Had my sons 1st birthday party last week and glad to say we had a really good time. The food was delicious, venue clean and well maintained and last but not the least ms. Renu personally looked into the arrangements to ensure everything went smoothly. Two thumbs up and a 5 star rating!
With no experience with vegetarian Indian cuisine we were unsure as to what to expect but the hostess helped us select our meal and it was superb honestly the best Indian food I have eaten!!
The taste was very good. We had chilli panner for starters and then the butter naan’s and paneer kali mirch. Which was very tasty. Was delighted with the food overall.
It is truly a gem, specially for vegeterians! Amazing food, great service. I love chaat and simple as chaat sounds, there aren't that many places that can serve just the perfect taste! Loved their stuffed rotis as well! I would highly recommend to everyone!!
On my visit from Thailand I happened to dine here.Awesome food excellent service and a very positive loving environment😊strongly recommend to all
One of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in Sydney. Starting from some of the lip smacking Indian chaats to authentic north Indian and south Indian delicacies, this place has it all.
We visited Taj Bhavan after getting a glowing recommendation from a friend, and Im glad we went. The restaurant is a nice quaint place, with a definite openness to it. We went around 9ish so it was quite chilly and the front part was open so we definitely had to keep our jackets on. Now on to the food. Since we're Swaminarayans, this was the perfect place to go since they had specific items that cater to us. we had the chilly paneer and let me tell you the portion size is more than adequate. But be wary of the chillies, only hardcore chilly eaters can stomach such items. All of us agreed the food was definitely worth the reasonable prices. The waitress was very friendly and helped us choose what items we may like. She was fast courteous and friendly and understanding of the plight we Swaminarayans feel. But what impressed me the most was what Rainu ( I believe thats her name, sister of the owner?) did. She came by our table and like a good host asked us how our food was. We appreciated her hospitality, but after our brief chat, she took away my water. Why? She claims that since she was standing above us, anything could have fallen into my water glass. Folks, its these small things that make a difference. Yes, they try their best to make the food as tasty as possible, but sometimes that isnt possible 100% of the time. We customers have to be aware of that. But when was the last time the owner took away your water for the fact that something might have fallen into it? Never. So please drop by Taj Bhavan and indulge in their whole menu. You wont regret it! You'll definitely go back again! -Sanjay (Toronto, Canada)
My visit to Sydney was worth as I got food of my choice n my taste..very tasty food n courteous staff ...thanks Taj Bhavan for your excellent services 😊😊😊😊
Really enjoyed the delicious Indian food . It was really tasty and hot. The service was fantastic. I would not hesitate to go back for more.

Visiting Sydney from Canada. Friends and family recommended Taj for a dinner out. Turned out to be an awesome experience. Every little thing from a warm welcome to delicious authentic Indian cuisine was well taken care of. Very professional staff. The manager herself takes great care that your experience at taj is nothing less than awesome. It is a great place to enjoy great family time out. Hope they can come up with a branch in Calgary too someday. Awesome place awesomer service awesomest food. Thank you to taj and and all their staff.
Never been to a Indian before so didn’t know what to expect. Looking at the menu didn’t know what was what. The gentleman came over went through the menu with us. He gave us some recommendations to us, so he had what he recommended. All the dishes were delicious. The staff were excellent a very enjoyable evening.
Taj Bhavan vegetarian restaurant is a big bright restaurant, set in a renovated cottage. This location served up a favourite bombay street food snack called pani puri, which is a crisp hollow pocket that you fill with raita(mint yogurt) and chutney. Bang this little pocket in your mouth then be hit by the flavour explosion. We also shared the raj kachori, pretty much a super sized Pani puri, nicely presented too.
Cane here for a quick bite with long time friend. Ordered their Malai Kofta, Paneer Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, basmati rice and Rasmalai for dessert. Liked their Paneer Tikka Masala Garlic Naan and Rasmalai which is abovev average. Not impressed with their Malai Kufta but in general happy with the meals. Service is good. The food came out reasonably quickly.
Next up is the Taj Bhavan on the Taste Food Tour. Have you heard of Taste Food Tours? They are a not-for-profit organisational the promote diversity and cultural harmony. Their Harris Park tour is a cracking tour and full of new things to try if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine.Next up is my favourite venue of the tour which is the Taj Bhavan. It's located along the street of houses which are also restaurants.
Amazing authentic indian cuisine. Loved the food. True to tradition. Must visit. Feels like home away from home. Highly recommend for all.!!
This restaurant is situated close to my home that's walking distance. Went for breakfast here since was doing grocery shopping nearby. I ordered for tomato and onion uttappam which took a long time to come. But the taste was good served with two chutneys and sambar. The quantity was good too. Also ordered for medu wada again quantity was good and quality too.
Service is ok and pricing too is ok. May go again to have their sweets.
