Real rating: 8.2/10
This is my second time coming here. I came back because I think overall their meat is seasoned well and their meat quality is good for the price point they offer at. Definitely recommend this if you want to go to a decent Japanese yakiniku place that sits right in the heart of the city.
We love BBQ places and have been wanting to try this place for awhile but the long waits were holding us off . It was a Sunday afternoon, around 1.30pm and we managed to get seated in 20 mins which was great. Albeit a later lunch , it was worth the wait . We ordered the short ribs , sliced beef and 5 sides (get 1 free). Every single side was delicious and I also ordered the watermelon calpis drink which was lovely . We’ll be coming back!
Came to splurge and was not disappointed. The BBQ tastes amazing and the smaller portions are on the cheaper side. Their calpis blend is a must-try. There is a 90 minute time limit so recommend coming with smaller crowds.
Perfect bbq meat!! Perfect environment!! The whole restaurant is just so cute! Got to love the marinated!
Rating 4.0 The queue here is always so long, so have mostly avoided it. Back when things were “normal”, my friends organised and managed to book a table/small back room for the 6 of us. The meats were very good quality and plenty of varieties. The sake options were not bad. Space is tight so can get a bit chaotic with lots of dishes going around, but overall a great night out.
Excellent quality meat, the place is a bit hardcore for a westerner at first but you get the hang of things pretty quickly. Exceptional food, great date spot, quick service. Can’t wait to go back.
I have walked past here for so long and always wanted to try this place. After finally trying their lunch specials, I hate myself for not trying it earlier. The food is seriously so amazing and great service too!
3 people order 1 large bbq beef, 1 large beef tongues, pork and 5 side dishes. The sashimi is really fresh. As they’re doing promotion that side dishes buy 4 get 1 free, it’s worth including the sashimi.
The bbq beef are good, but the pork is really normal, no need to try.
Was pleasantly surprised, we randomly tried this restaurant on a Thursday night as we were getting some things from Daiso and noticed it, we usually research Japanese restaurants a lot before trying them, especially Yakiniku! The meat quality was quite good for the price, the selection of cuts was quite limited but it had all the common favourites.
It wasn’t cheap, but no yakiniku restaurant it. A good casual place to have a meal, for 2 people on a date or some friends together.
I’ve been here for a few times already and i feel like this is love at first sight (i know it’s cheesy but it’s true😂).
Always love the ambiance, the customer service, the flavour. They have different way of ordering for lunch or dinner.
When i went there for the first time, it was for dinner and each table has their own ipad to order the food but when i came for lunch, we had to call the waiter to order.
I really like the egg soup, fish cake, and all type of meat are very delicious. The portion is not too big and for price wise, it’s definitely worth it. All the meat are tender and easy to chew (got an approval from my dad who always asks for tender meat whenever we go bbq😂)
The meat are very fresh and tasty.. particularly love the beef tongue and outside skirt .. service is fast and price is reasonable. Definitely come back again!
Love this place! Their short ribs are must haves, so juicy and quality is amazing. Loved the one with wasabi too! And the rice... yes the bowl of rice!!! It’s the best rice I’ve had in Sydney!!! There’s just something about it makes it so special to me. It remind’s me of my grandma’s rice. Except we ate a lot so ended up being around $100 for the two of us, my wallets hurt after. And we waited for a bit since it was very busy.
The place is well decorated and the perfect intamate date spot if you are placed in the quiet corner. The prices for lunch are perfect 👌. Come along to this buzzing hole in the wall.
ONE OF THE BEST IN SYDNEY!😭❤️ And also my favorite!!! All of their meat are FRESH and LEGIT!!! The services are fast. Because it was a very busy restaurant, of course you have to booked first. We also tried the matcha beer & ox tongue karaage. They were legit! Oh definitely will come back!!
First time in this place. Although only had lunch set, I was quite happy with the quality and portion. Sirloin was tender and tasty. Ingredients taste fresh. will come back and try Yakiniku next time for sure!
city in Japan and blessed with warm tropical weather. Black cattle in Kagoshima are raised. “with respect and affection” and only cattle of Grade 4 (A4, B4) or. higher are stamped with the “Kagoshima Beef” brand name. Its. superiority and rarity result in high price tag, but is worth every
We had a $60 voucher and thought we'd better use it before it expires. Went on a friday at about 6.30pm and it was PACKED. We put our name down and was advised that the wait time was approximately. 1.5hrs!!! So crazy. ... must be good right?! Haha. There were hoards of people waiting outside.
