Review 85 Cafe - Sydney

Sometimes I buy a bubble tea at 85 degree cafe. There are many breads and cakes. Bubble tea and some drinks were always too sweet. But I like many pearls in cup . Not bad

Bought a chocolate mud cake today. Have never tried anything else that received poor reviews in this post, but I found the chocolate mud cake moist with intense chocolate flavor. The cream that it was decorated with was buttercream, and strawberry glazed, which was perhaps to increase longevity of the cake, but did not detract from the cake. All in all a good cake for a last minute decision without pre-ordering. Service was efficient with minimal chit chat which was fine by me today.

85c Hurstville, bad customer service. A few issues happened in the same time. We bought cakes and some drinks and it was hot inside the store, we noticed two free standing aircon but both were off. The staff at the counter refused to turn on the aircon as the manager is on duty. Secondly they forgot to make my friends drink until we asked them at the counter. Need to review the SOP for this store especially for customer service section.

I love the Asian style cakes here, that is lot of cream and light and fluffy cakes. This is a go to place when i'm after a nice treat. For work functions where I need a cake for a colleagues birthday cant go past the mango cheese

Friendly customer service however cake is average.

None of these items tastes like it should. We tried the "tiramisu", "creme brûlée", "Black Forest" and others, and all were incredibly disappointing. There's no taste other than sugar and cheap, artificial ingredients. The "lemon tart" was an overcooked flan filled with lemon paste. I wonder if those two elements were cooked separately. In short: This place is crap. Don't waste your money. Also don't try to pay with eftpos because even if your order comes to $19.70 they'll make you buy another piece of tasteless crap to bump the order over the $20 minimum.

This bakery originated in Taiwan. In Taiwan itself, they are not famous for quality. It's just about convenience, like 7-11, to grab a quick drink and some sweets. Don't expect good quality pastries and coffee from them because it's not what they can provide.

The food is starting to become less and less fresh , Sure they have covers over the pastries by when you see a blowfly buzzing trapped inside for a good ten minutes you have to walk away.

Impressed by their salt strawberry drink at the central park store. I wanted to try their uji matcha with cheese top drink. It was not that impressive, the matcha is fine but cheese top was too little. Duan bro will be furious I believe. Am I right Xihuahua 🐶 ?

This is an abridged version of the outlet which doesn't offer any bread products, and only sell drinks & cakes. I got a couple of slices, the tiramisu and the coffee passion. Both were average, ratio more heavy on the cream then sponge cake. The tiramisu completely lacked coffee taste. The coffee passion was very similar, but had a bit more coffee taste through the sponge. More like eating a slab of cream then cake.

Average bakery with lots of choices. They also sell drinks. I saw a fly inside the display, just hanging around the food...Service could be improved.

Lovely bakery shop at the Sydney Cbd. Its just across world square. Always coming back to get their shallot pork floss. But, I realize that the size of the shallot pork floss is getting smaller. I also like their read bean bun and shallot bread.

Today I went there. I said 'Hi' to the shop staff who had a name badge 'Carrie' or something. She glanced at me while sipping her drink without smiling or greeting. Then she turtle-like slowly came to the counter and when I ordered a slice of cake, she just said 'one slice?' and I said 'yes'. Then she put a change on the counter even I was in front of her!!! Then she got me the cake she said 'cake's ready' without SMILE and GREETING!!!How did you hire this staff who has 0 skills in hospitality? I'll never gonna go there as long as she exists!! She totally messed up my day!!! At least you have to train her to say 'Hello''Thank you' with a smile!!!!! It is on George Street which only serves cakes.

Love the soft fluffy bread here. My favourite would be the shallot bread($2.10), bread is buttery and soft and the shallots add a nice flavour. Great range and great value for money

I wasn't impressed by the service at this store. The cashier was rushed and frowning. The yellow lights and loud noise was somewhat unpleasant. The custard bun was light and fluffy, however the nann used a powdered cheese which wasn't too my taste

A tiny bakery shop on George Street. I love their Strawberry Rolls. I usually buy one for breakfast. The taste is little sweet.
Sometimes you'll have to queue for check out.
You can also make a book on whole cakes. It seems like no one buys panna cotta. Once I visited the shop at late night, there are still plenty of panna cottas left in the refrigerator.

