Have been frequenting this bar couple times recently and have enjoyed the ambience, lower bar is very noisy, however upstairs is more intimate and diner friendly.
The Royal Hotel Paddington is situated on one of the corners at the 5 ways in Paddington. Bypassing the pub downstairs and heading up the stairs, you will find a classy restaurant that can cater for large, small and intimate dining events.
The summer menu offers both share plates and individual meals to cater for what you feel like on the day. The buttermilk fried chicken burger was a crowd sensation along with the lamb shoulder and kangaroo loin both boasting delicious flavours. If you’re not full just yet there is also a dessert section with unique and familiar flavours.
Better hurry to give this a try as the menu changes seasonally.
The royal in paddo, five ways, is definitely a good pub. There are multiple levels serving drink and food. Went there for Australia day, good fun for sure. Drinks on the bottom level are affordable, the higher up you go the more expensive. Burger and chips were delicious, the salt and pepper squid however wasn't. Chewy, overcooked and underseasoned with the tiniest amount of mayo. Defo not worth $17. Anyways, went there for drinks..
Bright and airy. Looks so much nicer since the Reno.
Extensive menu, catering to all tastes. Table of five, shared plates to start with and then had mains. We all thoroughly enjoyed or meals. Decent wine list and good service. We went up to sit on the roof terrace with drinks after our meals. Definitely be back!

The Royal Hotel in Paddington has multiple levels with the downstairs having your typical pub feel, first level up is a stylish restaurant with balcony and then there is the rooftop which is perfect for an afternoon cocktail. We went for dinner and the food was excellent, far and above your typical pub offerings. We shared the fish tacos which were fresh and highly recommended to share (minimum order of 3). For mains we had the chicken and dumpling salad, seafood spaghetti and goats cheese gnocchi. The seafood spaghetti was tasty however the serve could have been a little larger. The gnocchi was visually beautiful with spring vegetables and pea purée. There is also your standard chicken schnitzel and steak options on offer. The staff were friendly and knew the food and drinks list well enough to offer plenty of suggestions. Put this on your list when in five ways and looking for a meal.
Fancy shmancy ninja!!
Pub stylish food with great vibes. This place was interesting because "known" pub food are greasy and fried goods, however this place makes me feel stupid for being judgemental base on appearances.
As you can see these beautifully plated food were pretty and tasty at the same time.
Truffle fries were the bomb, the baked cambert cheese, burger, wings and desser was indeed yummo!
Will have to come back and try some more food.
Until next time .... Keep eating!!!!
Had a thoroughly enjoyable late lunch with my wife. The pork belly was without the best I've had in any restaurant with a delicious jus while the wife enjoyed her eye fillet steak. I had to request the recipe for the chimichurri it was that good!
For desert we shared the chocolate lava cake, the perfect end to a great dining experience in a lovely setting. Highly recommend!
Glaze your evening with a vibrant and extremely delightful feast offered on the Royal Hotel Paddington’s new autumn menu. Start with a number of shared plates including my favourite vine ripened tomatoes with creamy burrata and many others (below). Continue with the delicious beetroot ravioli accompanied by a side of their aromatic parmesan & truffle fries. Melt your taste buds with the oozing chocolate lava cake which can be rich after a few bites, but it’s density is broken down with the strawberry sorbet.
The new revamp has done this place wonders. Had a lovely dinner and drinks here. Made more special by the open ceiling and sunlight shining through. Awesome vibe! However food is a little pricey for what you get. My $32 steak was meant to be 150g but was more like 80- 90g and rather dry (however cooked perfectly to my liking - medium rare). Otherwise hostess was lovely and looked after us very well, and when there was a stuff up with the bill, she very politely fixed it. Overall a good experience and will be back.
I finally got around to checking out the newly refurbished Royal Paddington Hotel and it did not disappoint. The gorgeous bright interior instantly sold us! The extensive cocktail list had us ordering far too many - all equally gorgeous looking. There are far too many good food options so we basically ordered everything. My favourites are the Waffle Fries (these are a must), Butternut Pumpkin and the Pork Belly.

