Came here for a quick takeaway breakfast as I've passed the cafe for few times to take a bus without any expectation. Turns out this cafe exceed my expectation! I ordered latte and toasted almond croissant. The latte is good, i like the milk texture toođź‘Ś
as for croissant, it was a huge portion of a croissant but it taste good as well! The filling inside the croissant is nice.

Really great coffee -- beans from St ALi Melbourne. But please don't ruin it with substandard service. Chucking my takeaway coffee on the counter without even calling out my name really does not constitute "service". You can even call out my order instead of my name, I don't really mind. Would have been a 5-star review otherwise.
Came here with my Indian colleague who is a Chai tea connoisseur and we were impressed with how they made the Chai tea here. We were worried they'd use a teabag but they sure did not!
The food is to die for and the service is AMAZING! I grab my coffee and dine here everyday, and the team are so warm and friendly that I feel like part of the family. The food is really tasty, and they have a really diverse menu that always leaves me with the feeling "what should I try next?".Â
I highly recommend the Zucchini Corn Fritters and the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich, oh and of course the coffee!
Great restaurant to select for a lunch with friends or even work meeting. Nook offers a wide variety of fresh salad and healthy dishes. We have tried the grilled halloumi, chicken mushroom, zucchini noodle and the super brekkie bowl (all day breakfast- YES). There is indoor and outdoor sitting options depending on how you feeling and the service is great and fast.
I used to go there for coffee or lunch when I worked in the city. Their sandwiches, juices and table menus are pretty good - they cover all kinds of food. I used to like to order two different kinds of fresh salads for my quick & healthy lunch! It’s a very popular place for lunch!
I really love the food at this place, especially the haloumi stack. I have taken a point off because the service here is atrocious. This place gets really popular at lunch time because it is surrounded by office buildings but the main reason everyone comes here is the food!
One of my favourite healthy food cafes in the city! Can always count on them delivering fresh food thats both tasty and filling. Tbh the serving sides are really huge! Coffee is also delish, just all round delivers!
I went to Nook with the recommendations from my friends. At first, I didn't know what to order as it looked basic. However, the detailed ingredients of every sandwich are worth taking a note. I ended up ordering the pulled beef sandwich in a pita wrap and their quality of meat was exceptional. The beef was tender and the onion relish with aioli sauce made a perfect compliment to the sandwich.  Could not have asked for a better first-time experience which is very rare in my case. Definitely worth a visit for lunchtime and coffee breaks.
Nice food, ordered poach eggs + haloumi on sourdough. Eggs were beautifully made, taste awesome. They can improve the service and hygiene on tab water cups to make this place better. But I brought my own bottle, so no issue with this. Will come back again n hope they'll open during weekends one day
Great cafe that provides a good variety from gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads, fresh juice, smoothies breakfast and lunch dishes. The smoothie I had was great acai, coconut, banana & I added peanut butter. Winner!! Kale breakfast bowl also good, the side of sweet potato fries was the genius decision though. One suggestion, stop using plastic straws and move to bamboo thank you.
Great venue with positive approach to food and drinks. Ingot a salted choc chip cookie and skim latte, but I've saved the banana cakes in memory for my next visit.
Been here a couple of times for coffee and both times didn't disappoint. Tried the quinoa porridge today and although delicious, it was too sweet for my liking. Great ingredients and good portion size but needed something to counteract the sweetness. Apart from that, thumbs up.
This is located on Hunter Street. I had walked past this place a few times and decided to drop in to get some takeaway lunch. It was quite busy when I got here and wasn't sure where to order as there was a queue for at the coffee machine but didn't know where to order food until another lady lined up near the tablet and credit card machine. Service is nice.
They had a range of sandwiches, hot food, and salads available for lunch. I got drawn in by the summer special of Wild Pork so went with that. It didn't look the prettiest at first but definitely tasted really good. The pulled pork was spicy for my taste however the poached egg and fennel purée tempered the heat which was lovely. The roasted potatoes complemented the dish. The buckwheat and wild rice gave a nice crunch.
One of the better ones I have come across lately in the CBD. Loads of seating indoors and out, both on the street and undercover.
Service was good and the breakfast generous and tasty. I had the haloumi stack. Haloumi was good. Not salty or a piece of rubber and the pesto on the sour dough add nicely to the overall flavours. Good poached egg effort also.
Pretty extensive breakfast menu too so I'll be back after I try the one a little further up the street.
I didn't like the coffee as a long black as I found it bitter but the second, a strong flat white was better.
Nice spot behind Wynyard station. My skim cap was delicious, with a good body and flavour. The quinoa porridge was a beautiful little bowl of goodness. An assortment of nuts and dried fruit were folded through the quinoa and oats mixture. A crown of fresh figs and rich mascarpone made the virtous dish a little more indulgent. Prices at Nook are on the higher side especially given the serving sizes but it was a nice treat on a dreary Monday.

