Great food and coffee. Service is pretty bad and the atmosphere definitely doesnt help. If they renovated and hired better staff, it'd be a 5.
First ever foody visit to Newtown & was cheerfully welcomed with happy smiles, the best Soy Mocha (hard to get right btw) you could have when you're fluey(sick) a hefty CHICKEN & CORN soup(plentiful for price) and was offered,on the house, a Lemon/Ginger healthy juice cause the lovely barista felt for my sickly vocal.Workers danced away to Aretha Franklin on the radio and the menu offering and mouth watering sweet options made me consider elongating my illness just to partake of their delights!!
Stayed for over 2hours doing work, eating & enjoying the staffs company.

I have this craving for coffee at weird hours when most of the cafes seem to be closed. This was one which not only was open but it had an old European street cafe feel. We ordered a large cap and a blueberry cheesecake. The slice of the cake was humongous, so much so that both of us were unable to finish the entire piece. But the taste was divine. It just had this barely there sweetness and the berry compote on top genuinely had berries. The coffee was alright as well and it did come in a large cup unlike other cafes that tend to serve large coffee in a small cup.
Corelli's rules. It's our favourite cafe. My housemates and I went there literally every morning for at least a year, and we still frequent it quite often.
There's no friendly bullshit here - the staff are normal human beings that don't flash around fake smiles to everyone and are a bit on the cynical side.
Obviously, don't order any food because it doesn't look great (and the kitchen looks dodgy) - although the nachos look all right and the crumble is actually really good -they serve it to you heated up and with this big dollop of triple cream.
The coffee is burnt half the time, but they give you tiny teddy's with with it and they're open until midnight.
This place is not about the food or the coffee though. It's a Newtown staple.
Overall, Corelli's is the pinnacle of freedom.
The food here is always so robust and organic, the service is totally chilled and the vibe is really comfortable- it is Newtown cafe-ified! A tasty treat to end the evening.
Amazing. Well it was Valentine's Day and after walking the streets for over half an hour and been told by a few places sorry we are full. This nice little cafe with great opening hours had a table inside out of the terrible weather it was.
Although it seemed a little disorganised the food was amazing value, the service was friendly, not much professionalism about it but chilled which is the kind of dining I like to experience. I was greatly impressed by the service when another group came in after us they went out the back to pull out more tables and chairs to put outside instead of saying we are full.
Always a favourite. The service at Corelli's is notoriously terrible but thats part of its charm.
Have been coming here for many years and the food and coffee are always consistent. The coffee isn't the best you can get in Newtown but since they are open till midnight every night you don't have many better options past about 8pm.
The food is great for the price and there is heaps of vegetarian options. Having recently gone vegan I was surprised when I realised how little vegan there is on the menu but you can always get pasta without the cheese etc, staff all know what vegan means at least so its easy to check if something can be made vegan.
Great place to chill with friends and the opening hours make it even better, the recent change to only seating more than 2 round the side if you want to sit outside is kind of annoying but I'll still be coming back plenty.
Friendly staff, funky decor, fantastic food. Recommend the waffles with yoghurt and rhubarb compote, and the spinach, haloumi and pesto on toast- Yum!
At Corelli's, you are not God. You are merely the customer, drawn to the incredible food, fortunate enough to partake in what they have to offer. The staff have an attitude that is the opposite of "the customer is always right", and that's how it should be. They'll happily continue to serve you delicious eats if you're not self-righteous; you are not God. Deal with it. I've been here literally hundreds of times over the last couple of years, and it's still my favourite - laid-back staff or no.
Fantastic food and coffee, the sticky date cake is in my opinion the best one in Sydney! Also love the warm chicken salad, the beef burger and the pineapple cocktail (it's actually fruit frappe)! The service is quite relax but friendly. It's the café to go on a relax Friday night for a wonderful meal or Sunday afternoon for a nice coffee and tea.
Warm Chicken Salad!!!. The service isn't great but the food is fantastic. Always have the warm chicken salad which is fantastic. Huge portions and food always fresh. Warm Styicky date is huge and delicious though you may want to share it as it is a very large serve. Dont drink coffee so I can't comment. Overall a favorite and go at least once a fortnight.

Not the best coffee and milk was too hot. But the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was smooth, tangy and so good! Very generous serving of ham as well.
BEST CAFE IN NEWTOWN. WOW! If you're after the ultimate in Newtown bohemia, look no further. Corelli's offers great food, an unsurpassed location, and the casual, alternative ambience that has made King St famous. I'm a regular at this place, and I just find myself coming back again and again for the coffee, the desserts, and the specials. Eating the famous Corelli's waffles is a must for anyone who wants to live life! OK, I'm getting a bit carried away ha ha, but Corelli's offers seriously good food at seriously good prices, and I can honestly say that I'm hooked! If you're in Newtown, you've gotta go, and if you're not in Newtown, then go there simply to visit Corelli's.

Cool and chic - a Sydney icon. A great cafe in Newtown. In fact, a Sydney institution. Amazing food, excellent location, brilliant atmosphere. Caters to all tastes and needs. Love the mixture of people in a cosmopolitan, bohemian part of town. Food is to die for whether its main meals or dessert and I love the coffee. Been coming here for years and couldn't recommend it more!
