Finally got to try the charcoal grilled fish n chips and they were amazing! fish cooked perfectly- that skin, so good! there's a lot of care that went to preparing the fish, it was so clean! I would have liked another piece of lemon and a little bit of seasoning (salt) on the white flesh part of the fish
The chips are so moreish and perfect accompaniment to the fish
Service wise, the cashier was a bit dismissive and seemed in a hurry (though there weren't anyone else waiting behind us at the time) and since it is 'take away' only, would've liked to be offered some cutlery, rather than having to come back to ask for it
Despite that, we would definitely go back just so we can try other items on offer such as the lasagna and fish pie
We recently tried its sister store, Charcoal Fish, and we prefer the OG store

Really want to like the takeaway here but unfortunately tried twice and not convinced. First time when it just opened found everything super greasy. Today, the murray cod fish burger had an unpleasant floury pasty taste and texture. Peeled back the batter to try the fish alone but it had a fairly strong river taste which is maybe usual but not enjoyable. The crumbed fish and chips - fish was great, chips pretty good.

An incredible experience. Both the fish and the chips managed to remain crisp despite a 15 minute bus ride home. The fish was both meaty and substantive but still delicate and tender. It was incredible with the yoghurt tartare sauce.
The chips had a lovely potato flavor and had a great ratio of waxy potato flesh to crisp exterior. Although I did not get a chance to try, the charcoal grilled fish, battered fish and gelato on a stick all caught my eyes Already looking forward to my next visit.

Very good produce. The master chef judges would’ve gone to town on the bones. Definitely impacted the over all experience.

Amazing place with a variety of delicious goods, most all either fish based or fish incorporated to take away.
Their fish pies have the best pie pastry I've ever eaten and all in all delicious. The lasagna is also superb. We did try the ice-cream and while really nice, some of the fishier bites is quite overwhelming. I also personally wasn't the biggest fan of the fish broth, though I do appreciate it. Oohhh the hotsauce is amazing too!!
For some reason my Google review of Saint Peter isn't posting but gave 5/5. The only reason why I give the fish butchery 4 stars was purely as I wasn't personally a fan of all the dishes, but appreciate the love and attention Josh and his team put into all their fish food and ventures.

$28 for fish and chips really? Below average chips and batter on the fish close to being burnt. I'm all for premium prices for premium food and location/ views but the lack of quality for views of buses on Bourke St- Waterloo does not justify this price- absolute highway robbery.

The fish and chips was amazingly done however it was a little to salty for my young child.
Thus she didn't enjoyed the food as much as her older sister who enjoyed the saltiness and the crispy batter.
We also had the NZ king fish that I thought it was a little under cooked and a bit chill on the inside. The cook claims that they used a thermometer to ensure that it was cooked to the correct temperature. We just decided to cut off that particular slice and chuck it away as there wasn't any need to argue over a piece a grilled fish. The chips that came with this dish was soggy unlike the fish and chips one.
Cabbage salad was good.
Overall experience, worth a try and most likely for us we won't be back again. The NZ grilled king fish was very expensive for its slice but totally comprehend the expensive wages and rent and utilises that need to he include .
Didn't take any pic cos it wasn't worth a pic.

The fish itself I'm sure is a top quality product, but unfortunately the thick, oil soaked, batter encasing it completely ruins it. We also ordered the calamari which was also dripping in oil and therefore unpalatable. None of us could finish anything we ordered and we were left feeling sick from the few mouthfuls of the awful batter we ate.
Chips would have been alright, except the buckets of oil from the fish batter had started to soak in.
So disappointing, and definitely not worth the prices they are charging.

Paddington hot spot. I really butcher of fish and seafood. Creative concept!

Fot that price I expected one slice of lemon. and I guess they forgot the sauce but I had already left without checking the box and so ate a dry fish and chips. probably not value for money.

Come on, guys!! You must be able to do better than this. I just had grilled flathead with chips and onion rings. There were three big bones in the fish, and that from a 'fish butcher', the chips were soggy and uber greasy, the batter on the onion rings was burned. The oil went right through the bottom and sides and came out the other sides of the cardboard boxes. The only good thing was the taste of the actual vinegar onion. I expected such good things from this place after reading the reviews but I guess this is Sydney hype at its top.

Oyster lovers take note. Oysters are available for takeaway but hopefully their plans for seating will mean a quick dine in option as well. They can pop the shells for takeaway but you'll need to fully open them yourself due to health regulations. Organic Wapengo Sydney Rock Oysters ($4 each) are a good choice. Bermagui Pink Ling, Chips & Yoghurt Tartare Sauce ($20) is a very generous portion of two pieces of well cooked fish with ultra thin and crispy batter and tasty crispy hand cut chips with real flavour. Goes well with the yummy tartare sauce. I'd recommend sharing between two unless you're a big eater. They were still sorting out takeaway cutlery when I visited so have some handy if needed. I probably didn't need the Potato Scallop ($3) but it's always a nice fryday treat if you're sharing your chips. As a special and tempting treat the Hand picked Ballina Spanner Crab ($22, 100g) caught my eye on display. Nice clean pieces of yummy crab meat presented in a clean shell. Would go well with a squeeze of lemon and some cocktail sauce that isn't included. If dining at Saint Peter, Paddington it's usually served with a Coral Sauce. For somewhere close to sit head across the road for some casual seating outside around the church.