It's always fun trying different coffees from different roasters in one place. Basically Nook offers their house coffee from Sensory Lab (based in Melbourne) as well as Showcase coffees from everywhere in the world. Didn't expect Melbourne roasts in Sydney but found it here. Pretty good coffee and fantastic caramel cronut. Nice bit of table outside but there's construction nearby so bit loud at the moment.
All 4 points relate to its chicken club. A bit pricy (read: reasonable in city lunch terms) but definitely worth it. Huge fat sandwich that fills you up and more. Made to order and fresh.
Definitely recommend and bring cash (they accept card but cash is easier line)
This was the first place I went to eat at when I visited Sydney, and the first thing I noticed was the adorable striped water cups. Compared to the other breakfast places in the CBD, this place had great range. I had the yogurt and muesli, and they did not skimp on the fruit, much to my delight. I also ordered a green tea, which came in a beautiful gothic tea kettle, which even though it didn't exactly match the cuteness of the rest of the designs, it was still gorgeous. We ate outside, but I could see the inside seating area looked very pleasant, with lots of potted plants and flowers. I was very happy with this place.
What an amazing experience! I booked an hour before our arrival for a group table and was received with our group name on a lovely chalk board on our table. Staff was very helpful with the menu and their service. I had the eggs Benedict and it is definitely on my top 3!
The Haloumi stack took my breath away. Just like the price for the portion, but not in a good kind of way. But I guess thats just the CBD. Â The simple dish was done well, tasted fresh with its quirky lemon Aioli sauce and was all well accompanied by a warm farm like interior. Service was great and prompt!
Came here for my birthday last week and it absolutely surpassed my expectations! I ordered the Haloumi Stack while my friend got a Chicken Schnitzel sandwich. Food came out fairly quickly, and tasted amazing! The portions were massive and needless to say, tasted absolutely amazing. I finished it all, and it definitely filled me up. My friend's sandwich was also quite large, and she could only finish half of it. The construction is a bit annoying, but the goodness of the food just makes it all better! Honestly one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, I would highly recommend this place!
Probably one of the best breakfasts I've had in my short stay in Australia. A good 30 minute walk from Central Station (really helps you work up an appetite), Nook is a nice restaurant with a wide range of breakfast, lunch, fresh fruit juice and coffee options.Â
I had the classic Benny, while my friends enjoyed the Halloumi Stack and the Ocean Trout Gravlax. As our last breakfast in Sydney, this was a fitting farewell, our waitress was extremely patient with us while we took over 15 minutes to decide what to get (more time than it took to actually finish our food).Â
With no complaints food wise, there was some construction going on the day we ate there, which made it quite difficult to sustain conversation or enjoy the delicious breakfast, but this has nothing to do with Nook, so they can't be blamed. I'd still go there, regardless of the noise.
Haloumi Lovers, get yourself to Nook ASAP! Big fan of this place as soon as I saw the menu - multiple items with haloumi and pulled pork. To make it even better, their fresh chai brew, served with honey in Japanese sake and tea style cups, was delicious - no chai latte syrup or powders in sight. Yum!
I only ever have good things to say about Nook. Â I have never ever had a bad experience at Nook, and I've been there 3 times. Â The first time I came, it was after I found this place after looking online to find "healthy cafes in the CBD", with high protein options. Â
The range of dishes is amazing, and they cater for pretty much every dietary choice and requirement out there. And to find a high protein healthy meal option in the CBD this good!! That really made my day. Â The interior is fancy-cafe-style, and the folks here really know their coffee. Â They also sell different gourmet roasted coffee beans. Â
You can also buy takeaway meals such as sandwiches and salads from here, and of course, don't forget to try their coffee!
Yes they get really busy during lunch hours from 12-2, but that is truly a testament to the quality of food and service provided at Nook Urban Fresh Bar.

