Review The Dolar Shop - Sydney

Yu Xuan Yio
Hands down the best hotpot I’ve ever had. The silver soup is definitely a must try. An amazing pot of soup for hotpot! The beef and lamb were extremely good quality and fresh. They were really generous with the vegetable platter as well. The main event was the noodles for me, it goes perfectly well with the soup and other ingredients. This place also has a great variety of sauces available and also fruits. Not forgetting the ice cream for dessert at the end of your meal. Would definitely recommend this place and be back again. Not forgetting the amazing service from the waiter! The only thing to note is that this place is a tad bit pricey, but most hotpot places are priced similarly as well.
Feeds For Three
One of the more premium hotpot places in Sydney. You definitely get what you pay for, great service, fresh ingredients, complimentary ice cream at the end. Key highlights to order - fresh pork belly (thicker cuts that were so fresh) and special dolar shop shrimp pate were probably the best things available. The premium beef wasn’t worth it, I would go for the normal options as it’s hard to tell once dunked in the soup. For soups I ordered the truffle mushroom but the truffle aroma vanished pretty quickly. Exquisite golden (pork bone) or silver are also good options to get. Sauce, appetisers and fruit is $4.90pp, but you can definitely put the salad included here into the soup for some extra greens! Highly recommend if looking for a premium hotpot experience (we ended up paying $100+pp so it’s on the high end).

One of the two better hotpot I've been to in sydney. Haidilao is our favourite as service is friendly and the atmosphere is fun. Place is clean and food is good. The dolar shop is next level. I would say the fine dining of Chinese hotpot. Seating is luxe. Service is attentive. The sauce bar includes icecream cones topped with a macaroon. And the individual mini soup pot flavours include high end ingredients such as truffle and saffron. These were the two we tried. And truffle is definitely preferred. They have a good birthday promo if it's the day of your birthday and ID will be checked to confirm this. You then get to draw a lucky draw to win a free dish. Thankyou my little one loved this novelty and the icecream. Pricing is reflective for what you get. But its worth it if you're into good food.

The best hot pot restaurant I have ever been in my life including the places we visited in Asia! Excellent food, very friendly staff, and awesome customer service! I highly recommend it! The restaurant has a great selection of food, they pay great attention to cleaning, and attend customers very frequently. The first time we came to this restaurant was when I was pregnant, and they surprised us with baby socks at the end of our meal with a very nice note. It happened to be our baby’s first gifts ever! Now that we have our baby girl, we wanted her first restaurant visit to be to this beautiful restaurant as it became very special to us during my pregnancy. When we visited the restaurant, we were greeted with the lovely staff bringing socks and a cake for us to celebrate! How thoughtful! We look forward to coming to this restaurant for all our special moments!

Probably the best HOTPOT in sydney. Maybe a bit pricey. BUT its all worth it... Ingredients are very fresh and yummy. And the waiters are very attentive and nice.(the best service at a chinese restaurant) can not find faults with this place.. Free icecream is the cherry on top. 🥰

Best hotpot palace!!!! Everyone has their own pot, toppings are high quality and extremely fresh. Service is outstanding. Ambience is nice and everything is so photogenic. Having said that, the price is not cheap so it’s more like a mid to top tier restaurant on my list. My number one place to go in winter besides KBBQ and before this I’ve never been a hotpot person. Love the ice cream as well btw. Come after 6 so we get a free parking spot at Hay Market for dining upstairs.

Great meats, hotpot broth, and atmosphere combined for an amazing experience catching up with friends here 😊 Love the selection and variety for the menu, recommend trying the sugarplums at the salad bar and save some space in your stomach for the ice cream they give you at the end!

Best customer service I've experienced. The meat is delicious, high quality and reasonably priced. Overall, however, you should be prepared for a cost of at *least* $40pp (broth + meat).

Expect great service here and some interesting dishes!

From the choice of broth, to the selection of meat, noodles and veggies, you can't get sick of it because it will always be what YOU choose it to be. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

It doesn't stop there at Dolar Shop. They offer a unlimited buffet of fruit, sauces (inc. house-made soy sauce which is absolutely DELICIOUS. I need this secret recipe) and soft serve at an additional cost.

