Sweet potato fries -must try . They serve amazing hot dogs and burgers. Also, the decor is really good. Overall presentation is also good. Majorly, loved the food with fries.
Burgers, alcohol and live music all in the one place! What else could you want!?
This place is on the top of my list of places to go when I want a fun night out with the girls. The perfect place for a boogie on a Saturday night but also perfect for a chilled out drink with mates after work during happy hour. Can’t recommend this venue enough!
The staff was so nice and food came out pretty quickly. The chilli cheese fries were so worth my money and the portion was more than enough. The venue is one of the coolest places especially their door.
The soda factory is a pretty cool venue. Most days they have a specials. Luckily for us it was dollar hot dogs. So I got 8 and some truffle tater tots. The place has booths and table around the walls and the bar is in the middle which is good. Although only being a small venue it makes it exclusive with a not so obvious entry, though the bouncer out the front makes a little more obvious. They also have a dj and live music. So if you short for cash or just looking for a cheap eat check them out.
Usually go to Soda Factory for drinks on a Friday (super busy and packed out usually!), but a couple mates and I decided to check it out on Tuesday for $1 Hot Dogs!
We were very impressed by the quality of the hot dogs and although the good hot dogs were slightly more expensive ($2-$5) they were worth it as well for a bit of variety. They also had a live band playing that night to give the place a bit more atmosphere and make it a good overall experience.
The FAT BUBBA FRIED CHICKEN - Bucket !!! Is the way to go! Grab your friends, get a beer and a bucket and get finger licking! The chicken is super crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside.
I LOVE SODA FACTORY! It is my go to place for awesome music (which quite often is live!) , fun cocktails and tasty hot dogs. I love the American inspired menu, and like the fact there is a vegetarian option too. The fries here are a definite luxury for me because I power through them so so quickly. Service here is really great and I've never had issues with the staff. My ONLY complaint about soda is how squishy and packed it gets, but honestly the fact that the music is so so so great really makes for a wonderful night.
I have been a frequent attendant of the Soda Factory and I always recommend it. The staff are friendly and the vibe of the venue overall is amazing. Personal favourite cocktails are the Russian Bride and the Pablo Escobar. The food menu is also very good; the Fried Chicken is always on point, as are the sweet potato fries. Plus, this venue plays the best music in Sydney.
One of the neighbour hood bars that never disappoints on any given night.
The house beers are an eclectic mix and have a great ale on tap.
But be mindful of long serpentine ques on the weekend for entering.
Amazing vibes and a great place to just chill with mates. The cocktails are pretty good and the food is decent too. I love how they have specials throughout the week and awesome live music.
Although it's often full and the food seems a bit overpriced given that it's fairly casual, The Soda Factory is a fairly rare kind of pub in Sydney. A take on 50's American style cuisine with gourmet hot dogs, there are a few more of these kinds of places popping up in Surry Hills but I feel like The Soda Factory was the OG.
Epic night out! We had some delicious soda floats (kind of like a spider, but you get to build your own and they have lots of options!) The live music was awesome, and the food was great also. Would recommend for any occasion!
--------------------------------------Great ambiance, nice place to chill on a school night, can't wait to go back! --------------------------------------
Love the atmosphere and the choice of background music!! Had the dollar hot dogs for vivid Sydney and they were amazing! Definitely would come again

Soda Factory is Sydney's home of Mac n cheese, which means it's one of my fave places in the world. A dark moody intimate bar that serves killer creative cocktails and American food. Count me in.
First you have to find it. Not revealing any secrets here though.
The cocktail menu has recently been revamped, and my friend and I worked our way through quite a good deal of them. They have quite the variety from espresso martinis served in a coffee cup to fruity concoctions served in a spray painted can with whipped cream and a cherry on top!
The food though. Omg the food. All my American dreams come true. They are the masters of Mac n cheese. They have it in bowls, so creamy and so cheesy for that perfect cheese pull insta shot. They have deep fried Mac n cheese balls which will be the death of me. They even have Mac n cheese spring rolls. It's heaven on earth.
