Best greek snacks by far but even after renovations worst service counter in melbourne you cannot easily order and pain even though they have two registers and the smoking outside the door is unacceptable
Great service but slow nice coffee and polite potty about all the cigarette smoke at the door way
Best tiropita and spanokopita I have ever had and the rice pudding is perfect though their cooked meals like the souvlaki etc could be more generous in meat and less generous with the greens
Koulouria are quite nice pity no tarama
Solo diner probably not as their attention goes to larger louder crowds so if on your own or new and a small group best get take w away
They really need to modify their cash register it is quite ineffective and slow when you order and they leave to make coffee then return to get your food order and then it goes on again
But otherwise a great lace and please
Get rid of the teens smoking out th e front door
Really detracts from the place
Wow, the food was delicious! Can’t wait to visit again. Coffee was good too. Staff was friendly and organised an outdoor table quickly for our group.
Excellent iconic Greek restaurant in Melbourne. Fabulous atmosphere.
First time here with my family. The service is fantastic. The staff are so so friendly. The cakes are delicious as well!! Will come back here again 100%
On a beautiful day drive to the hills it was lovely to come across this venue.
Plenty of parking availability with a live singer for the day. A sensible menu something for everyone. With a predominantly Greek menu it’s so easy to choose. Food service was good and staff were kind and attentive. Great value for money with good food. No complaints!
My friend took us here and she said this restaurant was the place for Greek food and dessert. We all kind of copied each other and order 3 Souvlaki on the Xilakia but 2 with both lamb and pork and 1 pork itself. It came with the wraps, chips and side salad and we make our own souvlaki. The food was amazing, it was very filling and very generous portions. We also ordered desserts and coffees: yo-yo, tiramisu and sticky date. Service was very quick and friendly, considering we were sitting outside on a cold night the heaters was extremely warm and cosy.
Polite and prompt service. Came here for dessert, coffee and wine. Tried a couple of the cakes and they were fantastic. Nice ambience. Had a really lovely time here. Would definitely recommend and revisit.
We came here as a family for breakfast on the 8th of September and it was wonderful. I had the french toast and it was absolutely delicious. We liked it that much we came back the following Sunday for breakfast again. This time I had the pancakes and my wife had the french toast. Both were fantastic. Will definitely come back. I highly recommend this place.
Always great food and great service at Melissa’s. Exceptionally cooked meat and very generous portions! There’s also great coffees and a huge selection of sweets.
Definitely going to keep coming back :)
Nice place and environment..
Very friendly staff and..
The food is really good...
Nice location and parking area
I have been there 3 times, all great !
Grouse food, had the Melissa burger and was 👌. Food is made with care and service is always on point . Have been multiple times and would suggest to everyone .
What a fantastic cafe that caters for every person no matter what you want to eat.. The staff are very friendly and after taking 6 clients their for Lunch, not only was I impressed but my clients where extremely happy with the food and service we received.. Would highly recommend this very popular, and relaxing cafe ..
Mélissa Bar Café is a warm and welcoming restaurant serving unpretentious and generous food for the soul.
The broad menu is inspired by flavours from the Mediterranean and spans pastas, burgers and a wide assortment of mains and salads. The space is expansive, bright, airy which is perfect for lounging on a weekend.
Melissa’s Cakes are to die for! The first thing you notice when you walk in is the vast array of cakes and desserts. The atmosphere is busy, but service is quick which is great. The food is nice and flavoursome. I highly recommend this place 👏🏻
Have always loved Melissa’s, been a favourite spot of mine for a very long time so I thought a review was 100% necessary! As always the frappe was perfect and I got the big breakfast, which, as always, was delicious. Great atmosphere, staff were amazing and it’s worth the parking struggle
Passed this cafe many times, seen a lot of cars in the parking lot, but never had a chance to stopped by. Well today is the day!
We had an ice coffee with cream on top, chocolate milkshake, and cakes.
I love the drinks! The ice coffee was nice and strong, but maybe more generous vanilla ice cream will be more appreciated 😄.The milkshake was tasty and creamy.
The cheesecake was good but only very mild cheese tasted. So if you are a fan of heavy cheese, probably this won't suit you.
And I have to say the lemon cake was a good companion for my ice coffee!
Had a good experience overall. Service was okay.
After a long week / day at work, #ToFeedTwo and a close mate went to Melissa’s for a late dinner. We arrived at 9.45pm and still received prompt and on the ball service.
