There was a deal on Foodora with a bonus credit for ordering from this Tim Ho Wan branch. Why not as yum cha suited for work lunch. The delivery was pretty quick and received the order in no time at all.
The Baked Buns With BBQ Pork are delicious as always and survived the trip over. It was nice crumbly top and moreish filling. Beef Balls With Bean Curd Skin were nice but probably better at the restaurant when it was fresher. Same with the Beancurd Skin With Pork, Mushroom, Cabbage & Carrots. The Steamed Egg Cake travelled well and still piping hot and soft when it arrived. Taste is also yummy!
Good authentic Chinese food that remind me of home made cooking 🤤. Although service was lacking the food is still worth a try. I highly recommend the ginger and chicken rice and the mango sago for dessert 😍. Will be back soon!
Really quick waiting time, average service and delicious food! The servings sizes are on the small side unfortunately but the tasty and unique desserts make up for it!
BBQ Pork Bun is my favourite, i'm always so excited to come to Tim Ho Wan, with great selection of HK gems.
Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce - is so good!
Lotus Leaf Steamed Rice is great, always consistent.
Well, the one in Melbourne is better I guess. Couldn't find a yum Cha place in Sydney CBD so we went to this place. Limited options on food, not a traditional yum Cha place but the food quality is good.
Not he first time visiting this THW, just had a chance to review it.
I always have a soft spot for this baked bun with BBQ pork.
This dish deserved to have Michelin star, because created to perfection and taste so heavenly.
Those a little sweet bake buns, filled with HongKong style BBQ pork is to die for.
Food was mixed in quality, but service was surprisingly excellent. Went with 11 people after a movie just before kitchen closed and they were so flexible with all the different orders and split bills and late changes and extras. Pork buns only ok. Dumplings good. Rice dishes good. Vermicelli rolls ok. Mixed quality, good variety, fresh clean taste to everything, basically a good, cheap, fun meal to share with large group if you don't expect amazing quality .. and with attentive fast service.
Love the fried pork bun! Cantonese congee was yummy too. Miss their prawn rice rolls with soy sauce, ooh it was tender and slippery. Perfection!
After visiting the Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong and being blown away by the food, while visiting Sydney we decided that a visit to Tim Ho Wan was a must. Unfortunately the one in Sydney on George street was a little disappointing. The dumplings were average for the price ($7.90 approx per dish) and the pork buns weren't as nice. They have decreased in size significantly and flavours were not the same. Overall an okay experience but in no rush to return.
The Chinese food was quite cheap (given that it's meant to be Michelin standards). The food itself was alright, fantastic tasting in all of the food choices ordered, but in some cases they lacked substance.
For example, my congee was chockers full of congee but not by way of ingredients. Other food was great.
Good for dinner 🐼 love their bbq pork bun, haukaw and siawmai. Had their toufu with meat inside, tasted ok and fried toufu with pork floss. Good services btw

While battle George Street certainly makes going to the movies a little less attractive, if you do brave the barricades and rat runs, Tim Ho Wan turns out very respectable, inexpensive, after-film fare. It’s part of a Chinese dim sum chain that originated in Hong Kong in 2009, and opened their first Australian store in Chatswood in 2015. It opened to a lot of hype because the Michelin Guide gave Tim Ho Wan a Michelin star back in 2010, and it has dined out on being the world's cheapest Michelin-star restaurant ever since. Not being a fan of hype, I’ve left it until now to sample their famous Baked Buns with BBQ Pork ($9.50/3). They’re baked rather than steamed, so...
Very satisfying afternoon snack. Our favourite dishes are the baked buns with BBQ pork and their congee with century egg as well as their dumplings. We gathered that coming during lunch time might be a little pack normally so we decided to come here during our afternoon snack instead: the service was good, attentive and the food is just as we expected, yummy! Craving is definitely satisfied!
Serve quickly, taste the most recommended Baozi Stuffed with BBQ Pork.however, the other items here is nothing special. A fast food diet style which is suitable for casual friends meeting.
Limited menu but has some tasty dishes.
Tim Ho Wan established in 2009, specialises in dim sums. It is located in 9 countries and was awarded with 1 Michelin star soon after it opened its door in 2009.
This is the only place that I know of that serves yum cha at night. We also wanted some comfort food so we dined here as it was cold outside. It is located on level 1 on George street across from Event cinemas, next to Guylian cafe.
