Review Auvers - Sydney

Anna Lynn
Nice cafe at darling square. Staffs are super friendly and service is quick. Food is delicious and nicely presented. Truffle mushroom risotto is amazing. Highly recommended. Coffee and mocktail are great as well. This cafe/restaurant is always busy so book in advance or be there early to secure your table. We’ll definitely come back again.

On a Friday night, most of the nice food outlets at Darling Square would be fully booked. We had a last minute dinner requirement and was fortunate that we managed to get a place for our party of 5 at Auvers. The staff were very friendly & helpful in their effort to locate a place for us. Though it was rather cold that evening, the table we had was beside the fire tower. Even though our dinner order was among the last ones before the kitchen closes, the food were very well done. The highlight were the Truffle Mushroom Risotto, and the Pork Roulade, absolutely delicious. Overall we had a wonderful experience, friendly helpful staff, delicious food and nice atmosphere.

Lovely customer service. A pleasant experience overall. Came here in hopes of trying the Hello Kitty Specials. Fortunate enough to try one of the dishes which I had wanted to try. The Lazy Egg Burger and Crab Omelette was very tasty and well seasoned. The Crab Omelette was really smooth and delicious. Unfortunately, did not get to try the tarts. Was told that they were only reserved for customers who had made bookings in advance. Did not know that! It would be nice if this was noted on the website so that others would be knowledgeable prior to rocking up to the cafe. Lost a star for that! Noting that here in hopes that others don’t make the same mistake as I did.

We went there to try the hello kitty menu and found everything super cute and aesthetically pleasing. The drinks were beautiful and delicious, as well as the pork belly bowl from their normal menu. However, the pancakes were a miss as the pink cream sauce made everything super soggy and overly sweet. Update: Visited again recently and I gotta say that I’m thoroughly disappointed. At $17, the avocado toast was one of the most expensive avocado toasts I’ve ever tried and by far the most underwhelming - there was no flavour at all and the presentation was questionable(?) The $28 mushroom risotto was fine for a few bites but seemed over cooked and was really oily so we got sick of the flavour really quickly.

This cafe in Darling Square serves variety of delicious and huge brunch menus. Service is quick and great and price was quite pricey. But it was worth to try the food here. The food is cute and plated nicely which made me didnt want to destroy it :) Overall, good service, good food and nice ambience!

Food is as good as it looks. If you love to photos of your food, presentation is nothing short of exceptional. Flavours here are very unique and do not disappoint the tongue. Prices are great for a decent meal. The place is a popular spot for people to meet, so you may expect to wait to get a seat but definitely worth the wait.

- Staff: friendly. Willing to give honest advices on the menu options. - Coffee: 2 out of 5… we ordered 2 coffees and both tasted as the milk was burnt. - Food: we ordered an avo toast and a burger. Both were good but the burger and chips were cold. - Ambience: really nice vibes and people. Busy place on a Sunday noon. There was a 15 minutes waiting time and they took our number and called us once a table was available. - Service: nice service, really friendly staff. - Misc: knifes weren’t that good.

Food was delicious and well presented except for the kids nuggets which were hollow. Unfortunately there was just not enough food in the main meal. Smears of vegetable may look and taste nice but are not filling and the price was expensive to leave not feeling full. Staff run off their feet and we were left waiting.

When my partner was a wee lass working in Concord she would always try and drag me to Auvers Cafe in Rhodes for brunch. “Why?” I ‘d ask her. “Why do you keep wanting me to go with you, even though you can go by yourself for breakfast after a night shift?” Her answer was always that she wanted to share this delicious food with me.

Eggs Benedict was super tasty with a twist with pulled pork which melted in my mouth. The risotto was very rich and creamy, super flavourful. Definitely recommend both those dishes. Their drinks are super pretty as well! Prices were average cafe prices and portion size was pretty good.

Yes Guys!! You have no idea how much I love Auvers!! No matter how many times I go here for lunch or dinner, the food is always good!! Great customer service from the waiter! Both lunch and dinner menu was good! Definitely perfect for a date night!
The Next Rush
Incorporating Darling Square into the exercise route during the allowed lockdown restrictions, there’s a sense of normality here. The large space from afar sees a mix of essential workers, open takeaway restaurants and exercising locals making it feel like less of the shell the rest of the city has become recently.

It was nice how I got a seat last night without a booking due to Covid-19, it is difficult to get a seat here. I had only an hour seating time only (starts when you enter), I had to rush to eat and pressure of a staff member reminding how much time I had left. I was given the bill without me being able to use the Instagram story promo of 20% off. I didn't bother to ask since the bill was already given so, I just paid the full amount since the Auvers pancakes and Aurora mocktail was good.
Would like to come back and hopefully not be rushed to eat and use the promo next time.

