Great place to spend an hour or two with kids. We just dropped in as we were in the city. Like with most libraries, great selection of children's books for all ages. We can borrow them too (from our local council library) if you really want to. It's also a peaceful place to do some research on just walk through an art gallery.
A beautiful historical building well worth the visit to! The library is immaculately clean and well looked after.
I would recommend this a stop for everyone, as there is something for everyone!
Large, impressive library not very far from Royal Botanical Gardens and CBD. The upper level contains art exhibits including a gallery of works depicting early settlement in the harbour city.
I like usiing this library as it offers a great selection of books, magazines and other resources. It is easy to request a book for use in the library and it is delivered within 45 minutes usually. However, the rules in the library are strict, that includes:
1. Proof of double vaccinations
2. No food or drink is allowed in the reading room
3. No talking on the phones
4. A hand bag should be within certain sizes
5. No own books are allowed to be brought in.
There is a coffee shop and a book- miscellaneous shop in the library foyer.
Such a cool library not just a good palace to read and study, there some exhibitions can visit. The collection of paintings are permanent.
Now if I’m honest, I really didn’t want to go to the Maps of the Pacific exhibition at the library but it was actually really interesting. I had no idea how much they new about the shape of countries 100s of years ago. Fascinating stuff and the artwork on some of these maps is amazing.
Where else could you learn about the Dyarubbin people of Windsor area along side the crazy magicians of the 1920s. The State library offers an Aladdin’s cave chock full of surprises and quiet places to read or study. And take the kids to the children’s place for a pastel-filled session. You’ll love it.
