I had dinner at Jiu Long Ding recently with a friend as he was keen on hotpot and the old favourite, Chongqing Hotpot was obviously under new ownershipand looked very uninspiring.
Service was good if a little difficult as the waiter didn’t speak much English at all. Presentation of the food was good and I liked the mini hotpots.
The restaurant looks great too. The only negative was the price. I have never been able to understand why hotpot restaurants are so expensive. After all, you have to do the cooking yourself! We had a beer each for a total bill of $150 for two of us and it wasn’t like we ate ourselves to the absolute limit.
Overall, nice restaurant but it isn’t cheap.
Came today with my family to try a hot pot restaurant in Chinatown. Food was amazing for a hot pot restaurant. All fresh ingredients and great variety. I found the hot pot broth to be full of flavour without the usual MSG enhancements or other preservatives. Impeccable service as they treated my family with 3 young boys with a great deal of detail to attention. One of the waiters was especially nice to explain the hot pot sauce station to my boys. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the vicinity.