Nook Urban Fresh Bar is a cafe that M told me about, but I prematurely wrote off as being too healthy for me until I realised that the menu was actually quite delicious. Unfortunately, being in the heart of the business district, it is only open on weekdays to cater to the corporate kind, which meant that there was nary a chance to visit. That is, until Christmas shutdown, when I caught up with C on a weekday.
We arrived and took a seat at one of the benches outside whilst trying to figure out whether there was table service or if we had to order from the counter. Answer: there is table service, although it was quite slow and took some time for a waitress to bring us menus.
The menu is a mixture of classics and Nook specialties, made healthier with the addition of plentiful vegies and quinoa to dishes. The bacon speck piqued my interest, not being familiar with the cut. I figured it must be alright if it was made from bacon so I ordered it whilst C opted for a fail-safe haloumi stack.
"Woah." That was my first reaction when the dish was brought out. "That is a lot of fat" was my second reaction. According to Wikipedia, I shouldn't have been surprised if I knew what speck actually is: "speck is an English word meaning 'fat' or 'blubber'". That would explain a lot. So how was the dish? Very fatty. There was barely any meat - the speck was true to its word. Unfortunately, I am not a huge fan of fat and tend to cut it off my meat, which meant that I found the speck overwhelming. The grease and hollandaise didn't help, making the speck seem even fattier than it was. I also found the bitter taste of witlof a bit jarring against the speck and overall struggled to finish the dish. I almost wish that I had ordered the haloumi stack - boring, but a fail-safe. I wouldn't necessary advise against ordering the speck as it may appeal to certain palates but just be sure that you will enjoy it firstly.
My smoothie, on the other hand, was tasty and served in a hipster mason jar. There is a fair drinks list to select from, including a Snickers shake that I was sorely tempted to try - it was even cheaper than my healthy smoothie! The cafe is also licensed so you can have a beer or glass of wine with your lunch if you so please.
Overall, Nook Urban Fresh Bar is a decent lunch spot in the city for a sit-down lunch with colleagues (it got quite busy around lunch hour with suits) or for a quick take-away bite as there are some delectable-sounding sandwiches and burgers on the menu to try.
Came here for lunch today, the last time I had dined here was a year ago. It was an unpleasant surprise to find that the lunch menu had changed and that the cafe is no longer serving a la carte style dishes.
The menu when I came yesterday featured simple, healthy sounding dishes. My friend and I had the 'chicken & fig' and 'mushroom bruschetta'. The food took about 20 minutes to be served, and everything tasted pleasant and light, but lacked the wow-factor that the dishes had the first time I came. Decent pricing and usually very busy at lunch time. Despite my disappointment with the simplification of the menu, the food is always fresh and delicious, and is a good place to have a weekday lunch.
Generally, the food and drinks were good. The eggs benedict come with large portions with spinach and bacon so be sure to ask for less if you're not a major fan. The Panini was simple but made well as was the bruschetta.
For a quick but satisfying work lunch, we stopped by Nook Urban Fresh Bar, conveniently located a very short stroll from Wynyard Station! I decided to have the Grilled Halloumi Stack, which had grilled halloumi, avocado, grilled tomato, rocket, fresh basil pesto, and two perfectly poached eggs, along with some lemon aioli, and quinoa on sourdough. The halloumi was very nicely grilled and not too salty, and the bread was really fresh, which complemented the green and organic elements of the dish. The only thing I didn’t like was the basil pesto, as it was a bit too strong for my personal taste, but otherwise it was an amazing dish, and one that I’d order again!

