When I wrote, on Boxing Day, that I wanted to try Christie’s, to compare it to the Fish Market Cafe which is right next door, I didn’t expect that I’d be able to do so less than a week later, with my in-laws rather than my family. But that’s the thing: the Fish Market really is the perfect place for visitors to Sydney to come for a meal and soak in the vibe of this bustling market.
Going to Sydney Fishmarket, I wasn't sure which shop to choose... But my father wanted to eat nice Oysters so were recommended this place which was first shop on the left going in... Turned out the place had everything... Oysters with small, medium, large sizes and prices are very affordable, i prefer the smaller size but my father really enjoyed the larger ones... Salmon sashimi was superb... calamari and few other smaller dishes were great... Tried the Unagi too... Next time i would probably skip the fish and chips though... My wife loves the crabs so it was nice variety for all of us... For people coming from overseas the waiters are mostly Asian so they can speak mandarin, cantonese, and some also Indonesian...
Just make it before they close for the day! Not very crowded and can enjoy food leisurely. My No.1 choice at fish market for lobster and oysters

One of the earliest outlets in fish mkt to offer tank to plate cooked lobsters, crabs, fish, basically anything you see in their tanks, you pay and they will happily cook the way you want it. Plenty of sauces on offer though more to asian tastes (think singapore chilli crab, sweet and sour, ginger and shallots, black pepper and the like). You want noodles with your cooked lobster? No problem sir. You want spaghetti with your crabs? Errr, not today sir.
Of course nowadays the other seafood outlets in fish mkt have followed suit, i still find meself drawn to good ol christies for its cooked to order crabby paddy. Point, crab on the scale, GASP at the price, pay up and look forward to kisses from my missus whenever i surprise her with her fav.
Give christies a go peeps🍻. Ps. Try their freshly shucked oysters while you wait.
Finally, we gathered a big group so we can have cook-to-order fresh live crab in the Fish Market! Today our meal is a giant mud crab and cooked ginger shallot sauce with noodles. The crab tastes juicy and tender - we are very happy with it. The only downside is the service, no enough napkins tools provided. A good but relatively expensive meal experience.
The freshest salmon and scallop sashimi I have ever had in my life. I can't say whether it's better than other places at the market because this was the only place I got sashimi from.
Felt like having seafood today so off we go to the fish market.
We ordered Ginger sauce crab and cheese coated salmon rice in scallop.
The salmon rice is very tasty and one of kids' favourite. The live crab meat is sweet and firm. The sauce is a bit salty and can be better if only they garnish it with chillies. Price is well above the average market price for the live crab.
Bottom line : Good food. Good service. Average value
Oh my gosh, I had some really fresh and juicy pacific oysters and tiger prawns here. I think I know where to get my prawns next time if I am around.

I think this place offers the most cheapest and freshest sashimi at the fish market. I believe it was around $45 per kg for salmon and $75~80 per kg for the tuna. Oysters were $15 for a dozen and the seafood basket was $13.50. Great value and good taste.
Fresh, delicious oysters and salmon, tuna sashimi! Good service and there's usually no line. Price is slightly cheaper comparing to Peter's I think
These rock oysters are rich and creamy with a really smooth texture. They were really plump and fresh. This is my favourite way of eating oysters - freshly shucked with a squeeze of lemon. Can't wait to come back for more.
I used to always get my oysters from Christies Seafoods which have a great range of freshly shucked oysters nicely displayed in their black trays but since discovering Nicholas Seafood actually provide the trays to you it's become more tempting to choose from them so the oysters are kept separated during transport and don't spill as easily.
Fresh!. Ridiculously fresh seafood and well cooked!
Fresh seafood at its best. I came to this place for nothing but this dish, the king crab cooked in ginger and shallot sauce, check out the photo. Being handpick from a live aquarium, the taste is what everybody will expect. Fresh, juicy, and full of flavour. The natural sweetness is enhanched through the ginger and speing onions. When the crab meat is finished, the egg noodle bed provides the final blow. Yess, being put on the bed under all the sauces, crab juices, and all, it has the most flavour all soaked in this humble bed of noodles. If you take the crabs as an advanturous eating, the noodles will keep it well as a nice warm comforting food.
My rating: A MUST TRY WHEN YOU ARE IN SYDNEY