Loved the menu presentation so I wanted to mention about the design and how it showcases their vision of Hot Pot. It also features mouthwatering photos and instructs you on sauce combinations to try! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Also note, they have a interesting queue process where if there's a wait, you can opt to get a text message. This means you can shop around at Market City and the text message will display the wait time and update you. This is a really cool feature I hope more restaurants deploy :)

Came here for the second time yesterday and ordered similar stuffs. Not too sure whether it was the prawn pate or the meat made us very sick till the next morning. Also for 80pp I wouldn’t come back again.

9/10

You can definitely taste the quality so everything is worth a try here but the specific items I believe are a must get are:

1) Exquisite Silver Soup
2) Premium Selected Wagyu Beef Platter - (if you go with a bigger party then get individual plates of each of the meats in the platter)
- Hand Sliced M7+ Wagyu Boneless Chuck Ribs
- Grand Cru M6+ Boneless Chuck Ribs
- Wagyu Tongue
3) Fish Roe Balls
4) Sweet Potato Parpadelle
5) Durian Pancake

Best hotpot in the town. Everything fresh. The soup also good. Always come back to here everytime.
Mineralh2o
Food served quick and well presented. Service was kind and personal. Place is spacious and clean. However have to point out the food doesn’t tasty. The beef was as thin as paper and can’t taste much. All are very basic and simple food. The hot pot soup looks good but again lacking of flavour. May you add dipping sources to company with but back to point. Not worth the money spent.

Really like the concept of having your own hot pot ! Food is fresh and the meat balls are delicious

Walked around Market City upper level for a feed. There were so many to choose from, these hardworking spruikers popped out and convinced us to go in. They did a good a job, and the food and service was actually awesome! Glad we got sucked in!

Staff was so rude

Came here for the lunch special. The quality of the meat is the best I've had in Sydney. The lunch deal is real good value too. Definitely coming back here again for dinner.

We had the weekday lunch set - wagu beef + seafood. Both were in good quality. We tried 3 soup bases - pork/ sichuan/ ox tail tomato. I loved oxtail tomato the best. Spacious and comfy seat plus super friendly staff. It is a premium hot pot hence at least $35 pp minimum. A big big recommendation if you want to have a nice hot pot with friends and family

This is the best hotpot place I ever tried. Highly recommended, best service , friendly and attentive staff. You need to book to avoid queuing but even queuing is worth the wait . Really enjoy this place

Our first time here and first hot pot experience...we actually told this to our host and she ensured we were looked after by all other staff who educated us on how to order, cook and eat. Beautiful food and wonderful atmosphere. Topped with complimentary green tea ice cream from a sweet waitress. Thank you!
Glauzex1
We had a lunch set with wagyu and pork meat, personally I tried competitors hotpot both same from china too. I still think this is better than another famous one. I can only say, you should try this and its definitely way worth it if its lunch set (wallet friendly). But if I have chance and coming with more huge crowd, I will definitely dont mind to skip and order more. My orders is large portion which server 225 gr of meat each, and definitely enough for per pax (even my gf finish it).
Lourdes Mo
Very good service & amazing food 😍 quantities were good, overall was decently cheap. Self serve stations were plentiful and had a variety of options. They provide you with a special self made house sauce as well.

It's my 1st time try hot pot, and I'm very impress with the food quality and their services. Since the 1st step into the restaurant till when I step out, the staff was very polite and helpful. They really make sure you know how to order, what they're serving, and how to enjoy the food to the fullest. They really make sure you have a great time. I recommend, and I will go back again for sure.

Probably the best hotpot in Sydney. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Fit out is grand and service is good. Great selection of liquor.
Jon C
Great place to go for hotpot. The food quality was good and we enjoyed having our own individual hot pots. Great for family dinners and the staff were attentive.

The best hotpot in Sydney hands down! Service is amazing and attentive, great ambience and the pork just melts in your mouth 😍

Beef was very very good! Will come again.

