Review Little Growling Cafe - Tarneit

Carly S
Enjoyed our meal, burgers had a lot of sauce which I really like! Very busy day so there was a wait for food but that was ok, kids explored the play area which is a little dated but still fun. Some of our meal items were forgotten and adjustments (e.g no onion on burger) forgotten but all in all a really friendly family atmosphere and very kind staff who did apologise for the busy day and errors.

This place never disappoints us and always have something different. Tried almost everything on their menu including their Mumbai toasty.. very good, special mention to pistachio raspberry croissant which we tried today, loved it!

Great inclosed little cafe and park. Unfortunately every time we are there the outside park is full of rubbish and the bins are overflowing. But the coffee is always great and the staff are lovely 😊

Small Cafe, we were lucky to get a seat for a quick coffee on a busy Sunday morning. Very nice coffee. Didn't order food but everything we saw on other tables looked great so looking to come back for food some time

Recently I ordered two grazing boxes from the Tarneit store for my son's birthday. We got chicken sliders and cold veg sandwiches. They were so delicious and the presentation was very pretty and most of all clean and neat. The sliders were a hit even my husband complimented them (p.s. he is someone who rarely compliments on food). The girl I dealt with made the process so easy for me with prompt responses both via phone calls and emails. I have dined in at this store too and must also say that it is such a little gem in the west that you must visit if you want to enjoy a cuppa and a good meal with a good view out the back too. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to others :)

Sat outside to start in the streaming sunshine to enjoy drinks and snacks then moved inside for lunch. Table and coffee service very quick and manager constantly asking if we needed anything extra. We appreciated the friendly staff and management attentiveness. The coffee was the. Est coffee I ever had and a large choice of reasonably priced beautiful meal from an very adequate menu. Situated with a great view over and the best park that the kids can play for every age group, growing cafe is the perfect venue to catch up with friends..

This lovely little cafĂŠ is a true hidden little gem. Beautiful surrounds and great park for children however it is the service and locally produced food and onsite baking that ticks all the boxes for me. Great selections to choose from and the staff are lovely. This place won't be a hidden gem for long!

30 mins for vegemite toast.!!! After seeing the high reviews, my partner and I thought we would check out this cafe. Really disappointed we were. After ordering 2 coffee a breakfast burger and vegemite toast. We took a seat and waited for our order. Coffee ended up coming out, so all was going well. Then disaster occurred. About 20 mins after we had ordered I finally got my breakfast burger, that wasn’t too appetising. After they gave me the burger the said won’t be too much longer for the toast. I ended up finishing the burger, and my partner still waiting for the toast, we decided to wait a further 5 mins. Still, No vegemite toast, seriously about 30 mins and no toast. In addition also no water for the table, I’m Not sure if we had to ask for some but we seen other people have water on their table, so wasn’t sure what was going on here. Really disappointed here so we decided to get up a leave. While leaving, it could have been the owner or one of the workers making coffee said “have a great day”, that really topped it off. Walked outside and another waiter greeted us off, I told him we didn’t receive our toast after waiting more than 20 mins and that waiting more than 20 mins for toast, we pretty bad. At first there was no apology, he said t should be ready now, (about 5-10 mins after I had finished my burger) We had places to go, so we couldn’t stay any longer. He then persisted and said that the kitchen is very small hence why the orders came out at different times. I felt like he was making excuses for their lack of organisation. He then continued saying that the way the chef works he cooks all the egg and bacon once, then he moves onto other things. From my knowledge I thought they are meant to prepare the food per table/order not per type of food or whatever. After I laughed that off, he finally apologised, after seeing I was still upset over the situation. In the end it was toast, so there shouldn’t be any excuse over that. When paying for food at a cafe, I believe I am paying not only for the food but for the service Here I got half my food and terrible service, no refund offered as well. It looks like they had good business, so it probably didn’t matter one person not being satisfied, so I thought I’d share this review. Definitely not going back, very very poor.

