im actually addicted to yomies. legit tried nearly every single one on the menu and my favourites are purple rice, oats and rock melon x avos. i got all my friends addicted as well. š itās a healthier alternative to boba or an option when youāre not full after lunch š¤©
Yomie makes a very unique and pleasant yoghurt drink. Itās creamy and deliciously chewy. I had the purple rice x yoghurt and I prefer this over bubble tea with black pearls any day. If you like yoghurt, you must try Yomie! In moderation of course. I give Yomie 4 bears
It seems to be always crowded. Every time I passed by, there was a long queue. Finally got a chance to try it late at night. Not that special I think. Similar to every yogurt beverage nowadays.
We then tried the limited salted egg yolk yogurt which was unexpectedly good! Recommend!
Every single time Iāve passed by Yomieās, there has been a line-up outside the door, and often, a long one. I could tell something was up, but had no idea what it was. I mean: what is a rice x yoghurt drink. Even now that I know (wait for it ā¦), I canāt find on Google who came up with the idea and where itās from. There are a few other similar food stalls around the world: in Singapore, in New Zealand. A blog post from Kuala Lumpur says that Yomieās came FROM Australia to KL and is wildly popular. Other sources say that yoghurt-like drinks, like Yakult, have been popular in Asia for years, and this is the latest trend.
Currently my favourite rice yoghurt drink (not that i've tried many). The line here is always long, but with so many staff behind the counter, the wait was short.Ā
The yoghurt is not as sweet and the purple rice is much chewier than some other shops. I see myself coming back again when I'm around!
Been having this everyday since we landed in Sydney. Purple rice yogurt is our fave. How we wish Yomie to open a branch in Melbourne. Thatās our Xmas wishes šš
ive been hearing this place from lots of people so my family and i decided to have it as a treat after eating street food in chinatown. situated opposite market city, there was a line, however not many people were there, but in the past i have seen longer lines so you just have to be lucky. with the original rice x yoghurt a bit overpriced with $6.30, the yoghurt wasnāt so runny and has a good amount of sweetness- which is what i usually like, although im not sure if purple rice is supposed to provide additional flavour because i didnāt get anything from that. other than that, itās logo and packaging is really adorable and would like to visit again with a different flavour!
The line looks long but it moves so fast since they have at least 5 people working. It took less than 10 minutes
Try the Red Bean Purple Rice Yogurt
Got their signature purple rice yogurt. Absolutely refreshing. As someone who loves traditional purple rice desserts, this interesting twist with the yogurt and purple rice combination was amazing. I'll definitely be trying out their other drinks while I'm here!
Wish we had this in Perth. I feel so lucky to stay near this joint, this store dishes out yoghurt drinks mixed with brown rice to a constant queue. I know I will be back at least once a day during our stay!
This place has amazing drinks! My first time we ordered the purple rice drink, the first one on the menu. It wasnāt so sweet, it was pretty much perfect and tasty! Good for bloating and after dinner or even snack! $6.50 is pretty much the same price as chatime or gongcha. Highly recommend!
The limited edition rose berry flavour tastes good but cant use own bottle to save plastic and they wonāt say why not. They couldnāt confirm if the rice yoghurt was vegan.
Perfect rice x yogurt in Sydney! There is so many flavours to choose from and each time I have gone I have been happy. My favourite has been the classic purple rice x yogurt beverage which contains extremely smooth yogurt and yummy purple rice. I also highly recommend their Melon! Melon! drink as it is super delicious and the sourness of the yogurt goes amazingly with the sweetness of the melon.
The line can sometimes be very busy which leads to long wait times so if you ever are in the Chinatown area and see that the line is relatively short grab a spot in the line while you can! Can be super quick or a lengthy wait time depending on if itās peak hour. Highly recommend!
I frickin love this place! This place beats all other yoghurt places that have recently opened up. The amount of ice they put in, is to my liking. And great as a refresher!! Me and my boyfriend would always buy one each whenever we are out in the city.
Love their black rice yogurt and I believe it is healthier than bubble milk tea lol. However, does it worth to queue for 20-30 minutes to get this drinkļ¼ I would so NO.
