Home style cooking which nourishes your body. I love the concept here as I know that I’m getting quality ingredients and everything is made with love.
Shashuka eggs are a signature dish here, they offer a few different options. This is he bolognaise shashuka which tastes exactly like bolognaise sauce so great if that’s what you’re after. If you are after more of a traditional shashuka, I would suggest one of the other options. Served with two poached eggs on top (the eggs weren’t as runny as I would have liked on this occasion) soft pita bread so you can scoop up the sauce and eggs.
Granny’s goodness bowl - zarter poached eggs, avocado , quiona chickpeas, kale with beetroot, mushrooms pickles & tahini. If you’re after something light healthy for breakfast and trying to cut out carbs, this is the perfect dish. My feedback is that I wished it wasn’t canned sliced beetroot and also the menu description said there was halloumi but I didn’t have any in my dish!
I have only been to Grandma’s once and I cannot wait to go back again. It’s my favourite kind of food, home style food. The service is warm and friendly, the coffee is good and the food is darn tasty. Next time I pop in I will be taking away some of their house-made biscuits. #brunchinsydney #brunchgoals
Absolutely love this place - in a quiet spot surrounded by residential property so probably more of a cafe for locals. I had the classic shakshouka and a late. They do great coffee! Consistently homey style, great quality food. They even have their own herb garden. Great quiet place to catch up with your other half.
The food was amazing, rich in flavour and portion size was good as well. The staff was friendly as well. The owner of the cafe was there as well and greeted us very well. I would recommend this place.
Grandmas is located in the new hipster capitol of of Sydney. The decor of this place makes you feel like your in the back of a European bakery with stacked cans of Italian tomatoes, tubs of dry biscuits and baby blue picnic tables for seating.
The coffees are creamy and strong. The homemade pink lemonade is delicious but sweet af! I felt like i was getting diabetes with every sip!
The Shakshouka was full of big chunks of beef mince and a nice, almost sweet sauce. That soft spongy bread to soak up the bolognese sauce of the Shakshouka.
The Pasta Bolognese has a good pasta to bolognese ratio. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the bolognese is that same sweet rich sauce from the Shakshouka.
Has a great variety of Shakshouka's to try so we'll be back!
I rate Grandma's. Caters mostly to the businesses around it but its a unique concept with very fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Quick service and friendly staff. Only shortfall is very limited seating.
Been there for an early morning breaky over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was pretty good. The food was good and had good quantity for reasonable prices. We had the Sambusak kind of morning and according to me is a must try.
Best breakfast I have had in Sydney , Just go for the Shakshukas I went for the Beef and my friends the vegetarian it was really yummy , coffee is good as well . Ideal place to start the weekend with a big breakfast. Service was fast enough better come in early to beat the crowd.
Great place , i Enjoyed the coffee & every bite from the chicken casserole i had as well as the beautiful selection of cookies. Would 100% go back Thanks Grandma's!
I had intended on ordering food, however, I ran out of time.
"How *could* you?", I hear you bleating, "you are my only source of food-based information! Whatever will I do with my existence?!"
This is the problem with Grandma's. It is so popular that it is impossible to get good service. I waited in line for about 12 minutes to place my order and decided that food would take too long, so I just ordered a takeaway coffee.
In fairness, the coffee is amazing.
But be aware: this place is the best cafe in the area and attracts all the local businesses and construction folks. Go there in the morning and cancel all the other things you had planned that day.
At some point I will update this review. I'm hoping I can give them the five stars they deserve. Maybe they can hire a casual for the busy morning rush?
Also, no Grandmas work there. I checked.
Such a warm, animated spot, accompanied by a overall quirky fun menu! I particularly enjoyed the Ricotta Pancakes. Happy to have found this place
Had a wonderful experience.. the foods are awesome and the service was quick.. id definitely go back ..hopefully you extend your hours till night.. :)
I loved the Shakshuka and smiley waitresses. Check out this chilled-out cafe and relax for a while. They have the best cookies and very good coffee!
I visited Grandma's at Rosebery last Sunday with a few friends of mine and all we could say was it was just amazing! Service was great and the food tasted lovely! My favorite was definitely the Unique Ricotta Pancake and their Chocolate Banana cake! I also highly recommend asking for some chili flakes for that extra punch in flavor for any Shakshuka dishes!
I can't really fit in my whole review of the place here so definitely check out my full blog post entry of their place here:

A small, lovely cafe in Rosebery...I stoped here on my way to work. Coffee was great, friendly staff. Love their pastries. Good experience. Will come again.
Grandma's at Rosebery is somewhat unique - the 'little sister' of other restaurants, it presents as a café, but produces like a restaurant. As a regular attendee, I can say that the coffee is consistently excellent (consistency is key!); the Pita Project great value for a tasty and speedy lunch; and the staff are polite, pleasant, and attentive (and please don't mistake their quietness for rudeness). Oh, and did I mention the bakery goods? Cookies, shortbreads, pastries, and cakes to die for.
I love this place. I went for brunch the other week with my family, and we all absolutely loved it!! Not only great food, but really nice friendly people serving us. It created a nice ambiance, which meant that the people sitting next to us were really nice too. Coffee was perfect (I'm not a coffee drinker), but my dad is and he said it was one of the best coffees he has had. In my eyes it is the perfect brunch place - I am definitely going back with friends!!!
Please everyone must try this place!!!
Have now been a number of times and enjoyed everything I've had so far. A very pretty and peaceful area, perfect for a nice meal in the sun. A neighbourhood gem for sure.

i had been wanting to visit this place for a long time now and last saturday i managed to visit their Rosebery outlet. it was a good decision considering the fact that this is a quieter side of Rosebery and parking won't be a problem.
i was there for Shakshuka obviously, but as a coffee person i was eager to try their coffee too. i ordered a flat white and was not disappointed as it was quite well made with a nice latte art. they apparently roast their own coffee. now on to Shakshuka, i ordered their woodfired eggplant shakshouka with labne, and house made fresh pita bread. i thoroughly enjoyed it and wiped the pan clean by using the bread to mop up all the sauce.
they run bread making workshop if anyone is interested to learn and i also noticed they stock different kind of cookies as well.
all in all, had a wonderful experience and looking forward to visit them again.

