We arrived without a booking, so we were seated in the lounge area to start with, but the staff has tried to cater our request on a table with a view, not only that they helped us later on before our meal arrive, they even got us a complinentary sides. they do daily specials menu, 15% surcharge on public holiday.
This restaurant offers unique and tasty fresh made dishes. The oysters were super fresh and delicious. Staff were friendly and kind.
Great food in a fun atmosphere!
Spectacular views of Sydney harbour as you sit down and enjoy your meal. Service is outstanding and the food is fresh and delicious. Pricing point is a bit expensive, but expected for the location and quality of this restaurant.
so good. I only wanted to wore this bt have to write 140 characters so I will just keep saying it - so so so good! lol. great for a date and a lot of fun with friends. Make sure you sit on the balcony to really enjoy the space
I’ve been here for Christmas lunch. We could choose between 2 menus, one regular and one vegetarian, $290 per person.
I’ve eaten quail breast and king salmon.
I loved the combination of flavours!
Staff was very good, professionally looking after the client. Probably just too long wait between entree, main course and dessert.
The place is located on the 5th floor and there’s a nice view of the Harbour bridge.
We definitely spent a good Christmas there.
CS undoubtedly offers one of the best restaurant harbour views in Sydney, if not the best and this is really why you come here. The food while good is almost incidental. As you would expect it’s not your ‘cheap eats’ but it is perfect for those looking for a truly magical experience and prepared to pay for it. Their wine list is diverse and priced accordingly, the service attentive and as I mentioned the food is of good quality but serves are compact to say the least. Overall CS comes recommended for the view and ambience if for no other reason.
Food: delicious! Octopus appetizer and chocolate caramel slice dessert was our fav dishes of the night. Both were mind blowing delicious! Bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked/baked. Dessert is a must order! Also, had the Tandoori Salmon and Barramundi Zucchini dishes for main and both were delicious. The Salmon was lean and not oily which is great cuz I love healthy food. Had one order of Naan and one order of Garlic Naan, great texture and delicious, I liked the plain Naan more than the garlic naan but both were great, they give u plenty of Naan so one order ($3) is good for one person.
Service: friendly and good. Only complain is that the server clears the plate too fast....still eating and they pull the plate away while my dad had his fork with food in hand.....felt annoyed. They need to slow it down when clearing the plates and give us a minute to breathe.
Have not been here for a while but its always good to return to one of my favourite restaurants. The good thing is while the menu changes seasonally, the classics remain. I always order the seafood platter which is a great way to start a meal. The seafood is fresh and delicious and sets you up for wanting more. Most of the mains are top-notch but I am partial to the slow-cooked beef cheek. This is heaven on a plate! Service is impeccable. And then there is that unbeatable view! Highly recommended.
Always a good time at cafe Sydney. Spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. And the food is always top notch. The food is as good as the view, if not better! Seasonal changing menu, so you can keep returning for more.
Cafe Sydney is a Sydney dining icon and deserves a place on the “Must Do” list. The views are expansive and riding the elevator up is a treat in itself.
Evening out with friends, central spot to circular quay, great view of the harbour, nice food but very overpriced, a few food stuff ups by our waiter and greeting staff on the front desk have a very over inflated sense of importance and themselves, need a refresher on customer service.
Great views, perfect for a corporate lunch or a birthday dinner. Excellent food and personal service. If it’s in season get the crab and rip it to pieces like a boss.
Amazing restaurant with a view to match! Came here for lunch without a booking and they were able to accommodate us. The food was outstanding, couldn’t fault anything. Definitely will come back whenever I’m in Sydney.

WOW. The best lunch hands down!
A big thank you to Cafe Sydney for serving us a wonderful perfect lunch and making the celebration of our wedding anniversary even more special.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the staff were absolutely friendly and perfect. Very tentative to the point that our waitress remembered that we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and (assuming) she informed the chef to put a happy anniversary message on both of our desserts.
The food was very delicious, melt in your mouth goodness. I ordered a steak tenderloin for my main. WOW! WOW! I asked for medium rare and I got exactly medium rare. Perfect, full of flavour and couldn't fault it.
