Really good customer service and really nice interior design! Some high quality and tasty middle eastern dishes. Entrees were really delicious! Price is on the higher side but it is a fine dining restaurant which is worth the experience.
Excellent service tonight and the food was amazing. Great experience for groups. Thoroughly enjoyed the set menu. 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Another good place for those who love Middle eastern food. Lovely cosy ambience, smiling courteous staff, authentic yummy food.
They got us complimentary baklava for our anniversary.
Mansaf chicken/lamb are a must try.
Meat is cooked really well in both of them.

Very Arabian food in a modern atmosphere. Thanks also for Elissa songs.
I noticed many westerners also attend to the place. Food is really good and different from elsewhere in Sydney.
The starters are so delicious, better than Lebanese restaurants in Dubai and I’d say a better taste then in Zahli, Lebanon :)
We ordered Hummus and Moxed not mezze and it was very good
The mains were lamb Mansaf which not a mansaf at all, it’s more like Kharouf Mahshi (lamb with rice and yogurt & cucumber on the side). I didn’t like it much, yogurt was salty and rice was full so spices. The potion is relatively large.
My wife took grilled octopus, there were many of them, so the portion is also large. Octopus is delicious and soft.
Lastly I tried some Lebanese dessert, I chose Muhalabiya, it was very very nice and really good
Generally I’ll come back here and try other main courses, starters and desserts.
Attentive staff. Fast service. We were short on time and they made sure of fast service. Food was delicious - recommend the fall-apart lamb and pilaf with nuts, and the fava bean dip.
One of the best fine dining places. It is a must visit for those who love to wine and dine . Great Labanese food. The service was great . Highly courteous staff.

I had the best dining experience last night at Zahli. I have eaten Lebanese cuisine all over the world it is easily the best Lebanese cuisine I have ever had. The venue is in a great location, the staff are so friendly and the drinks menu is great. You must try the kibbeh nayye, so fresh and meaty. Highly recommend all the dips and the sambousik cheese. All washed down really well with the almaza (Lebanese Beer). Thank you all so much for a great dining experience.
Really impressed with the service and the manner that the staff and management made this experience personal. Food great, service attentive and professional and decor comfortable and welcoming. Great night!
Visited this place with a bunch of friends and must admit, its the best Mediterranean food I had in a long time.Ordered a variety of dishes but the chicken shawrma was my personal favourite.
Delicious food, delightful and friendly service! Would highly recommend the grilled baby octopus, literally felt like it was melt in my mouth! Also the falafel is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!!
Came here as a mate suggested this place. He had heard it from someone else.
Walked in for our booking for four people, service was prompt but friendly. We decided beforehand to get the banquets as we assumed it was value for money. The waitress then told us it wasn't really worth it which left us confused. We then decided to get tabouli (not photoed), halloumi cheese, salt and pepper squid, mansaf (rice) with lamb, quails and the mixed grill.
To start, the tabouli was... probably the best I ever had! Must be the lemon. Squid was standard good. Mansaf was cooked really well despite the small portion. Quail was marinated and cooked well. The shish of the mixed grill was good, especially the chicken. We all got our own dessert and I got the rice pudding. Really fluffy and wasn't overly sweet.
Zahli is a more modern setting than say... Jasmin1. And the food resembles that so it may lack that home feel. But the staff are professional and are trained to give you the best dining experience. The lebanese bread is always on refill, that's a huge plus for me!
After doing some research and reading reviews, Zahli was my first option for Lebanese food near Surry Hills. I called on a Saturday at 6pm to make a booking, the earliest I could book was 8.30pm - we made our booking and are happy we did!
On arrival unfortunately our table wasn’t ready, however staff went above and beyond to assure we were seated promptly.
It was an absolute delight to experience the belly dancing, it was a great experience and added to the already great ambiance.
Staff at Zahli really know their menu and provide amazing service!
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, I’ve grown up with Lebanese friends and Zahli met my high expectations.
Thank you to the wonderful team! We will be returning.
Great food, service and the kids loved the food. The waitress was very professional and provided excellent recommendations.
Highly recommend.
Immediate warm welcoming. Friendly staff and great service. There were 8 of us and we had banquet with plenty of delicious meals. Beautiful bread and dips , chicken skewers sweets at the end and topped of with belly dancer. Definitely worth trying.