We were seated promptly and we ordered from a picture menu, writing down our order on a paper menu that was given to the wait staff. We ordered beancurd skin rolls with prawn and pork, seafood vermicelli rolls with prawn, crabstick and cuttle fish, Treasures of the sea with prawns, scallops and fish slices, dough fritters, fried noodle with BBQ pork and soy sauce, and baked bun with BBQ pork.
The beancurd roll was crispy and the flavours of the prawn and pork was nice, not too salty but I had more pork filling than prawn. I think it also needed a side of mayonnaise to complete the dish. Serving was a bit small as well.
The seafood vermicelli roll was nice but even nicer when topped with the warm sweet soy sauce. The vermicelli and seafood was soft and yummy. The sauce was so good that I dipped my roll several times in the sauce before devouring.
The Treasures of the sea is congee (rice soup). I found that it was watered down and I preferred more rice in the congee. It had suttle sweet flavours but not enough seafood. The seafood was cooked well. The dough fritters in the congee was chewy, I preferred it not to have been in the dish. The dough fritters I ordered on the side is meant to be eaten with the congee, I prefer to have a spoon of congee and then a bite of dough fritter, some people like to add it to the congee but I find it gets too soggy. The dough fritters were a disappointment as they were overcooked and chewy. It was also too crunchy and not crispy.
The fried noodles were yummy. Nice balance of flavours of sweet and salty. Slices of BBQ pork and egg were nice and soft. However, serving was small.
The highlight were the baked BBQ buns. It had a sweet crispy shell with yummy saucy BBQ pork inside. It was so good that we had to take some for the road.
Throughout dinner, there was a consistent flow of customers. Wait staff should smile as they looked like they were there just to do their shift. Ample seating.
We will be back for the BBQ buns.
Tim Ho Wan was a good place for quick, cheap and nice dim sum. In HongKong, it was awarded one Michelin star.
From time to time, they will have new special items on menu. Each dish came with small serve, so it was good to share with friends and order different dishes.
Dishes that I enjoyed included:
*Glutinous rice in lotus leaf-with extreme sticky and soft rice and good amount of meat filling.
*Baked bus with BBQ pork-baked bread filled with sweet BBQ meat, soft and light, sweet and meaty! Loved it!
*steamed egg cake-it was so soft and airy with nice flavours and texture.
*sesame rice ball with salted egg yolk-beautifully deep fried extra thin sticky rice ball and filled with runny, creamy and smooth salted egg yolk. Definitely recommend.
If you like vegetables, then the spinach dumping with garlic and enoki mushroom would be a good choice.
This is my first time visit to Tim Ho Wan, we are happy with our delicuse foods and good service. Staff will provide warm water, and let me feel warm in this winter. I will definely come back with my friend.
Came here with a large group & were seated within 5 minutes. Staff were very nice & accommodating & always had someone walking around to get their attention should we need anything. Have been to the Chatswood branch a few years ago & quality is the same. Tasty & quick. There isn't anything which I did not enjoy from the dishes we ordered, however the standouts for me (& most likely everyone else) was the baked BBQ pork bun. The congee & rice dishes were also good.
We also had a cake & they kindly assisted with holding it until we wanted to eat it. They even played 'Happy Birthday' when it was cake time, how sweet!
Overall would definitely come here again. This pace is open for both lunch & dinner (for those craving yum cha at night time).
Best dumplings ever!!!!!! Thank you for making these amazing baked buns. They are so scrumdeliumtious and moist. Gotta come here again and order everything because you won't regret this easy yum chq
Delicious delicious! First tried this resto in Manila, Philippines a few years ago and that experience was great!
We flew in for the weekend and lunch here was part of the list. The Bbq baked buns is not to be missed, spring roll with egg white also a must! The Chicken sausage rice was as it was in Manila, very good!
The service was quick and staff energised ! place was clean and location is central.
The food tasted delicious! They came out of the kitchen very fast one by one. Would have been better if there was more variety in their menu but nonetheless we absolutely loved it!
They do good quality yum Cha style food. The takeaway store is very efficient and you generally don't have to wait in a long line. The most popular item in the menu is the pork buns encrusted in a sweet pastry dough, like pineapple buns. I can never have too many of those! Apart from that, the other items are not significantly better than normal yum Cha and not worth the extra money...unless you are in Hong Kong. The original store is still the best.