We had:
Entree 1 - Grilled Baby Octopus, Salt Cod Croquette, Pea Puree, Squid Ink Mayonnaise, Lemon, Sorrel
Entree 2 - Nimbin Valley Goat Cheese Tart, Tomato, Pine Nut, Crisp Eggplant, Basil, Balsamic.
Main 1 - Ricotta Gnochi, Pumpkin Cream, Mushroom, Sage Butter, Parmesan
Main 2 - Black Angus Beef Tenderloin, Bacon, Pink Peppercorn, Porcini Butter, Celeriac Cream, Roasted Onion.
Dessert 1 - Special for the day Lemon Cheesecake with Lime Ice Cream.
Dessert 2 - Apple Tart.
I can say so much how great and perfect the food was but I think you need to visit Cafe Sydney for yourself so you can experience the food
Looking forward to my next visit.
Atmosphere - what else can you ask for. The establishment itself is set up on two levels. Level 1 is a small bar with a few seats. Up the stairs is the restaurant.
There are more then enough seats however booking is strongly recommended.
I would have liked if the seats weren't so close to each other. Sitting so close to strangers you didn't have the 'privacy' to be able to talk in private to your partner...
The view is spectacular. You can see opera house and the bridge pending where you are sitting at.
I would suggest wearing smart casual as this is not a 'cheap' restaurant.
I have visited Cafe Sydney several times and have enjoyed it everytime I visit. Good service and great food and great location to catch up with friends.
Came in for a late lunch on Sat and the place was packed. Was immediately told by the receptionist that we can only get a table if we grab a main each. We were dressed pretty casually so I’m guessing she thought we couldn’t afford the food?!? But the food and the remaining service immediately made up for this little glitch. There were plenty of seafood platters roaming around so can only be a good thing. We ordered prawns and the flathead. Both delish. Highlights: extremely attentive service. Great ambience. Lowlights: it was on the pricey side for lunch.
Awesome view even during the day. Outdoor seating was well sheltered and comfortable even for a summer brunch. Will be back for dinner next time.
Cafe Sydney is definitely a place to go with friends, family and/or partners (that romantic one on one date). I have been experienced Cafe Sydney twice, in the summer and winter months, both times of year offering great food, good service and a lovely ambience (even if the weather was overcast).
Coming here with friends, we were able to order a few dishes and share between us, giving us a good variety of the cuisine.
Food: extremely tasty and fresh
Service: both times to Cafe Sydney we had great waiters who knew the menu, specials and even provided wine recommendations to coincide with what we had chosen to eat - much appreciated!
Ambience: I don't think the ambience could have been better. The view out to Sydney Harbour is spectacular and definitely one of the reasons I will be heading back.
Recommend: Risotto, Pork Belly and ask for their cocktails - espresso martini was delicious, as was the Poco Loco. It does all depend on what you prefer though - give them all a go!
VEGAN MENU?! AMAZING! The most wonderful dining experience by far! We came here for my friends 23rd birthday. Both my friends aren’t vegan so it was just me getting the vegan menu and the staff was so lovely and accommodating. The vegan menu was just as innovative and appealing as the regular menu. I chose the Dosa for my main as suggestive by our server and it didn’t disappoint. It was so worth the price! Incredibly delicious, well seasoned and spiced, large and had so many beautiful flavours and textures going on. For dessert I had the Lamington, which was delicious as well. A little too much crumb and definitely needed an ice cream, but the chocolate cake part was beautifully moist and super chocolatey.
Will 100% come here again! Amazing service, amazing food, amazing views!
We have dined here many times in the past and did so again on Saturday Night.
This place has the best food , the best views and the best service.
I love it , i just can't get enough of it and i look forward to my next dining experience.
