Famous Chinese style brunch. Yum Cha meaning ‘Tea & Dim Sum’ always makes Teddy Happy. The chicken feet on top left corner is for the brave and adventurous appetite. It’s like Vegemite, you either love it or hate it. You can get decent Yum Cha at not over the top price. It’s always good to realise that we can have good Yum Cha in Sydney. I give this place 4 bears
Excellent service and serve speed! I and Xihuahua 🐶 enjoyed a succulent Chinese breakfast. Their food is high quality and well made! I specifically wanted to have the youtiao doujiang combo and it did not disappoint! Good value as well! They take cards with no hassles!
Great place to unwind after a shopping spree at Paddy's. Located just at the entrance of the famous Chinatown gate, you can hardly miss it . It was a warm breezy afternoon , so we enjoyed our cantonese treats with some street view. The prawn dumpling was a repeat on our table ..given we were a set of seafood lovers . We ordered 2 chicken dishes both braised - one stir fried in Sichuan sauce and the other cooked in a mini pot with spicy Wine sauce, the latter is highly recommended ! Although it's called a "spicy sauce"..it is not hot but a little more salty. The portions are generous enough and a plate of fried rice or noodles (we ordered Singapore Noodles) can be shared by 2. Custard buns are a must have at this place..but make sure you order it towards the end of your meal..cause it tastes best when had warm. The food is amazing but a bit on the pricey end, so do not expect it to be a street food place. Expect a bill of approx 180 for 4 people (beer, starter mains, mains and dessert). The service is a bit slow at wee hours , otherwise the staff is very warm and welcoming. All you have to do is be very specific with your order!

We heard the term “Chinese tapas” used to describe yum cha and it seemed quite appropriate. It really sums up what yum cha involves to a more Australian/European mind set. We love it though. It’s such a great way to sample a variety of small dishes at lunch time. Emperors Garden are at the end of Dixon St on the intersection with Hay St in Chinatown and have been churning out yum cha for quite a while now. We were there for a quick lunch and yum cha is perfect when you’re in a rush.
Omg!!! Really yummy! Ppl were like these 5 dishes are the top in the chef recommendation!
They are:
1. Homemade special curried beef brisket hot pot
2. Lean pork and century eggs congee 🥣
3. Braised beancurds with Chinese mushroom 🍄
4. King prawns 🍤 with scrambled eggs
5. Stir fired broccoli 🥦 with smashed garlic
All five stars 🌟 !!!!
Nice to seat outside rather than inside!
Steamed purple bun with sweet potato filling was just okay its best you combined with hot green tea.
Chives and prawn filling dumpling, the skin wasnt soft compared to other dumpling and the filling was okay not wow.
King prawn dumpling - the skin was softer than the chives and prawn and I like this filling.
Rice long noodle with prawn - this was my favourite but they might have steamed it too long because it was breaking apart but they give a big prawn compared to other yum cha.
Shrimp dumpling was good.
Chicken feet was my mom go to food but she love it alot and say this was the best one she eat so far than other yumcha
Altogether it was around $70, not bad that how we usually eat also include 2 cup of green tea. Overall food does come out slow and there food that you cant see on the carton you have to ask the staff to bring out a dish you want.

This place has been here for years and is always busy and popular with locals and tourists. There are also lots of Chinese families eating here which is great. During the day you can't go past yum cha and there is a good variety of dishes on offer and all comes out steaming hot on various trolleys. The prawn dumplings and seafood dumplings are fine. As are the vegetarian dumplings. I enjoyed the sticky rice parcels with chicken more and the steamed radish cake. The tofu parcels were delicious and tasty. Mango pancakes were a huge let down with the pancake falling apart, mango not being fresh and stingy amount of cream. Service can be very abrupt depending on which waiter you get. The bill adds up quickly as most dishes are classified as extra large so at $9.20 a pop.
This place is pretty good. The food is great and the service was good as is the usual at Yum Cha restaurants. I prefer The Eight across the road but it is still good yum cha.
Please people you have to come here and try their beef brisket curry.
The brisket is so tender it just melts in your mouth and the potatoes are out of this world. The curry is creamy and it was made to be lathered in rice.
This is honestly one of Sydney's best dishes that I've tried.
Everything else is neither good nor bad. The service is friendly. And it's a great location.
Pro tip: ask for some emperor puffs to cap of your meal. saves you from lining up in the cold during the winter
I love this restaurant. The yum cha is amazing as is the a la carte menu. Classics like the steamed pork bun, taro duck, mango pancakes are beautifully done. Ordering "authentic" dishes makes the waiters nervous which colours my visits unfortunately. However almost all is forgotten once the food arrives. Life long customer.
Hmmm..surprisingly good. Siew Mai: meaty with good size prawn, Prawn Dumpling: slightly juicy inside and thin skin, Pheonix Feet (braised chicken feet): not too soft or overcooked, just the way I liked it. Lastly the Beancurd roll: good fillings but I ate better somewhere. Price is ok and if you are around also try their buns next door. I will come back next time when I am in Sydney.
If this is not an establishment, then what is? The Emperor Garden brand already existed before the significant numbers of migration of Asians to Sydney and Australia in general since the 1990s and especially in the past ten years or so. Today EG has several divisions in its business - soya bean products, meat butchers, noodle and roast meat retail, cakes and baking - in addition to yum cha and dining.
The food is good, I still can enjoy it
The price quite expensive
I don't eat all of this...
Because some of the foods it's weird for me hehehe
The example is bloody pudding
In my traditions, That's foods it's really good for your healthy, clean our lung :)
I don't eat it...
And the chicken feet hehehe... It's the expensive one in my country....
And the porridge, they cook it with vegetable and egg from the black chicken
For the eggs, it's already soaked with the tea
So the taste is different
Okay... So... the staff... Some of them, can't speak English.. So make sure you bring someone can speak mandarin
And make sure you must remember what's your order, other ways, they may be bring you the wrong one
I like the BBQ Pork buns
And deep fried glutinous balls with custard
I like the normal foods hahaha
If you're wanting a 2015 foodie experience where Chinese meets Molecular Gastronomy then best keep moving.
If you want classic Chinese flavours, top quality service and a relaxed dining experience at reasonable prices Emperors is worth a look.