Amazing bubble tea style yogurt with their signature chewy purple rice and choice of other toppings. The queue's super long even on a cold winter night, but it's well worth the wait. Hope they can open a franchise here in Melbourne:)
The best. My bucket list for Sydney trip.
I would recommend the original with purple rice and the melon one - so different with each flavour and so refreshing!
Very nice purple rice and yoghurt place. Although the wait is never ending. I like it that it is not overly sweet and you can tatse the individual rice grains.
Thereās nothing quite like Yomieās! I had the Haw Purple Rice Yogurt the first time I tried it, and immediately came back for more and got the Red Bean Purple Rice Yogurt. Honestly, lines donāt lie. If you happen to pass by Yomieās on a weekend night, you canāt miss the long line outside the humble but well-lit store. If you are not in a rush to go anywhere, or have good company with you, itās worth the wait!! My tip is to come here on a weekday night - the line is significantly shorter. I came here on a Thursday night and waited for just under 5 mins, but had to wait around 30 mins when I visited again on a Saturday evening (~5PM).
Yomieās signature drinks are yogurt based with purple rice. Asian yogurts are generally less thick than some of the brands found in Australia, and therefore goes well with the purple rice which adds both a chewy texture and a fragrant touch to the drink. My favorite is the Haw Purple Rice Yogurt, as itās a combination of sweet, fruity, and sour. It also reminds me of my childhood as hawthorne is a staple snack in China (but so hard to find in Western countries) and definitely brings back pleasant memories.
One thing that I do hope the store changes is to not provide plastic bags to every single order! It seems like such a waste :(
A standout in the recent wave of boba shops hitting the city!

It's a bustling place, always with a lineup, so it must be quite popular that I had to try it. In total, I would say I waited 20 minutes from hopping in line to receiving my order. From what I saw, they do smash out the orders quite quickly, seeing as customers before me ordered nearly 5+ drinks each. I ordered Yomie's Purple Rice Yoghurt and I was very happy with it. It was smooth, not too tart or thick and the rice had the perfect amount of chewiness.
they always have a very long queue and its really nice for them to have a fresh idea mixing a drink like this! inside is yogurt with sticky rice , its like a good alternative for boba milk tea thoš i like the yogurt and the sticky rice is chewy as well so its a really good substiture for boba lolš¤£ 4/5
I didn't think I'd like this drink but thought I'd give it a go. I got the original purple rice with yoghurt and loved it. You get the sour yoghurt flavour but the drink isn't thick like yoghurt then you get the chewy-ness of the purple rice. Great combination.
The lines are very long though so depends on whether you want to wait
Love here, always been there. Love å±±ę„ē“«ē±³ļ¼åå³ē“«ē±³ļ¼ēŗ¢ę£ē“«ē±³ć good way to keep healthy and satisfy your sweet teeth at the same time lol, and the waiting time is kinda worth it
The signature purple rice yoghurt was one of the best drinks Iāve ever had! The drink had a perfect amount of yoghurt, rice and sweetness. Definitely recommend despite the long cue :)
Honestly as much as I love their drinks, I canāt justify waiting for over 20mins in line for something that tastes quite similar to a boost drink. Iāll really only go when the line is relatively short. My favourites are probably the purple rice, and oats flavour. The oats yoghurt drink is less heavy and has a nice toasted flavour; theyāre not like the oats that youād have for breakfast or in your porridge. The purple rice one is nice but really fills you up.
Tastes good! I've tried the same thing in Chongqing before, and it's been quite a while! I love it. I've been there multiple times, it's normally pretty quick to order and pay, but you'll need to wait between 5 minutes to an hour to get your order, depending on day and time you get there - it's generally overwhelmed!
[3.5/5] Worth the hype? Worth the wait? Does it taste good? Ordered:
ā¢No #1: Purple rice yogurt ($6.30) - I can see why this is their number 1 drink. Compared to the strawberry rice yogurt, this one is definitely more interesting and unique. I prefer this more because of the purple rice which is slightly chewy and something for you to chew on like when you get pearls with your milk tea.
ā¢No #2: Strawberry yogurt ($6.80) - The strawberry yogurt takes similar to something that you can probably make or buy at the supermarket. While the taste of this one is quite refreshing, thereās nothing too special about it. Overall, if you love yogurt then I think you will like Yomie. Worth the wait? My boyfriend says yes and weāve gone 3 times now.
