach. The broth was clear and tasteless. Service was slow but the staff were quite friendly and tried their best to attend to our needs.

My main problem is how expensive everything was. $14 for a small bowl of 'premium' lamb meat slices seems almost outrageous and doesn't taste any different from the regular meats you can buy from Chinese shops. $3/pp for sauces which you have to get. $17 just for the soup base (up to $19 if you want laksa or house spicy). $3 for a small attachment of butter corn (make sure you add salt and pepper to yours for actual flavour). $3 for cheese that was plain and watery and clumpy. $3 for egg omelet which won't even be finished cooking by the time you eat everything (don't forget to salt). $6 dollars for a small patch of vegetables or mushrooms.
The sets are good if you want to try a little bit of everything, but then I feel that they don't give you enough meat to justify the cost. Some of the meats are not even salted and most of the beef are very tough (we tried a range of cooking times from medium rare to medium). The pork was fine.
There is nothing on the menu that seem value for the amount that you're paying, and the end products aren't even of premium quality. The concept is great, cooking temperatures are ideal from the charcoal and the hotpot doesn't boil off immediately. However this restaurant will either need to reduce the costs or improve the quantity and quality (or all of the above!).

I loved this place, we got hot pot(Laksa soup)and BBQ at the same time. Really nice! And you can get your own sauces.
Cube Roll is big and tasty.
Sliced lamb and beef are delicious that cooked with Laksa soup.
There is no bone in Chicken wings, easy to eat.
Chief's Signature four flavour pork really juicy and it does not taste greasy with sauces.

Loved the experience of choosing hot pot & bbq style but can be on the pricier side.
With unlimited sauce options ($3pp), and selections for both bbq and hotpot, the only thing you have to worry about is trying not to dip the wrong sauce or use the wrong cooking method 😅. Although, this does make it a fun experiment!

Interesting concept (BBQ and hotpot combined), but aside from the novelty, it's not that groundbreaking. Food seemed expensive for small portions. The BBQ and hotpot don't really go together, and the end result is that the BBQ grill is small, and the hotpot bit that you can boil is quite inconvenient as it is just a ring around the BBQ grill. The soup bases were quite good, and you can make your own sauces to your liking, but it's just really expensive.
Service was friendly

Good place to have meal with friends especially when you wanna have barbecue and hotpot at the same time! Feel awesome to enjoy good quality meat with yuzu wine. It's also a nice try for pandan sago icecream in the end.

The restaurant is located on Lv 2 of the shopping center in darling harbor, which can satisfy your willingness of having hotpot and bbq together. The wagyu beef is so amazing and worth trying. Fried chicken legs also left deep impression. Unlimited buffet offers you a good reason to forget about keeping fit.

Beautiful seating and atmosphere. The staff er attentive and cery serviceminded. We tried the laksa soup base with various veggies, wagyu meat and beef slices with meatballs. Everything tastes amazing full of flavour and quality meat. The combination of hotpot and grill is excellent and makes the experience more satisfying.
Will definitely be returned. Much recommended.

Satisfy Both Hot Pot and BBQ Cravings here!

Best for those who can't decide or groups who like either type. Pricing is on the steep end but it is an enjoyable experience.

The only thing you have to worry about is trying not to dip the wrong sauce or use the wrong cooking method 😅. Although, this does make it a fun experiment!

Their food is amazing and I really love the two options bbq and hotpot at the same pot.

Love the concept of combining hot pot and Korean bbq into one. You can opt to cook your food over a hot charcoal bbq or let it simmer in a hot soup. The food taste great. Though the pricing point for each dish, particularly the meats are quite expensive for the portion you receive. The staff are very friendly and it is a nice social meal to have with friends and family.

Will not come back again. We ordered all you can eat hotpot and bbq, the portions of food from the second ordering were very large so they charge extra money for any leftover. Waitress was rude when she told us about the extra charge.
SuKi Tai
Unbelievably bad service, waitress was very rude; beware of the portion if you are ordering all-you-can-eat buffet, they serve very large portions of food from the second lot of ordering so they can charge you extra money when you cannot finish the food. Will NEVER come back again.

