Great place for seafood dinner. Good food and good service.
Not a bad place to dine with family and friends. Love having yumcha here.
We’ve been here several times, mostly for family dinners when we want fresh seafood. We love ordering crab cooked with vermicelli in clay pot or crab cooked with ginger and shallot. Always decent quality for a reasonable price.
We were here today for Fathers Day brunch yum cha. Pretty good fare. Service was also super fast and staff polite. They have pretty decent fare and because they are a medium size premise; the food circulate pretty well so you’ll get good selection, and a warm selection as well.
I’ve been here before but was the first time for the missus. She left impressed.
Located on the Carlingford Court side, I came here for yum cha for lunch. The upstairs seating is actually pretty clean. The trolley doesn't come around the quickest but you can order directly. To be honest yum cha doesn't really vary too much in quality so as long as all the varieties are available, venue is clean and airconed and price is ok then I'm happy to revisit.
Not a bad yum cha place at all! I quite enjoyed the steamed rice noodle rolls with very generous portions of prawns but perhaps the rice noodles themselves were a little thick. Another favourite was the sin juk guen (fillings are made of pork, mushrooms and bamboo shoots and is wrapped around with bean curd skin). It was soft, warm and coated in a delicious gravy. Most of the steamed dumplings were done quite well.
Mango pancake and soy pudding were pretty good. The mango pancake had generous chunks of mango and the mango was nice and sweet. I liked that the soy pudding was not too sweet and the texture was very soft.
Prices are not unreasonable and the place is just refurbished as well. Service is a little spotty though. If you need a yum cha fix in the Hills district, this place will satisfy your craving.
A pretty good chinese resto
The fish was cooked extremely well, steaming fish really brings out the taste of the fish
The beef and veges was nice with the prawn paste flavor and the chicken was also quite decent (although tbf hard to get chicken wrong)
Overall not a bad place for dinner
Having extended family living in the same city is great because gatherings almost always result in good food and company. Last night was no exception with all 34 of us sprawled out on three tables in Crystal Seafood.
Set banquet was chosen for the two adult tables at $700 per table and the food that continued to arrive defeated all 13 of us faster than the waiters could reshuffle dishes on the lazy Susan. Admittedly I did not try every dish, but from the positive feedback around the table I could rest assured that there were no serious misses.
Highlights were steamed oysters with vermicelli and xo sauce, which were timed perfectly and had a good kick of chilli without overpowering the oyster. My piece of Peking duck also showcased a thin, crispy skin. Though opinions overheard did not reflect the same sentiment. Crab was cooked well and clearly fresh catch as the flesh showed no signs of wastage. The accompanying noodles appeared to be a hybrid of instant and egg varieties and was delightfully tasty as it soaked up all the crab juices.
Each subsequent dish that arrived was consistently aesthetically appealing and flavoursome. The strawberry pork ribs glistened under the light, however I had an issue with the obvious rough preparation of the meat as pieces were misshapen and disproportionate to one another. A thick cut of fat also appeared on some pieces and the smear of strawberry sauce was very tart.
The new renovations take Crystal Seafood back in time circa 11th century China with bronzed drink vessels and painted lanterns throughout. My only recommendation would be to ensure cleanliness of customer amenities are kept up. Staff were otherwise incredibly attentive and efficient. All food arrived in a timely manner and given the work load to feed my family, that is no easy feat!
Been here a few times, with my wife and golf friends lately. The food were great, the atmosphere was good and the staff was friendly and efficient. Used to go to the village but this is my new place for Yum Cha and dinner. Going again this weekend