Went in the morning in the midst of the wynyard bustle and it was a nice urban escape from the crowd and traffic. Great to have an indoor seating area in the office building next door, nicely decorated with cute jars and tableware. Service was friendly and they regularly came over to check that we were happy with everything. A very interesting menu (would be curious to visit for lunch next time to try one of the burgers or sandwiches). We had breakfast: Benny Soldiers and Haloumi Stack. Neatly presented and a good portion for the price, although it would've been a full thumbs up if the poached eggs were runny and warm. Keep working at it !
Stopped by for lunch today. Chicken schnitzel looked good on the menu: home slaw, aloi and thin fries. Massive piece of chicken. Friends had the Pork Nap and haloumi stack with chicken. All of us were very satisfied. Will need to go back to try their coffee.
As I discovered during my internship season of Summer 2014-2015, Sydney’s CBD (unlike surrounding suburbs such as Surry Hills, Glebe and Newtown) is quite lacking in quaint cafés with vintage vibes and hipster food. So, when I stumbled upon Nook Urban Fresh Bar on our way to work one morning, I knew I had found our new favourite lunch spot.
The coffee was delicious. If you're a coffee connoisseur, this is one of the places Sydney has to offer, which you have to check out. With over three premium types of coffee beans on offer, all are taken care of. Because it's so popular, and so fast moving, presentation can lack a little. Whilst this is completely irrelevant to taste, eyes (and visualisation of meals/experiences) are half the enjoyment, and there was no coffee art with this one. So that was a slight let down.
In saying that, I'd still be back.

Tried this cafe out near work for lunch a couple of days ago and went for the Ocean Trout Gravlax - the combination of the individual flavours were amazing and perfectly complemented one another. Â The organic tea was also a great drink to go with my food on a warm day. Â We also tried the Wagyu beef pork buns but I found them average compared to all the others baos I have had. Â They also have fresh donuts and cronuts which looked very tempting but I decided not to try in the end.
Came back and tried the pork tower and the salmon cake - very delicious!
I've had coffee here so many times in the past but today tried lunch and it was pretty good. I had the Bittersweet Lamb Salad which was yummy with the pomegranate, lamb, radicchio and grapefruit.
Always a pleasure to drop by for a coffee and bite whenever I am this way. Must commend the staff for keeping up with the amount of people that dine at this place. The cafe has different areas of seating, so if you let them know you're there and have a bit of patience (especially during weekday lunches), they'll look after you. Coffee options are great, food also plenty. Always send anyone I know working in Wynyard this way for caffeine. They use sensory lab's seamless blend as their house and rotate through different roasters on two other grinders. Also do cold drips and pour overs if you like your filter.
Absolutely love Nook! First choice for a quick delicious lunch in the cbd!! Salads are beautiful and the sandwiches are big and filling! Had a Rubén today and it was superb. You do have to battle the lines but well worth it!
Great food and quality ingredients. Salads are great, sandwiches are full and gorgeous treats on offer. Have yet to try the coffee but seeing the other reviews, I'm sure I won't be disappointed