Good Yum Cha, just like any other yum cha....
Other than yum cha, they also are pretty yummy during dinner. Especially after your meal when you get given dessert! The last time I went, they gave us cream puffs from the bakery which were delicious!
Classic yum Cha in the heart of Chinatown. The dumplings are great, although limited in variety. Open early, quick to get in and out and value for money. Not the best but certainly not the worst.
Only try the Yum Cha because it opens early 7 days. Dim Sims are so so.... and service is too proficiency that shows no sincere hospitable manner. It may be the common problem of Yum Cha place unless you go to some very elegant but expensive resturants, however, there is no guarantee!
Drumroll please...what we were waiting for...what we went to yum cha for....CHICKEN FEET! Oh how I adore you chicken feet! At first you scared me so much, but now there is a place for you close to my heart.
The only bad thing about duck pancakes is that they eventually run out.
Suckling pig. We went here last night for the suckling pig banquet (off a Scoopon voucher). It was pretty good. We were show the (cooked) pig a few minutes after sitting down, then we worked our way through crispy skin pancakes, pork san choy bao, pork and vegetables, and pork congee. It delivered exactly what was promised and was very tasty too!
Better then Merigold!. One of the family favorites and cheap eats is Emperor’s Garden Restaurant on the Cnr of Dixon & Hay Street in China Town. You go up to the front, inform the staff of the size of your dining party, grab a ticket and wait for your number to be called out. It was a nice day so the 10-minute wait or so was more than pleasant.
A few advantages to visiting Emperor Garden Yum Cha House over Marigold; Food is better quality, the staff are friendly & helpful and it is cheaper!
Below are some dishes we had:
• BBQ Duck
• Steamed Prawn Dumplings
• Soft Shell Crab
• Prawn noodles
• Deep Fried Prawn Dumplings
• Pork Dumplings
• Custard Egg Tart
• Chinese Tea
• Many others dishes....
You get to eat a wide variety of different dishes, it pays to have a bigger group as you get to eat more things and this in turn means being able to catch up with friends & family. I had a really enjoyable time and will be returning.
Had dinner here on Christmas night. The waiters were friendly though could have advised us better on our orders. We ordered fried kai-lan not knowing that another dish that we ordered had a generous side serving of kai-lan. The portions were huge and we were not advised to scale down on our order as I would expect a good waiter to do. The service was otherwise exceptional. The waiter helped us hail a cab even though it was raining heavily. Food was good...no complains about it at all.
Great choice of yum cha. Average service. Decor could use a face lift. Open 7am to 2am
The yum cha!. Went for an early lunch with a friend and had the best yum cha!! Ate way more than we should have, but it was worth it.
Good yum cha and consistently palitable food with all the options in the area you might miss it make sure you give it a go... Fried crab is nice although I think it has some MSG the rest of the food is good.
I probably wouldn't have ended up here if I didn't pick up one of those tourist guides that you get for free at the visitor centres. It was good dim sum, most of the items were standard fare, but the beef rice rolls were above average. The service was decent, the restaurant looked clean, seemed like there were a lot of regular customers, but the dim sum lunch was a little pricey at $45 for 2
My choice dim sum restaurant in Sydney. Great food at affordable-ish prices. Go on a weekday morning/afternoon when the staff is less frazzled and more helpful.
Old fashioned service with excellent menu. Best duck in Chinatown. You can't go wrong.0
Emperor's Puffs! You can go inside for a great meal, but if you feel like munching on good creamy puffs, you won't be disappointed. Just look outside, there is a hole in the wall, usually with a long waiting line. Worths the wait !
Old school yum cha. Been coming here for years. Always popular amongst the local Asians. We had lots like 10 different things the bill came to $100 for two people.
Service is amazing, the staff are so warm and welcoming!
The food was subpar for the price, the most enjoyable dish was the egg tarts and cheong fun (rice noodle)
There is always a line for the puffs. The texture and everything was nice, but it just wasn’t my thing. You still have to stop by and try. It’s very cheap.