Had been to Taj bhavan a few times. The food is at par with any good restaurant here in India . I would like to say.....Excellent food great service.a must try👍🏻
Wigram street in Harris Park is inundated with everything Indian from restaurant's to groceries to accommodation avenues. It's the restaurant's dazzling with lot of color and glitter of the Indian kind that attracts the attention. There are plenty of eateries here with traditional Indian names catering to cuisine from up north. One such fine dining place is Taj Bhavan. Quite akin to most of the other hotels lined up on this stretch, this one resembles a house converted into a restaurant.
The ambiance is pretty plain jane with nothing really eye popping. The color palette largely adopts the Indian tri color whether it be the wall paintings, portraits or even the light bulbs which are ignited with saffron, white and green. The decor is simple with just plastic chairs of green and orange colors and the tables are all white again giving an imprint of freedom and India.
It was however the food which walked the talk. Considering from the outset there wasn't anything really appealing, the food was quite a delight and ended up being way beyond expectations. We started our foray with soup and a bunch of entrees. The tomato soup was absolutely lip smacking and the smell of cream was apparent in every mouth. It's been a long time since I tasted such fine quality tomato soup. The sweet corn soup too was good however well short of the brilliance of the former. We had two varieties of chats viz Dahi puri and Bhel puri. The Dahi puri was lovely. Though it wasn't decorated with curd and masala on the plate, the inside of the puri had the ammunition to set the tongue rolling with excitement. The bhel puri was passable. It was crunchy but somehow lacked the muster. We also had a ball galloping the Achari panneer tikka, corn cheese balls and Gobi 65. The panneer made in sizzler style was especially top notch.
On to the main course, we told for an assortment of Indian breads with the Dal Bhukara and Kali Mirch Panneer for company. Be it the Naan or Tandoori Roti or the Aloo/Gobi Parathas, they passed the test with flying colors. What really elevated it were the side dishes. The Kali Mirch panneer with a twang of sweetness and hint of pepper with succulent pieces of cottage cheese floating gracefully on the gravy was brilliant. The Dal Bhukara was a show stealer. Just didn't expect the black dal to be so good in a little known place. I found it to be better than most high end fine dining restaurant's back home.
We rounded our evening with Salt Lassi and Mango Lassi. The salt lassi was flavored with tinge of masala bits and seemed a good digester however found it to be a tad watery. The mango based one was a bit too sweet for the liking though it was pretty thick.
Overall the food turned out to be quite exceptional especially pinning down some of the stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed the tomato soup, Achari Panner Tikka, Dal Bhukara and the Panneer Kali Mirch. Nothing was bad and everything was bordering from the good to excellent. The service was a mixed bag. Items came to our table in a jiffy which is a good sign but it seemed time consuming in clearing the consumed food particles thus occupying too much space on the table. The rates seem fairly reasonable for the quality of food on offer.
This was our last tryst with restaurant hunting during our short stint in Sydney and we were glad to have chosen this place which really proved to be quite a fitting farewell to our foodie escapades over the last couple of weeks. Would definitely recommend Taj Bhavan for high quality North Indian cuisine.
Simply loved the food!
Good place for Vegetarians in Sydney.Located in Harris Park!
Portion size is decent,Staff is friendly.
Dal Makhni was excellent,Breads were crisp ,Paneer was average! But overall good experience..
Can't wait to visit again!
Lovely ambience, courteous staff..just got started with a Tandoori Chicken. It was served on a hot platter, chicken cooked well, sliding off the bone. Once starters were over, we called for main course. We had goat curry and garlic naans. That took a while to arrive. Ask for everything to be served together, that will be a fantastic eating experience.
We went to Not Just Curries to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were happy we chose this place.
The choice of food was amazing and taste was mouth watering. The staff are also very friendly. Will definitely come back again
One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. The flavours were simply amazing. There are these fried onion and chicken entrees that tasted really good. The vegetarian dishes like the Dahl makhni were epic. The Naans were delicious and went well with the curries. Prices were fair and you come out feeling pretty full. Place is packed and noisy. The waiters were friendly and give great suggestions - ask for the popular dishes. Food comes out really quickly too. Bring cash for a discount.
Excellent Indian restaurant in the heart of the little India in Sydney - Harris Park. Well priced and food was very tasty (especially the garlic naan and the spicy take on butter chicken). Decent drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) on offer. Staff were friendly and efficient - will definitely be back
Absolutely incredible food, every dish was delicious and the atmosphere was fun and light.
Best Indian I've had in years
The service was lovely too, and everyone had a smile on their face.
Highly recommended!

My favourite Indian in Sydney!! Came here with a big group and the staff were so lovely and accomodating, had great recommendations for the food, were very accomodating for our mild friends, the food came out quickly and most importantly the food was DELICIOUS. If you eat any Indian in Sydney, eat here!!
Also get the dahi puri - YUM
My daughter and i ate here. It was her first time eating at an Indian restaurant. We had butter chicken, lamb korma, garlic naan and saffron rice. She also had a mango lassi. I had a coke. $70.00. My daughter wants to go again. Everything was just right. The whole family will go next time.
We booked for 1800 hrs which was good because there were a lot of reserved tables.