I have been coming to this iconic restaurant for years and it has always delivered beautiful views, food and service. The menu changes with the seasons but has has the same foundation through the times and it has a huge variety to please different tastes and preferences. On my latest visit it was busy as usual and it is always a good idea to book ahead and arrive a little earlier for one of the delicious cocktails in the lounge. The food is beautifully presented and stunning to look at. I always prefer the entrees and it was no exception this time round. Cured salmom belly and kingfish ceviche were fresh, light yet flavoursome. The peach gazpacho was again beautiful and sweet which I found a little overpowering for the delicate blue swimmer crab flesh on top. The grilled halloumi was a generous slab and cooked beautifully served with fresh figs. And fresh oysters and prawns which are simple but stunning. The mains and desserts were also good. The roasted snapper special, barramundi and eye fillet were all good. The pick of the mains was the pork belly, loin and crackling with black pudding. Perhaps the least visual dish but definitely the most delicious. Loved the side of greens and duck fat potatoes seemes a winner. Desserts were again pretty and light. A lovely place to enjoy and indulge.
If anyone will have to name the best cafes in sydney then this cafe is surely gonna be in their list because of the many things the view from their balcony is just amazing and food is also very tasty, wishes to go there again whenever I get a chance.
Totally recommend.
We hosted a birthday celebration here in a private room. We had a set menu to choose from with entree, main and dessert. We had to purchase the birthday cake from them also and no BYO wine etc. Which was all fine because the quality was fantastic. With the cake, the food was extremely generous. Unfortunately for those who ordered the steak it was a lil under cooked but they kindly presented us with new dishes. Whilst the pictures shows beautiful view from the private function room, in real life that wasn't the case. It was situated behind the other patrons and set further back. So that was a lil disappointing as we looked forward to the 180degree view. Hence the 4 stars, but you really couldn't fault the food.
Overall the experience was enjoyable and the service was amazing and catered to all of our needs. The food was delicious, however the serving sizes were quite small. The quality did not make up for the small size. In Brisbane, we could have had larger meals for the same price. You are definitely paying for the view. My partner and I would go back to try more of the menu.
Amazing location with a fabulous view of the harbour bridge at the terrace. Glad that we booked more than a month in advance. We ordered oysters, seafood based dishes and fennel orange salad. Everything was so fresh & delicious! Desserts definitely not to be missed at this restaurant and the blood orange trifle was out of this world!! Thank you to Cafe Sydney team for such a fabulous lunch!!
Again a farewell dinner, my last night in Sydney and this called for a dinner with a view. This place was perfect - amazing view of the harbour bridge and what else can you ask for. The food was decent again I have had better so it definitely needs improvement. There should be more veggie options on the menu. The potions were too small as compared to what we’ve been charged. The service and the ambience was the highlight of the night.
Food - 3/5
Ambience - 5/5
Value for Money - 3/5
Service - 4/5
The service and food are great. The waiters are so professional, very attentive and pay attention for even small issues.
You are expected to pay a bit pricy side if you consider the portion size. For main course, you need to order side dishes (to share) if you are big eater. Even though, the price is worth for the entire experience.
If you’d like to sit the terrace, you must book well in advance. Even for table for two, it was hard to book a month ahead (during mild weather season).
Such a premium experience, with the food, service and the view.
Visited for first time today and it was Fantastic food, service and spectacular views. Will definitely come back !!! Must try the French 75 and Cheese platter and the Mexican standoff cocktails 🍹 to die for..😋😋
A perfect venue to big celebrations the most amazing panoramic view of Sydney and never a bad meal. Ambiance is exceptional as well as the service. I highly recommend their roasted potatoes which are coated in duck fat, rosemary and dollop of cream, their three milk haloumi & chocolate & peanut caramel tart
Cafe Sydney lives up to its expectations. With superb view which can be seen from any table in the restaurant, the food served was great. It was my first time trying Moreton bay bugs and I have to say, I was impressed with the quality AND quantity of the food. My mains were good but not great. The dessert was to die for. Would rate it 4.5, but since Zomato does not allow for half stars, I am going for the full five.
Food was good
And special thanks to the waiter, I think his name was Rhys?
So he did ask if we were there for any special occasion, so I did tell him it was my birthday. And of course he did say happy birthday to me.
The meal was good, I liked everything. Then the dessert came out and I received a plate with the happy birthday written on it. And they even gave you a lil plate (I think it was some apricot sort of candies?) with a candle on top.