Great friendly service. Fresh delicious food. Plenty of tables available. Vents r good so it’s not Smokey. Pot is used for soup and top part is for charcoal grilling meats. Coal is plenty hot enough to boil soup and cook meat thoroughly. Fun experience. I liked the Taiwanese sausages and the marinated beef ribs the most. Mushrooms were excellent. Had curry broth on one visit and the plain broth on a different visit, both were excellent, between the two I would choose plain broth so u can taste the dipping sauce and meat flavors more.

Vibe is great. Relaxing and chill vibe and I like how restaurant is not loud so u can easily have conversation with friends. Cozy environment, with nice decor.

Price is high but quality of food is high so it’s worth it. $3 sauce charge per person for unlimited sauce at the sauce station/buffet, unfortunately they don’t have soy sauce at the sauce station which I think they need to add.

Highly recommend!

Poor customer service, the girl who served our table was a bit rude. Even though the food was not bad, I think it’s definitely overpriced, not recommended.
FYI I have tried to call the restaurant almost 10 times and no one answered the phone at all then when we arrived there, it was very very very quiet!!!!

Their meat quality is exquisite!! They have variety of side dishes that go really well with the bbq! Must try definitely

bbq and hot pot concept was brilliant!

i had a feast with a few friends definitely loving it!

Buffets may be appealing to those who have a good appetite, it can often trade quality for quantity. When it comes to BBQ buffets, things get a bit samey sometimes and the quality of meats can be hit and miss too. For these reasons, we checked all the available online resources before booking a lunch trip to charcoal pot where you can bbq and hot pot at same time. The 90-minute All-You-Can-Eat feast was even better than we expected and topped one of the best buffet experience we had in Sydney.

Really do suggest people to not try this place. They have low hygiene standards from my experience. Green worms in the vegetable and garnish. When I told them about it, they tried to hide it with the garnish and vegetable, and just remove it from our table and acted as if nothing happened. Very disappointed, as ratings for this place is high, which contradicted my experience.
Lila
I am deeply disappointed in the food quality and the service and I strongly recommend to not eat at this place. I found a GREEN WORM that was alive and moving vigorously as I finished my meal. It traumatised me and my friends, I saw good ratings at this place and insisted we go here and instead it caused anger and frustration as it was my friends birthday, she vomited at the toilets afterwards. And no action and responsibility was taken. IF I WAS TO RATE THIS PLACE IT WOULD BE 0.

Friendly staff and service. They explained everything very well and assisted us when we had questions. The only reason im giving a 3 out of 5 stars is due to the variety of menu options especially when you order buffet but you can only order maximum 5 at a time. You can also tell the bbq meat were frozen, not fresh so they were dry once cooked and i like my meat medium rare. I would definitely come here again for the combined hotpot and bbq experience.

Well, what can I say?? You get to eat hotpot and bbq in one go!! Best of two worlds in one place?
Yes please!!
With a selection of best quality meats, seafood and vegetables, your eating experience is elevated to sooo many levels!!
This place is definitely going to be my go to hotpot/bbq place!
Hungry Diner
Great place inside the Harbourside shopping centre in Darling Harbour.

Very nice selection of high quality meat, seafood and sides on the menu.

If you love Wagyu I suggest getting the M9 Wagyu platter or premium platter.

The soju juga are nice and they have cold corona to wash down your hot pot.

I recommend turning up the spice in the broth and helping the patrons understand how to cook the seafood as some items I wasn’t sure whether to put in the hot pot or on the grill (small thing).

I really enjoyed the sauce bar too, the sesame is very unctuous to did your bbq beef into.