They've got killer burgers, hot dogs the size of your head, fries, waffle fries and all of the wings. You're going to wanna shred in preparation for this meal. Make sure your body is ready.
I can't rave about this place enough! Perfect for a boozy cheesy cheat night out with friends - any night of the week!

Loved the food at The Soda Factory! I had the beef burger and an icecream float! Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the float. It melted way too fast and our whole table was covered in melted icecream - it was just so messy! Also wasn't a fan of the flavours. It's a shame they don't still do the raspberry vodka float. That was what I was most looking forward to! I ended up getting bourbon, salted caramel and lemonade. I couldn't even taste the salted caramel :( However the burger I had was absolutely amazing! Perfect sauce and meat cooked and marinated to perfection! The chips were also delicious. It's a little dark and loud so it is a bit hard to see and communicate but I did enjoy the atmosphere and the great 80s music that was played!
If you love American food, then this place is for you! From hot dogs, to chicken wings and Mac and cheese balls, there's something for everyone. They have also recently launched their soda floats: imagine an old school spider with alcohol!
An American style bar that reminds me of East Village in New York. Awesome fun cocktail menu and great food. Loved their Mac & Cheese , waffle fries and sticky Texan BBQ ribs. Great place to hang out for a few drinks with comfy lounge & booths.
It went like this... American nephew in Sydney for 4th of July. So I decided to see if I could find any 4th July celebrations. A few days after the fourth of July The Soda Factory had one. The Mac and Cheese burger (4th of July special) will forever remain the horror story that I tell everyone about in the quest for the perfect burger. It was terrible. Someone decided to make a bun out of mac and cheese. They coated it with fried chicken batter, deep fried it and put a beef patty and cheese between it. I cracked open the "bun" and tried to scoop the mac and cheese out. I had also ordered chicken wings and we got a lot of those. I don't eat them. We got fries and soda floats. Somehow I stumbled into ordering too much food. Despite the mac and cheese burger we had a good time. We will go back but I will never order the mac and cheese burger again.
This place is awesome for burgers and drinks and always has cheap deals mid week. If you go on a weekend, make sure you get in before 9pm or there's a huge line. You can reserve spaces if you're in before 6. Great range of drinks; I had a few Moscow mules that were really nice. Great DJ on weekends too.
A cool location for Friday night drinks that does really good food, great selection of drinks and a live band. The macaroni cheese spring rolls are unique and a definite must try. The ice cream float cocktails are also worthwhile.
Place is lively and quite loud so you’re going to have to lean in or talk louder to be heard. Not sure if they do this any other day but on Tuesdays they do $1 hot dogs!! And happy hour is 5 to 7! Perhaps this is the reason the place seemed to be made up of a younger crowd. On top of this they have live music most nights of the week.
The hot dogs were not standard size, probably about ¾ of the normal size but they were tasty and for $1 definitely worth it. Hot wings and onion rings were good too. Food does take a while when it gets busy, and without a doubt for $1, they’d sure be making a lot of hot dogs. However overall service was good, especially the bartenders who were really nice and the wait for drinks was not too long.
The Soda Factory has been around for a few years now and they have the small bar/speakeasy vibe down pretty well. Their front is place for hot dogs and then you open a door and voila, it's a bar! Mostly known for their Tuesday $1 hot dog specials, I came here with some friends to celebrate a birthday and the 4th of July. Naturally, instead of getting what they're known for, I went with the Soda Factory Cheeseburger.
Beef patty, cheddar, red onion, tomato, lettuce, mustard, special sauce
I didn't really expect much from this burger seeing as no one really talks about it and this place isn't known for their burger. Well, I'll just say it was a pleasant surprise that the burger is actually decent. It won't blow your socks off but it won't severely disappoint either. The bun was squishy soft and definitely the best part of the burger. The toppings were alright as well, the special sauce was pretty good but the cheese could have been melted much more. The beef was the low point, though it wasn't overcooked and the seasoning was alright, it's just not the best quality beef.
