Looking for traditional asian cuisine?? Then this is the place to go to! I super adore their pigs ears dish! It was quite interesting and delicious! And their tea tree soup is something you would want to get if you are on the onset of catching a cold! The right portion! And it contains all the essential ingredients for helping you obtain all the nutrients needed! And the bean curd was also good too! Good to munch down with a bowl of rice!

Char kway teow

The soup is so good is kinda traditional chinese soup where is combined between duck, mushroom, carrot and red dates especially good for drinking in winter.

Wandered into this restaurant yesterday evening on random chance and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Had the curry chicken, french beans flash fried with golden duck egg yolks and char kuey teow. Although the place bills itself as fusion Asian, the cooking had an authentic Malaysian touch and, importantly, the servings were right sized (not pretentiously small or mutantly upsized for Aussie blokes).

The most surprising thing was the service, which is usually (even at quality SE Asian places in Sydney) brusque and brutally efficient at best. Impressed my Western dining companion by bringing his beer shortly after ordering. Impressed me with bringing the food orders shortly after even though the place was quite full (Incidentally, all were Asian diners except for my dining companion - bonus points for snagging an elderly Chinese grandma at the next table) - the kitchen is clearly Sorted. Complimentary prawn crackers at the beginning of the meal were also appreciated - fed the inner child! When we decided to doggy-bag the curry chicken, our waitress helpfully asked if we wanted extra steamed rice with it (we declined). Then when we were walking out, she pressed a takeaway pack of prawn crackers on us as well - totally unexpected in this day and age of modern Asian diners.

And the total price? Just under $70 for 3 mains, a beer and a mint lychee smoothie - on par with expectations for a non-food court superior non-date night Asian fusion weeknight dinner.

Minor things to improve: the chilli-hot factor in the mains was muted. Curry chicken was on the mild side (not a real issue in that dish tho). No chilli in the char kuey teow and none was volunteered at time of serving. That being said, when we asked, they happily and quickly brought both fresh cut chilli and a pretty neat sambal belachan. So all ended well on that front.

Would happily go back. And the ultimate test? Yes, I’d take my Malaysian Chinese mother there.

of an influx of Chinese migrants to Southeast Asia throughout the history.   When you step into Nanyang Tea Club located. in the 1909 Dining Precinct (see full dining guide of 1909 Dining Precinct. here), you would be transported to the tropical Malaysia and Singapore where. alluring British colonial design greets.

Lovely decor. I’ve been here twice, and every time I have to ask for my steam rice. The second time I had to ask three different staff to finally get my steam rice. It’s so disappointing. The food was good too. We saw the table next to us refilling Bak Kut teh like how they would in Singapore so we did the same. It would have been nice if was known. . Highly recommend the Bak Kut Teh, it’s so potent and authentic just like the Michelin star ones in Singapore. I wasn’t a fan of the hainanese chicken rice, chicken was good but the rice was kind of soggy for my liking. We also got the sambal morning glory and laksa which was really nice. I definitely would come back to try other items on the menu. I wish I had more stomach space to try the durian mountain dessert or the Green tea tree dessert.

Cheese boba Alaskan King Crab!!

Finally they had some new items on the menu. #bobacrabs

Don't knock it until you try it, the Crab is surrounded in cheese sauce and boba. It may look weird but it taste pretty good, the cheese is addictive and the crab was cooked perfectly. The nasi fried chicken was really good, tasty marinated fried chicken with blue coconut rice 😍 theres a really HOT Sambal on the side, make your you taste a bit first .... Or you'll regret it.

The Laksa is really good, not too heavy on the coconut cream and it's loaded with seafood and meats, the char siu was so tender and juicy, the steam chicken was tender and moist. A really good laska loaded with meats.

The char keuw teow was really good, they topped it up with shredded Alaskan King Crab ... Overall everything was tasty and I'm happy that they added more stuff on their menu.

Everything was delicious, mixture of chinese/malaysian food. I find that this place have the cheapest price on king crab, like it you will get more out these kind crab legs than a whole crab for a price of $38 i think if I didn’t remember wrong.
Better come early because we went there twice and twice the crab was sold out.

Food: 8.5/10
Staff: 7/10
Overall: 8/10

Love how they have styled the place here, like an actual tea club in the 70s. We ordered the bak kut teh, hainanese chicken rice ball and the deep fried steam bun which came with delicious chilli sauce! We really enjoyed all the dishes - tasty and reasonably priced! Service was amazing as well. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

Nan Yang Tea Club is a new Singaporean restaurant in 1909 Dining Precinct.
The decor is super nice. Everything including the kitchen and table is brand new.

We went there pretty late at 9PM. It seems that we’re the last customers for the day. However, the service is prompt and we had a great experience.

🇸🇬[Singapore Bak Kut Teh] $12.9
I would say their “Bak Kut Teh” is pretty similar to the one I had in Singapore. The pork rib is very soft and can be easily pulled from the bone. The broth contains white pepper which produces a very unique taste.

🦀️[Spicy chilli crab]
The chilli crab is not spicy but sweet. It’s not an entire crab but simply crab feet. I would not recommend this dish.

🥥[Coconut Chicken Soup] $15.9
The soup was in a big bowl. The soup has a strong coconut scent, incorporated with chicken.

🍷[Singapore Siling Ice Tea] $7.9
A very unique Singapore signature drink. The “Singapore Siling” has either hot tea or ice tea available. The ice tea is more tasty than the hot one from my perspective. It’s like fruit wine and is very sweet.

Located on top level of Market city shopping centre. Good dining environment with southern east Asia style. The service was good, very authentic Singaporean food, good price as well. A top choice for a gathering of several friends in a relaxing afternoon.

A GRADE quality Mud Crab, very tasty singapore chilli crab, worth what you pay for. Will come back again to try other flavours. Crispy prawn with salted egg and oats flakes is also recommed. Not cheap, but the dining experience met your expections.

One of the hidden gems at Haymarket for absolutely delicious Malaysian food. If you are driving to the city and don’t want to pay parking, simply dine at this amazing restaurant and get your parking ticket validated for free! My fav dish is a northern Malaysian dish- nasi kerabu, the decor of the place is gorgeous too, feeling very nostalgic eating here.

Good food, decent - generous servings, reasonably priced restaurant. It was a lovely experience dining here although the roti was a little bit bland, the Nasi Kerabu’s we ordered blended really nicely, the special spicy chilli paste had a really good kick that was beyond me and my partner’s tolerance and my lemongrass ginger mocktail was a really refreshing drink. There was a little bit of a wait for us to be seated on a Saturday night despite having free tables, and we were given other people’s order two times which we had to reconfirm with the staff if it was ours (just in case we ordered the wrong dishes), the restaurant must’ve also been understaffed during our visit as we had to wait long to place our orders alongside trying to get the waiter/ess’ attention as their online ordering system was not working at the time.

This was a great venue, the decor and food presentation was a stand out. Came here for late breakfast and was so hungry didn't get a chance to take much photos. The food all look so tasty and freaky enjoy the pate of sweets. Not all the food we had were spectacular, but it was all about experiencing something different. Great for sharing with family and friends