Gr8 place for middle eastern food. While the mains were gr8 the snacks bite of special crispy bread and dips were amazing. There Lebanese beer was good to taste.
Excellent food and service. Organised a surprise birthday party for my wife - 25 guests - we did the Mediterranean banquet and it was splendid. Highly recommended. Many thanks!
Just a short walk from Central station, Zahli is nicely tucked away in a seemingly quiet part of the city. The sleek design of the restaurant and its name glowing in neon sets it apart from everything else surrounding it on that part of Elizabeth Street.
We came here in a group of 6 and had a very hearty meal and enjoyable time. If you enjoy interactive meals where you share everything, pass plates around and grab food with your hands then this is the place for you!
To start us off, we grabbed some dips:
- Mutabal (chargrilled eggplant)
- Labneh (strained yoghurt)
- Hommos (smooth chickpeas blend)
All were fantastic and came with bread and crunchy crispy bits to dip (not sure of the technical name but rest assured they were delicious!).
Then for the main part of the meal we had the:
- Falafel
- Shawarma lamb
- Lemon garlic chicken
- Salt and pepper squid
- Fattoush salad (the pomegranate in this dish really adds to it!)
I thought the falafel was a tad dry but the flavours were still fine. The lemon garlic chicken was definitely my pick against the lamb which I also found a bit dry and lacking in flavour. Salt and pepper squid is a cult classic and even though many of my friends sighed when I insisted we ordered it, I have no regrets because it was golden and crunchy!
No complaints with service either. When I asked about a wine recommendation, I was kindly assisted and able to sample a few of them before making my choice. Our table was looked after, bread and water refilled all the way throughout. Would come back here again!
[invite] Bianca: Middle Eastern food is always so generous in flavour and spirit. I don’t think I’ve ever walked away from a meal thinking ‘Yeah, I could totally go for a cheeseburger’. Which is typically my gauge-o-meter after a meal. Zahli sits on the site formerly occupied by Al Alseel, just next door to Bondi Wholefoods in Surry Hills. Lebanese food is going through a renaissance in Sydney’s Inner Sydney at the moment; with Cubby’s Kitchen and Nour Restaurant, a stone throw away on Crown Street. They are, however, very different beasts. With Nour & Cubby’s offering a more inventive and experimental take on modern Lebanese. And Zahli offering the ‘more traditional’ every day, like mumma would make.
Beautiful food, super friendly and quick service. Not too loud and great energy. My friend and I had a show at Belvoir to go to and this was a fantastic place to start our night! Thanks guys
Fresh and authentic Lebanese food in a chic Surry Hills setting. One of the best Lebanese restaurants in Sydney. Friendly attentive service. Can't recommend it highly enough.
As a Lebanese fanatic,I can say that is an authentic Lebanese and certainly the best I've found in Sydney so far .
The only thing that I don't like it is that I didn't hear any lebanese music.
A hidden modern lebanese restaurant located on Elizabeth street in Surry Hills, brings authentic lebanese dishes to the streets of Sydney. The restaurant itself was very modern with beautiful laid out tables with a very large bar looking out into the restaurant.
To start we ordered the mix dips which included labneh, homous and baba ganoush with bread to pair. We picked a number of plates to share for our main meal the shish tawook which was the chargrilled lamb, the mixed vegetarian grill with chargrilled veggies drissled in balsamic vinegar and the shwarama lamb and chicken cooked in tahini and it was all delcious! Super mouthwatering and ontop of it was all reasonably priced!
Lively music and a brilliant selection of vegetarian items to choose from !
Had an amazing time !
#hallumi
#falafel
#baklava
#mjadra
#pita and hummus !
Delicious and authentic food. Generous servings and the staff were super friendly. We went for an early (530pm) dinner with out 2 year old and the owner even came out to say hi to us. What a lovely personal touch. Will definitely be back! Our 2 year old loved the dips and bread :)
Wow!
Lebanese food at it's best.
I ate here with a Lebanese friend who ordered for the whole table and we feasted!!
Breads, meats, dips, sweets, Lebanese coffee - we had the works.
And it was delightful. I'd eaten here before and the second visit was even better.
So if you're looking for excellent Lebanese food in Sydney check it out.
Highly recommend the FATTOUSH SALAD and the SHISH TAWOUK. It's one of the places I frequent often that really compete with the high standards of Lebanese cuisine I've come to know and love out west and south west. Great service, nice space, easily accessible location.