If you're not feeling hot dogs at The Soda Factory, the burger is a decent alternative.
Beef: 3.2
Bun: 4.2
Toppings: 3.8
Overall: 3.73/5
Fried food goodies! Cosy ambience. Came here on Mon night when they showed sister act. Food was pretty good, fried chicken large pieces and crispy. Mac and cheese was a bit bland though. Another highlight is the popcorn they had at the bar - complimentary, cheese flavoured, crispy and a little chilli!
Considerate of food, ambience and price...Here is one of myy best top 3 fav place in Sydney:)
It's in surryhills, 5min from Central station. I wouldn't know how to get in If I hadn't serched it in advance. Hiddnen bar!!
They do really good $10 reasonable Hotdog!! I was not interested in it very much but make my mind changed:) So delicious and I felt like able to have more. And the crispy chicken was amazing too.
These food were matched with red wine and beer. So tasty and satifsfied.
They say nothing is free - but The Soda Factory countered that last night. Unknown to our group, there was some jukebox launch, which included a free cocktail and different nibbles from 6-8pm. A nice start.
As for the food - it's nothing too amazing, but everything was solid. $26 bucket of fried chicken was more than plenty for two, along with sweet potato fries and the onion rings. Onion rings were a tad on the salty side, but still good.
The ambiance is one for the young crowd - relatively loud music and dim lighting. You wouldn't come here to catch up with your mates after a long time, you could lose your voice. Service is excellent though!
Fried chicken Ninja!!!
WEDNESDAY $10 bucket fried chicken deal!! Ooooft..... Also TUESDAY $1 hot dogs! Came here for the chicken though and it was crispy and juicy AF!!! See for yourself! The hot dogs were pretty good too ....
Cheap Tuesday and Wednesday!!! Haha
Until next time .... Keep eating!!!!!
Love it ! Great food and great atmosphere. I went there on a friday night where a live band was playing and i had the best time ever. Will definitely go back there again.

So much fun with awesome food! I love the novelty of stepping into the bar through a false refrigerator door! I love it! Then you're instantly transported to a pace with great ambience and music.
The American diner style meals are delicious here. The daily specials are something to keep an eye on. The cocktail are delicious and you'll find all your usual classics too.
We ordered a burgers and fries. The bucket of wings are good to share and the nachos are good too.
I have to mention that the live band they have are awesome! Always love a good dance after a good meal
I'd heard a lot about this retro American style diner which doubles as a bar. I finally got to visit on my last trip to Sydney. We got in on a Friday night without any issues and it was quite buzzy inside. The hostess at the door was wearing roller skates which was a cute touch and the bar tenders are friendly and are also wearing pin-up inspired outfits.
The best part about the soda factory besides the old school tunes they spin has to be the old school drinks they have. Like the soda float cocktails. YUM! We didn't eat here on this occasion but they serve traditional american fare.
This place is best spent catching up with friends.
Have been here on $1 hotdog night - hotdogs aren't bad but best to get in early before all the workers arrive. Onion rings oozed of oil, not edible at all. Also visited on a weekend for a friends bday - waited in line for a good hour just to get in. Their burgers are ok, live music was good. Super packed inside you're lucky to get a table. Not sure if it's worth waiting in line again for.
Finally a venue with soul and character! On our recent trip to Sydney, we got the Soda Factory recommended and they didn't let us down. Great, friendly and fun staff, amazing cocktails and delicious food. On the weekends they also have bands and DJ's. Don't miss this place if you are in Sydney!
Sexy, fun and a great cocktail range! The Pina Colada reeled me in and did not disappoint. Live music, great vibe and the perfect Friday night pitstop.
Absolutely love this place! Music and atmosphere is incredible, I love it all! Tuesday nights are the best with $1 hot dogs, so so good! I definitely recommend the cheeseburger spring rolls as well, they are to die for, incredibly amazing! Drinks are good, with a nice variety, but a bit on the expensive side. Awesome venue for a chill night out with awesome vibes!