This little cafe is a jewel in the west. We bought our children here today for a play whilst we had a tea/coffee catchup... it turned into 3+ hour visit! After 2 pots of steaming hot tea, 2 delicious Turkish coffees (that come with this beautiful piece of Turkish sweet delight we also stayed for lunch. The menu is good and not complicated. We ordered toasted sandwiches with milkshakes & us mummies had yummy Mediterranean toasted sandwiches & I think the best pumpkin soup I might hv ever had. The prices are so very reasonable & the food great. It was terrific service too & the only time we saw the kids was to eat. One came back for seconds! The cafe could be bigger! Considering the pricing is so good it would be nice to see patrons move off a table after they have enjoyed their coffee if not ordering anymore to make room for more hungry customers!!

After being recommended by a friend to come here, it's my new favourite place in the west. Came in for breakfast this morning. Firstly the coffee is amazing and fresh that I just had to have another. I have looked everywhere for great tasting coffee in the west and I have found it. Amazing service, food and friendly staff. 10/10 from me. Thank you.

It's handy that this cafe is walking distance from my house but it's even better that the coffee, the service and the food is just spectacular! If you need a new local fave then look no further! Ad and the team make this little wee spot the best place in Tarneit!

A lovely and warm atmosphere (literally - even though it's winter, with the big windows the sun comes shining in and warms your bones). I had a chai latte and the vitamin 3 Jar - absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. The staff are very friendly, too!

I was very surprised to find a cafe that is tucked away like a little oasis and has coffee of this quality that accompanies great food and service. I have had 4 coffees at LGC and the quality was consistent. It is easy to see that Adnan is passionate about his coffee and his food. He treats his coffee machine like a brand new Cadillac. It is very rare these days to find coffee that is of this quality and is exactly the same across all 3 cup sizes. The layout is great as it is set in the midst of a playground that is great for Mums, Dads and kids. I will definitely be back. Well done LGC.

Great indoor/outdoor balance. While the kids enjoyed the playground we enjoyed good coffee (with Bonsoy) and the Inside Out cheese toasties. Kids came in for water and nice choc milkshakes and loved them. Highly recommended for a local spot to hang on a Saturday morning.

Very lovely afternoon with very friendly staff best coffee I’ve had in a long time

Warmed up with a delish mushroom soup, beautiful coffee and a bacon and egg brioche bun. Service was amazing, price reasonable too! We were able to enjoy a bite while watching our 2.5 toddler while he explored outside. Delish & thankyou! We will return

I attended an event for Little Growlings 3rd birthday celebration. It was well organised and featured their whole menu. I sampled a large range of dishes and they were absolutely delicious. The friendliness from the owner and rest of the team was very welcoming too.<br/>The offerings for children are an absolute stand out too. The playground outdoors is a large hit (and enclosed), but the cafe offerings are fantastic with a dedicated books and colouring station too.<br/>I absolutely highly recommend a visit to Little Growling Cafe. They tick all the boxes when dining out with friends or family.

This is such a lovely cafe that is very children and family friendly, especially due to the playground right outside the cafe. The interior is very inviting and a relaxing place to chill out and enjoy some coffee and brunch.<br/><br/>I was lucky enough to be a part of their birthday celebration for reaching 3 years so they provided a fantastic spread. Started off with some coffees which were on point then there was a huge variety of milkshake flavours which were sweet and colourful. Definitely was attracted to all the pastries, muffins and sweets which looked and tasted great. Then we had a collection of sandwiches which were so tasty, my favourite being the pesto chicken and curry filling. Food continued with breakfast dishes of pancakes, smashed avocado, chicken and halloumi salad, four different types of burgers served with fries. Honestly can't fault anything about this place as they clearly put in the effort to present their food and drinks well while also incorporating simple but also delicious flavours. <br/><br/>Even though this cafe isn't local to me it is definitely worth the drive.