An upmarket hot pot restaurant with exceptional quality ingredients. They offer a selection of quality Wagyu beef, Kurobuta Pork, live seafood, abalone & handmade shrimp pate etc. It’s a refined hot pot dining experience. 🙂

Service was top notch with helpful & friendly staff. They will give you a quick tour if you are a first timer. The sauce bar has a wide range of sauces for you to mix & match. Next to that was a snack bar with garden salad, kimchi, roasted peanuts & cut fruits. To me nothing was appealing, (garden salad with hot pot?? 🤔) since they are an upmarket restaurant where they serve live seafood & premium Wagyu beef and all that, I think they should do better than that. 🙄

Food was tasty & delivered quickly, great service & great ambiance. However I think it was a bit overpriced. You have to pay for your own broth (from $12.90) & sauce ($5 per person). The portions of the meat were relatively small for the price. I suppose you pay for the overall experience as well. For me this restaurant is an one off visit. 😏

This has become my fav hotpot place in Sydney! Very well presented dishes and good service. The wagyu beef plate was really good and a must try! The only thing is about the price- a bit pricy, about $150 for two.
Gana
Very welcoming staff and bordered on being over attentive (I'm not complaining) whilst we worked our heads around the menu and process associated with a hotpot. Asked for another menu ( not the order form) and got the fab hardbound version and soon it all made sense. Before I forget - a very cool space too ! Unfortunately hit a snag as soon as i sat down - how low are the chairs !! One likes to sit up straight over the food and not have to contort shoulder to get chopsticks picking. Anyway, decided to live with that.
Ordered a variety - two broths - Silver Special broth and a Combination ( with one mild Szechuan - mistake) and Pork Leg, Hand pulled noodles, Banana pancake, Shrimp pate and Kurobuta Pork. Loaded up with a few sauces, a Tsing Tao each and we were off ! It was intriguing more than anything else though we are veterans of most cuisines all over the world. Definitely a meal not to be rushed and preferably eaten in a group. That evening we weren't up for an 'active involvement' dinner and hence tired a bit. The low chair certainly didn't help.
The food and flavours certainly pleasing ( the sauces rocked ! and not the szechuan broth !) but one can't but help comparing any broth meal to a Pho. And that humble pho ( with a good stock) gets ranked higher and higher and beyond reach of its competition ( ramen included !) . All up I would give The Dolar Shop an 3.5 but Zomato's system works only in full stars. A nice experience I'd say.

Great service - the friendliest and most welcoming staff. The food was delicious, the individual hot pots are so convenient. Such a fun night with friends!

The food quality is excellent with every bite of freshness and wholesome taste, staff are all courteous and helpful, a good spread of dish variety and sauces/condiments.

Overall, a very satisfying experience. Will definitely be back again.

Wish that Dolar Shop will debut in Auckland one day.
Reni
The best broth ever. An individual hotpot for each of us, no more argument for sharing which soup. Liked it :) fairly high-end restaurant with high quality customer service. Tips: always double check the order bill with what you have ordered, I went there for twice and they keep missing something for my order.
Jesslikestoeat
Actual rating: 4.5/5

Presentation and quality of food was very impressive. Each person had their own hotpot which they could choose a broth and add ingredients to their liking. There was also a “sauce bar” and unlimited ice cream at the end of your meal.

My only fault would be that we had a strand of of hair on our meat platter but the staff attended to us promptly.

Also, it would be helpful if the menu stated how many serves a “whole” or a “half” portion of various ingredients fed.

The Dolar Shop is one of my favourite premium hotpot places in Sydney. The price is definitely on the more expensive side (probably works out to be $100pp) but it is definitely worth it for the service and quality of food. Super impressed with the high quality beef and seafood on their menu

There is also unlimited free matcha and vanilla ice cream for dessert!!!

Would definitely re-visit. For all you hotpot lovers, The Dolar Shop is a MUST experience!

I badly love the sesame paste made by this restaurant! It is too delicious!