FOOD
Classics of dim sum executed well. Main tip would be to avoid the show-offy fusion-style special nonsense and go with the classics such as:
PRAWN DUMPLING(虾饺)
PORK DUMPLING W/ SHRIMP (烧卖)
GLUTINOUS RICE W/ LOTUS (糯米鸡)
CHAR SIEW BAO (叉烧包)
CONGEE W/ PORK, CENTURY EGG, SALTED EGG (金银蛋瘦肉粥)- this was good, the duck egg was very nice
since most of the time I eat this it only has the century egg.
SESAME RICE BALL W/ SALTED EGG YOLK (黄金流沙球)
******stay away from the rice bowl random things. BAD. too much ginger
STORY TIME
waiters seemed very confused, this wouldn't happen if you spoke to them in mandarin or cantonese most likely. For example you ask for a bowl and they bring you a spoon. some of the waiters seem like they are lost in the middle of the street. But this didn't significantly impair the quality of the experience. This is somewhere where you go for the food and try not to think about that much else. The food is good.
As MW would say "Timmy Ho" aka Tim Ho Wan puts on a full banquet full of dumplings and other treats recently. I recently check out the George St Tim Ho Wan. Did you know they have monthly specials? I got to try the most AMAZING December specials. For full review, photos and the goss, go to the full blog post
We were lacking a yum cha chain on Australian soil so Tim Ho Wan the famous one Michelin star dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong is here to fill that void. With the initial restaurant introduced in Chatswood about a year ago now, Burwood, Pitt Street and George Street have rapidly established. Every month the chefs develop brand new dim sum dishes and these become part of the menu. Since it’s the merry season, some festive dishes in shades of green and red have been whipped up for our enjoyment:
Service is fast, food is excellent! I tried 7 different dishes and I can't which one was my favourite because they were all great!
The atmosphere of the place is a bit sterile though: there's hardly any human contact with the staff. You write your order on a piece of paper and hand it out to a waiter. It feels a bit like a diner.
Best choice for sure! Please enjoy here no regret at all. Our family came today and had a fun. Will be again for sure.. Will be again for sure.. Will be again for sure
Great place came here for dinner always friendly and quick service. Love the dumplings and BBQ pork bun will definitely return again no questions asked!
Excellent food. We enjoyed every meal here. Especially we like the pork ribs, prawn dumplings and glutinous rice and all the deserts. Lovely store in the city too
Beautiful Dim Sum! Wanted to try the much anticipated Michelin Star restaurant and it was not bad. Clean environment, tables are a bit small, timely food and good service
Great food! There's always a variety at tim ho wan so you never get sick of the flavours! Definitely would recommend! They are particularly very fast at clearing our tables!
Really nice restaurant. Been here so many many times and still come back all the time. Nice location and staff. So many favorite food. Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone!
The new Prawn filing wrapped with beetroot & wasabi is ver good. The baked pork buns are better now, thinner but easier to eat and not feel full.
Excellent customer service by Viann F. The food came quickly and warm. The vermicelli roll was the best dish out of the 6 dishes I have with my girlfriend. Spend about $55. Good value for money.
Excellent chinese cusine
Good environment
Friendly waiter/waitress
Fast paced
Good location
Close to train station
Perfect for small groups
Great food and variety. Fast service too. Come early at lunch because it fills up quickly!
We had chicken feet, dumplings, and pork rolls. Yum.
Tim Ho Wan, what a place.
Awesome venue in the middle of the cbd with amazing food!
The dumpling are incredible with my favorite being the baked pork bun 😍
I will definitely be back!
The abalone beetroot wasabi tobiko dumpling was amazing. And such fast delivery for all our orders!! We didn't have to line up for seats on a busy Thursday night too which was a huge bonus :)

Overall very good, We are especially like the buns with BBQ pork. Convenient location. Second time around and still can't wait for BBQ pork buns.
Good place with not really expensive price
But not a lot of menu , So I hope will increase more food than now
Will come back again
Thanks
Baked buns with BBQ pork is always delicious! Order it every time. But I think the steamed mushroom and capsicum dumpling is not very delicious as we expected
😘😘😘😘😘😘 so delicious and fantastic restaurant it is! The location is quite easy to find. A great place to have dinner with friends. Recommend you guys to come here to have a try!
Good food for a premium price. Would recommend for the experience!
Had the baked buns with BBQ pork, pork dumplings with shrimp, mango pomelo sago, and steamed egg cake. Tasted great and very much genuine to my previous experiences with the cuisine. The value for money is the only thing you'd really want for.
