Review Yummy One - Sydney

The picture menu plastered everywhere might give you vertigo at first. Breathe and sit down, the (picture) menu comes quick. The usual suspects on the menu fried rice, char kway teo, crispy chicken etc. They're mainly quick fix individual dishes. My soya chook was tasty. Prices not as cheap and cheerful as the rest of this small eatery. But service was efficient and verging on friendly.

Definitely regret not looking it up on google before I first get takeaway from here. It has great room for improvement in terms of both food and service. Prior and during ordering, staff seems friendly by walking to front of the store and handing me the menu. She answered my questions in appropriate manners. However, when my order was ready, not sure if it was because of more customers, she just yelled at me in Chinese saying "Hey! Your food is ready!" and waved me over to pick it up at the counter. Instead of walking to me to deliver over even just handing me the food over the counter. I don't actually mind to wait for a few more minutes for a better manner. I got even angrier when I started eating. Seemingly overnight roast pork that have been reheated to serve customer. Fried tofu but soggy. Food was not fresh. Even the price and portion was nice, took me quite an effort to finish the food.

Came here past ten for a favourite dish, hai nan chicken rice. Here I found the portion to be more than fair for a $13.50 takeaway. The rice and broth were flavourful though the chicken was slightly dry, and I was sad to find only a minimal pack of ginger sauce ☹️ sadness! Expected a bit more lovin from the dish on the front of their menu

The trademark omlette fried rice is bit salty but quite nice and large portions. Staff can be atrocious though with very aggressive attitude. But I think this is just the culture more than anything. If you don't care for service this place is ok, defo give the omlette wrapped fried rice a go. Price is also leaning on the slightly steep side for the food and service you're getting.

Great place to grab a quick bite. Not many seats, might have to wait or takeaway. Variety of dishes and decent pricing. Average taste, alright value for what you pay for.

A medicore experience. It was more a desperate attempt to squash my hunger and this was the only outlet available. Food was oily and soaked with excessive fat. I'll. Go somewhere else next time

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!! THE CHASIER IS EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I reply the Cashier is extremely rude. She speaks to us in mandarin at the beginning to have us to wait to be seat and order first. (That's my fault as I thought that most of the restaurant is like that.) When i get to order, i ordered in madarine because she speak to me in madarine. What happened was that she acted like she doesn't know how to speak mandarin. The food taste terrible as well. Will not go back there again!

Food are very oily. Staff are not friendly especially at night time. They always apply different prices for the same food if I do not request a receipt before payment. They also apply ETPOS transaction fee, weekend, late night and public holiday surcharges on food price.

Its good for take away and dine in but the place just small so usually i just do takeaway. A lot of variant food they sell. The taste just decent and was normal.

I visited on a friend's recommendation. She particularly loves the fried rice which tasted great indeed. But I'm a believer that what makes a restaurant perfect is not only its food but also the vibe which mostly comes from the staff. The girls behind the counter were particularly disrespectful in all ways possible. They will chit chat even while you're ordering food, in their own language, making your uncomfortable. They laugh at customers who they think are stupid enough to not notice and get annoyed at every little request. The food we ordered apart from the rice was awful and the service made the whole experience a huge bad decision. But I wouldn't blame the taste as I can live with that as long as I am offered warmth in the place I visit. Wouldn't recommend this place if you dont enjoy being unwelcomed and mocked at.

Has to be the most miserable place on earth to eat, these people are low lives, cheap and nasty. esp the girls behind the counter, they are very rude, and very ugly, dirty and make me feel like puking whenever I've eaten there, {4 times} they swear at customers in Mandarin and will rip you off every chance they can get, they underfill take away orders {3 times} and give you rice mostly with hardly any ingredient, overpriced for what you get and the food is average and filled with MSG and garlic powder. I would never recommend this place.

Yummy One is a twofer: a Hong Kong coffee shop complete with luncheon meat sandwiches and coffee-tea. And they're also a dab hand at Chinese-Malaysian, sweet, shiny and glorious. It's the crowds that lured us into Yummy One, this place is never empty. We like to visit outside lunch/dinner when there's just a few punters, we can switch off for a while and pretend we're in Hong Kong. There's just something about Yummy One that screams 'Hongkers!' to us. Maybe it's the east/west condiment sets on the table, maybe it's the walls plastered with menus and meal deals, maybe it's that ruthlessly efficient service. Whatever it is, we just love the utilitarian city diner vibe of this place.