One of my favourite breakfast spots in darling square. Great coffee and food selection. The miso smashed avocado on toast is a delicious and unique favourote if mine

First place visited since dine out is allowed. The food was amazing as described on the reviews. Strongly recommend foodies!

Auvers is a French village. It is also the name of a popular cafe in Rhodes. And now in Darling Square. In Sydney, one of my favorite cities on earth. It is also the home of one of the most delicious things I've ever consumed. But let's back up. The philosophy at Auvers is simple, the 3 pronged focus is on coffee (to have the best), food (quality ingredients, farmer sourced), and atmosphere (what's good food if the place isn't nice?) They are open daily, serving brunch until late afternoon (yes! daily!), dinner, and also quick grab cafe offerings like pastries and coffee.

This restaurant had a great ambience, with an interesting menu, however we were let down by the aburi pasta as the salmon was off. - overall 3/5

The soft shell crab stood out as it was freshly fried and paired nicely with a salted egg yolk purée - the consistency was a bit pasty rather than creamy however. The creamy rich flavor was balanced out with hints of grape. 4/5

This is probably the only restaurant I’ve been to that serves escargot outside of its shell. The snails were instead nested I’m a bed of broad beans and Brussels sprouts, surrounded with a cream and finished off with crackers. 3/5

We had high hopes for the aburi pasta as it seemed the most unique, however we were greatly disappointed as the salmon was a bit sour. Fortunately the service was excellent and this was not counted towards our final bill. They were also kind enough to offer us desert. A sad disappointment -/5

Absolutely loving all the new restaurants at darling square, and Auvers Cafe has to be one of my favorites.

Not only are all their dishes too pretty to look at, but so delicious as well.

We saw that they had a special dinner that day with was the Marble 5 + Wagyu Sirloin which we absolutely had to order. It did not disappoint at all! Such a good ratio of fatty and lean meat and it was cooked perfectly. Juicy and delicious medium rare perfection.

The other highlight dish for me was their Saffron and Lobster Fried Rice. Such fragrant and flavorful rice and the lobster was absolutely scrumptious.

The drinks here are all so pretty as well. We got the beautiful Aurora Mocktail, the Starry 75 Cocktail which was really refreshing and the Hojicha Latte with an adorable bird latte art.

4/5 aesthetically pleasing and the food were marvellously presented. Auver’s Dining really emphasised and outlined food as being an art. The dishes stood out individually. Not what you would commonly see on menus or presented. If you are feeling adventurous and want to explore new dishes. Yes this is a good place to go. However, personally it did not provide the spark or wow factor that I get when the ingredients really compliment one another. Didn’t have the urge to try more or get to the dessert. The wait for food was very long, may have been because they were busy or maybe the presentation. Overall, I enjoyed dining at the Auver’s Dining, would be looking forward to hearing new promotions.

Probably the best cafe in Sydney. Great tasting and STUNNING instagram worthy food. Would love to try every food on the menu as it all seems to be incredible! Definitely recommend.

Really nice dinning experience! Staff were very friendly! The Mac and Cheese Burger was perfect, wasn't too heavy at all, which was not what I was expecting! Definitely going to return.

Opens early on Sunday morning. We just passed by and decided to try it. Crab Omelette looked like an artwork! It tasted amazing as well! Gado Gado salad was also unique and flavorful!

So excited that there’s now Auvers closer to the city 😍 I’ve been a big fan ever since we discovered them in Rhodes and always keen to try their new creations 😋 Everything was delicious bus especially loved the scrumptious Tokyo Banana French Toast! Plus, how good is that they’re open late?! 🙌🏻

Pancake is harder than I thought, not softie at all. But crab meat croissant is very nice
Hangrylittlelisa
What a great feed! Really interesting new menu, tried the truffle mushroom risotto, clamshell pasta, french toast with custard and black sesame icecream and taro sago - these are in order of my favourites :) Also had the chicken rice and salmon poke bowl but the flavours weren't my cup of tea, a bit bland/random. Great service, good portion sizes, convenient and trendy location.
Thelifeofpaopao
I love the auvers dinner menu! Highly recommend the beef tartare here and the squid ink pasta but everything did not disappoint!!
Wanderlust
Chorizo wrap was served to us cold in the center :( flavors were decent but not great.

Poached chicken sandwich had flavors that were too odd for my palette. It tasted kinda like a tuna sandwich but it was chicken so I thought it was bizarre seasoning. I couldn’t eat it.

Since I didn’t like either of the dishes, we paid and left hungry and went to another restaurant. Very disappointed.

Service was friendly and decor is lovely. We liked the outdoor seating area cuz it felt relaxing.