*Note*: Thereās essentially 2 lines. 1 line to queue to order the drink and the other is the waiting line to collect the drink. The line to queue usually takes about 5 mins while it takes about 30 mins to wait for the drink. Iām sure the wait is long because itās made fresh because there are maybe 5 or 6 staff already making the drinks. I recommend ordering and then going into the Haymarket building to shop or look around and then come back to collect your drink.
The yogurt was good, the purple rice was chewy and the yogurt was refreshing especially in summer. However it was not good enough for waiting in such a long queue for at least half an hour. If the site is not so busy, go for it! But donāt waste time on that.
Amazing drink. The purple rice is really nutty and chewy. The drink itself is pretty unique and super yum. Thereās a queue always but itās worth waiting for. Usually I donāt wait more than half an hour.
Another popular Asian drink option for Sydneysiders. Different from bubble milk tea, this uses a yogurt drink as the base with added purple rice instead of pearls for the topping. These ingredients almost make it feel like I'm drinking something healthy.Ā
Such a fresh take, and also a very refreshing drink.Ā The yogurt is a nice balance between sweet and tart, and the rice is chewy and glutinous. Does it live to the hype? Yes. Is it worth the hour-long queue? You decide.
Had the most popular purple rice . It was very unique. the rice was slightly chewy which went well with the yogurt. Quite an interesting concept
From this joint, weāve tried their famous purple rice x yoghurt, oats x yoghurt, straw to my berry and Hawaiian bananana. All very lovely and unique drinks, the purple rice x yoghurt is differently our favourite. Made fresh every day, itās lovely aroma makes you want to go back for seconds. The straw to my berry has an extremely smooth texture with the taste of very fresh strawberries. the Hawaiian bananana tasted quite plain as the yoghurt taste overruled the banana and pineapples. Staff are very friendly and will definitely recommend everyone to go!
Got the red bean purple rice yoghurt which was pretty tasty overall. Kind of a mash of Chinese yoghurt and rice which is to be expected. The line wasn't all that long either, except the wait for the drink afterwards was a little bit long.
Queue has really died down and waiting times are now usually
Other yoghurt options are all worth decent, with haw being my favourite. Red bean and jujube takes away some of the yoghurt flavour but worth trying if you're a fan of the additions on their own.
Other drinks are very decent too, avocado one is real thick and creamy.
Absolutely crazy! Limited to 2 cups per person. This yogurt blasted my mind off with its taste.
The queue is so long. Had you wait 10-15mins before it reaches you
Definitely worth the wait if you have time.
Yomie rice yogurt in Haymarket. Nicely designed and interesting combination of two nutricious ingredients. Rice with yogurt to make a healthy and fresh drink. Good idea and it is a nice dessert or a dessert tea.
Had the signature purple rice yogurt. It was sensational! The mixture of sourness from the togurt and chewiness from the purple rice was on point! It was definitely worth the 30 mins wait. Would definitely come back for another drink. For those who love yogurt drinks, you'd definitely find this satisfying rather than bubble milk tea.
One of the best dessert in Sydney, the drink was refreshing and subtle. The drink is affordable, ranging from 6.20 to 7 Dollars depending on what you get. It took AGES to get a drink. It takes about an hour but worth to try.
This is a very popular beverage shop doing yogurt drinks with purple rice and various flavours of yogurt. I tried the yogurt and purple rice one which was actually quite good. I would go back to order it again if only the wait wasnāt almost an hour long.
Saw long queue everything passed this shop.
Decided to try and order yomie purple rice yogurt and cost me $6.30
Taste YUMM š luckily only took me 5 min to queue.
I think is 1st rice yogurt in town.
If you fan of yogurt like I, should try where nearby
2nd day - queue again and try different flavour š
š corner hay and sussex st
Haymarket Sydney
Lined up to give it a go since the lines werenāt crazy long at midday.
We were really unsure as to what to expect but ordered the signature purple rice yoghurt and āpassionate from miles awayā which was just their yoghurt drink with passion fruit.
After ordering, the wait was about 10-15 minutes long which wasnāt too bad as their service and preparation are quite efficient!