Delicious dishes and traditional recipes inspired by Grandmas all over the world is what's being served here. but one dish in particular has caught my fancy and it is called Shakshuka. . So what is Shakshuka or Shakshouka? The word means "all mixed up" in Hebrew and Arabic. . It is a very popular Israeli breakfast dish of eggs poached in sauce of tomatoes, capsicums and cumin served in a frying pan at the table. It tastes even better accompanied by pita or crusty bread.
Delicious homemade food, amazing pastries, great coffee and friendly staff! The lunch station Monday to Friday is a great idea and pita sandwiches from $6 are to die for!
Grandma's at Rosebery is a must place to visit - if you are looking for something different you will find great options -i love the green spinach Shakshuka served with the house made pita bread - the pumpkin soup just perfect , the cookies range is amazing- i tried the superfood cookies & love shape vanilla shortbread - and will be back soon to get some snowballs and pistachio butter cookies - can't wait !
see you soon Grandma's
I work around the corner from grandmas and I eat there every day, the food is nice and fresh, i think it's a family business they are so lovely there, the guy with the long hair is always there to entertain as well, THE PITAS ARE A MUST, peace J
Wlnderful place, great value, fresh and tasty. Hope they are there for a long time ! The pitas are dellicious and when available, the ice cream sunflower seed flavour is a must try.
What a find !
a lovely homestyle place with great fresh produce very different to other place around Sydney , love the classic shakshuka , good coffee & amazing cookies range
service was also good
Highly recommend !
Good value food. Cafe is a good price for what you get. I work above the cafe so it is my regular place to go when I have not brought lunch but still want something relatively healthy.
I usually get the chicken salad to take away (quite nice!). They have also recently been making soup which is great - I love the pumpkin soup.
Don't eat the cookies much but had a pistachio one the other day and it was super tasty.
Not the most amazing and sophisticated food, but convenient and good value for money!
If there is one word to describe Grandma's at Rosebery, it's charming. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the staff, charming captures it all in one word. And it's this charm that gives me the confidence to guarantee that you will not only enjoy, but positively LOVE your dining experience here. The delicious, comforting home-style cooking and friendly, helpful staff make it a MUST for the ‘go-to’ café list we all have stashed away somewhere. Grandma’s - Just Like Home now run a total of three café’s – Grandma's at the Farm near Collector, Grandma's Little Bakery in Alexandria and the recently opened Grandma's at Rosebery, which is where we decided to visit for breakfast (of course). The menu is inspired by Israeli cuisine, boasting a selection of shakshouka’s (baked eggs), homemade dips, breads, pastries and much more. Upon arrival, we are immediately impressed when handed the tech-savvy menu, which arrives in the form of an iPad! Needless to say we had a bit of fun browsing through the options… Whilst we browsed the menu and attempted to make the stressful decisions, we ordered some coffees, and I was thrilled to hear they stocked almond milk (a rare find in Sydney, unfortunately). My almond milk flat white was SO on point, and thats when I knew things were going to be good. Almond milk coffee's are always a hit and miss, so its safe to say that when it comes to coffee, Grandma's have got it all figured out! We couldn’t go past ordering the shakshouka’s, being a clear specialty of the place. We ordered two different variety’s, along with a serving of hummus with a freshly baked bagel and the ricotta pancakes.
Best feed in Rosebery!. I LOVE the Pita project....Chicken fresh off the BBQ and straight into a home made pita pocket with carrot and almond salad...this place is making healthy, delicious options and so far everything I've eaten there has been SO good!! Worth swinging by for a coffee and pastry or pastrami bagel before work...atmosphere is lovely too :)
Great selection of foods. Lovely and helpful staff. Large restaurant space and un-ticketed street parking is available. Really unique, soft and fluffy gluten free bread available and fresh juices.
Just look at how stunning the dishes are?
The food is just to die for here - it’s cheap and it’s such a great location. The staff are always super friendly and the coffee is just flat out delicious.
I haven’t found a better cafe in Sydney.
Great place for a relaxing Sunday. Service was prompt and staffs are really accommodating. As a big Shakshuka fan, we took the traditional Shakshuka and it didn't disappoint ( could've been better). It comes with a bread and Tahini dip which was amazing. Music is nice too. Overall, a great place.
Nice breakfast place. Very fluffy ricotta pancakes that were balanced out with yoghurt, honey and various nuts. The beef shakshuka was a new experience for me and I quite enjoyed it; though I suspect the classic shakshuka would have been a better option for thoes unfamiliar with the dish. The only small let down was the "fresh" bread which I felt was abit stale with a flat crust that was hard to bite through. All in all a great place with decent portion sizes at a mid-price. Would love to try their lunch box offering sometime.

absolutely delicious in every way possible. amazing coffee, will definitely be back here.
Restaurant is very cozy and nice. Staff and owner very friendly and gently!
Food is amazing: good quality and tasty, as well as presentation and decoration.
Style very original, simple and familiar