Creative flavoures cooked with live and care. I hope they keep it consistently good

So glad we got to try the Darling Square cafe before we left Sydney to come back to Melbourne. I was craving for a non coffee latte which I found is harder to find in Sydney but this cafe had all my faves...hojicha, black sesame, taro and matcha lattes.
We ordered a few dishes for lunch plus kids meals and all the dishes were delicious and well presented. I was especially impressed with the kids meals, a nice change from fried food with chips...the kids mushroom risotto was delicious!
The cafe has a great vibe to it and there was a great variety of menu items to choose from.
All in all, it was a great dining experience, a bit on the pricey side but the food was really good and service was warm and friendly.
Mandy
Loving Auvers’ new spot at Darling square! Amazing food and service as usual. Highly recommend!

Another of those places where you are being charged 1% extra for using your bank card. Stop charging your customers for your fees.

There are many vegetarian options for food and drinks. I had lunch set which includes drink, main and tiramisu. Everything was beautiful! I will try their signature pancake for dessert next time ! Highly recommended!

The place is really bright and clean, the waitress was friendly, we had a decent experience here.
Cold brew was good, though it comes in a pretty small glass.
I really enjoy the eggs benedict on croissant, really interesting and tasty. The burger was okay, not special or bad.
Will definitely be back.

A truly aesthetic, sensory experience at one of Sydney's best cafés! I never fail to be impressed by the creativity and innovation at Auvers. If you're visiting for brunch, I'd highly recommend the octopus okonomiyaki - it's the perfect combination of sweet and savoury.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!
Brunonono...
So Darling Square opened for me yesterday, so let’s go and finish what I haven’t tried yet....

So Auvers, yes I’ve been to the one at Rhodes and no I wouldn’t say they’re the same...think someone has upped the plating game not that it was bad but definitely pushing more a restaurant vibe than cafe food.

Okay now the mains, lamb ribs...I love lamb ribs because they are a just tedious to cook! It’s twice cooked or nothing and here I feel we went too far on the cook. It was just dry, all that braised saucy goodness kinda lost from the hard fry. That or they’ve been in the fridge too long...I’ll let the kitchen decide that one. The confit duck, not bad. The execution was much better than the ribs but it still just wasn’t something that I would order again.

Now the sides, yes tartare was a side tonight...probably the best thing with that crackling. The lotus root chips again can’t fail and the spicy mayo dip combo, again can’t go wrong.

There’s a lot of stiff competition nearby so while I’m not gonna say I didn’t enjoy my meal, it’s not high on the will be back list.

Following the success of its first outpost in Rhodes, Auvers moved in the newly developed dining precinct in Darling Square on the edge of the city centre. . We were glad to see some signature dishes from Rhodes also appeared on the menu of the new branch, such as the three tier Matcha Pancakes ($20). Auvers is well known for its choice of premium matcha powder and this is certainly reflected in this pancake as well as matcha latte. The bitterness in matcha was perfectly balanced with the sweet red bean and refreshing raspberry sorbet.

Real rating: 3.5/5
The interior is beautiful decorated with colourful walls. While ambience was very nice, the tables were way too small for us to comfortable eat - our plates had to be placed at the corner of the table in order to fit the dishes on the table so we were sitting at an angle the whole duration of dinner. The pork belly was too tough and the skin wasn’t crispy at all - very disappointing. I would come during the day but not for dinner.

Came for dessert and coffee only.
Blueberry brioche was delish, warm brioche pudding, taro sauce and this vanilla ice cream just spot on.
Of course, good dessert must accompany with good coffee.
My Piccolo was perfect!
From temperature wise, ratio coffee to water and the milk was smooth and creamy!
Everything was on point!

I've been here a several times and I'll keep coming back. Their menu is well thought out. I'd definitely recommend the taro frappe (maybe don't get it with a sweet dish like I did - it became a little overwhelming).

🥞AUVERS' PANCAKES ($20)
Matcha Pancakes, Red Bean Paste, Premium Matcha Glaze, Sponge and Raspberry Sobert

SO STACKED! They were much larger than I expected. I really enjoyed these, it was super filling and was struggling to finish it towards the end. I powered through and finished it though!

🦀CRAB OMELETTE ($20)
With Cheese, Corn, Bonito Mayo and Bruschetta on a Toasted Croissant

This was tasty!

🍞CHEESY FRENCH TOAST ($20)
Brioche, Honey Ricotta Cheese🧀, Caramelised Bacon 🥓, Yuzu Grape Jelly, Caramel Sauce, Pork Floss, Vanilla Ice Cream 🍦

I love auvers but unfortunately the ice cream was already melted so I had to snap a few pics so I could eat. It's ok, it was a busy day and we were seated outside so it was probably sitting for a bit before a waiter could bring it to us. The flavours were incredible though. It's such an unlikely combination with many different textures and flavours. I would never have thought to put pork floss and jelly together.

