Words cannot explain how delicious the food is from this place. My wife and I are in love with it, and can't stop going back to try new delicious dishes from their eclectic menu. For anyone that's a bit tired of simple traditional Chinese food that's been the predominant feature of the Melbourne landscape for so long, Dumpling Wise is such a breath of fresh air with bold new tastes and variations on the more traditional dishes.
They introduce such lovely Sichuan flavours and spice in some new and exciting dishes that are just as good as some of the top Sichuan restaurants we've visited in the CBD's Chinatown. Some notable favourites that we've had which are definite "go to" dishes are:
201 - Spring Pancakes
402 - Sichuan Noodles with Minced Port & Peanut Sauce - Lovely comfort food / winter dish - the broth is to die for.
410 - Wok Fried Kway Teow w Seafood - Awesome flavours and one of the best Kway Teow's we've ever tasted.
503 - Sichuan Fried Rice w Pork Belly Slices - Absolute heaven when you mix in some "Lao Gan Ma Chilli Oil" - They have as a condiment on the tables - ask them to provide in a small plastic take away container.
504 - Fried Crispy Skinned Duck Leg w Rice - Lovely tender duck, slow cooked and falling of the bone with a yummy rich Hoisin flavoured sauce.
601 - Stirred fry Beef on Sizzling Plate - Beautiful creamy light sauce with tender slices of beef cooked to perfection. A real satisfying dish for those whom like less spices but bold flavours.
In summary, it's terrific to see such an invigorating new restaurant at Watergardens that provides such consistent quality of food, and quite good service as well. It's a pity they don't have a liquor licence which may deter a small number of patrons, however the food is of such excellent taste, quality and value that I doubt this will be a major deterrence in Dumpling Wise cementing itself as one of the finest Asian restaurants to establish itself in the outer North West of Melbourne for many years to come.
We get the pork and chive pan fried dumpling and vegetarian fried rice. Always good . Great food

Delicous and budget friendly and service is always quick. The portions are large in quantity so bring your appetite. The menu has lots of variety and we like the casual feel.
Really only come here for the dumplings. As a student the deal for 10 dumplings is 100% worth. I personally like to drown my dumplings in chilli oil. There is a great family ambience with clean and neat seating to the side of the restaurant. It's in the furthest corner of Watergardens so most people don't venture down but it is worth the walk. Its always busy and your order will be taken down fast.
Been here a couple times, love the bbq pork buns. The prawn dumplings and the xiu mai are good, but had the honey chicken and rice for lunch once - hard to describe but was not good. Didn't leave me feeling satisfied and just felt like a chore to eat, couldn't finish it! That one meal was very meh, unfortunately, but the other things I ate were good!
Fresh and authentic dishes. Everything I've tried has been really good. Generous portions. Fast service. Convenient location. Good value for money
Absolutely love this place. Great prices. Very good portion sizes to share or have some to take home. Food is always tastey and arrives in a timely fashion. Establiment is always nice and clean. Nice staff aswell, who are always well presented.
This place is good, probably the best in the are. A little pricey but worth it! Highly recommended! But would be nice if staff understood customers a little better and smiled more often!
There seems to be mixed reviews for Dumplings Wise which holds true for my own experiences too. A long time ago on one of my visits, the XLB had too much ginger mixed in, which kept me from coming back for a few months. After seeing better reviews on Zomato I came back and have re-instated it as one of my regular local eats. My most recent visit proved to be very pleasant as it was busy, so the food that came out was fresher than usual.
Gotta say, if you want a decent meal, go to a restaurant that isn't in a shopping centre. But for a quick bite to eat, their prawn dumplings 4 for $6 are absolutely delish.
This place is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it's really good and sometimes not so much. On my most recent occasion I was met with cold pan fried pork dumplings. Would still come back from a quick and convenient dumpling fix
Was good when they first opened and portions were decent. However, last weeks portions were just way too small and inconsistent compared to previous times. Still a decent place in watergardens to grab dumplings but dumpling pastry can be improved.
Best food in Watergardens easily. Wonton noodles are delicious! Can also recommend '408) Wok Fried Noodles w/ Pork'
Although it's called Dumpling Wise i'd recommend the noodles and wontons over the dumplings, the dumplings are still nice, but the others are better

West side dumplings hallelujah!. Friendly service and tasty dishes.

Finally a decent dumpling place out this side of town. This place has just opened up and they consist toy have been getting longish queues out the front. Getting a table on your own is a bit tricky considering you choose a table and then go off back out to the front to order.... You might find as I did that someone else takes your spot :)
There is a bit of await time for your food to arrive but it's early days and I'm sure that they are still trying to find their feet :)
Other than that the staff are really friendly and they have a big menu to choose from. Though I was a little disappointed not to see any scollop dumplings on the list
All dumplings are hand made and are fresh. They also make frozen ones so you can take them home if you have a steamer.
I had the calamari and it was very nice. Right amount of salt and spice for the batter
I will be back Nd try some dumplings next time
Good food, prices & atmosphere. Clean, modern decor. No issues with service so far. Will return often. 👌
P.S. Watergardens needs more places like this.
I dont know why this place is still listed as it hasn't existed at Watergardens for at least 2 years!!!

Dumplings were massive! 20 between two people and struggled to finish them all. Not city dumplings, but still totally worth it.
Had the pan fried pork dumplings and was very impressed. Fresh with good favour. The plates and cutlery were clean as well as the restaurant. Service was very quick and reasonably priced. My friend also had thehomemade satay chicken roti and loved it.
Great prices and service is always super fast. If you want to get some good dumplings for lunch this is your place. Good selection of over food in the menu but really the dumplings are the best. You can’t go wrong with the price. They are just so cheap