Level 3 of Market City underwent a complete rehaul a while back and has been transformed into the 1909 Dining Precinct, which now includes Dolar Shop. It's a Hot Pot restaurant I've definitely heard good things about, so I had to find out why.

The first 30 seconds really get to say a lot about how much they value their customers here. I was shown to my table and given a brief intro into how Hot Pot works (if you're not aware already), and a quick background about the restaurant itself. On the way you can see everything being prepared fresh and get your first look at their extensive sauce bar.

Most people know communal Hot Pots, but Dolar Shop are well known for their single serve pots. This means you can tailor the broth to your personal liking. There's a number of different spice levels to choose from, as well as others including pork bone, spare rib, mushroom, or tomato and oxtail.

Now the meat and seafood is where Dolar Shop shines. Everything is of the highest quality with cuts including M9+ premium Wagyu beef, and fresh seafood from the live tanks outside.

The whole venue screams premium and that's apparent in every aspect of our evening. From our attentive server, the quality of food, the interior, and the incredible flavours from everything on our table! They can also cater for anyone from single diners all the way up to events with 40+ people.

To date this is my favourite Chinese Hot Pot in Sydney and I strongly encourage anyone to see that for themselves.

I've been to a couple of hotpots in sydney before, not many have made me keen to return.
I recently visited the Dolar Shop above market city as some friends had told me how good it was. So I decided to check it out.

I can happily say this is by far one of the best qaulity hotpots I've been to!
The dolar shop is macanese, and they have a few unique things about them. Firstly, they only source their meats & seafoods from the top qaulity suppliers in Sydney that are sourced from Australian waters.
This reins true, as the highlight of my meal was the qaulity of meat! It's not a good hotpot unless the meats and seafood are good!

Secondly, they have some special sauces and broths that are unique and very popular. I recommend trying their combination hotpot pr bone marrow broth and hot n spicy. I also loved how their hot n spicy comes in mild so westerners can handle the heat. Another special sauce was a soy sauce base blend that they make in front of you at the table, which you use to dip your cooked meats into. I could have happily drank a bowl of this stuff it went beautifully with the meats!

Thirdly, the staff were very friendly to us and very prompt with giving us new chopsticks or anything else we needed.
The atmosphere and decor was very pretty with a couple of private dining tables around the back. You will also notice a panda bear around the place, either seated with a customer or up on the counter 🐼💕 She will keep you company if your dining alone 😍

Must orders:
- A grade wagyu
- meat platter
- wontons/dumplings for the hotpot
- whole fish
- shrimp paste
- tofu rolls
- Whole fish

Definitely accompanied by a bottle of wine 🍷😜👌

Finally tried this restaurant and we really liked it! Besides the wait time (we waited almost 2 hours, we went had cocktails at a bar nearby but the restaurant offers free snacks and drink as well). The meats and fresh prawn paste, fish noodles and everything ordered were great quality.
The price is on the expensive side but I feel justified for the quality and service. We will visit again.
-This restaurant is quite expensive considering the name is contradicting itself. However, it is definitely worth it in terms of its high quality food, meat and amazing service.
-Everyone gets their own individual hotpot, select your own soup base and make your own sauce! This place is halal. You get unlimited free soft serve at the end(chose matcha & vanilla).
-Our waiter(Dennis) showed the true meaning of exceptional customer service. He made it a very special experience for us. I know staff are trained in a particular style but his service felt more personalised and genuine.
-We booked a reservation(recommended if you plan on going at night) and to our luck, they gave us the VIP room even though we didn’t specifically ask for it. However, if we did, the minimum spending is $880 if less than 10 people.

Elisabeth Wu
Food was good. However, I booked for 7 people, we had to wait over 45mins to finally get 2 tables of 4next to each other, not very handy to spend a nice evening with friends.
Justin Donnelly
I've always been a fan of hot pot, it's a hands on experience and allows you to spend time with family or friends and just be present whilst enjoying good food.

Dolar shop sets itself apart from the rest with its attention to detail and exceptional quality ingredients. The decor is stunning, very reminiscent of the art decor period. They also have partnerships with the Sydney fish market and Vic's quality meats to ensure high standard local produce.