Growling cafe has really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The food is varied with plenty of healthy brunch options as well as muffins cookies and pancakes!<br/><br/>I enjoyed the avo smash and the eggs were poached really well.<br/><br/>It’s a great place to take the kids as there is a massive playground!

This cafe is extremely wholesome and clean! The people and staff are so friendly and the food presentation is super on point! We ordered a variety of dishes! Everything was packed with flavour, delicately and carefully cooked! It was a fab experience! Highly recommend

Invited to breakfast, Little Growling cafe is a humble cafe with an amazing playground for children. The cafe is spacious, lit with lots of natural light and has indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is simple but done well. We tried a cheese toastie, avo smash and the growling breakfast. They couldn't do poached eggs on the day we visited so we were offered fried instead. Good alternative however one of the eggs was a tad over cooked (not a big thing). My daughter had a blast running and playing around the playground.<br/>Would definitely recommend this place if you have little ones.

Fantastic little place we go once a week during the day <br/>Great food tea coffee fabulously friendly owners. Our favourite place. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is the perfect place to take kids plenty of room for them to play and a really good kids menu.<br/><br/>Having said that the adult meals are really yummy too the pancakes were fluffy and the little growler salad with fruit and goats cheese was a perfect combination.<br/><br/>Totally worth the drive I would also recommend trying the extravagant toasties.

This place is located within a lands sales centre and it may be hard to locate at first. But it was totally worth it. Definitely an amazing place to go for breakfast or brunch. Their toasties are amazing and so are the shakes. <br/>We tried the modern family toastie, chicken burger and salad. Their shoe string fries are also crispy and delish. Their rochers monster shake is really monstrous.<br/>They have an external kids play area and is family friendly. Would definitely recommend this place.<br/>They also offer catering and party/functions offering.

We are pretty lucky to have this cafe in our backyard...<br/>Have had many coffees here but today stayed for breakfast and it did not disappoint. The toastie was delicious as were the overnight oats. Staff are always super friendly.<br/>Very child friendly cafe too.

Good cafe opening onto an amazing playground. There was room inside for us but on a busy day you could still grab takeaways & sit on the lawn. <br/>Babychino was extravagantly decorated. Coloured sprinkles & crazy marshmallow might be better suited to older kids. Bit too much for my little one, the usual chocolate powder on top is enough of a treat. <br/>Biscuit with the latte was a nice touch but latte was milky & could have been stronger. <br/>The Modern Family toastie was good. <br/>You have to order at the counter. I ordered an OJ and was just given the plastic bottle. If I’m paying a premium to sit in a cafe and consume a bottled beverage it should at least be served in a glass. I asked for a glass with ice. I was given a hot glass with 4 ice cubes. I mentioned the glass was hot and staff member told me it had come straight out of the dishwasher. Firstly, it’s a safety hazard because it was scolding hot. <br/>Secondly, what’s the point of putting ice & a cold beverage in a scolding hot glass? It’s not going to keep the drink cold. <br/>No attempt by staff member to fix the issue, he just shrugged at me. So I tipped the ice into a room temp glass sitting next to the self serve water bottles. <br/>Great things came from the kitchen, front of house could improve a lot.

We have been here lots of times. A good cafe in Tarneit with a very simple menu. It’s a perfect spot to bring your kids as they have a play area. Coffee is really good!

I have been here many times staff are very friendly, coffee was good. Very good cafe for kids lots of menu choices not just the standards. Very big park outside. Loved the toasties. I have also been here for kids partys noce large tables for the kids

Liked the morning sun and open spaces outside the cafe. Great for kids. Food was nice & simple, no fuss. <br/>Though I felt that balance on plate should be maintained eg. one egg with two toasts felt a bit less. However the Brekky Jar was refreshing and delightful.

