Loved the ambience of this cafe!!
🌱 X23 red egg - was spicier than I expected; croissant was crunchy and yummy!
🌱 Malaysian style brekkie set - loved the Maya with the croissant!
🌱 Salted egg yolk prawn pasta - my favourite dish of them all! Loved the squid ink linguine, and the salted egg yolk was subtle, but delicious.
🌱 Rendang pulled beef burger - there was so much beef in the burger! I loved it, but was a tad too spicy for me
🌱 Ox tongue rice bowl - really enjoyed the rice bowl; super filling; the ox tongue was well cooked too!
⭐️ Pandan-lah
⭐️ Pink Lemonade
⭐️ Pandan Milkshake - the cream was dripping everywhere by the time we were finished with photos HAHA; bit icy at the end of the drink though.
⭐️ Boba Milk Tea Cake - tea flavour was mild, but really well balanced; pearls were chewy, and the sauce was creamy (couldn’t have too much of it though)… LOVED THE PEARLS!

This is somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 if I’m being honest. Some really good dishes and then some pretty average dishes... what they did well was fantastic, like their signature sambal eggs. Coffee was ok, could be better, but they made up for it with some great tea selections
Over the weekend I visited @x23asianfusioncafe for the first time. This #collab was planned way ahead of #covid but due to everything it was postponed. I was blessed to meet 3 beautiful foodies and we shared our passion for food and food photography together! Dishes and drinks ordered 🥳:• Ox tongue rice bowl 🐮• Beef steak rice bowl • Salted egg yolk prawn pasta 🦐• X23 red eggs - Homemade spicy sambal sauce, scambled eggs, crab, curry leaves on croissants 🥐 • Brown sugar boba iced latte • Skinny green juice 🍋• Immune booster juice 🍊• Salted coconut iced chocolate 🥥Let's talk highlights, I loved the rice bowls. Meat was soft still and very flavourful. Am I the only one who doesn't get the craze of salted egg...? 😟I didn't really enjoy this dish as much, I did try the pasta which was okay for my liking but something about it didn't sit right with me. Ya girl did not try the prawns cause I'm allergic but it sure looks good 😅If you love your spice, I do recommend the x23 eggs! Packed a punch especially after but not one of those that lingered in your mouth for too long so you could still taste your food. It was a great pair with the croissant which added a nice crunch to the eggs.
The shroom room shrooms ($16.80) were quite shroomy. The eggs were well poached, and most of the shrooms were enjoyable, particularly the enoki. One particular mushroom had a strong Vegemite-like taste which I was not a fan of. Maybe my palate is not developed enough. But maybe I just know what I like and this particular long shroom wasn’t it.
Gotta love the milo drink! X23 cafe is definitely the perfect cafe if you are craving for an half Asian cuisine for brunch! I got to recommend the chilli crab dish - it was by far my favourite dish they have. I would say staff is friendly.
Food was good but went on a sat morning and was understaffed, had to wait for long.
It’s no secret that Malaysian cuisine is one of our favourites with the spectrum of aromatic flavours on offer. But unlike other Asian cuisines which have been the subject of fusion experiments, we haven’t seen Malaysian cuisine having much of the same kind of treatment…until X23 Cafe came onto the scene.
Try the iced brown sugar latte boba, it was delish!
Perfect for hot SYDNEY weather.
Coffee was strong, and over all latte wasn’t that sweet!
Perfect!
Salted Coconut Chocolate was ok, but I prefer latte boba.
I love the idea of an Asian fusion inspired brunch and X23 did not disappoint! The salted egg yolk prawn pasta is a must order. The black squid ink linguine with butter glazed prawns was deliciously immersed with the glorious salted egg yolk and I couldn't get enough of it! I also loved the pandan waffles with homemade kaya jam and vanilla ice cream - absolutely delicious, and another winning dish. The X23 red eggs was a very interesting dish, and I enjoyed the sambal flavoured scrambled eggs. Such a unique flavour combination, and a super generous portion size of eggs!