We went upstairs and decided to have dessert first, then went browsing through the shops. By the time we went back it was roughly 7.45pm,our number was called not long ago. I asked the staff and she quickly sat us at the counter. We were allocated 90mins to eat but we finished with 45 mins to spare. We ordered ox tongue and steak... my god they were delicious.
I would definitely come back again and order more food! You can get cuts for about 9 bucks. No wonder this place is so popular. Delicious and of quality.
Meat is yummy and fresh, we went a little experimental with what we were grilling but it was still delicious. It is really busy all the time, so i recommend going early, we still had to wait 30mins even though we were early!
Their boneless wagyu beef and beef tough is marinated well. Personally, love tough more as it’s tender and easy to grill. But grilling beef needs more techniques, otherwise it’s well be over cooked or under cooked so the meat is too hard to chew.
The ambience is okay. My friend and I wait for a little while but it’s worth to wait! They are super busy so that they are under staff! We keep waiting for simply two glass of water.
Probably my bf Guorium🧪 and his parents will like this one! The price is quite acceptable too!
This is a great spot for casual and not too expensive Japanese bbq. The meats were great and I liked the ox tongue and the beef short ribs. From the sides, I recommend the seafood salad which included tuna, salmon and scallop sashimi. The restaurant does get busy during peak hours so get there early if you want to be seated quickly.
Yakiniku Yokocho is always peaking with people; the small-scale but animated ambiance will make any customer feel like they're Japan.
The service was pleasant and attentive, and the touch screen menus made ordering simple for customers.
The selection of meats were reasonably priced, and prime cuts. But we found that side dishes were somewhat unreasonably priced for such small portions.
I feel that the only downside of my experience was the lack of privacy and personal space- we kept bumping into people next to us, and overhearing the conversations circulating around the tables near us.
Awesome place with nice fresh beers on tap and delicious beef. We love the wasabi marinated beef short ribs and the ox tongue (non premium one is already very delicious and soft). Service is prompt and adequate and the atmosphere is relaxing.
We spent slightly less than $80 for 2 including beers. Will definitely visit again. What a beautiful finale for 2018! Ericson Chow
Yakiniku Yokocho is a Japanese BBQ restaurant in Regents Place that has recently launched a new menu with an updated range of their amazing BBQ meats range. I love a good BBQ feast with friends so came here in a group one day to try it out. We ordered a range of their dishes including ox tongue, beef ribs, flap meat, short rib and outside skirt, as well as pork and chicken dishes. These were marinated well and delicious, so tender and juicy when accompanied with sauces and vegetable side dishes, also designed to be roasted.
Had an enjoyable meal at Yakiniku Yokocho. The meat was very tasty and delicious. We ordered 3 small portions of meats and one side + large rice to share between 2 people. With beer $65 in total. It was perfect for us. Highly recommend the Boneless Beef Rib and Pork Neck. Not so much the outskirt which was in comparison more chewy.
It’s a cozy little place and staff was very attentive and fast with service. If you go rush hour might need to wait. It is very popular.
The place does get a bit smokey when it’s full, the ventilation tubes weren’t as effective as it should be.
We will surely return, this looks to be a keeper and an awesome regular spot to eat.
Note that the BBQ is with gas not charcoal. And 90 mins meal time limit, which was more than enough for us.
4/5 Dinning Experience.
Place:
This restaurant has decent size of dining area, when we came, there is no table for 2 people, so we have to share with big party, on communal table, of course we have our own bbq set.
Some people might be uncomfortable because person sitting next to you was so close, you can hear what they are talking and vice versa.
Service:
It’s good enough, staff is explaining what type that we ordered.
Food & Drink:
What can I see is that they have 2 serving size on bbq, small and large that generally large is 2x more expensive than the small size( double portion ).