I dined at Royal Paddington Hotel again last week, this time to try their newly launched Autumn menu.
They've brought back the back camembert cheese which was sensational, the truffle fries and beetroot ravioli we're also my favourites.
Simmer your afternoon with an appetizing feast in a gorgeous setting where you can expect cosy and relaxed vibes. All the dishes are made to perfection and served in overly generous portions. Decorate your palate with the vibrancy of flavours and presentation bound to make you drool. Saute with my highlights of the night including the baked camembert with figs, waffle fries (must order!) and cured salmon. Complement with a delightful Aperol Spritz, which is the ideal drink for the summer and spread of food. Don’t forget to glaze with a cocktail or two on their rooftop bar which overlooks the beautiful landscape of Sydney city.
Love the bistro here. Excellent for lazy weekend afternoons. Great menu selection and fair drink prices. Service is exceptional and great views to enjoy with someone special. Very impressed and will be back again.
Upon entering the Royal Hotel, it appears to be your typical Aussie pub, with dark chocolate brown surfaces, bar stools and bar taps. Walk upstairs and it’s a complete contrast in decor with marbled tables, fresh cut flowers and bright white interior. In addition to being able to order just your typical bar food, on the first level the food menu is far more extensive in terms of dishes and more refined too.
Great place to come and relax after a hard day of work. There's something for everyone as each floor has a different vibe, not to mention the views from their rooftop!
Love this place! there's a gorgeous restaurant space on the 2nd floor which provides a relaxed yet classy ambience. The food is absolutely amazing too - great for sharing and generous portion sizes! The waffle fries are a must-order! Plus I really enjoyed the baked camembert and the cured salmon too. Their vibrant colours make it totally "insta-worthy", not to mention its vibrant flavours just melts in your mouth! Even if you're not feeling that hungry, grab a drink or three and enjoy it on their rooftop which overlooks the beautiful landscape of the Sydney city.
What a beautiful pub! The interior on level 2 is amazing and the atmosphere is very relaxed and chic. Customer service is very attentive and there is great space for families and group gatherings. All the food here is divine and they love microflowers and herbs which brightens up the dishes. I highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli and the lamb shoulder.
With the hot weekends upon us, lazy (and boozy) lunching is an absolute must. One place I am destined to be frequenting this summer is the deservingly popular The Royal Hotel in Paddington. Recently welcoming a new team of Chefs who have created a new and improved food offering catering to the time strapped worker, those who like to laze and graze (thats me!) and also for larger groups.
Amazing view! Multi-storey and each level has different decor. I had been here in winters and the decor was apt for winters and now in summer it was summery. Unfortunately you can't eat on the rooftop. The food menu is limited and doesn't have a chicken burger which was sad. The waffle fires were good but too much salt. The grilled chicken salad was ok, nothing great. The chocolate mousse with honeycomb looked amazing but the honeycomb was too hard and difficult to eat. They don't have coffee which is sad as sometimes you just want a good view with coffee. The beer and cocktail options are good too. The staff was courteous. Will visit again for a drink n the view.
Vanessa: Saturday lunching is somewhat of a favourite pastime for Team FFS and the destination of choice this weekend was The Royal Hotel in Paddington. Offering a number of different dining areas depending on your vibe and group size, The Royal is a perfect place to graze over a laid-back long lunch (or dinner!).
Came here last weekend for a drink with girlfriends and ended up nabbing a table on the balcony. Ordered a few April spritzes and we didn't leave for hours. The drinks are great, bat stuff are wonderful and the nibbles dishes especially the chips are super yummy

I came back to try the new menu and I really enjoyed my pork belly and my friend loved her beetroot ravioli. We shared the waffle fries which was crunchy and so good with the accompanying sauces. Staff member who looked after the floor was friendly and helpful in answering my questions in regards to the menu. I'll be back!

Nice interior!. I haven't been here in ages and I thought I would check out the new fit out with my friend over lunch. Bright blue and white colour scheme one one side of the upstairs dining area and then comfy leather chairs and lounges on the otherside.
As we came on a weekday, it wasn't too busy and the wait for food wasn't too long. You order and pay at the bar, so my friend had their beef burger while I tried their rib eye with mushroom sauce. Steak was over cooked which was disappointing but my friend seems to have enjoyed her burger.
Limited dessert menu but we thought we would try the two cakes on offer. I opted for their flourless chocolate cake and my friend had their lemon cheesecake. Both delicious and not too sweet.
While my meal was disappointing, I will come again and try something else on their menu as it's close to home.
We ate here last night. I hadn't been since the refurb. We both had the Rib on the bone and it was the best steak I've probably ever eaten at a pub. Cooked perfectly, full of flavour and served with fresh steamed greens, piping hot French fries and your choice of sauce. Highly recommended.
Great service, delicious lunch
Great meal!. We had one of the best meals we've had out in years here! Fabulous(and large) rump steak done a perfect med rare with creamy mash while my wife had the spatchcock which we were surprised to find a whole bird, cooked beautifuly teamed rather unusually with polenta. We finished off with the hot fresh dutch fruit donuts and coffee. Staff were friendly and attentive and better still knowledgable. All in all,we thought this a 2 hat experience for pub prices!
Good vibes. Great options to drink indoors or outdoors.. in private or among the crowd. Relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of dining options. Book ahead of you want a good spot.
Nice airy white decor in the restaurant. Food very good, excellent quality steak and good selection of other menu choices, pleasant friendly service. Will happily come again.
Great local watering hole. Copious amounts of talent. Very reasonable prices and excellent food. Fantastic place to socialise or start off your night.
A great atmosphere with lots of options
3 stories high, roof top balcony views with smoking area, great food, good cocktails, good music and friendly atmosphere.