Hmm... the cakes here are not as amazing as the way it used to be. The cakes taste stale and kind of tasteless. I recently had a Breadtop cake and although it wasn't as fancy it definitely tasted a lot better and way~ cheaper. I don't think I will buy another cake or desert from here again unfortunately.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Wonderfully soft and fluffy chocolate cake with cream and fresh strawberries. Slices well and paper plates and picks and provided with the cake to take away.

Got the chocolate cake and it was rather average. I would probably go somewhere else next time. Had got this for a friends birthday. Rather dissapointing.

So many cute cakes to choose from! I’ve only tried the bear and piggy, and both have been pleasant. Definitely more for the novelty than anything but if it’s going to put a smile on your face, why not. Bought many a cake for birthdays and whatnot – bound to please any bday boy/girl!

The beautiful display attracted me but I was disappointed by the quality. For a place to be in George street and having so many branches I thought it would be exceptionally amazing but I left with shattered hopes. Ordered hokkaido cheese and Swiss devil chocolate Both were stale. I don't think it was today's stock ....

The worst customer service , absolutely no idea. 85 degrees management need to focus on training their staff .
Take your business elsewhere plenty of great cake stores in Sydney !
I certainly will never go there nor will I recommend it to anyone I know .

With our dinner at the markets in mind, Queen V and I had purchased cakes from 85 Degrees Cafe to enjoy at the hotel after dinner. . My regular readers will know that this is one of my all time favourite cafes, with their cakes and drinks, its a must go for me every time I go to Sydney. My drink of choice is always the 85 Degrees Coffee, which I find to be exceptionally fragrant, not very acidic and without foam on top. Like many of the bubble tea joints, I prefer to have it with a reduced sugar content.

The taste of cake is so-so
Nothing special

The decorations of the cake is nice
And then, the staff... some of them not friendly...
They wanna serve us really fast and quick!!
They don't give us any chance to ask

The price is still ok

Some cake is not fresh and little bit broken, they will sell it, discount.....

Great place to buy a birthday cake - so much variety from green tea and white chocolate mousse cakes to delicious tiramisu cakes. Admittedly, a reliable place for the last minute birthday cake for a friend because they always have a few left towards end of day.

The desserts look very tempting but I went here for your standard Bubble Milk Tea. I always believe in trying your "classics" when going to a new place. I had the hot version in a rainy evening and must say it was pretty good. I wouldn't say it's fantastic but pretty average and standard. I was definitely not disappointed. Will have to come back for the desserts!

Visited your Burwood store on 27 December 2015 in the afternoon and ordered a pearl milk tea. There was not much of a line, however the couple in front of me pre-ordered many cakes. As some staff went to get their cakes the person at the counter took my order. What should have only taken a few minutes to make, took over 10 minutes. There were 4 staff behind the counter. I understand that the people in front had a large order but surely you could spare 1 staff member to make my drink. In the end i realised they actually forgot my order (i guess too busy fussing over the large order). I also work in customer service and can assure you that if i treated customers poorly i doubt that they would return. Oh, and to top it off i missed my train and had to wait 18 minutes for the next service.

In China patisseries like this are extremely popular and everywhere; but in Sydney they are few and far between. Although not as good as the 85 degrees in Asian countries but a good place to get Asian style cakes and desserts.

I just wanna drop my negative feedback for the customer service. When I tried to get the Creme Brulee in the fridge, I didn't know that I had to ask the staff to open the fridge & take it for me. And just by the time that I saw the small paper of notification, the girl in a cashier just said out loud: "You have to ask us to open it and take it for me!!", So I just, suddenly, stepped back & then she just just her finger to point at me & mock the finger up (just like calling a dog). This made me extremely piss off.
My obsession with panna cotta started after i tried theirs. It came in a small cup consisting of a lightly set cream with strawberry compote on top. It was fresh and tangy. Their tiramisu is equally good and had a good hint of coffee.

They have an attractive display of cakes at the windows that looks very tempting, however, we were a lil disappointed at the taste.

We seem to buy a lot of cakes from here however, because it's situated right on George Street in front of Skyview plaza & every time we walk pass, my 2 yr old would scream for cakes at their window display. Service is not very good, the shop girls could smile a bit more.

