Great place that has been here forever to buy takeaway bulk frozen dumplings (recommend the duck dumpling), plus they have lots of Asian pastries and sweets (favorite is pak tong guo - very fresh and soft), as well as hot food for takeaway or eat in (dumplings, spring rolls, bao). Service is quick and friendly.
Ho's has been around since I first came to Sydney in 1980, the taste is the best one can eat, due to the food itself taste like what in Hong Kong cooking is. will always have something whenever I am in Sydney Chinatown, very reasonable much cheaper than what is being sold and eaten at the most reputable restaurant in Sydney NSW. importantly they are super fresh even though frozen items are great taste items, to be eaten and enjoyed. very nice for house parties dim sim's items excellent for serving to the guest, I do that every time I have a gathering and party.
Dim Sims are pretty ordinary here but the BBQ Pork Glutinous Rice Pancake is Extraordinary. Don't waste your time on eating other stuff. Go for the pancake. Its texture is so soft it almost melts in your fingers. The stuffing inside consists of succulent BBQ pork and has well balanced sweet & salty flavours. Just for the pancake I give this bear 4 bears.
Located next to the Boon Cafe, I was excited to see a Chinese Dim Sim eatery like Ho's. Although you can not expect that someone will serve you the dim sims like Yum Cha, there are plenty of demands that peoples like to enjoy dim sims at their comfortable homes. Had a browse and appreciated the varieties that they offer. Besides dim sims, there are plenty of Chinese pastries like Lotus Seed Cakes and Red Bean Cakes as well as some cold dishes like shredded salted chicken, spicy chicken and chicken frets. Prices are all reasonable. Needless to say, I brought some back to Brisbane for my family.....
I love this place for the custard pancakes. Plus the egg custard sticky rice balls. And the baked pork buns.
Over the years, the menu items have shrunk, and the prices have increased but their refurbishment last year means that it is a much nicer place to dine in.
There is also an expansive frozen and refrigerated section where you can pick up packets of Chinese buns and dumplings for a quick meal at home.
Service can be a hit or miss here.
This appears to be a kind of bulk dim sum (dumpling) shop but we only ever buy egg tarts from here. We've bought both the Cantonese and the Portuguese egg tarts and they're both fantastic. Fresh flaky pastry and the filling is really made with egg. They're also really good value too!!
Odd mix of University food court and frozen dumpling wonderland.
Very cheap dim sum goodies to buy to eat immediately, although almost all fried.
Bulk stocks of take-home dumplings are what you come here for. 50 dim sims, and 50 prawn dumplings are now in the freezer, together with smaller packs of vegetarian dumplings and pork buns. Catering for blow-ins and impromptu family gatherings never looked so easy. I have no doubt that these tidbits are the basis of many yum Cha restaurant offerings, bought wholesale on the quiet.
And you can order online with a few days notice and they'll deliver for free if you buy enough. We always buy enough 😎. Very reasonably priced too.
Just a few minutes walk away from Metro Hotel is a great go-to place for yum cha snacks be it for breakfast or pick-me-up snacks. Good customer service and great yum cha stuff. Definitely will come back for a future visit to Sydney one day
Loved the Portuguese egg tart from them! SO crispy and fresh! Yummm! We live opposite and whenever we crave for some snacks we will go down and grab some nice dim sum from them.
I love yum cha because I get to eat as soon as I sit down. And Ho's is a similarly satisfying source of instant gratification. They have a lot of different dim sum, which are reasonably priced, of ok quality and are ready to go. They also sell frozen dim sum that you can take home - once again, super high convenience factor!
It's easy, it's quick, and they've got a big selection. You get what you pay for, and have come to get: an irresistable dumpling snack when you're in the area and nothing else will do.
It's better to get frozen food though, to impress your friends with at dinner parties (or to secretly steam up that sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf and eat it all to yourself).
Some of the treats look a little greasy and dodgy (and I remember the soup dumpling as being particularly disappointing) but some of the other dishes are OK. Har gow and sui mai are just OK. Coconut balls and Malaysian steamed cake are not bad, I think. The deep fried little spaceship with meat inside is pretty good.
Tasty dim sims, even the frozen ones are really good! Asian supermarkets like Tonyon also sell the frozen ones from Ho's Dim Sim Kitchen. The pork and prawn Siu Mai is my favourite.
This place is just the best for Dim Sim!. I'm not going to elaborate too much just know that the place is small but the choice is ginormous and these hand made Dim Sim are heavenly tasty!...
Dim Sim lovers, don't go anywhere else!
(not really a restaurant.. it is a takeaway/DimSim Shop)
Not just dim sims. You'll find a plethora of edible Chinese goodies at this bustling joint in Haymarket. Not only do they do handmade dim sims, you can also get dumplings, steamed buns and custard tarts. These guys also wholesale to restaurants and supermarkets and even do catering.
Ho’s Dim Sim is no longer trading at 429A Pitt St, Haymarket 2000. Their products are now available at 20 Meeks Rd, Marrickville 2204.
All items are hand made in-house from locally sourced ingredients, available to the public at wholesale prices. Better than ever! You can call or order online.
Cheap and tasty dim sim shop where you can buy and eat on the spot or uncooked ones to take home. price is friendly and very convenient.

Its mainly Thai take away, but the frozen dim sim is very good quality and value. They have a frozen take away section that is great! All bulk buys like 50 x sui mai for $35. We have been using a microwave steamer to heat up these yummy Dim sims... try the jumbo prawn Har Gows! Yum!
Best pork buns I've had in a long time, perfectly steamed and not gluggy or glutinous, as they can sometimes be. Portuguese tarts are a unique take and very nice. Not a lot of seating, but a great place to get a quick snack.