They offer something for everyone, a hand picked selection of quality meats and seafood are on offer, plus a sensational sauce bar where you can get creative They also provide all the information you need about 'how to hotpot' If you haven't done it before

Be sure to add this place to your list for a refined dining experience.
Jwswong
Premium quality meats and seafood. Hot pot doesn't get better than this. Get the pork broth. Can't wait to come back. There's two pricate dining rooms. Self serve sauces and assortment of buffet salads, nuts and fruit.

I was a hot pot virgin until @hungry_diner recently took me to @thedolarshopsydney and here's what my experience entailed.
.
Hot Pot is a great way to graze your way through endless cuts of meats and vegetables stewed and cooked in a broth of your own choice.
.
For a big eater, this can be frustrating but I found the experience to be very enjoyable when I was surrounded by my friends.
.
It's kinda of like a subway sandwich experience where you choose your broth flavour, choose your salads, sauces and meats and then all is brought to your table to be cooked by your own hands just the way you like.
.
As the meats are sliced thin it only takes a few seconds for each slice to actually cook, so 30 seconds to 3 mins Max is all you need... And at the end of the night you can drink the leftover broth for maximum flavour.
.
All in all it was a great new experience and one that all should come and attend.
•
•
•
•
•
#bicep #muscle #wagyu #sydney #tricep #churrascada #australia #angus #dryaged #shredded #prawns #churrasco #wagyubeef #abs #gymlife #meatlover #carne #bbqporn #ripped #instafit #churras #meatporn #ilovesydney #bbqlife #physique #gains #aesthetics #flex #pork #strong

AMAZING upmarket hot pot experience where you get individual hot pots. Sauce and salad bar with heaps of options so you can customise to suit you. Very fresh and high quality ingredients such as Japanese Wagyu and live tank seafood. Beautiful fit out and very friendly, attentive staff

I must say, I was quite impressed. The meat and vegetables were very fresh, broth was flavourful, staff were also really attentive. It is definitely one of the better hotpot restaurants in sydney.

Really enjoyed eating here.
The meat and veggies were fresh.
The noodles was good.
Its also child friendly.
The staff very accomodative.
The individual hot pot set up is also a nice innovation.
Will be going back!

Great hotpot place in market city. Beautiful decor with a large variety of self service sides (kimchi, fruit, vegetables). Extensive range of sauce options to mix and match, with the meat balls freshly hand made! Ingredients were fresh and tasty, with rich flavourful soup/borth. A higher end experience worth the price.
Thao T Nguyen
Best hotpot in Sydney so far. Clean, crisp and fresh ingredients. Service also great and friendly and not too much like Haidilao. Sauce and soup base are amazing. Highly recommended.
Karen Zou
Good experience and nice various types of food. The price might be a little bit above the average, but the overall experience is good. Although there is always a long line during rush hours
Hungry Vibes Only
Hot pot is usually a pricey affair, but the Dolar Shop shows you why it’s meant to be that way. The service is impeccable—they’ve thought about everything from bibs to protect your clothes while your slurping your noodles, or covers for your coats and bags so there’s none of that usual hot pot smell long after you leave. There’s also a ceramic case around your pot so you don’t accidentally burn yourself!

For 2 people, we were super full after:
- hand made noodles
- udon
- beef tripe
- cheesy beef balls
- enoki mushrooms
- wagyu tongue
- M9 wagyu knuckle
- M4 boneless chuck ribs

Sauces are an extra $4.90 per person, including deep fried bread sticks and fruit. Ice cream is complementary regardless if you get extra sauce or not!

Also, and perhaps most importantly, the staff are so attentive that soup is topped up every 5-10 minutes without you having to ask. We highly recommend!