On drinks, my taro latte was one of the best I've had with a super cute paw lolly on top. The only disappointing part of the meal was the winter special mandarin orange oolong tea, which tasted very watery and really did not meet expectations. Other than that, this is a brilliant cafe with some super inventive dishes, and I adore the touch of Asian flavours!
Order:
1. Malaysian style brekkie set
2. Eggs Benedict
Atmosphere of the cafe is very cosy and pleasant. Service was great and quick. Location might be a bit difficult to find however.
Brekkie set was a nice change to normal western breakfast. The kaya on toast is sweet which is nicely contrasted with the milk tea which is slightly more bitter.
Eggs Benedict was very filling. The siracha bacon has a nice slight kick to it, which pairs well with the other savoury parts. The roti is crispy and much better than average toast.
Overall highly recommend this cafe if you are near central or UTS.
This place has really unique and interesting flavours! I had the avocado toast, which went really well with the chili marinated feta on top. The coffee was also great and the entire vibe of the place is very chill.
The sound of Nasi Lemak and Beef Rendang is surely comforting on a cold winter day, but our destination this time is not a Malaysian restaurant as such. Located in the Central Park dining precinct, X23 Cafe offers brunch with a touch of Malaysian influence. . Eat Malaysian Breakfast Set like a native , with two soft boiled eggs, butter and kaya on toast, and traditional Malaysian milk tea. Eggs Benedict, bacon and egg roll, ham and cheese croissant are also available if you don’t fancy anything too exotic. Pandan or peanut waffles can be enjoyed on its own or as a dessert after savoury dishes. The waffles are crunchy outside and fluffy when you bite into it.
Have to say I wish this was in Melbourne - love the Malaysian fusion brunch dishes with flavours such as pandan, apam balik and milo! Each dish was unique yet utterly delicious...salted egg pasta, nasi Lemak burger....the waffles were also perfection! Highly recommending adding this to your to go list if in Sydney
WEEKEND BRUNCH INSPO❗️ The most incredible spread at x23asianfusioncafe 😍 with the most sensational flavours and gorgeous presentation. They have truly redefined the meaning of brunch with their adorable Asian fusion cafe in Chippendale! Bringing signature dishes from Malaysia and combining them with brunch classics, they have created something magical.
I tried the following dishes:
💚Malaysian Pandan Waffles: Freshly made pandan waffles smooth kaya jam, lychee, seasonal fruits, and vanilla ice cream. This was fresh, flavoursome and the lychee added a beautiful touch. Really loved the strong pandan flavour!
❤️Signature Red Eggs: Sambal scramble eggs, crab, curry leaves, and hot buttery croissant. I’ve never tried scrambled eggs with crab but this was delicious, it’s a very heavy dish so probably best to share or save it for a very hungry day! Beautifully presented and super tasty
🧡Signature Nasi Lemak Burger: Chicken marinated with turmeric, fried egg, fresh cucumber, special sambal sauce, milk bun, and prawn crackers. This was probably one of my favourite dishes, the flavours were amazing and especially loved the prawn crackers (and dipping them in the chilli crab sauce!) The chicken was so crispy and yum! Still dreaming about this dish.
🖤 Apam Balik- peanut waffles with Malaysian Butter, condensed milk, creamed corn, homemade special crushed peanuts and vanilla ice cream. The most unique waffle I’ve ever had in terms of taste and presentation. First of all it was black, so visually it was striking. The strong taste of corn was so brilliant and the dish is a very well thought of and fabulous take on traditional waffles!
💛Golden Chilli Crab Pasta: angel hair pasta, soft shell crab and a fried mini bun. Combining everyone’s favourite chilli crab with spaghetti, what’s not to love? What a genius way to make use of the brilliant chilli sauce- wow wow wow!