I've chosen sesame rice ball with salted egg yolk, tonic medlar cakes, mango pomelo sago, steamed egg cake and beef balls with bean curd skin. Tastes really nice
Food are tasty, very good,. I come here for afternoon tea. Fortunately, there is not many people. There is no need to wait for a long queue as usual. However the air condition is not strong enough in such a hot climate. The seatings here are not grant. Just like dining in a hawker area. Better to have a better furniture.
Came with my friend around 12pm, and it wasn't too crowded. The place was good and the services was nice too. We didn't order much coz just wanted to try the BBQ pork, and was really satisfied with it! A must try in Sydney.
Good environment. Good taste. I love the vermicelli roll and bbq pork bun so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can find my hometown - hong kong taste here!!!
Excellent food.
The Baked Buns withBBQ pork are better than the ones we had in Hong Kong.
Vermicelli rolls are a must to try.
We normally take home the glutinous rice in lotus leaf as it reheats very well in a microwave.
Service is fast and efficient.
Food quality is good.
Highly recommended.

Grate food and grate place if have discount all time we will come back again and again. We will recomment our friend to come to eat Tim Ho Wan
Baked buns with bbq pork and vermicelli roll with fried dough are the best dishes to go to. It is obvious why the bun is the most sought after dish in timhowan, it speaks for itself!
Always yummy~tried their new dumpling with wasabi today, really love it~ it taste like a kind of sushi at the begining, a little bit surprised with it
good location, nice food. Will come back again.
the service need to improve because not enough waiter and waitress, and not smiley face of them.
My favorite place for porridge. The pork bun is superb! Never get bored of it. The vermicelli roll can be improved, a bit too blend. Overall, Nice environment with good food.
Consistently good food every time
Love the prawn dumplings here and the raffish cake. Now they are adding constantly changing special menus. Makes coming back here worthwhile
Always good to have some hk dimsim at TImHoWan.....Nice food....great location...good eating environment. Service is pretty decent too. Only music is bit loud. Everything else is great.
We were kindly invited to tim ho wan last week. Ive been to this particular joint as a paid customer a couple of times. our experience were quite positive in comparison to their chatswood joint which we probably wont go back to in a hurry.
A massive improvement in the pork buns, they were delicious, crispy and didnt cause my tongue to tingle like the ones in chatswood did. I will be coming back to get this again and again as long as the quality is the same!
The dumplings are fresh and its noticable , unlike yum.cha dumplings with hard edges cos its been hanging on the plate for a few hours, tim ho wan make their dishes to order.
The fried dough wrapped in vermicelli is a MUST!!! So crispy and tasty. Ohhh and the sesame balls with egg yolk custard. Nomnom.
Heres a tip, stay away from the rice dishes, i had a rice bowl one lunch time and it was regretable. This is a great place for a snack at night, its becoming our go to.
The food is delicious, with excellent service.
However, the music in the background is a bit too loud, otherwise, everything else is perfect.
Current specials are Tom yum goong prawn dumplings and prawn filling wrapped with beetroot & wasabi are phenomenal and tasty. The other items are great as always.
Service is always quick and efficient. Dumplings are tasty but can be a little expensive. Highly recommend the beancurd skin roll with shrimp.
Excellent yum cha. Been coming here at least once a week with my partner. The baked bbq pork buns are a stand out, as well as the prawn dumplings and my fave, beancurd skin with pork & shrimp. For dessert, the mango pomelo sago is a nice way to finish, and cleanses the palette.
it's a great restaurant with a great service. foods are spectacular. if i were you i will ensure that i come and enjoy great chiness's condition food at tim ho wan.
Really nice meal here. Just as nice as the Hong Kong outlets. My favourite is the Baked Buns with BBQ pork. Dumplings are great too with the thin other layers and great flavours.
Quite good. Better than the one in Melbourne. I ordered prawn dumplings, radish cakes, and milk tea. All good:) Quite good. Better than the one in Melbourne. This is my 2md time and it is brilliant again, BBQ bun is my favourite.
Will recommend to anyone like Asian food. Good for lunch or snacking.
Recommend by friends, so today decided to have a try. The place is quite clean and bright. The food is sensational. Definitely will come again.
Good food fresh
price is cheap and services is
Good. Good choice of the Chinese food in cvs area I. Like it next time will come again!!!
Came here for one much on Monday, for some dumplings and dessert. quick service and good food! 😊✌🏻️definitely would come again for the BBQ pork buns!
