Situated in Darling Quarter, it has a cosy seating area inside but the al fresco dining lures you outside even on a not so sunny day due to the area being covered so you’re protected from the elements. There are big wooden tables and benches for groups or small bar tables for two so plenty of choice if you wanted to grab a drink from the bar or settle in for a meal. The service is super friendly. Just need to order and pay at the bar. During the day they have Canteen by Taste which caters for the lunch crowd as well as their namesake, baguettes.
We were here for dinner and it they offer a compact menu but offers enough choice for even the fussiest eater. Started off with the Thai-style Crisp Soft Shell Crab And Raw Papaya Salad. It packs enough of a spice punch without being too hot and the salad was fresh and vibrant. The crab was well cooked and was quite tasty. The Pan Fried Salmon, Mixed Grain Salad, Harissa was a wonderful dish as well. the salmon was flaky with a lovely crisp piece of skin. The salad was a lovely complement which consisted of pearl couscous with broccolini, brussel sprouts, fennel, and oranges. It was a light dish which is perfect for this warmer weather. Finished off with pizza which they mentioned was brought back to their menu. We had the Double Smoked Ham. Good toppings and not overly fussy which is nice. The base held together well and tasty dish.
Taste Baguette in Darling Park is a popular eatery by local office workers during the week. It serves up delicious coffee, delicious pastries, Vietnamese Salads (if you get lunch early) and drool worthy baguette sandwiches for take away. It also has a pub/bar area where you can sit in for your meals and cocktails if you are thirsty. On this particular Saturday, I chill out in the bar area with Matt for some lunch. He has a sneaky beer while I relax to a delicious cosmopolitan. I let the atmosphere sink in while I people watch and sip on my cosmo.
Had their lunch time salads multiple times while i was in Sydney. Definitely a biiiig thumbs up , esp. as I'm a vegetarian. Totally worth the money (9+ AUD), with multiple options to choose from! And fast service during lunch hours.
Wondering if I could get the recipe for black rice salad ? Thanks!
Another cafe and bar located in Darling Quarter, and it's plenty busy in the mornings and afternoons. I find the coffee okay, but I enjoy the juices from here more! They are fresh and reasonably priced, and they have a good pre-set menu for these too. I like the side selection of pastries for when you need a sweet treat. Lunch options here are good too including the salad bar on the side which often serves a heavier option like pasta, and the usual baguettes that taste is known for. I like the additional salad boxes sold here too which are filled with spring rolls and plenty of herbs. In terms of the food itself, I find the salads good but sometimes lacking a little extra flavour, or seasoning. I like the selection though that is available! Service here is varied, and is usually friendly :) For drinks, Taste is actually one of my more liked options in the area with tasty bar food options, and quick service too. The cocktails are quite tasty as well!
Located at Darling Quarter, this cafe has covered outdoor seating and is a nice spot to relax for a coffee, breakfast, snack or lunch. The breakfast here are very generous & tasty, made & presented well. There is a range of cakes and pastries available as well as the usual baguettes. Service is good & fast and coffee is decent.
Great service. Food was good but they forgot my son's bacon or she forgot to put the side through. I ordered a tall black and it was ok, Wellington coffee is alot better haha. My son enjoyed his breakfast and I loved mine, the only negative was my bacon was a little fatty.
Small breakfast menu - but the food was terrific and great value - no decaf. But they also do a very good half strength coffee. Highly recommended for a hearty low cost feed.
Loveeee the moroccan lamb baguettes here. Its as good here as it is at the met centre. More lamb on the baguette would be nice but ive been back several time so im obviously a fan!
Among the clutter of cafes around the Darling Quarter, this is my fav cafe. Not because they serve Campos coffee but they have the tastiest baguettes. Around lunch although most of these get sold out rather quickly but i did manage to get my hand (and teeth) on their beef lemongrass one. I never knew the combination can be that orgasmic. There was sweetness from the aioli, the lemony zing from the lemongrass, the crunch of the salad and of course the perfectly cooked meat. If you are lucky enough to get your hand on one of these goodness after lunch time, the bonus is that you will get it for $5 only.
Also have to mention that their customer service is always on point. They are never grumpy, not even during the rush hour madness. So a huge thumbs up to them 👍
Haven't had any food or snacks here. But we used to go down to this place only for few beers. Loved this place. Usually super crowded on Fridays.
Coffee is ok. Danishes are better but my favourite is their "eggs benedict baguette". Pick one up as a take away and take a short walk to the harbour and eat it one the steps. Great way to start a day.

The “Wagyu Beef Burger” isn’t cheap at $17 on its lonesome, but does offer a thick and juicy patty with cheese, bacon, tomato jam, onion, lettuce and mayonnaise. It also comes on a brioche bun which I’m hoping is made in-house just like the baguettes. It’s not greasy and not too large – it can be eaten all together so that you get the whole burger experience of combined flavours. It is satisfying and I’m hoping Catty will get around to trying it to see how it compares on her list...
Amazing huge lunch meals- awesome steak and chicken avocado burger with fries! Plus $5 beer if the day on Sunday . Loved the food (very reasonably priced considering the size) and friendly service. Will be back with the kids
Had the pleasure of dining in at Taste today on the left hand side there is a bar serving bar snacks, pizzas & mains and on the right is the takeaway.
I really love the idea that the right side is for takeaway with seating out front available. They serve their farm fresh produce here with a salad bar and their famous baguettes which are still available on the left hand side as well.
The bar has some awesome craft beers on tap which is frequently rotated to showcase the latest and greatest available. They also have a great cocktail menu which I abaolutely loved, I highly recommend the New York sour or the Blueberry Sour.
Happy hour during the week is from 4-7pm & 4-8pm on Fridays.
The Pizza bases are made in house from 36hr sourdough, giving a good raise to the dough on the edges. I'm notorious for leaving the crusts, but theirs was actually so enjoyable I'd happily devour all of the crusts. I'd recommend the Prawn & sausage pizza or the Prosciutto pizza (usually my go to).
Really enjoyed the Crispy Skim Salmon on a bed of lentil salad. Perfectly cooked and the salad had a lovely light dressing which wasn't too overpowering.
Overall, one of my favourite of their venues and such a good happy hour 👌

Stopped in for a delicious bacon and egg roll with a coffee and decided to get a cherry danish as well. Unfortunately I left the table for a moment and one of these cheeky buggers swooped in and stole it!
The staff saw this happen and generously offered me a replacement for which I was very grateful. Very pleasant dining, great food, good coffee and delicious juice! Would recommend :)
There should be brighter lights inside the restaurant and the two tables right in the back corner that should be brighter but from that everything else was great the service at the bar for our Peroni beer and the Canadian club whiskey was quick but we had to wait a bit for our lunch to come.
An amazing place for both food and drinks. Really good wine for a very decent price considering the location. Would definitely visit here again!!!
Great location, clean place, burgers were decent and appropriately priced. Staff could try to smile once, and it was confusing trying to order - there were 3 different order places
Very quite Sunday evening due to it being just before the start of the lockdown. Food was tasty so true to its name. The salmon dish was melt in the mouth.
Great selection of beers and friendly staff. This place may have some really average photos on google, but they really don’t do the place justice. Getting a pizza but may return for the famous baguette