Best bar in Sydney. The food is exceptional and pumps all night long. Get in early or expect a queue, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights.
Came here on Saturday night with a hens party. The food was greasy goodness and perfect after spending the day drinking. The dance floor was going off thanks to the 60s, 70s and 80s playlist that was being spun by the DJ. Sweet potato chips were my fave. And the go to cocktail was this amazing apple cinnamon one. Definitely order it next time you're there. I'll be back!
The vibe is what makes this place. The music, the movie nights, the hidden entrance... the food is ok - pretty standard American street food style - hot dogs, meatball subs and the mac & cheese are all simple but venue appropriate.
The Johnny Drama dog, washed down with a Pacifico beer is a fantastic combo. Cosy spot, with a cool theme makes the Soda Factory a winner. Get in early though because it fills up fast!
Came for dinner on their $1 hot dogs night and was not disappointed! The Soda Factory has a vibrant and fun atmosphere, paired with attentive wait staff. Would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a casual night out with good food and great cocktails. It's best to book a table in advance so that you're not left waiting around, because this place does get quite busy!
If you're after a cheap night out during the week.. there's no better value than their $1 hotdogs on Tuesday nights. You're allowed 5 hotdogs with a drink purchase... now that’s value. The hotdogs are of decent size... and great quality (if you're taking price into consideration)... but if I paid the original $10 for them... I might be a bit peeved. Definitely a great place to catch up with friends during the week. I do highly recommend booking a table or end up rocking up and fighting for seats… or worse standing in the corner juggling handfuls of hotdogs. The place has a cool vibe with music and sometimes live music... great drink variety.. cheap and delicious food and that funky fridge door as an entrance... The signage wont say Soda Factory as you enter which is quite strange but the bouncer at the door is more than happy to tell you it is. Service here is as you can be… and as consistent as you can be for a kitchen trying to pump out hundreds of hotdogs… longest wait I ever had was around 30 minutes… and they never got the order wrong
Does My Bomb Look Big In This

Any bar that serves bourbon and Vanilla Cherry Coke floats, mac and cheese spring rolls and is hidden behind a phoney fifties Coke machine door is an instant winner in my books.
The Don Draper...Beef and pork sausage, finely diced onions, Monterey Jack cheese, tomato sauce, American mustard...This hot dog was definitely plenty of fun on the side with this dapper fella. The sausage went very nicely with the onions, sauces and generous serving of cheese. Very tasty.

Not that I'm much of a bar goer, but Soda Factory is definitely my favourite bar in Sydney. As you may know, I love anything retro, and this place is right on the money. From the friendly staff to the plush couches and timeless decor, what's not to love? Plus they have the coolest drink names and tastiest bar food around. Every night they have something special on such as Monday Movie night with cheap eats and free popcorn and Tuesday Dollar Dogs with 5 gourmet hotdogs for $1 each, BARGAIN! Be warned this place does get packed, so if you are looking to sit down, get cosy and chill with your mates, be sure to reserve an area beforehand! I went with my girlfriends on Tuesday for their dollar dogs, so all food featured was $1. There is a max. of 5 hot dogs per order and only 5 out of the 10 gourmet dogs are offered for $1, which are all featured below, normal price is $10 each.