Had ordered the shwarma and it was pretty amazing and filling too.
Had been with a big group and ordered the banquets. Everything was delicious. Even the salads! I love this place.
Don't fear! Get the banquet, its great value and if you're intimated that you can't finish it, they pack it up really nicely and their service is awesome and they are happy to answer all questions and there is no pressure in this place. Walked in randomly because the place looked so nice, and the food was too.
An evening of thespian delight at the Belvoir was preceded by an unexpected treat in Zahli. Floors reminiscent of the Alhambra, the music of a sukh, the place oozes authenticity.
We start with hommous, so silky and smooth with deliciously crisp bread and the contrast of flopsy fresh pita. Then the home made tabouleh, so fresh and piquant, roughly chopped by Sito.
The haloumi arrives, so squishy and salty goodness, followed by the mixed finger food. The kibbeh, and falafel crunchy yet moist, but the pastry of the empanada the highlight. Then the 3 skewers: kofta, shish kebab and grilled chickeny thingy was perfectly tasty.
We finish with some Turkish delight dusted in coconut and crushed pistachio, and some baklava in the form of a gumby handkerchief.
The lemon & mint drink particularly delightful.
Muhammad makes a real effort to please the adjoining table of Lebanese cuisine virgins, all insistent on avoiding sharing. Better man than I gunga din. Really well done.
Note, the portion sizes are generous, so perhaps order one less dish than you might otherwise.
Delicious, great looking food, warm and effective service, good ambience, great value. I've been once before and really enjoyed it so brought some colleagues, who both loved it. Will be back again!
My wife had an Lebanese food on her mind all day and as our regular restaurant was closed for the holidays, we were told about Zahli.
When we entered we were greeted quickly by friendly staff who showed us straight to our table.
The ambiance was nice, music was just the right level and the food was fantastic and we didn't have to wait long for our food! Price was reasonable. I must admit my wife had very high expectations and Zahli had appeared to satisfy them all.
Also you know it is a good restaurant when you are back at home and thinking and discussing about what to order when you go back next time. Zahli could be our soon to be "regular" place to for Lebanese food.
Went here while we were in Sydney for a few days, and thought it was fantastic. The set-up was great, and while the items on the menu look expensive, the portions were very generous and we definitely did not go hungry. The staff were very friendly and were very happy to recommend dishes and accommodate dietary requirements. Would definitely come back here again if we're in town!
Drove past this place a few times and it looked inviting from the outside. Really glad we went in and tried it because the food was fresh and delicious.
My wife and I were greeted by Mohammed who was very friendly, well dressed and happy to see us. The restaurant had a nice neutral colour palate with some splashes of colour around the room. Temperature inside was cool enough for a jacket or warm enough without, so just right.
We ordered The Zahli banquet and were not disappointed. Food was delivered promptly by the friendly waiter and was prepared fresh. Very soft breads, creamy dips and natural salads. And it just kept coming out! Seafood was moist and tasty and the meat was tender and juicy. We had to stop eating as we were full, however I secretly wanted to keep going.
Great service (attentive but not intrusive) in a nice room with tasty food. I'll be back.
We loved the food here - by far the best Lebanese we've had in Australia, and brought back fond memories of the feasts we had on a trip to Beirut a few years ago.
The mixed dips and mixed warm mezze were a good option to get a taste of everything - standouts were the labneh and the meat sambousek (filled with mince, cinnamon and pine nuts - yum!). For mains the mixed grill was a good option (we ordered two for our group of four), plus the veggie grill and grilled octopus. All the dishes were delicious, and the mixed grill came with an incredible garlic spread... maybe not good for your breath but good for the senses! Probably the highlight was the lamb kofte, with beautiful spices and tender lamb. But by far and away the most memorable dish was dessert... we had the most amazing mastic ice-cream, made the proper Middle Eastern way so that it is gooey and stretchy... with original flavours like fig jam & walnut, chocolate & cinnamon, and coffee & cardamom. The two scoops were very generous. In fact, overall the value for money is excellent given the quality of the food and the care taken in preparation - we paid about $55 each for a group of four, including starters, mains, dessert and a good bottle of red wine.