That was very kind! And the service was really fast and professional.
Been here a few times and always had the salted caramel martini, its a very creamy cocktail, really nice and sweet. I love it!
Service 5/5 🌟
Food 4.5/5 🌟
Beautiful view and beautiful food! The food was excellent! Could not fault the food at all. We dined for our wedding anniversary. The only downfall is that the place can seem a bit crowded. The tables are too close together. It felt like we were dining with the next table. Otherwise it is a good place.
Excellent service and awesome views. Food was quite nice. The croquette was rather fishy and crispy. The main I had was gnocchi quite oily and fatty. Could not finish the whole thing. My partner loved the experience. The desserts were delightful.
Great service, everyone was welcoming when we arrived. Incredible views was able to get a table just inside before the balcony. They were able to cater to a dairy, egg & wheat allergy and were very accommodating and careful. They had approached us a few times to double check the allergy and check cooking with cross contamination, which I appreciated.
A nice more relaxed version of fine dining, less pretentious and had families and kids when we were there. Would love to go there again for the next special occasion.
Really nice restaurant with great views. Try to get an outside table to maximise the atmosphere. Can be expensive but is worth it for a special occasion
Great food, great service, great view and great atmosphere! Food portions a bit small but worthy!
Don’t have to wait too long between each course as well.
Fantastic service, beautiful food and wine!
A must visit whether you are a local or visiting our beautiful City!
And it was a full house, speaks for itself!
The view is what you come here for. Its such a beautiful setting and I thoroughly enjoyed the service and the food. Its on the pricey side but that should be the least of your worries when looking out on the water. The food is beautifully presented and fish cooked to perfection. Definitively recommend this as a special treat if you're in Sydney.
Went to Cafe Sydney for a family celebratory dinner and WOW!
Everyone was happy with all the food they ordered ranging from naan bread, salmon, pork salads and dessert, not to mention the beautiful view of Sydney Harbour!!
I️ had:
- salt cod croquette, zucchini flower, poached prawn, romesco, lemon parsley dressing (appetiser)
- tandoori roasted Ora king salmon, spices tomato, aloo tiki, mint yoghurt and pickled cucumber (main)
- salted caramel, chocolate peanut tart, banana fritter, chocolate ice cream (dessert)
- toasted coconut margarita
Drinks and food were all gorgeous, the dessert was very sweet (but shared amongst 4 made it okay)
This restaurant is rather expensive but worth it for a special occasion!
All staff were friendly and efficient as well as very knowledgeable in regards to the menu!
Pictured are our cocktails, the view and the entree.
Service was excellent, very attentive waiter. Beef tenderloin was very tender and tasty. Fish was not so nice. The mashed potatoes had an excess of oil for some reason and there was oil left on the top. The dessert was nice and imaginative with a good blend of flavours. Overall a good restaurant.
Been here a couple of years ago as well, great restaurant and service and amazing view looking over the harbour bridge, booked 6 weeks before to get a window seat. Fantastic food, very modern and tasty.

THAT VIEW! It's only fair to serve beautiful, local produce with that view to do our beautiful city justice. I highly recommend the zucchini flowers! Just gorgeous and super light!
One of the most stunning location to have meal that I ever tried in my life. Visited here to have lunch with my wife, seated at the balcony overlooking the great Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. A restaurant with fantastic view.
Food was awesome from appetizer to dessert. Had a very nice pork belly and duck dish when I visited here few years ago. Dessert of chocolate, peanut, and caramel was sublime. Service was professional.
Came here for dinner and the view was absolutely stunning. Ordered the naan bread as entree, it was ok, but a bit oily. For main we ordered the steak, king salmon, prawns and the john dory (special of the night). All the food was cooked very nicely but portion was a bit too small. Ordered the peanut butter banana fritter for dessert and it tastes so delicious, the strawberry delice was also ok. Will defitinitely be back!
This is my favourite venue. The food and cocktails are amazing, the service excellent, the staff are attentive and the view us second to none.