Nook is an apt name, a little haven amongst the bus and foot traffic. Coffee is strong and smooth. Staff are absolutely lovely and efficient to boot. Love the decor . Will come back for lunch, the 3 takeaway breakfast options were not for me.
Nook is one of those deceptive cafes that look small at first sight but then reveal hidden spaces as you explore within. The vibe of this cafe is all about fresh healthy back to the earth, a refreshing change in the middle of the CBD. The space is very well designed, with areas that are suitable for solo diners through to groups, and a variety of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a kalicious smoothie, which was undoubtedly healthy but a little dull taste wise. More mint, more ginger would have provided some zing. It also took a long time to be prepared, perhaps because the kitchen staff were focused on preparing food for the day ahead. The coffee line seemed to be turning over fine, and with sensory lab as the roaster, would be worth a try.
Always good food and they have great variety but the service is terrible. They always get orders wrong and are very slow.
Bypass the table service and get lunch from the sandwich and salad bar. You'll get to eat faster.
I love Nook! Staff are lovely, the set up is gorgeous and rustic, it's bustling and busy but time efficiency is obviously still a priority to them which is great. I had the zucchini noodle salad and I'm considering going to get some takeaway lunch from them again today. Not to mention their cronuts are phenomenal - I bought 4 and brought them back to the office for an afternoon treat for everyone and they were gone in seconds.
Seriously yummy and interesting breakfasts served here! Definitely get in early as they're often booked out for lunches with local business people. The combination of flavours are really vibrant and keep you wanting more. Would definitely recommend this place!
Came here for work lunch. Service was quick and food came quite fast too. $15 for a club sandwich plus $3 for a side of chips, $16 chicken schnitzel, and the portions were quite generous.
I had a pork sandwich there. I must say that it was one of the better sandwiches I have had lately. The produce used was very fresh and the flavours of the filling within the sandwich were very intriguing. I loved the presentation of their dishes. Even something as simple as their fat free yogurt with muesli was visually appealing. The staff was friendly too. Overall a great experience and I would definately visit this cafe again.
Nook is a firm favourite for us city folk. Especially during a busy weekday, most of the time you can get a pretty good table. It has a great mix of both healthy and naughty (chicken schnitzel is delish) as is the trout and quinoa salad.

#kningjaeats delicious haloumi stack. I really have no words for how yummy this was. There was so much flavour and simply a mountain of deliciousness! I added bacon (of course) which gave an extra punch complemented with a substantial jar of refreshing green juice. Definitely will be back.
Chicken & Kale Rotolo – stuffed chicken breast, quinoa, kale, mushrooms, pine nuts, enoki fries, leek sauce I was quite impressed by the chicken dish,the tender chicken is served alongside a delicious leek sauce and two types of mushrooms. The kale wasn’t overpowering as I first expected at all which was a big plus because I tend to be disappointed by kale which overpowers the rest of most dishes.

This has got to be one of the best cafe finds for me this year. Close to Wynyard station, and about a 10 minute walk from Town Hall.  Sexy mason jar. Iced coffee ($5) with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream that actually tastes like vanilla ice-cream! (I usually steer away from iced coffee at most places because of the grainy-icy bland no-frills ice-cream they use.) Pour over V60 coffee, served with soy milk, ($5) .  Exotic Puerto Rican coffee blend to produce a subdued raspberry taste. Grilled haloumi stack ($15)  - grilled haloumi, avcado, fgrilled heirloon tomatoes, rocket, fresh basil, pesto, topped with poached eggs , meon aioli and organic quinoa on organic sourdough.  Part of the all-day brekky menu Grilled haloumi.  Enough said. Went there yesterday... So impressed (again). Fast, fresh and very tasty. Smoked salmon wrap filled with thick fresh slices of salmon, creamy dressing. Haloumi stack also fantastic as was mushroom dish.

Great salads. I had lunch here the other day and it was great to see this funky fresh restaurant tucked between the big office buildings. I usually find this part of the city quite boring however Nook seemed to liven the area up. I ordered the salmon salad with poached egg which was one of the best salads I have had before. I can't wait to try all the others. The only downside was that it took the staff quite sometime to take our order. Not so bad for me as I had a day off however as my wife was on her lunch break it would have been nice to get our order out straight away. Food also took sometime to come out however when it did come out it was all worth it. Our meals had very fresh ingredients and had a great combination of different flavors.