We were both pleasantly surprised with our drinks! They had a very strong yoghurt taste that wasnāt overly sweet whilst the rice and passionfruit flavours added a nice subtle twist to the drinks. However, this wouldnāt be a drink I would crave if I wanted something refreshing as it is quite thick and filling.
The yogurt was very wholesome with fresh ingredients. You can definitely taste the strong presence of the indicated flavor. Purple rice was a bit stuck to each other forming rice balls which I did not enjoy too much. The think it is a bit too watery for my liking. However I am glad there wasnāt a lot of sugar. Very tasty drink but I would not join the crazy line for that. Xihuahua š¶
Updateļ¼Melon melon is great when melons are in season! Xiās faith has been restored!
Yoghurt and rice may sound like an odd combination for a drink, but it is absolutely unique and delicious! Will probably wait for the hype to die down to return, but I definitely want to try some of the other items on the menu. Staff were friendly too, especially given how busy it was.

Try new drinks in Sydney! Order the passion fruit yoghurt And purple rice yoghurt. The queue is amazing . Almost one hour to get these. But itās worth it. The yoghurt is really good and not sweet like usual yoghurt. Really delicious. Hope they sell just the yoghurt one day
I was staying near chinatown in the CBD in Sydney.
Always i saw a queue for this shop.
Today me and my wife decided to try it.
It was amazing and delicious.
The packing was fabulous, the service was fast although it was long queue.
The yogurt rice was very tasty , fresh and healthy.
This brand in few years will expand everywhere in the world.
This is a role model how food business succeed from marketing to excellent products , very good packing and service.
The price also is very reasonable.
A great alternative to the usual milk tea if you enjoy yogurt especially for lactose intolerant people, it's easy on the stomach. The yogurt drink is mild in taste and not too sweet though not very thirst quenching. There was plenty of purple rice which made it very filling, like a dessert drink. It's in a popular location so wait times can be quite long depending on the day so be prepared.

okay iām actually sobbing inside that Yomie isnāt in Brisbane because i hereby declare that this was the BEST purple rice yoghurt iāve EVER had, and iāve had purple rice yoghurt fromā¦ 5-6 places??š¤āØ if youāve followed me long enough you know i absolutely ADORE purple rice yoghurtš¤¤šiāve tried countless ones in Brisbane and settled for the one at @yogostbrisbane as my favorite in Brisbane but oh my lord- when i went to Sydney and tried this oneā¦
blew my mind. let me express how good it was, i stayed in Sydney for 3 days and i had it 4 timesš¤š¤£was seriously contemplating taking one away to the airport to drink on the plane back in order to hold onto it as long as i couldš«andddd to top it off, it was only $6.3 !!! the cheapest in Brisbane is $6.6, so it literally cannot get better oh my- cheap, delicious, love itš„ŗš
oh my, purple rice yoghurt will never be the same, @yomiesau i beg you pleaaaseee open up here! š«š„ŗthey werenāt even on my list of places to try, so boy am i glad we walked past them and my eyes caught the words purple rice yoghurt š„ŗš„³
perfect yoghurt to ice ratio, blended perfectly so itās not too icy or too thick and yoghurty, the rice was flavorful and creamy ohhhh my lorddddššabsolutely amazing, @yomiesau you have stolen my heart and i will be heading to you the second i land in Sydney next time!ššš
This place is always packed but service is quick. I normally order the purple rice yoghurt. I like the slight sour of yoghurt (feels healthier compared to milk tea š¤£) and the chewiness of the glutinous rice.
heheh oops I was thirsty so drank too fast and forgot to take the pic before... only pic of after.
refreshing yoghurt- chewy purple rice made me feel so good.
I loved how it was not too sweet at all.
Definitely coming back to try other yoghurt.
Good yogurt good price. Always packed
My happy drink for a perfect cosy afternoon. Enjoyed the refreshing taste of the chewy yogurt drink that makes me feel good and healthy. Definitely understand why there is always a long line in front of the store. We waited for nearly half an hour but worth trying. Will come back when there is a chance that I could skip those queues...
the blend of purple rice and yogurt might sound a little off-putting for some, but it was actually a pleasant surprise. a really refreshing drink. you will have to wait ā itās smack in the middle of chinatown, just saying ā but the queue moves pretty quickly.