Love their service. Very attentive staff members. Free fruit and salad station, and soft serve cone for dessert. Fresh produce and glamorous decor. It’s not cheap, but you’re paying for the overall experience, the price is the same as any similar hot pot places

Incredible place for hot pot!! I love individual hot pots because it’s a lot easier to eat/customise to your liking. Service was 10/10 and the food selection was great!! As someone who likes to take photos of their food, I especially appreciated how appealing each dish/the overall spread looked.
You’re also given complimentary soft serve with flavours of vanilla , green tea matcha or a mix of both. You’d assume the soft serve would be of bad quality as it was for free, but it was really tasty!

A bit pricey, but given the service and quality, this place has become 1 of my fave places for hot pot.
Ashley Cameron
The customer service is extremely poor. We were informed emphatically that the wait would be less than 30 minutes. There were no updates. An hour passed. When approached why the wait was longer than they had been so confident in, we were told it would a further hour. This is misleading and deceptive and a waste of our precious time. We encourage people to boycott this place where your time is not valued at all. I don’t normally write reviews, but felt compelled to warn everyone who reads this. I will be informing all of my friends and family of the same.

This is a popular Chinese hot pot restaurant located in the top level of Market City shopping centre. The good thing with this place is that everyone gets their own individual hot pot to cook the ingredients. There is also a make your own dipping sauce area and fruit to end your meal. I had the tomato and oxtail broth which was pretty nice. There was also a good selection of meats such as wagyu brisket, wagyu boneless chuck ribs and boneless lamb ribs. There can be quite a wait during peak times so make a booking beforehand is recommended.
Fat Journey
Great hotpot experiences. They have variety amount of good ingredients. The soups are good, they have good dessert too. Overall it’s good. Recommended

Our friend from my dance troupe came back Sydney for her graduation ceremony, then we had a short but memorable catch-up with her.

The service it’s excellent! We sing a birthday 🎁 song for her and then a waiter gave us a bowl 🍲 of long-life Noddles for free for her. (Considerate!)

Food it nice and fresh! The the sauce bar is excellent - variable!!! I think I will visit again with Guorium🧪in this winter again for sure!

They offer us free matcha ice cream 🍦 after the meal~~~ 🥰🥰
GrumpyGranny
Heads up: It can be a bit of a wait. If you’re hangry and want food asap this is not the place to be 😂

But if you manage to have the patience and want to give the popular place a try then there’s free snacks, fruit and plum drink at the front while waiting. Win-win in my opinion 👏🏻

The service here is great. Everyone is so friendly, from helping us make their signature sauce to bringing us ice cream. Yes there is ice cream at the end (plus fruits but ice cream first haha)!

Their sauce bar is of standard selection with about 10 different kinds of sauces, eg. beef sauce, bean curd sauce, sesame sauce, peanut sauce etc. Personally, I think this is the perfect amount of selection as you can mix-and-match the sauces (all them possibilities). As mentioned, they have a signature sauce - Dolar Shop Soy Sauce - with a seafood taste. I find it a bit too sweet and tend to opt for my own concoction instead though.

The meat is fresh. We ordered the wagyu-lamb platter, which turned out to be too much for two girls 😂. I also like how they allow for half sized dishes for people who want to try different things. Their signature shrimp pate is not a must-try as I could taste frozen shrimps being used - but again I’m very picky with seafood so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now to the broths: We each got a combination broth - mild spicy broth + tomato, and mild spicy broth + mushroom. I find the tomato broth not having as much depth as I would’ve liked. Same goes for the mushroom broth. But living up to their names, tomato broth has a distinct tomato taste, mushroom broth with mushroom. They’ll be much better if more bones were used in the process of making the broths. Don’t let the mild spicy broth deceive you as it is NOT mild at all 🙃 So go light with your spice order friends.. My friend even saw someone eating ice cream and their hot pot at the same time 😂😂

I admit their prices are not the cheapest but the service, ambience and meat quality makes up for it. Go have a try if you can!

P/s: turns out I was too busy eating and forgot to take decent photos..
Christine Nguyen
Service was impeccable!!! Our drinks were constantly refilled, they arranged everything on the table in arms reach for us, always clearing plates once we are done.

One of the fanciest hot pots ever. The meats were soo fresh compares to other places, it is freshly sliced and rolled on the spot. Hand made dumplings and noodles = must get!!