So delicious!!!~Lesha soup pot is my favourite! Drink has many different kinds, strawberry soju taste good!~Buffet worth a lot!~ I will comeback again. 💕💕💕

I love the concept of combining two of my favourite things, hotpot & bbq! The soup base was so addictive, the service was great too. The meat wasn’t the best cut though.

Not sure if I was unlucky or the hygiene of this place was spiteful. We found a cockroach in our hot pot soup, totally lost our appetite. A shame since the meat looked fresh.

Definitely the first time be here, came here because of Zomato, was a wonderful experience, very fresh idea to combine hot pot and BBQ together, I had this kind of imagine in my own mind but glad to see someone actually achieve it in a good way! The services are decent and food taste really nice, thank you for the experience, very worth to try!

I decided to go here this evening after being fascinated by the menu and boy, I was not disappointed. The service was absolutely incredible but the food... oh man...the food was even better. If you’re in the Harbour area, this is a must visit for authentic Malaysian food! I’ve already made a reservation to go back tomorrow night 😍
The Engineer Eats
Charcoal Pot serves a half BBQ, half Hotpot meal which is something quite different than the usual. We ordered the Beef Set and Vegetable set along with some Japanese tofu and sweet potato noodles. We chose the laksa Broth for the hot pot base. The Hotpot can be a bit small to fit everything in especially the vegetables so we have to eat slowly while we wait for the items to cook. Something fun to try

Real rating: 2.5/5
Cool concept - a great place to go if you can’t choose between hot pot and bbq. The meat quality isn’t that great unfortunately. Their laksa soup base was pretty good.

Very polite staff took his time explaining and was very helpful to us really loved the food it was so fresh not badly priced would highly recommend we would be back for sure thanks

The food taste was not as good as we expected. In addition to the price, each adult need to pay extra $3 for sauce they display. I think they are too expensive but the quality was not really good value for money. It was good experience to try bbq and hot pot on the same table at the same time but will not attractive for repeat customers. However their location is at Harbourside, Darling Harbour which has lots of tourists so maybe they aim the tourist rather than local people.

Very interesting concept! It combines Chinese hotpot and Korean style bbq which really surprise me and my husband. The restaurant uses charcoal to cook instead of gas. We can grilled all meat with flame at the bottom from that charcoal. There are more than ten types of dipping sauces we can choose from. The wagyu beef is very nice. My husband really likes their angus short ribs and avocado smoothies. We will go there again!

Absolutely 10 out of 10!! Highly recommend! You must try restaurant in Darling Harbour. Brilliant idea to combine BBQ and Hotpot which brings taste of fresh to a next level. Nice, friendly services contributes to professionals. Definitely will come back again. This is a AMAZING place photos can’t tell...

Very creative concept! Who wouldn’t want hotpot and bbq at the same time? I came here with a Scoopon- $150 credit to spend for $69. You get to pick what hotpot soup you want and the ingredients to go with it. We got the spicy soup which was pretty spicy. The cuttlefish was pretty nice, had some spicy marinade on top. I’d recommend ordering that one. My partner didn’t really enjoy the meat slices we ordered since they were frozen and dried out really quickly. Overall, it was an interesting experience. The service was actually pretty decent as well for a Chinese restaurant. They were super attentive, friendly and informative. This definitely made the experience much better. I don’t think this place would be worth it at full price, but with the Scoopon, it definitely was.

A decent dining experience, the place looks nice and the ingredients are good. Hotpot and BBQ combined is quite innovative. My only criticism is that the serving sizes are quite small.
Nghiem.chau
Great concept, food is average and it’s over priced!
Service was extremely poor, it was really difficult to get the staff attention and when we did, we were asked to wait, there are 4 waiters and the restaurant is half full.

What an innovative experience! A hot pot and a barbecue on the same stove. I had great fun cooking the food, however there can be some improvements. I found the prices way too high for the small serving sizes. And while the charcoal made the grilled meat extra fragrant, it couldn't bring the hot pot to boil and everything took way too long to cook. Overall the food is nice, just overpriced.