I will definitely be back here, I will definitely order everything again and I can’t recommend this place enough 😍😍👌🏽👌🏽
Experience the joys of brunch in a Malaysian and Australian fusion cafe at X23. It is conveniently close to Central station hidden behind Central Park. The interior of the cafe is cute and cozy. The food is just as delicious! The X23 signature red eggs is a must try. The crab flavour is strong, and the eggs are super soft paired nicely with a crunchy croissant. X23 is the first place in Sydney I found with rendang and nasi lemak burgers. Both still carry the rich flavour of these all-time favourite Malaysian dishes. Also, love the creativity of the deconstructed milo cereal drink and its presentation. A nice way to end any meal is dessert. The pandan waffles were full of flavour, warm and soft.

This Malaysian inspired cafe was hidden among the central park apartments and had a nice lazy Sunday aesthetic to it
Had the shrooms here, I liked that it was light and not overly salted, which allowed the different combinations of the mushrooms to speak for themselves, with a tinge of beetroot purée completing the dish. This dish for me was one of textures, with the mushrooms having different levels of springiness blending with the crunch from the kale. However the poached eggs were slightly overlooked and the bread was a bit soggy - the mushrooms could be drained beforehand to rectify
The eggs Benedict was served with roti which was a unique but pleasant twist
I will definitely be back to try the golden chilli crab pasta which unfortunately seemed to heavy for an early breakfast, as well as the burger
We started our Sydney foodie tour on the right foot visiting X23 ! This is my favourite kind of breakfast - dishes like a salted egg yolk pasta, pandan waffles, and apam balik! Flavours were on point and I’m already planning on going again when I come back to Sydney! The best part? Getting to enjoy it with my favourite foodie family
Love the pandan waffles and sambal egg croissant, the waffles came with real dots of coconut jam and the croissant had little tasty touches like curry leaves and crispy shallots which really elevated them to the next level. Only negative was the air con was out the day we went so it was stuffy but otherwise the place is beautifully decorated and a perfect way to while away your Sunday morning.
What a hidden gem that’s so close to my place! The mantou is perfect, the kaya jam is unexpectedly delicious, and every dish my friends and I have tried so far have been wonderful! Loved the LNY hong bao packets with the coupons, definitely coming back for sure!
Been eyeing up this place for a while due to some of their incredibly delicious looking dishes. Grabbed the signature red eggs and their Nasi Lamek burger and was not disappointed at all. Great mix of flavours, and great service to match.
extremely friendly service at and a nice atmosphere at x23! the cafe was relatively empty by 2pm on a weekday, but service took a while as there was only 1 chef cooking up 5 dishes for us. They had free lollies in recognition of Chinese New Year, which was very lovely of them. The size of the drinks was slightly disappointing, given the price, but regardless, the teh tarik was a good drink if you enjoy your milk tea. The pandan flavour in the actual waffles themselves was very subtle, but tasted better with the kaya jam. The salmon was cooked well and the oriental salad was refreshing. Overall, a pleasant experience at an asian fusion restaurant!
I went to do a collab with the restaurant and they offered a wide selection of Malaysian fusion dishes.
It’s an original option in Chippendale.
Staff is really friendly, the dishes are well presented and the location is ideal !!
My favourite dishes were the waffles ”Pandan lah” (green in the pictures) and the black ones called “apam balik” . Soft dough and delicious fruit and ice cream on top !
I also tried these as savoury options:
X23 Signature red eggs
Nasi Lemak Chicken Burger
Golden chilli crab pasta
Really lovely and intimate homey vibe with fantastic malay fusion bites and even more delicious desserts. The super friendly staff made for an overall lovely experience.
X23 Cafe is a new Malaysian fusion cafe in Chippendale, serving Malaysian style dishes in a brunch environment. I like Malaysian food as long as its not too spicy so I decided to pay it a visit and try it out. To start we ordered the Taro and red velvet lattes, I thought they were nice and creamy and a good accompaniment to the food.
A cafe located in Central Park area that offers Malaysian fusion menu.
Ambience:
-bright and neat. The smell of sambal paste can be quite pungent to some as soon as you step in; my nose did get used to it shortly after though.