The word 'hipster' is commonly used to describe the suburban youth of today, trendy, sociable and unique. This same concept can be applied to characterise 'The Soda Factory' (16 Wentworth Avenue, Surry Hills) (if you can describe a food/bar joint like that). A newly opened hidden treasure, it definitely is all of trendy, sociable and unique in one neat little hangout spot. One big hipster you could say. The entrance is near impossible to spot, disguised by an empty shop front with a neon lit 'Bobby's Boss Dogs' sign and an old school Coca-Cola fridge door camouflaged into the wall also doubling as the front entrance to the all important business itself! I must say, Patty and I got lost ourselves. Signage at the misleading shop front Once inside, you're met with darkness and the only light stopping you from stumbling over tables are lit by table candles and the odd singular bulb hanging from the wall. The bar area is central which is surrounded by an array of bar stools, booth seat
Stepping into the unassuming entrance of The Soda Factory will lead you into a hipster bar where classic Motown beats are well and truly alive. Hot Stuff - Donna Summer, My Girl - The Temptations, Blame It On The Boogie - The Jacksons… The charm of The Soda Factory is a revival of the unfamiliar & familiar with a touch of nostalgia. An ‘underground’ milk bar bar to celebrate my dear friend Pat’s birthday :) *pictures were taken using my phone The Johnny Drama - Beef frankfurter bacon, sour cream, avocado, tomato salsa $10 The buns are soft, generous toppings of avocado mash, and there is bacon wrapping around my beef frankfurt. Yes, bacon wrapped sausage! :’) Would happily have this again, though I would like some melty cheese on top! I didn’t get to try the other hot dogs but everyone seemed content. Oh and they have $1 hot dogs on Tuesday, no joke! Wednesday nights are Pulp Fiction nights :D Soda Factory share syphons - serves 4-6 people: Seabreeze s
Awesome night at the soda factory! We rocked up around 8pm after a day at the Cellar Door Wine Festival in Hyde Park. My husband was in thongs and was very politely refused entry. As we live closeby he decided to go home and change into proper footwear. When he arrived back the doorman gave him three free drink coupons for the bother of going home to change! Added to that the atmosphere in the place was electric and the DJs were on fire!
Best American joint so far. Food is great, this is the best american eatery that I have been to so far.
Loved the ambience and they have the best sweet potato chips/fries. Its addictive!
10/10. Good atmosphere, cool bar with music and a good vibe. Good to go with a group of people and get a lot of little things to share!! Booths and lounge areas make it a really comfortable and laid back dining experience. Food was great! Would return!
$1 Dogs on a Tuesday!?!. It seemed a wee bit good to be true, but whoa these $1 Hot Dogs (when purchasing a drink) were damn good! Highly recommend when your on a tight budget!
So weird at the beginning, there was not many people when we arrived but there was a long waiting line and only two bartenders, one was so slow. The food was great. Then the Dj started and the party/music was so good.
Shout out to Frankie and his team for helping us deliver a birthday surprise event. The staff were attentive and professional and we all had a great time. Beware that the music gets louder and louder through the night!
Brilliant location. Brilliant staff. Great food at a very good price for the city! Lovely and unusual range of cocktails - always seems to be a great band playing. Try and get a booth - highly recommended
I love this little place, great music and atmosphere. The drinks are good and well priced. Bar staff are super lovely. It's a $15 entry fee and it's well worth it, there is a good mix of music. I always dance the night away. It's not far from Central Station about a 10min walk. The hotel next door is pretty well priced, clean and they have a cafe for breakfast. I have only been on a Saturday night, there is a mix of age groups I never feel like the oldest person lol 😝
The Soda Factory is a cute and fun secret bar. We unknowingly came during happy hour and were super pleased with the cheap cocktails and discounted food! Even at regular price, the food is super affordable (Sydney “bar food” wise).
It bothers me that they advertise themselves as an “American diner” when they are clearly a bar that serves hotdogs and hamburgers (which aren’t even quintessential diner foods), but I’m American so I’m a bit touchy. All I want is a legit diner and this is NOT it.
Anyways, they have lots of vegetarian options which is great.
The atmosphere is really fun, especially once the live music starts. The cocktails were affordable and tasty. While it didn’t hit the diner mark, the fried pickles were perfection. I would return!
What am amazing venue. My friend and I came here for the first time and I had heaps of questions... Nikki who works here gave us an overview of what to expect through the week - thanks Nikki, you were great!
And the bartender was great. He knows who he is :D the ice cream beer guy haha