Cafe Sydney have a seperate vegan menu you can ask for, and I have to say the dishes are delightful. Drinks not so much. We ordered two different mocktails but they pretty much tasted the same. My green tea one had no green tea. 😔
In terms of food, as with any other fine dining restaurant, I found the entrees superior to the mains. We had the marinated eggplant and dutch cream potato gnocchi, and both were divine. Definitely should have ordered the gnocchi as a main! 😝
Portions were larger than we expected but no complaints here! 😉 For mains we had the confit potato with truffle mayonnaise, and it was as amazing as it sounds. However, I did find it pretty heavy and creamy after a while, but that's just me (I can't take creamy in big doses). If you can, you will be in heaven with every bite. The mille feuille was something a little different, and tbh I still don't really know what it is. It was definitely a different flavour to the norm and what we expected, so if you're up for adventure giving this a go won't be a bad idea.
Then we ordered the strawberry sorbet and vanilla vacherin for dessert and we were stuffed. Would stick with the strawberry though, the vanilla one was soooo sweet which means I was not a fan unfortunately.
Cafe Sydney has a great view especially if you sit outside, and for this reason it seemed quite touristy, but the cost is actually quite affordable compared to other fine dining establishments who also offer a good view.
I came here recently for dinner and had the most beautiful experience. First of all the view of the harbour was amazing and this was complimented by the amazing and friendly service and delicious food.
We had the Gruyere Soufflé which was a standout, Beef Carparccio, Been Tenderloin and Scotch fillet for mains and the most delicious hazelnut mousse cake to finish off a perfect meal.
I can't wait to come back here!
Great location... Plan ahead and work out if you are best inside or on the balcony! Cocktails are great, starters, mains and desserts are tasty... I love every experience at this place - they could pick up on the service however!! The table service lacks a little sincerity and attention!!
Spectacular views over the harbour bridge and the opera house. Worth going there for this alone.
We shared the Seafood Platter, crab, scampi, oysters, lobster, prawns, Morton bay bugs, so much we were beaten and had to pass on some to the bottomless bloke.
Not so full to pass on desert though and a desert martini. The espresso was the hero of that course.
A fantastic experience overall.
My partner and I went here for our 2 year anniversary and it was incredibly wonderful. Located at the top of the custom's house it boasts incredible views of darling harbour and the harbour bridge. We booked a table and even though it was outside during winter we were very comfortable with provided blankets and gas heaters. The food and service itself was nothing short of excellence my partner had the suckling pork and I had the beef tenderloin and both were delicious. This experience combines the excitement of rooftop views of Sydney with excellent wining and dining.
This place needs no words! I would jump to my ratings.
Food - Beautiful (yes I had to click pictures before I could start eating), tasty and exotic 5/5
Ambience - Has to be 5/5 with the Opera house and Harbour bridge view!
Service - Extremely friendly and mindful group of people serve you here. Being a vegetarian they took extra care while taking my order and to my surprise had some of the best vegetarian dishes to offer. It's a clear 5/5
Cost - Well luxury comes at a price. So what should I say - 5/5 :)
Would love to visit them again some day!
A GREAT VENUE FOR VIVID SYDNEY The wait staff are very attentive without being intrusive. The food is exceptional which compliments a great view of Circulsr Quay & The Harbour Bridge. I will be back!
DINNER
Great place, love everything about it. This is my number one restaurant, it was crazy good, never experienced anything like it. If you need to impress anybody just take them here. If I lived in Sydney I would go to this place all the time. Everything about it is so damn perfect, 6 stars from me and I'm the hard to please person!!!
Went here on busy weekend but they managed to give great service! The waiters were so friendly and lovely. Foods were distinctive! They are all great! My favourite will be baramundi, mozarella salad, oyster, and all the desserts. The ambience of this restaurant is really nice companied with harbour bridge view from top of the building. Had such a good lunch in Cafe Sydney. Thankyou ❤
Flawless from start to finish. Good vegetarian options, I'm only sad we weren't hungrier so I could have eaten more. Stand out for me was service though - the staff were happy to go along with how excited we were to be in Sydney with this amazing view, made everything feel very special for us, and never for a moment hinted we were a little under dressed (although we were) and just made sure we had a really special night. Thank you!