Dropped in for an early dinner, got seated straight away at a table that had a big puddle of water on the floor and air con dripping on the table! It was nowhere near full so why they seated us there I have no idea.. We asked for a different table and they moved us quite happily. We ordered dumplings and sticky rice to share, the food arrived very quickly and steaming hot. My favorite were the prawn dumplings in a beetroot wrapping with wasabi tapioca which were a special menu item. Their prawn vermicelli noodles was very average and I have had better at other Yum Cha restaurants but for the three of us out only cost $27 a person which is alot cheaper then most Yum Cha restaurants in the city.
Very nice Homemade Barley!!
Strongly recommend!
Come with my friend, nice environment, cool space.
Suitable for summer.
Nicely located in the heart of CBD with a cuisine hard to find that is good. Quick in terms of food and really good as well. Would come again
delicious! the dumplings are excellent and you can get a five per cent discount for every review - how good is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lovely place with comfort food at the heart of the city. Good service. Ideal if you're craving for Hong Kong food. Overall, very satisfied with it.
Very effective service

Very nice food in central location. We ordered 8 dishes for three of us, the food is fresh and quick to serve. Baked buns with BBQ pork is our favourite.Highly recommend to everyone
I love all the food, especially the homemade Longan drink! Today I've tried the rice with chicken sausage and mushroom. It's delicious, but I think the portion is a bit small relative to the price. The sesame rice ball with salted egg yolk is also one of my favorite. I think this is the new on the menu.
This is my favorite dim sum place at Sydney! I am impressed by their seasonal dishes so come here every week.
Highly recommend the Mango Pomelo Saga and radish cake!
Well presented store amazing food and very good service and the best location of town vet close to public transport make it very easy to access.
Good service, perfect Chinese food, that is quite good😬😬😬😬😁😁😁😁😁😜😆😜😆😆😝😆😝😇😇😏😇😏😇😏😇😏😏😇😏😏😇😏😇😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏🤗😇🤗🤗😇🤗
Overall pretty good, on the saltier side but still yummy. We especially liked the vermicelli roll with shrimp and baked buns with bbq pork. Convenient location.
Simply exquisite, if only I could consume the entire menu in a single sitting. The ingredients seem to be of quality and freshness. For someone who has tried a lot of these dishes, theirs are singular.
Good good. Excellent location. Loved the crispy skin BBQ bun (forgot the official name lol). Steam egg cake is good too. Quite a popular dish.

This place has great customer service and the food is delicious! I recommend this place for anyone wanting asian cuisine. I recommend the baked pork buns! I love this place!
Just average food and average service. Have been to many branches of Tim Ho Wan and they all taste pretty much the same, which is not bad. I mean you will know what they taste like even if you go to other branches. The fish fillet porridge is quite nice, but would be better if there are more fish
Really nice beef loin traditional noodle. Beef is nice and tender with the right amount of fat (lots) and plenty of flavour. Noodles are well cooked, and still have bite. Full length glass window provides an interesting view to the walkway to town hall.
The seating process is not very efficient, and there was a wait despite the restaurant not being particularly full.

Love this dim sum concept for Tim Ho Wan & I especially love the affordability of their food. We dined with two children recently & the staff were really accomodating with our group. Their March specials are up, the Chicken & seafood with truffles are incredible!
Trying out the newest dishes at Tim Ho Wan. We absolutely loved the sesame rice balls with oozing golden salted-egg custard. Everything tastes great and we had great conversations with our new friend from the US!👍💕
Awesome taste and delicious food served in a cosy environment. Good Yum Cha place for non Chinese people as all the food is described in English and there is a special marking for all the vegetarian. Lunch menu on weekday is not expensive. Within the city, so easy to access. Food was served quickly.
When she pours soy sauce liberally over our bbq pork rice rolls, the conversation stops and the feeding frenzy starts. Everyone hones their chopsticks to their favourite yum cha dish and a silence descends over the table. Some prefer prawns. I prefer salty bbq pork wrapped around slinky rice rolls (they call them vermicelli rolls here). They come stacked; the top ones have just the right amount of soy sauce. Get to the bottom layer and it’s flavour excess that will have you overdosing on saucey goodness, necessitating multiple sips of tea. The tea of choice today is lemongrass and ginger.
We had so much to eat at Tim Ho Wan! HIGHLY RECOMMEND you order the BBQ Pork bun and sesame rice ball (with salty egg yolk sauce)