I gave 4/5 only cause it is pricey but understandable. I wish theute was set menus with a variety of everything for a reasonable price so everyone can try.
Mwaeats
This place is nice with premium wagyu meat and also the kurobuta pork😍 They provide high quality seafood as well! The hotpot soup base is also good and for those that don't want to share their pot this is ideal! The interior design is so fancy with very comfortable chairs😁

The service is really attentive but I didn't like the way in which they kept moving our food to dishes when we had a few pieces left. It felt like we had to hurry to eat even though there is a 2hr eating window.

However, it is a an EXTREMELY pricey for hotpot. We ordered quite a bit because the group had large eaters. So if you're group has people who eat a lot I wouldn't recommend this place. This place also doesn't have a large variety of balls and meat except for the premium beef.

Also you would need to arrive early to get a table. My friend arrived at 5.30 to get notified that there would be around an hour wait😱 luckily we had to get some things so that helped reduce our waiting time but it did become a 1hr 15min wait.

I would probably come back to eat on a special occasion but not anytime soon.
Gugu_Chailatte
Fresh and high quality meats and seafood. Highly recommend the marbled wagyu. Seafood is very fresh and sweet too.
The service is prompt and friendly. The charge for the condiments actually includes fruits and soft serve ice cream cones too!!!
The only downside is the price. 😝 We spent more than $60 per pax but the quality justifies it.Ericson Chow

Weather calls for hotpot ... Here I am.

For those people who don't like to share Hotpot this place got you. Individual hot pot for each person.

This place is know for their premium beef and live seafood, so I'm here to try their beef.

Amazing beef with great quality, since it's from Osawa supplier I expected nothing less than premium.
There are ranges of type of beef on the menu but my love goes to the A5 Japanese beef, it melts in your mouth but comes at a price.

You can go simple and order set meats and a pot to yourself which as well.

If you have a big party they have private rooms for you as well.

#thedolarshop #hotpot
@asianfoodninja #asianfoodninja

This place is busy around dinner time. Bookings are recommended but if you’re like us, looking for a last min place to eat don’t be deterred by the waiting time. The staff bring out snacks while you wait. Once inside the service is friendly, attentive and efficient. There’s a self service sauce bar and the food is real good too with a variety of veggie, top cut meats, fresh seafood and other trimmings but it is a little pricey. For two adults our bill came to $160 excluding drinks. Ice cream at the end is complimentary.
I recommended:
* Wagu beef platter
* Prawn paste (mince balls)
* Handmade noodles
* Pork & Prawn wonton

My feedback to the restaurant, have more variety and a better selection at the fruit bar.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience here at the Dolar Shop tonight. The food was amazing and (I would say) better than other popular Chinese hotpot places in Sydney such as Yu Xiang or Hai Di Lao.

But what impressed us the most was their service - it’s just above and beyond. Everyone had a smile on their faces when serving customers and responded so promptly. Particularly a waitress named Abbie Huang. Please thank her on our behalf for her absolute professionalism and extreme kindness (our table number was A06 and we were seated at 8.30pm).

Keep on the good work and we will definitely be back (:

I had an amazing experience at Dolar Shop, even upon entering the staff were very welcoming and warm. We were seated quickly, and we ordered a few dishes. The sauce bar had a lot of variety, and a must try is their special dolar shop sauce.

The broths were flavourful which I loved and the meats were super tender, even the cheaper cuts. Definitely recommend to come here with a small group of people!!

I have been recommended The Dolar Shop on numerous occasions and finally had a chance to try it out. I really enjoyed the soup base and everything else we ordered. Look forward to my next visit.

This is my favourite hot pot in Sydney so far! I’ve been here a few times for dinner since it’s opened and it’s always been a good experience - from the food to the service! They serve meat that’s always freshly sliced when ordered and at high quality, the best meat I’ve had at hot pot!! The soups are also amazing. My favourite is the Pork bone one! So good I could just drink the soup by itself.