Yuke, it’s a bowl of strips quality good cold meat, serves raw with egg yolk, might be not everyone cup of tea.
Plain Ribs meat is good, love the texture of ox tongues, finger ribs with wasabi it’s a bit tricky when you cooked it because it’s slightly thicker after it’s rolled.
Salmon rice, a bowl of simple happiness!
Flavour was mild, not overpowering, yet it’s a comfort food.
Side Dish:
Ponzu chicken skin was something different, it’s recommended.
Good experience over all
Excellent food with such a good variety of barbecue meat, especially their premium ox tongue is to die for! They even have karaage ox tongue which I find quite interesting. The place is small and yet it is not too squishy and the service was good. Location is very convenient right in the middle of the city, so it’ll be easy to get into and if you want to continue for dessert there are a lot of places around - definitely spoilt for choice!
Yakiniku Yokocho is a great little bbq place on the bottom level of regent place shopping centre. You may have to wait a little while for your table but you can browse the shops whilst you wait. It’s a touch screen order menu and you can order your selection of meat and sides to cook yourself on the bbq grill in front of you. You receive an array of sauces to flavour your meat, though with such good quality meat, it isn’t really needed. We ordered a few sides and enjoyed the salad as well as some sashimi. You can order highball cocktails and also beers. A great little dinner location.
We booked our table, thankfully, because it was quite busy. My partner and I had chicken and beef. I have never been a fan of chicken, but it didn't have much flavour. My partner loved it, however. I guess the flavour is in the grilling. But the beef was to die for! So flavourful and delicious. A little chewy, but I like that. I often think about this place and miss the beef. Want to go back soon!
Remember that last time you stepped back on the plane leaving japan, hoping you’ll be back as soon as possible. Then look no further, Yakiniku Yokocho bring a little bit of japan to YOU right here in Sydney! With imported decoration and an vending machines with Japanese drinks it doesn’t get any better than that! Make sure you try out their matcha beer 🤣
The BBQ has a HUGE selection of meats and side dishes with plenty for seating with a big group or an intimate BBQ with your partner. Our favourites were the boneless beef short rib, beef outside skirt, beef rib marinated in wasabi, pork neck, pork rib, beef flap.. we could honestly eat everything on the menu! Everything we had was amazing quality and a perfect cut with reasonable serving sizes.
🆕🆕Don’t forgot to check out the Lunch menu that has now launched, with amazing sets starting from $15.80, it will have you very satisfied with the variety of options that each set comes with. All lunch sets come with rice, suimono soup, salad, sashimi and a free soft drink!
- So many people. Honestly, so many people. Make sure you book a table to skip the line.
- but foodwise this is the yakiniku place. Go for the ox tongue (splurge a little if they have the thick cut on the daily menu - these juicy thicc boys are worth it)
Quality of the meat is great compared to any bbq restaurants in the city as well as side dishes. Good atmosphere and vibe, staff are very friendly.
Lunch is also very nice that you wouldn't smell like bbq but still can have delicious meat for reasonable price.
Located inside Regents place shopping plaza this place gets really busy on weekends. The decor inside takes you on a journey in Japan little alley streets where hidden little food outlets serves the local. Serving up small BBQ dishes with booze is what Yokocho is about, a taste of street food in Japan is here in Sydney.
Newly opened this year and already my friends have been gushing about it all over social media. And of course I am not one to miss out on having Yakiniku for the very first time in my life!. There was a short queue when we arrived and we only had to wait for around 10mins before being seated inside. The waiter warned us that we only had an hour window as the seat we were to be seated in is reserved in an hour.. And so, we agreed to try to finish within the hour as long as the food arrive quickly 🙂
Good ambiance make me feel like I was in Japan.Good price for lunch special and recommended to come with a group.👍😋😍🔥🇯🇵 #yakinikuyokocho #sydneyyakiniku
This restaurant was absolutely amazing. I love the atmosphere, I was kindly welcomed by every member of staff including the chefs, it's not too loud or rowdy, no one is packed in too close together either.
I also bought two drinks as seen in the image, serving size of the drinks are generous and completely worth it, unlike many Japanese bbq restaurants in the area.
