I tried the dumplings that were catered from here at the FCBA Communnity Christmas Party. They were so tasty, I really enjoyed eating them. Literally ate so many!
The top floor of Kinselas at Taylor Square (if it’s even still called that) is home to The Standard Bowl, a function area complete with its own bar, bowling alley and arcade games, and catering supplied by downstairs eatery, Johnny Wongs Dumpling Bar. It’s the perfect party fare with tasty bite sized options including dumplings, dim sum and sliders.
A brilliant little nook for some dumplings. Place is small, orders comes out fast and the staff are super friendly. There's also a little bar where you place your orders so it's super convenient and best of all, the dumplings is delicious! Note: can get quite busy very quickly!
Cute interior. I love this cute joint just off Taylor's Square (and you get to play mini 10 pin bowling if you liek a game or two after dumpings, hehe)
We tried just about everything at Johnny Wong's as it's a small menu to choose from. I'm loving my prawn dumpling, the usual. And the mocktails (or was it coktails?) are just as fun. I remembered there was chilli in my mocktail, giving it a bit of zing. It was delicious from memory. We're talking about a year ago haha!
Time to return again with friends!
$1 dumpling Wednesdays. Nice dumplings for the price on $1 Wednesdays. 5 dumplings for $5 is a bargain. Small restaurant but you can sit in the back bar area too.
A hidden gem nestled between the Taylor Square clubs, this place has such charm. We’ll be back here again for sure. Especially for $1 Dumpling Wednesdays!

Winter clubbing has never looked quite so convenient, since the emergence of this hip, thirty-seater dumpling bar hidden on the vertical climb to Lo-Fi and The Standard . Sliding onto a stool in the rather snug space, I dive straight into paper trays of Vegetable and Coriander Dumplings ($8.50/5 pieces) and Prawn Gow Gee ($8.50/5 pieces) . With Sydney awash with dumplings it takes a lot to stand out; however the wicked on-table chilli sauce here could raise anything to exceptional. Cool your lips on Jenny From The Wong ($12) – despite also being presented in (hopefully recyclable) paper; she’s a reasonably classy drink, boasting Tanqueray , lime, basil, and ginger marmalade.
Repeat Customer. I love this place - perfect for dinner or a late night snack. The dumplings are flavoursome - with a number of different options to choose from. The cocktails are quirky and suit the cuisine - my favourite was the "wongacolada" (with kiwi fruit and spiced rum it is a twist on a pinacolada), while my friend had the non-alcoholic "like a wirgin." With one of my friends being coeliac and another vegan - there were still plenty of choices on the menu for them to eat. Great food and drinks, great service and great decor.
GREAT dumplings. I loved the dough skin around the dumplings. good flavours. try a cocktail! very witty names
Great experience! Friendly staff, comfortable and a great vibe with mixed Asian decor and tunes coming through from neighboring Lo-Fi. Had 2 types of dumplings, duck pancakes and a great chicken salad. Juicy pork buns were my favourite!
This place gets 5 stars because of a few things. The food was good, the portion size was good, the seating was nice (not next to anyone) and overall just a good meal. If this place was in a mall, it would be a 4, if it was a stand-alone store, it would be a 3. But for an eatery in a venue, this place is great. Perfect for before, during or after drinks. If I’m ever around, I won’t second guess dropping in for some dumplings.
Small dumpling place on the way up to bowling. Definitely some of the better and more affordable dumplings in the area - pork buns were good and not too sweet, and dumplings were really generous portions for the price. My boyfriend and I split: pork buns (3 pc), gai lan (massive portion) , boiled pork dumpling (5pc - big dumplings) and prawn go gee (5 pc) and were full for the night.
What can I say about this place other than it was absolutely fantastic. The guy running the place clearly knows how to deliver an excellent service with outstandingly delicious dumplings. The prawn har gow are a must. Great decor and good beats brings together an excellent dining experience. Will be going back/10
Always on point with service and the Wednesday dumpling deal just make it that bit more special! Not a large range but enough to make you roll downstairs and out. Will be back for more dumplings!