Food is slightly more expensive compared to other hotpot places, but worth your money. The food you get is fresher, better quality, and they also have a selection of handmade balls. I liked the sauce and sides selection, as well as the fruit available if you pay for sauce. Staff were attentive and very polite. Good variety on the menu, as well as already cooked dishes and desserts (the banana pancakes were so good!). Definitely recommend if you don’t mind spending a little more.

five star restaurant 💫💫💫💫💫what a great experience here at the Dolar shop! I've never been to a Chinese restaurant with such fantastic customer service. every staff member literally would turn around to say hi and welcome. The staff were so welcoming So you order your own broth and share your hotpot toppings with those on your table. Great variety and also good quality The food comes out pretty quickly and the staff who come over are very friendly. They ask you if you've been before and give you advice on how long to cook the meat for. It was really a great experience The meat quality is also superb. Melts in your mouth and is brought to you fresh. overall experience was so pleasant and the quality of the ingredients was refreshing. I'd highly recommend coming here for your first hotpot experience.also I want to say big thanks to Erico one of the staff 👌he is amazing and he explained to us everything.amaziiiiiiiiiiig customer service good on you Ericaaaaa.five star customer service💫💫💫💫💫

Pork leg bone soup was delicious. Freshly made cuttlefish balls were special as well. Produce was very fresh. Highly recommend. Would gladly eat there again but you need to book ahead.

Really delicious, high - end hotpot style dining, friendly waiters and a really nice selection of sauces. The matcha ice cream really made the night. Would have given 5 stars however the wine pours are definitely smaller than a lot of other restaurants in this price range

Omg this is the best place for hotpot !! Very good flavourful soup broth and great choices of quality meat. Always craving for this hotpot when it's raining.

Had a really great dining experience here. Food was really fresh (not frozen), the ingredients were premium. Their signature dipping sauce was unique and super delicious. Service was probably the best I have received at a chinese restaurant in Sydney, the waiters were very attentive, friendly without being in your face. Only downside was that it is pricey for a hotpot meal, but given the quality of the ingredients I think it’s worth it. Definitely will be back.

Mmmmm....what a great experience here at Dolar shop! I’ve never been to a Chinese restaurant with such fantastic customer service. Upon arrival, there was a 20 minute wait so we were provided some fruit sticks, lollies, lemon water and plum juice. Upon entering the restaurant, every staff member literally would turn around to say hi and welcome. The staff were so welcoming.

So you order your own broth and share your hotpot toppings with those on your table. They have this really yummy sauce called the dolar soy sauce. The staff member will offer to make this for you. It tastes great. There is also a whole row of other sauces which you can choose from. Great variety and also good quality.

The food comes out pretty quickly and the staff who come over are very friendly. They ask you if you’ve been before and give you advice on how long to cook the meat for. It was really a great experience.

The meat quality is also superb. Melts in your mouth and is brought to you fresh. Although the hotpot broth isn’t the best I’ve had and was more on the salty side (had the schezuan flavour one), the overall experience was so pleasant and the quality of the ingredients was refreshing. I’d highly recommend coming here for your first hotpot experience.

The Sydney location is the first Dolar shop I've ever been too, and it reminds me a lot of Haidilao. There is a central kitchen area where you can see all the ingredients being freshly cut and prepared. The atmosphere is great here, and is clearly quite high end compared to typical hot pot joints.

Soup bases here are exquisite, and honestly if you're eating hot pot out, the soup is the differentiating factor (most other ingredients can be bought for a fraction of the cost at an Asian grocer, sliced meat can be sourced from Asian butchers). Personal favourite is the tomato oxtail, rich and flavourful.

Good variety of homemade fish balls, cuttlefish and fish roe is great. Lots of choices of high end beef, but I actually find there is no need to splurge as their lamb and brisket are the most suitable options for hot pot, anything better is kind of a waste being boiled. Seafood is priced decently and their handmade noodles are great too.

Sauce station has excellent variety. They will bring around condiments that make up their own siganture sauce mix, which goes quite nicely with beef.

Overall a great place to splurge with friends once in a while.