We were just coming back from canberra and wanna try to have dinner here. They didnt welcome us instead they told us in a rude way to put our small luggage on the floor. And i am like "what the f*ck" dont i havent got a common sense to put my luggage on the floor? Not only that, when we ordered a singaporean noodle, she said this noodle will be with pork, and only have 2 prawns (in a very very bad english) and since i hardly understand, i was saying "pardon" and she repeated in a rude way like expressing we are stupid enough not to understand her. OMG, i hate this place so much!!! I waited 10 mins and trying to do a revenge, we just leave this place even though we know that our food is cooked. Who cares? πŸ˜‚ it is monday, queens birthday around 8.05pm. I really hope that the business owner checked who worked there and try to educate them if you want your business to have a change. So freaking LOW CLASS.

Great food, good value, lots of varieties, fast service and very nice staff. Highly recommend it! Big portion too. Me and my 2 teenage boys were visiting Sydney and this place was just around the corner from the hotel. We thought we tried it once but then ended up having dinner there every night (3 nights). Ordered different menu everytime and always satisfying.

Had an awesome char kway tao here, delicious flavor, nice balance of ingredients, nice and hot straight from the wok. Hong Kong milk tea hit the spot too. Staff were friendly, will go back for more! Partner enjoyed his Hainan chicken rice too, it's served with plain rice but he prefers that.

It was the worst food i've ever had... ordered the crispy chicken with fried rice but the chicken skin wasnt crispy at all and it's smell like they didnt change the oil for very long time... the fried rice was plan taste. Just cook it with egg, garlic and soy sauce... no passion at all.. and it was pretty expensive.. no worth it...
Probably the worst place to go eat around Chinatown. Decided to check this place out since there always seems to be a decent amount of people dining here.

The place has a rather large menu with a mixture of asian cuisines as mentioned by a past reviewer (Chinese, Thai & Malaysian from memory). Alarm bells should've rang as the menu was quite large & going from experience places that do more than one cuisine tend to not be very good & I end up having a sad experience.

I ordered the laksa & my friend ordered the bbq noodle soup. As soon as my laksa came to the table I was already a bit hesitant as the soup base did not look like the usual laksa. I tried to force a few mouthfuls down but just had to stop because it was just not laksa. It was rather sour & salty & did not have the slightest hint of flavour that resembled a laksa, a really sad attempt. Surely you can go down to one of the asian supermarkets & get a laksa paste. I'd rather that then what I had.

My friend advised me that the soup base for their dish could've had more flavour & was disappointed as well.

Service was ok & did not experience the rudeness from staff unlike past reviewers.

All in all, for the prices you pay this place is not worth it. You have another chinese restaurant down the road that does lunch specials & thai as well.

Suffice to say, I'm glad Breadtop was around the corner as I was still hungry due to not eating my laksa.

Service is a total and complete rubbish. Rude and unaccommodating asian staffs, menu was actually thrown in your table. Food was just salty and msg

Really bad experience. To be honest the food is of acceptable standard, but the service is like hell. Last time I went there to have lunch with my mate, the female cashier staff (tall, chinese) was so bossy. Entering a chinese restaurant like that, we didn't expect her to say Hello or Thank you or anything like that. But at least give us some basic respect! First of all, her emotions didn't show that we were welcomed at all. When we entered, not a single word was said, only thing she did was to throw the menu onto our table. And when we were to pay the bill, she just grabbed the credit card from my hands. What an attitude! Also, as my mate knows some Cantonese, he could tell that she was swearing in Cantonese all the time, very likely to be swearing at customers without them knowing. That was our first time being there, also the last time. We will definitely not go there ever again. We paid for everything - we weren't supposed to be treated that way.

The waitress is nice enough except she only speaks Mandarin. The menu is pan-Asian, Malaysian, Thai, Indonesian, but the majority is Chinese.

I'm having the fried chicken with egg on rice. It comes out looking not much like the menu. The amber, crispy chicken is no where to be seen. That would be because it's pork.

Oh well, actually it wasn't bad and the chicken yolk is runny, no chance it'd stick to the pan evidenced by the oily residue.

I prob should learn Mandarin.

I should hate this eatery but there's a happy go lucky attitude which I find endearing.
