Review Bank's Thai Restaurant - Sydney

Good food, especially the duck dish, very tender and tasty. Nice atmosphere as well.

Despite an unsuspecting and dimly-lit ambiance, this place deserves a five-star rating. The staff are friendly, helpful and like to give you extra goodies when you order a few things. The food is tasty, decently portioned and reasonably priced, and the care they put into labelling their little takeaway boxes is cute! A go-to takeaway place for a good feed.

Calm environment. Interested staff, with a glass of cool water on entering and being shown to your table. Nice flower decoration set the table for the tastebud sensation of fresh, flavoured food to come. Amy, the manager, friendly and graceful. A free desert of juicy cut orange to finish. A very enjoyable and good value experience.

Authentic Thai food. Light on the sugar as it should be, a rare find in Sydney where everything appears to be coated in the stuff. Amazing, humble service, very accommodating to dietaries. We are vegan and they are always ready to help us out. Would rate more than 5 stars if I could!

I love Banks Thai, it still happens to be one of the best value Thai restaurants in Newtown. The food is yummy and is prepared with little fuss. The decor is a little tired but the food makes up for it. As the weather is starting to get colder I like to get the chilli basil beef as it warms me up. I would highly recommend this restaurant as it consistently serves great food.

Me and my best friend ordered two servings of the chicken skewers and there is four in a serve so we were meant to get 8 skewers but we only got two. We went and asked multiple times for the right order and they said ya ya and didn’t end up getting our food I would never go there again and we even went out back. As well as all that in the bathrooms there are creepy dolls above the toilet don’t go there if you are looking for a restaurant. one word don’t run a restaurant if you don’t speak English P.s IM STILL HUNGRY

I was looking for a quick lunchtime snack and through that most Thai's in newtown would be of similar quality. How wrong was I! The decor is very dated, and even though I was taking my food away, this was noticed. The food didn't take long to arrive, and was remarkably cheap, which should have raised some alarm bells. It wasn't terrible per se, but VERY oily, and the cut of beef was very hard to chew on. I guess they have to economise somewhere to prive a meal for just over $5. The staff was friendly enough. There are so many other good choices around here that I would recommend others to seek elsewhere.

Unsafe food practises. Mini cockroach infestation just like buzzbar. Owner CBF renovating kitchen to fix these problems. On top of that he doesn't pay tax for his employees wages and treats them like dirt. Most are on $10 an hour, if that. This place use to be twice as large, but the owner built a wall and sold the other half to the restaurant owners to the left. If their business was booming I can guarantee you they wouldn't have done that. There is a defeated atmosphere in the venue now, as the old musky furnishing decorate the skeleton of a restaurant.

What's better than some good old Thai before seeing ur fave dude, Jeremih, at the Enmore Theatre? At least that's what we thought. Ordered the seafood pad khi Mao and it was disappointing and very overpriced considering there are many Thai places that do it for cheaper (and tastier!)

The only redeeming features: 1) the service was good, waitress was friendly even if she did think we were underage.... 2) Being able to order a vodka alongside ur food 3) the generous complimentary prawn chips

Oh, and Jeremih was blazin thank u for asking.

Close to the Enmore as we didn't want to walk to to far! ( Coz we're lazy lol)

Chilled water and little chips were provided upon seating! Fast service!

Ordered king prawn pad tha, green curry tofu and chicken cashew nut! All delicious and arrived fast!