Way way way overpriced on their wine list. A bottle that sells for $32.95 they want $100 for. I get making your money on the beverages but this shouldn't be over $60. Food wise still one of the best restaurants in Sydney. The view and the venue are awesome. The staff are the best I have ever dealt with and been served by. And the food is so so delicious. Plated to perfection and still ok portion sizes. A few things are starting to get a bit small for the price due to trying to upscale the ingredients. But it's still decent sizes just. Don't go all super yuppie on us. Keep the fresh great dishes but don't get so la di da that I leave still hungry.
The quality of the food and the service was exceptional! The seafood was extremely fresh and they were the best oysters I have ever eaten! Definately a must try!!
We went there on the hottest day of 45 degrees and the restaurant has no AC 😂... however, the food quality was amazing!! Definite recommend the seafood platter. I had the pork belly, it was so taste. Even thou the environement was a disaster, but the food~ yum!
P&K Tasty AF Adventures
+4.5
Always a pleasure here, brilliant attention to detail and service at standards you would expect.
We had a $300 voucher so went to town on entrees, cocktails and little extras.
Only compliant the pork belly was a little dry and overbearing.
Cocktails great!
Good value for money, we felt like we got a lot for $300z
Pinot was great from Barossa. (Cheaper side @ $78) wines go up from there.
Expect a 2 month wait if you want a table at the front looking over the water. It's worth it.
Food was good but not great- the asparagus and feta tart was yummy, but that might just have been because feta is always yummy. The salad it was served with was pretty boring. The asparagus, pea, pecorino and broad bean risotto was plentiful and had good texture but was a little on the bland side. Service was impeccable and cocktail menu was extensive. The salted caramel tart dessert was also good but nothing out of the ordinary. View was fantastic though!
Another Sydney institution. Great menu and good service. Getting a place here is hard so book in advance. Great views ion a clear day if you manage to get a table outside.
My go to restaurant for special overseas & interstate guests. Also one of the best date night spot around. This time I managed to get a table outside on the balcony with a perfect view of the bridge. It was really crowded & a bit squish with many tables jammed right next to each other, but that hardly matter. A good selection of cocktails, and didn't disappoint. The menu of Mod Aust, sometimes seem a little boring, but the food this time was exceptional. Particularly of note was my special of John Dory with garlic cream, creme fraiche & salmon roe. The fish was fluffy soft, melting in the month, moist & well season. The roe added a touch of luxe to the dish. My friend had the lamb belly (have never tried a belly cut of lamb before), it was a heavier eat, strong flavours, good if you love your lamb. Overall, great food, great view & great company, perfect night out!
Although quite a lot of corporate people were dining, Cafe Sydney has a romantic date night, treat-your-special-someone type of feel. Book a few weeks in advance if you want a thurs/fri booking.
I thought sitting outside on the balcony would ruin the night since it was windy, but luckily with a blanket on my lap and outdoor heaters, I didn't notice it at all. The staff are very courteous, attentive and well mannered. Bar tenders are knowledgable in their drink mixing and gave some good suggestions based on our preferences.
The cured ocean trout, Moreton bay bug appetiser was very light and clean. The flavours weren't too strong allowing for a good start for the main of beef tenderloin which was cooked medium rare. The beef wasn't chewy, was actually medium rare and tasted great. Really enjoyed gat dish.
The carpaccio of black market sirloin, truffle dressing appetiser was very fragrant of truffle in smell and taste. The combination of savoury flavours matched well to the thin slices of beef. I wish my tandoori roasted king salmon had a crispy skin, but otherwise it was a stomach-filling main meal.
I forgot the name of the dessert, but boy was it delicious. Sweetness from the berries, savoury pistachio flavour, crunchy biscuit base. It was like cutting into a ice cream cake. Loved every spoonful of it.
Had a really enjoyable night. Always good to spend it with good company.
Great food and view! Had the mozzorella salad and poached prawn and crab croquette. Make sure you get an outside sitting and pre reserve a table!