Drink:
-ordered an iced soy latte (served separately see photo) and an iced mocha. Both drinks were good. Nothing to fault.
Food:
-chilli crab pasta: I’m 50/50 on this dish really. It is definitely different; not a flavour or combo that you’d normally have at a cafe. I’m not sure about the fried buns (more carbs and deep fry to an already heavy-ish dish?). The serving size is generous though.
- shrooms room shrooms: nicely done. Sautéed mushroom (closed cup and king oyster) and kale with some deep fried enoki mushroom on top, two poached eggs, beetroot purée and cream cheese. Any mushroom lover would enjoy this.
-sweet potato chips with two sauces: chips are crispy and seasoned properly. Sauces are the highlight! Sambal Mayo is very unique and yum - ‘if sambal Mayo is sold at Coles, I’d get it’ that level of yum.
Service:
-Ordered at the counter however staff are friendly. No complaint.
Overall a nice addition to the area. Worth trying for
those who would want something different.
X23 Cafe is an Asian Fusion Cafe located in the hub of Chippendale near the Central Park Mall and the Kensington Street Food Hub. If you’ve never heard about them before, it is because they are tucked away, hidden amongst the vast and ever-expanding apartment building blocks that fill the area.

The Tarik and Rose Latte taste great, and are quite insta-worthy food 👍🏻 Love Teh Tarik so much, it is the Malaysian style milk tea which comes with the black grass jelly, so special that we would say it’s the very first time having it 😊 And for the rose latte, it has a deep rose flavor and a baby pink color, super duper cute💗

Chippendale seems to have a few hidden gems and amongst them is X23 Asian Fusion Café. If you know me well then you'll know that I'm a diehard fan of Asian cuisine and even more so Asian fusion.
I was lucky enough to try the following meals and drinks:
Golden Chilli Crab Pasta $25
Rendang Pulled Beef Burger $16
Taro-ffic $17.90
Pandan-lah $19.90
Milo Cereal Killa
Teh Tarik - Malaysian Milk Tea $6
Hibiscus and Rose Tea $5
Butterfly Pea Lemongrass Tea
Savoury dishes were full of flavour and had great heat. All the proteins were cooked to perfection and the mantou (fried mini buns) were an absolute winner for me. Waffles were incredible and I loved that they showcased beautiful Asian ingredients like taro, kaya and lychee. Overall, I had a great time at X23 and would definitely return. As such, this café deserves nothing less than a 5/5.
I'd like to extend my thanks to The Brunch Beast for the invite and X23 for hosting us.

I’m lying, I worship MJ to the point where I wear his number and copy that weird tongue thing he did on the court. I worship MJ and love the number to the point where a random cafe in Chippendale called itself X23 and I cancelled plans with my Dad so I could go see what it was about. That was another lie, I cancelled plans with both parents.
Happened to go to Central Park for a meeting. Found this place and is being attracted by the design and logo of the cafe. I’m a taro lover and trust me, this is the best taro waffle I had ever tried, the sweetness is just nice and taro taste is very strong. Will definitely come back to try some other dishes.
Food:
Eggs Benedict 4/5
Loved the taste of this dish - simple and cute :)
The only thing that threw me off, was the little cherry tomatos. I personally, didn't think the taste blends well with the dish as it seemed like it was more for the presentation. Perhaps sweet potato? Pumpkin slices instead?
Teh Tarik 5/5 - great taste! perfect balance of sweetness and beautiful presentation
Taro Latte 4/5 - cute!
Interior Deisgn 5/5
Atmosphere 5/5 - calm during the brunch hours on a weekday
Customer Service 4/5 - nice people

New cafe just opened around this area. This cafe served Asian fusion style. I tried their signature nasi lemak burger, x23 scrambled egg and chili crab pasta.
The nasi lemak burger is good. The chicken flavored really well!
X23 scrambled egg spicy and delicious.
The pasta reminds me chilli crab Singapore. So creative.
Must try cafe. Love it
