This place has great atmosphere, good food & nice friendly staff and the prices are great for the quality of the food
It is in a nice stop in the street
So glad we stumbled across this hidden gem - high quality ingredients, authentic vibe, very reasonably priced and absolutely lovely chef! Highly recommend the okonomiyaki, eggplant with crab sauce, and teriyaki beef.
Sawa is a cosy and authentic Japanese restaurant in Darlinghurst that serves a range of dishes for lunch and dinner. I am always on the look out for new Japanese places, being a huge fan of Japanese food so decided to pay this place a visit with some friends. We got a range of dishes to share including the Kobachi which was a sashimi mix salad with avocado, I really loved the sauce that brought it all together.
Love the deco and cozy atmosphere, fresh sashimi also the karaage chicken are so tasty different from normal Japanese restaurant, good value for money, not too pricey but you can taste the nice quality Japanese food.We will definitely go back regularly.
We ordered sashimi set, mix tempura and few appetizer to match our drinks. All very delicious and well presented, especially like sashimi set. Even not really fancy restaurant but food was much better than average Japanese Restaurant. Staff were courteous and friendly too, so I would definitely recommend Sawa to anyone waiting a good meal.
Friendly service and great food. The drinks are so good as well. Have to try the beer and sake. Sashimi is very fresh and other dishes are delicious.
Very impressed with the quality of the food and service. Tried Kingfish carpaccio, Sawa Karagge, eggplant with crab source and of course sushi nigiri 🍣 so delicious and can’t wait to go back for more other dishes.
This newly opened Japanese restaurant in Darlinghurst has traditional dishes and a wide range of Japanese sake, beer🍺 and wines🥂 to choose from. The relaxing atmosphere creates the perfect location to catch up with friends over some drinks!
All dishes were delicious, my picks would be the Teriyaki Salmon, Red Bean Bun, Kobachi, Whiting Tempura and the sakes Ippin Yuzu Sake.
Thanks to FCBA and the owners for the invite.
Had a great dining experience with a group of 5. We enjoyed mixed dishes of hot and cold food. The salads were really fresh and crunchy! I particularly loved the breaded oysters, kobachi, Sawa karaage, eggplant and the super delicious unagi with rice; the glaze was just perfection!! Do yourself a favour and get the Yuzu Sakè. Service was great and food was prompt.
Newly renovated restaurant. Much smaller condensed menu compared to the previous Samurai Restaurant here. The standout dish was the Fried chicken. Not so good - the Chicken yakitori - soggy with sauce and no charcoal grill flavour at all. Sushi platter was pretty average. The Squid legs tempura was tasty but rubbery. The chicken udon noodles was also good but nothing special. Staff were very friendly food service with a smile. Just order the fried Chicken and some sake.
What an amazing experience! There are a few restaurants in Sydney that really top this place, in terms of great service that is also very friendly, and makes me want to come back again and again. I highly recommend trying the Sashimi platter that has a great mixture of all different kinds of fish and seafood in general. I also it’s BYO, which is just fantastic. Will be back many times I’m sure, thank you very much! Arigato 😊

One of my new favorite Japanese restaurants in Sydney! Every dish was beautifully presented but also absolutely delicious! My favorite was the Japanese fried chicken and the fried octopus balls. Definitely will be coming back!
Delicious salmon teriyaki. I’m pregnant so I didn’t try the sushi but will go back for sure. Very clean and modern design restaurant. Friendly staff. There is a bar and dining area upstairs which looks perfect for a group dinner or lunch.
Really enjoyed this place recently with a friend! We got a few items each - salad, miso soup, and another entree or roll. The food was delicious, but not very filling. Friendly staff that let us open the doors to get some fresh air while we ate. It’s also BYO which is nice! I’ll be back, but I won’t plan on getting a filling meal here.