Once finished we got a complimentary fruit plate :)

Overall great experience. Would def be back!
We were in Newtown doing a few things on a warm, sunny, spring Sydney day. Years ago when we were living there, Bank's Thai was a regular haunt, we wanted to see what's changed. For start the place seems to have changed hands, the impractical, but cute cu

A bad experience at a favourite thai joint. My go to stop for amazing thai food in a land of pretenders, left me a little disappointed tonight. i walked in with 2 other hungry souls and sat at an empty table of 4 while a man in a polo shirt talked with the only others diners at the table behind us. he immediately said sit down make yourself at home extremely passive-aggressively. which i decided to ignore and he wandered off then i heard him put something loudly on a table behind us and he walked by us and loudly placed a reserved sign on our neighbouring table. as always the kitchen staff and waiter were lovely and the food was delicious and worth every penny. hopefully the staff read this and realise acting this way doesn't achieve anything other than upset long term customers and make them think twice next time they are hungry for thai

Food is delicious, service is fantastic. Not to mention the free extras like fruit for dessert and crackers to start. We live nearby and are spoilt for choice but this is by far a stand out. I can't believe it's taken us so long to discover here!

I've been a long term diner at Banks Thai. It has changed a little over the years it seems, but the food has not - excellent! Consistently this is the place I recommend to friends. The Pad See Eew in particular is a standout dish.

What a gem this place is. So authentic. Best pad Thai I've had since being in Thailand. They gave us a plate of beautiful fresh fruit when we had finished. Will be back.

A little pricy but was definitely worth it! Amazingly cooked seafood and duck..best thai I've had outside of Thailand

I eat regularly at Banks Thai.they do excellent feeds both traditional style and in catering for western tastes.i have had parties there and everyone is always raving about it.location and all things considered,it's probably my preferred thai to eat from the plethora of choice prevailing in the King St and Enmore Rd area.

Ordered salt and pepper squid, Tom Kha Gai and chicken green curry. The squid was a bit floury, the Tom Kha Gai tasted so strongly of lime that it was impossible to eat much and the green curry was very bland with a predominant flavour of pepper. Service was good, but won't be coming back.

Great service, great food. The service is like a breath of fresh air. Extremely attentive and friendly staff. Food serving sizes are good and everything is fresh and authentic. Delicious.

Very very good! One of our favourites. Tasty & fresh! Very good friendly quick service. Free prawn crackers while you wait and fresh fruit when you've finished. What more could you ask for!

Awesomeness!!!! Excellent food and fast service. Had coconut chicken soup - outta this world. Also had king prawns and veg in garlic and oyster sauce - also superb. Good value too.

Excellent Thai. I eat regularly from the Thai restuarant at the Bank hotel. To give you an idea of my credentials, I have tried every Thai restaurant in Newtown and this is one of the best. More expensive than most, but quality ingredients, flavour and atmosphere. The rice per person is overpriced. The staff are polite, helpful and proactive.

Took over an hour to deliver. Food not that good, no flavour, massuman curry way too oily!!

Quick & all round value for money. We have been going to Bank's Thai for many years. The food has always been good, the environment casual so no dress up, the host is a character, and the crab claws are a dream.

Sometimes it gets so busy (such as before a show at the Enmore) and they might forget an item or a drink - but a simple reminder does the trick and they are apologetic. It gets super busy before a show and they ask when you book if you are attending so they can help you get out on time.

No posh but pleasant. Never leave hungry. If something hiccups just let them know and they'll fix it. If it's a bunch of friends looking for a good meal in a cosy and casual atmosphere - you should try Bank's Thai.

They close mid afternoon (like most asian diners) so book or plan for it.

Enjoy.

Was impressed at beginning, Massamam Beef very nice, Barramundi Choo Chee not so good, came out cold bit fishy flavor! Really peeved about beer delivery during meal, early closure routine before 10p very annoying! Pity has good potential, suggest going the Bank Hotel Thai!
Jeremy
Food was however the waiter almost threw my food at ms on his way out

Local love. Yummiest local thai. Cheap, friendly, the whole place makes you feel like you're in Thailand.

Large sharing size serves....good with beer but not the most authentic....great for groups...the soup is awesome

Probably the third best Thai food in the known universe and best by far in the region. Money bags are to die for. BYO. Great service.

Great location and nothing better than sitting out the back in summer. The chilli prawns are a must try.