🍔BEEF BRISKET BURGER ($18)
Slow Cook Beef Brisket, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Beef Mayo on an Indomie 🍜 and Brioche Bun with Chips 🍟

This was underwhelming. My bf said it was too many carbs so it felt really heavy.

We ordered tri colour spaghetti and egg benedict. It has fantastic plating and confirming instagramable experience. While taste bud wise, a little bit plain for my own liking, perhaps just an asian strong taste bud problem, great coffee for sure.

First time visiting the new stylish Darling Square location for dinner. I’ve been to their Rhodes cafe for lunch before and loved it. The dinner menu is refined and presentation is beautiful. We ordered seafood spaghetti, confit duck and the Auvers signature Matcha pancakes for dessert- I highly recommend the seafood pasta with seared seafood on top. They also have cocktails and wine available, I really liked the ‘Sunflower in hand’ which is a mix of sweet, sour and bitter. We had an enjoyable night!

Wow.. I came across this place by accident when visiting darling square for dinner and what a pleasant surprise! The food was French/Asian fusion and the menu was very unique. Every dish we had - the beef tartare, the salmon and the snapper (special) plus sides - were in perfect balance between the two cuisines and between healthy and flavor. Visually, the dishes were all well presented and appear much more expensive that what we paid for (around $100 for two without drinks). We will be visiting again!

The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is that there was an issue with our order and the food was very delayed. Nevertheless the waiters were very friendly and polite so all is forgiven.

Tried the beef burger which was what you'd expect, fries were lovely.
Iced coffee is strongly flavoured, service was friendly and attentive.

Delicious food and coffee. :)

My son couldn’t eat the food, they just said they will tell the chef the food was too salty.

One of my most FAVOURITE eateries in all of Sydney has opened up in the new dining precinct in Darling Square. Auvers 2.0 has the classic favourites of the Rhodes store, but also the scrumptious delights of dinner. The new cafe has the same intimate charm as Rhodes, but with the added finesse on sunflowers, and the artistic inspiration of Van Gogh.

I visited this cafe for lunch and overall the food was okay. The croissant with pork floss and poached eggs was alright and the eggs were not as runny as I hoped. The salmon was nicely cooked but the other ingredients on the dish didn’t go too well together. My favourite though was the spaghetti dish with the black fungus and edemame beans which was nicely flavoured. The coffee was not bad. The service staff were lovely though.

I don't know if it was just my order, but the matcha frappe I received seemed to be made of solely milk and ice. There was absolutely no matcha flavour whatsoever. Disappointing. The food was nice, though.

A new establishment branched from its first Rhodes place. This cafe/restaurant named after the French village Auvers features modern cafe atmosphere with photogenic fine-dining style food. From what I gathered about the Rhodes restaurant their price is certainly no fine dining. Pheeeew.

Regardless this was a grand opening event where the entire Auvers 2.0 menu was presented, attendees get to sample everything. There were simply too much food so I will comment on a few outstanding ones.

Escargot 🐌 , snails with a mayo like thicc dressing on crispy pastry and alfalfa. Creamy and refreshing. I loved the flavor!

Pork belly, 3 chunks of tender pork belly served skinless on potato disks. The potato is mushy and meat not too fatty. Very enjoyable dish with not much guilt. Comes with apple chutney.

Beef taretare, raw marinated beef cubes with raw yolk. I wanted to try this Korean dish long ago and finally I get to taste it (no one would eat raw beef with me). Savory and full protein indulgence. 👍🏿

Chicken roulade, I think it was confit chicken with couscous. The chicken was so tender the texture highlighted the true chicken flavor. Reminded me of well roasted Brazilian BBQ chicken. Recommend!

A quick mention of matcha pancakes, they are very spongy and nothing like the pancake you remember. Eat them like the yellow sponge they are served with and you should be fine!

Now things they could improve upon. I feel the arancini lacked flavor and the interior consistency was too mushy. The cured meat plate had quite dry meat. A number of the mains like french toast were very sweet and really should be desserts. Speaking of desserts, the pandan ice cream was really hard to crack. Matcha and sesame latte were fine but a bit too sugary. I really liked the sunflower 🌻 in hand 🤚 cocktail but other ones were acquired tastes for me.

This place is opening til quite late in the evening among all other new restaurants opening on the newly expanded Darling Square. Really appreciate the Auvers cafe hosts for inviting Xihuahua 🐶 and me for such a lovely night meeting fellows foodies and sharing great food!