The 85° Bakery Cafe in Hurstville opened quite a while ago, and I've tried quite a few items from them, but never actually taken any pictures. In my most recent trip, I bought 3 types of cakes, in order to try and figure out a cake to buy for Mummy's birthday. Cakes are as following:
Then the best part was the cake underneath, I always can't believe how milky it tasted and mesmerized by how such texture was formed. For anyone who loves cheesecakes, you got to try this one!
I do like their assortment of single served cakes, their white chocolate chiffon thingy was amazing, mouthgasm!!!

...famous for its adorable looking and great assortment of pastries. The outlet in Sydney CBD is not huge but its display window is still filled with so many mouth watering temptations.

His favourite dishes of peking duck and steamed scallops are ordered but to me, abalone always comes first!

85 degrees is a Taiwanese franchise that has over 300 stores at home. They expanded to Sydney in 2006 and this is their flagship store on George street, within cooee of other asian franchises Menya Mappen and Pepper Lunch . The place basically serves cakes and coffee, although the expensive rent on George street means they strongly encourage takeaway - it's a small shop with very few chairs. Walter thought the strawberry sponge (above) was delicious, he'd be keen for us to go to 85 degress everyday. I'm less fond of my cheesecake , which was difficult to penetrate and was heavily perfumed. The company's name come from their coffee - apparently 85 degrees centigrade is the ideal temperature to enjoy your coffee. According to the company "Under this temperature, you can taste the sweetness, bitterness and sourness of the premium made coffee...". But it's just not any coffee, we tried the 85 degrees coffee with added sea salt . The company reckons ""Sea salt, which is also called ocean sa

Have tried to go here a few times now... $20 eftpos, no pay pass, machine not working... It's always too hard for these people to make any effort! If they're not going to bother serving people they should just close

BAD SERVICE EVER!. I Went there quite often, me and my friend were a regular customer who spent above $15 every transaction since 2012. just very disappointing with the staff on that day, my friend went there on 02/08/2014 85 Degree store on George st around 8PM and the girl who serve her was very unfriendly, bad service ever! she bought a milk tea and cake, and after just asking for hot water for her baby, because she need hot water for baby milk as they living in Blakeville and baby need to milk, but we just surprised when the staff (girl with glasses) talking out loud and saying "NO HOT WATER FOR YOUR BABY" and my friend just shocked, how come she did that? we asked that friendly and we bought something, we are not coming and just ask without buying anything. there is no respect at all, I just dont know how this is happenned and how that girl can work for 85 degree store (is she been trained well?) again my friend tried to asked because she really need hot water, but again she just scream NO HOT WATER FOR YOUR BABY! this is very bad service i've ever known, at the end my friend running to SHARE TEA next door where we never buy anything from them not even once, she just asked for hot water and willing to pay just for hot water believe it or not the SHARE TEA STAFF said "oh of course you can get hot water and no need to pay because it is for your baby" after all this we might consider next time just buy something from people that care each other than 85 degree just think about money and no respect for human at all. I am not blaming anyone, I just want you guys to know, when people need help as you guys can help WHY NOT? yes it was only HOT WATER but do you know how it feels for a MOM that really need for her baby, did you feel shame with SHARE TEA NEXT DOOR TO YOU, they even more have that human feeling than your staff. please trained your staff well. for sure we will never ever come back again. and just for you to know you just have lost 6 of your regular customer who have been helping your business since 2012. Thank you for the experienced.

This is the only cake shop opens at night in CBD & looks so tempted. Cakes outside the fridge are still ok like cup cheesecake but not any of beautiful looking cakes. Hokkaido cheesecake was so soggy & liquid spread all over on the bottom of hardened sponge. The name of cake ruins the town.
Jodie
Bought a small cheesecke here. I can say its the worse cheesecake Ive ever had so far. The cheese is tasteless, the sponge cake underneath is super soggy, and again, tasteless. The crumble cover is super hard. To sum up, I would better off with a cheesecake from Emperor bakery from Chinatown for 2/3 the price and much better quality! Will not recommend! Stay away!

85 Degrees of Disappointment!. As we walked past this bakery on George Street, we were enticed by the immaculate & inviting presentation of the desserts but the taste unfortunately left a very bad taste in our mouth.
Ebonyandlace
Mixed feelings.. Presentation/appearance is a plus as they look pretty damn good (some of them - maybe quite alot of them) - BUT.. unfortunately after i get sucked into buying one, taste-wise is abit of a letdown. Don't remember any that have left a lasting impression unfortunately.