The meat was reasonably priced, and the quality was absolutely beautiful - the best I've ever had compared to plenty of other restaurants based in CBD.
Thank you Yakiniku Yokocho for an amazing experience, this restaurant is now my favourite bbq place 💖
There was a 40 minute wait for this place which wasn't too bad because I wasn't STARVING but if I was... Well... That's another story.
There was a small selection of meat although, when I went the premium ones were out of stock :(
There are MANY side dishes and the salmon sashimi was FREAKING AMAZING and I encourage you to try it. The Miso Cheese was odd... It's uh... Cream cheese with a bit of Miso on top, I believe? Honestly, it just tasted like a cube of cream cheese.
The seafood salad (also a side dish) was yummy and the lobster salad was alright.
The boneless short rib and rib fingers were delicious cuts of meat and they were pretty good quality too. I would highly recommend trying them out!
The yukke (raw meat) was also very delicious so I suggest you try that out too!
The sausages were super juicy and delicious but I don't think I would order them again. I'd probably go for the beef instead! 😂
I went there with my friend who is a vegan. Despite that they gave us a time limit, my friend and I agreed that 2 hours is more than sufficient so we were not put off by it. My friend didn't tell me that she is a vegan so I was pleased with the amount of items that she was able to choose from. The service was amazing! My friend just walked from the bus stop and was thristy, so she kept finishing the cup of water while the staff was setting up our BBQ. They then brought her 2 cups! That was so helpful :) thank you! ごちそうさまでした!!
Best quality meats that I have ever had! Loving the authentic Japanese decor and the hot/cold vending machines are amazing. Would definitely return again and encourage family and friends to try
Very fresh meat. The beef tongue is pretty good. Prices were increased significantly than before due to the inflation. My table was not cleaned properly and I requested one waitress to clean again, but she just use a wet cloth to wipe a drop of sauce on my table.
Had a great meal with a few friends here. The wait on a Friday night was a bit intense but I think we all thought it was worth it. The ambiance is good and in general the quality of the meats is very nice. We did feel like the grill wasn’t super hot, but we still managed to get some nice char on our mountains of beef. A really surprise was the stewed of meat; that stuff was addictive!!!
A great reasonably priced and good quality yakiniku place in the city.
An enjoyable place the eat Japanese barbecue.
Firstly, you must book here especially on a weekend as there are a lot of people waiting here.
The food was quite nice with the meat having good marbling and taste. The grill also gave the meat a subtle char and smoky flavour. The marinates also made the meat taste good alongside with the dipping sauces.
The table was quite spacious and large. Ordering on an iPad was simple and food came out quite quick.
However, the meal is quite expensive costing us around $40 per person to be somewhat full. The items on the menu were missing such as lettuce and some salads which a bit unfortunate as we wanted to get them. Changing the grill costs $2 which is a bit petty to me and they are one use only compared to a reusable grill.
Overall an enjoyable meal with good meat.
Loved visiting! They have amazing marinated meats especially the MUST TRY boneless beef short ribs which we ordered twice. It's delicious either accomodating staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The only downside is the price but it's worth it for celebrations and with larger groups! Also be sure to arrive early or book as it can get quite busy. (The pork ribs are also pretty good! )
Extremely fast service!
Tasted amazing!
Love the vibe!
I really enjoyed my visit here which in fact paid a second visit 2 days after my first time dining here 😂
I am a big fan of yakiniku and this was the first restaurant I tried in Sydney. Definitely worth a visit if you would like to try Japanese bbq.
Meat quality is exceptional!
Booking in advance is essential to avoid long waiting time although this food was definitely worth the ~20 mins waiting time. My favorite is the yukke and I always feel like one bowl is never enough 🤤 the beef finger rib and ox tongue are also recommended!
An incredible atmosphere and wonderful place for Japanese bbq! The meat was high quality and so soft. The staff were mostly Japanese too which I appreciate. There is no buffet option so is good for groups who don’t want to eat too much!
Make sure you book as it can be very busy.
One of my favourite bbq places in Sydney. The meat is always of top quality and so fresh. The side dishes really compliment the bbq well and the staff are always so helpful and friendly. Will continue coming here for years to come!
