Visited in early July 2022 and fortunate that the restaurant was open. Had stir fried vegetable udon and beer battered flathead. Both were delicious. Thanks Angie for the great service.

Nice secluded place in the middle of tassy. Good food and good clean accommodation providid. Prices is in the mid range on food and liquor prices in the bar is in my book a little steep.

Food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Could not fault the place. Even the kids finished their meals!

Very disappointing stay, after staying here prior. Rooms was very dusty, smelt mouldy and run down. I understand that COVID has impacted us all, I'm a business owner too. However, if tourists have decided to travel to support the towns. Do the decent thing and make sure the room is worth their stay. Why wasn't the restaurant open? Advising the day before by email that the restaurant will be closed is not good enough, especially when there are no other places to eat in town. "Get something on the way" is what we were advised to do. No much fun after travelling for 24hrs to get here. No suggestions or directions to "grab" something, remembering we're tourists. A little hamper of sandwiches would have been sufficient. Grounds are impeccably beautiful. Filled with native fauna and flora. We came back to see the animals, which again didn't disappoint. It was the humans that let us down.. To again have a meal at the restuarant; which left an impression on us last visit. Very gutted. Sad way to start the trip.

Located on the Tarraleah Estate where my wife and I stayed for 2 great nights. The Highlander Arms has limited options of food due to remoteness of location, and apart from summer months it's usually quiet. Bookings are highly recommended. Very friendly, polite staff. Dinner - black rice stir fry aswell as fish & chips were both really tasty. The fish was Tasmanian travalla which was beautifully crumbed and cooked perfectly. Dessert - pana cotta & creme brulee. Both excellent, the creme brulee was absolutely perfect! 1 or 2 more choices of food would have been great, however, the food was beautifully presented and really tasty, we thoroughly enjoyed them and thought they were really well priced for the quality. Therefore 5 stars as there was nothing that we could fault and we left extremely happy. I think they may close for 4 months over winter.

Bookings essential I ordered the Flathead but it was dry and tasteless In retrospect probably should stick to the ruling that if it’s not grown in the area it may not be top quality. 2 other meals ordered were Penne Neapolitian and A Chicken parmagana. Both were excellently presented and tasty. All dishes were served with Chips and Salad both fantastic salad was fresh and tasty chips crunchy and really good

Tasty food and great atmosphere. It's the only place that serves dinner in Tarraleah! We ordered the black rice stir fry and a scotch fillet, yummy!

Out of the way but very nice pub for food and drink. Slightly limited menu but everything made fresh and very tasty. If you are anywhere near then eat here recommended.