We found the service to be good, although there are some junior staff who were a bit inexperienced - but they were friendly and tried their best. The head waitress was also very friendly and kind. And - a rarity - they accept reservations for groups of less than 6, which was a clincher for us! We'll be back for sure! Already dreaming of that ice-cream...

Jumping into the spot formerly occupied by Al Aseel , restaurateur Mohammad Issmail has transformed the space into arguably the slickest-looking Lebanese restaurant Sydney has to offer. And it doesn’t stop at the marble bar, ornate blue tiles and quirky, upside-down desk lamps dangling from the cleverly integrated acoustic ceiling, either! White tablecloths set off carefully chosen earthenware plates, and quality (Bose) speakers deliver a fabulous modern Arabian soundtrack. I’m impressed, and that’s even before I get stuck into the smoothest, most flavoursome hommos I’ve tried; ...best in a Mixed Dips ($20) arrangement with companion smoky baba ghannouj and lightly tangy labneh. Fattoush ($15) is also resurrected here with vibrant capsicum and crisp cucumber showing Chef Abdul Shams’ commitment to good produce. In the hot mezza, Falafel ($12), adorned with sesame seeds, are...
Really delicious middle eastern cuisine, had the Zahli banquet which was amazing value for money. Stand out dishes were the salt and pepper squid and the skewers at the end. Staff were great too.
Loved it!! Got the Mediterranean Banquet...very, very generous servings. Left extremely full and satisfied w a litte left to take home for lunch the next day also! Def recommend and will be back soon
Zahli, Appolo and Alpha. ... are the best looking Easter Mediterranean options in Sydney!
Zahli being from the South, is warmer and more affectionate.
Best Lebanese in Sydney and more to the point, best looking Lebanese in Sydney by a long mile.
With service impeccable, food exceptional in a palatial environment we now have a Lebanese restaurant where the competition between space, service and food has no clear winner; that good!
Having being twice already in ten days, I can also confirm that the standards are a constant.
All the classics are in Zahli's menu, but in my opinion, the standouts are the salads.
You can represent a cooked dish in many ways but the salad cannot be refreshed.
Be the first among your friends to experience Zahli my friends; then tell them what they too must discover.
Brilliant!
Highly recommended. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff couldn't do enough for us. On finishing our meal and paying the bill, the owner came over and made sure we were happy with our food and service. It's the small things like this that make you want to return.
The food itself was delicious, filling and very much what we wanted for our Friday night meal. Highly recommend giving this restaurant your business!

Zahli Modern Middle Eastern restaurant has the best Middle Eastern food that I have ever eaten. All the ingredients were fresh. The food is so delicious. I especially loved all the different Lebanese dips and Lebanese salads. The lamb was the BEST I've ever eaten. Parking was no issue as the is plenty of off street parking spots. We were very impressed with the Covid rules that were in place. Well done Zahli.
The atmosphere was amazing. We were looking forward to having Lebanese sweets as they are our favourite.Next time for sure as we ate so much food and we were full. The staff were so nice and very patient. We will be definitely be going back and look forward to the next time.
I rate this restaurant 10 out of 10
BIG CALL I KNOW. TRUST ME.
Very good food, awesome service. Normally I don't order Lamb but because of someone recommends me to try, I ordered lamb with some other dishes recommended by their staff. Everything was so good, flavourful and most important freshness in every bite of food was just amazing. I Strongly recommend if someone wants to try some middle eastern cuisine 💯
Overall a good option! Friendly service and fresh food. Very tasty across most dishes but on the more pricy side. Staff was very attentive with water.
Great restaurant with street parking right outside the venue. Food was great and the service was outstanding. Not sure If it's wheelchair or pram accessible as I only saw stairs but perhaps call the restaurant and ask if they have an alternative entrance for that.
What an amazing experience. Food was absolutely divine. Great service by the owner and Denisa. Will come again if visiting Sydney.
I'm unable to describe how good everything we had there was! Full of flavour and perfect seasoned! Definitely going back there!!!
Could not fault our dining experience here! We had the labneh, fattoush, potatoes, mixed grill, chicken manaf and the kousa. Finished off with knafeh and rice pudding. Service was amazing, especially Adella who was extremely attentive and kind. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a great atmosphere. My daughter was so impressed she thanked the chef personally. Will definitely be back!
Great food. Staff very attentive and friendly. Nice background music. Loved the food. Good wine.
