bought a groupon voucher to dine in. it was definitely a good deal for $15pp for one entree, one main, dessert plus wine. love the satay with peanut sauce.. that was the highlight of all the dishes. service was fast & friendly.
The foods here are very tasty, especially the pad and noodles... the rice dishes are also good but not as impressive as the pad dishes. We have got a Groupon deal which is obviously very good in terms of price. The place seems to be pretty busy on Friday. The dark side of this place is to do with the hygiene. My wife got a glass of wine, but the glass hasn't been washed properly. Otherwise it seems a place for bargain and nice food.
Tasty and cheap lunch options. We had pad Thai and pad see ew- both were really yum but could have had a few more vegetables to make them more fresh/healthy. Staff were friendly and helpful and meals were very quick
Sir And Mlady Dine Out

Plern Thai is a newish kid on the block in the booming Thainatown of Sydney CBD. In an area that boasts more Thai restaurants per square kilometre than anywhere else in Sydney more place keep appearing. Plern isn't a big place and has a smallish street front. Yet it has a pleasant atmosphere inside with its street art vibe adorning the walls everywhere you look.During the day it also has a lunch menu - as almost every place there has. We were there to try this out.
Not bad this place. A $7 groupon deal gets you a pad see ew and a soft drink. Good amount of noodles and i like the addition of a lemon wedge.
Came back here with 3 mates on a groupon voucher for dinner. Fabulous food and service.
Ordered duck and noodles, curry, fried rice, pad see ew (dont remember the exact names for the dishes) and were all delicious.
Great food! We had the green curry, red panang curry duck, seafood salad, chilli crispy pork. The flavours were strong and authentic and the staff was friendlier than most. Only downside was the crying tiger beef was tough and chewy - maybe a bad cut? But it still tasted amazing - just the texture was not pleasant.
It seems they didn't have many people there tonight. Maybe low reviews on Zomato are people putting off?
Eat there! You won't regret it!
The minced Thai basil (pad kha prao) is delicious, on the sweet side though. Som tum is rich in fish sauce balanced is uber fresh shredded paw paw. Get a scoopon deal and this place is a steal, currently 3 courses for 2 plus a bottle of wine for $29.
Dinner here tonight..... Yum. I had red curry duck and it was absolutely beautiful, as was my salt and pepper squid entrée. Could eat it every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. I wish i could cook rice the way the Thai people do, this place is great value, good service, nice atmosphere, loved it. We will be back.
Highly recommend this place.
Plern’s discrete entrance is easy to miss, especially given it’s next door is the brash and bright dessert cart of the long established Thanon Khaosan. But step inside and you’ll marvel at the whimsical, naiive mural art, pastel lunch box feature wall and an imposing lead light centre piece.
Pad kha prao is a big hit: beef is minced and sweetly marinated. The combo of fish sauce and this dripping sweetness works deliciously well.
Heavenly saturated in many mouth watering flavour and you can almost see them show up just as colourfully in my pictures. We thoroughly enjoyed this dinning experience in a chilled out urban revival setting with great live musicians! It's fantastic!
Pretty good value with a voucher. I had the pad see eaw which was tasty except it was slightly too sweet. It had a good range of vegetables - carrots, spinach, mushroom and beans. Only 2 pieces of tofu though. Overall was a great meal. Fairly quiet at midday on Tuesday. Setting is nice and cosy, could probably fit a large group of 20 if you booked in advance. The seats are stools which is cool. The food is cooked to order so comes out steaming hot.
Inside the graffiti art looms large and borders on jaw dropping in scale. This place looks GOOD. Pity the entrance is so understated. Most will miss it and veer next door to the dessert cart featured Khaosan.
Plern som tum is fierce, even at medium; rich and punchy. Pad kha prao pork is minced and is umami rich and uber sweet. The combo works brilliantly. Staff are so sweet, even by Thai standards. Pity it's so easy to miss even after six months of trading.
We booked with a voucher, 2 entrees, 2 main and 2 deserts with a bottle of wine and a bowl of rise, we where full in the end, ma D the quality of the food was really good, can't say to much on the portions size, that was way to small for the entrees and anyway under expectations all over the selection of dishes we had, service was really good and helpful, overall I'll recommend this restaurant to couple and small groups as well.