A lovely little cafÊ with a pretty spectacular playground. Staff were lovely and friendly, chai latte was delicious. Kids could come and go from playground as they pleased. The menu could be a little more extensive  but the kids seemed happy with a choice of toasties or nuggets and shoestring fries. The milkshakes came in cute little milk bottles. My only beef would be the Greek salad I ordered - no olives (can't be a Greek salad without Kalamata olives!) no haloumi (as was listed on the menu) a slither of mushy tomato and mostly lettuce. A little more work on the salads and menu and this place would be an easy five stars.

I was very surprised to find a cafe that is tucked away like a little oasis and has coffee of this quality that accompanies great food and service. I had the Mumbai Toastie which was spicy with a triple cheesy centre with a crunchy outer and was awesome. I have also had a great chicken burger as well. My partner was catered for even though she required Gluten Free.<br/>I have had 12 coffees at LGC and the quality was consistent. The coffee was hot and strong without a hint of bitterness.

Lovely coffee, great toasties. <br/>A perfect place for families to come and have breakfast. <br/>Staff friendly and busy running around. <br/>Tables are a little close together and wait times for food and coffee were a bit long, but overall a nice family kid friendly cafe.
West Of Melbourne
Little Growling Cafe has an extensive, enclosed outdoor playground. In fact, the super tall double slide is probably the first thing that you’ll notice when you arrive. While toddlers are entertained outdoors there are plenty of high chairs and space for prams indoors. There is plenty of parking and there are a couple of bike racks if you are planning to ride.
Plant Based Mum
This little cafe is an absolute gem out West. There is a fantastic enclosed playground - which means mum and dad can sit back and enjoy their coffee while their little ones play their hearts out on the playground. @plantbasedmum_

A nice relaxing place to hangout for family function. A small Cafe attached with a outdoor playground. Small menu with good taste of food (although kindly wierd for me to have supermarket chips served as side instead of real fried chips). Service was good and friendly with good variaties of drinks offered.

Great place for the kids to play and great coffee, however some people at my table weren’t happy with their ‘chips’ and their chicken nuggets are horrible. I seen them take them out of a pie warmer....

This is a new cafe in the west and is very child friendly, it has a huge playground outside. They don’t have a lot of options when it comes to food, just a few bakery items and sandwiches etc on the menu. The coffee is great though. The staff is very polite and the service is quick.

A nice little cafe that is family friendly. Enjoyed a lovely lunch there on a weekend and the staff were really polite. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Has a children's playground outside and you can eat outside on a warm day.

Day of visit: Weekend.Average amount of seating for around 20-25 people.<br/>Service: Somewhat amateurish with difficulties processing the order.  Food came out (three orders within 15 mins).<br/>Menu choice: Nothing exciting and basic.<br/>Food quality: reasonable, eatable, nothing stand out. Toasted ham cheese sandwich was super crunchy - which wasn't good.<br/>Cost: Food sizing small and cost high in comparison.<br/>Good things: Play area for children.<br/><br/>Where could they improve: More kid friendly food such as hotdogs, small pies/sausage rolls, chips - that are cut effective, quick, fast.   More adult food options.<br/><br/>Overall: Average place, with a kids playground.   They are sitting on great potential in an area that has nothing and could capitalise quite well if they saw the light.
Eat West
I’m not a fan of cafe’s with children’s play areas inside.  For toddlers, yes, they are a great idea so that tired parents can put their child down and enjoy a coffee.  But those cafes and restaurants with huge indoor play areas where school kids scream around between tables, slam doors and generally make the enjoying of coffee impossible for everyone? No thanks!  But there’s hope for all parents yet – because Little Growling Cafe in Tarneit may have just created the PERFECT family brunching spot!!

Not bad little cafe next to a nice playground...food was nice & coffee was very nice...had the chicken brioche burger which was nice & kids had the nugget meal...was surprised to get plain potato chips with nuggets but it went well...my wife however didn't think it worked...all in all a good place to takes the family as there is plenty for the kids to do..