Melissa’s is great to come to if you are after a happy go lucky meal and of course cater to those who can’t make dinner at the usual 7-8pm. We ordered the Moussaka, Open Lamb Souva & Zucchini chips. All food was flavorsome & decent sized but our favourite was definitely the zucchini chips!
I was catching up with a friend for dinner who lives nearby so checked out Melissa’s, an uber busy suburban cafe dishing out crowd pleasing pub style classics at quite reasonable prices. I went for the calamari which was a tasty serve of salt and pepper seafood accompanied by chips and salad. Service was prompt and the atmosphere quite pleasant. Cake cabinet looked sensational which one would expect given the restaurant has the word cake in its name but we abstained on this occasion. It’s my understanding it’s run by a Greek family so the moussaka and saganaki might be quite authentic to try
Food is priced well and tastes good, the big breakfast is my favourite. Staff are nice and prompt with service. More variety on the menu would be good though.
We are regulars at this fantastic casual cafe. Went there this morning for Father's Day breakfast. The lovely waitress Liza quickly showed us to our table and provided water and pleasant conversation while she took our coffee orders. Nick the barista quickly created a wonderful cappuccino and latte. I doubt there is a better barista in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The big breakfast and the breakfast bruschetta were both extremely generous portions and beautifully cooked. The value at this Templestowe institution is hard to beat. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting. Cheers also go out to the handsome young blue-eyed waiter Gerard and the lovely Scottish lass Jill, both of whom are always welcoming and cheerful. Look forward to our next visit!
Called into Melissa's this morning looking for a crossiant and a coffee.
The service behind the counter was friendly enough. The I realised that this was a Greek cafe so crossiants for me today lol
This cafe is HUGE and in a surburban area but it was surprising really busy given its location.
My piccolo latte was ok. The cakes etc here looked amazing but I managed to resist... just.. hahaha
And I found out today that it’s a $10 eftpos minimum!! Grrr
This place has a great ambiance - bustling and vibrant. However, this often proves to be excessively loud during its peak. Great for coffee and Greek food. The breakfasts here are also generously portioned. The staff are attentive but aren't necessarily welcoming, and it is often a hit and miss with their friendliness.

An established standalone restaurant by the junction of Parker and Mahoney St, the dim lit interior is spacious and comfortable, in and out, much like a hotel cafe.
Was here for late dinner on a weeknight and the place was busy, at about half filled indoors and almost full house outdoors. It had a great vibe here, a great hang out place.
Food were decent tasting and of generous portions.
Long display of an array of sweet pastries, there was no room for dessert on this occasion but will be back to try next time for sure.
Service staff were hospitable and price on above average but was reasonable for the quality of food & service.

My family and I went for dinner on Friday and were very happy with the food. My husband had the pork chops and they were fantastic. I had the lamb cutlets and they were great as well. My daughter had the S&P calamari and my son had the pork and lamb skewers. They both enjoyed their food immensely. Their service was wonderful and friendly. Cannot wait to go back.
Had a long black. Excellent taste, strong. Had lemon meringue and fruit tart. Both delicious. Service was excellent. Sat outside with two dogs and staff were welcoming.
One of the very few authentic Greek restaurants cum cafes around, spanakopita, calamari and risotto are top notch. A must try dessert section alongside the counter. Service is quick and helpful. Recommended. Prices mid to high.
Came for morning tea on a weekday. Ordered the wedges, lemon meringue pie and vanilla slice. The wedges were freshly cooked and the staff catered for our order even though the lunch menu hadn't started yet. The lemon meringue and vanilla slice were alright. Coffee was alright. I would've personally liked it stronger. Prices were within range for the area. Big place therefore there were a lot of table/booth, indoor/outdoor choices. Staff were very friendly and polite. All in all, a nice place tucked away in Templestowe.
Absolutely love this place. The Atlantic salmon was well cooked and fresh. Portions were huge! The mixed souvlaki and parma were inhaled! The mixed dips and beer battered chips were great too. Good atmosphere, live music and waitress was chirpy and efficient. It is our local and it has changed over the years but for the better.
What a great popular cafe bar restaurant. Greek influenced menu yet with great variety. The cake selection is amazing, abundant and they are delicious. This is a great place to go as it will please everyone. The service is good and prompt. Downfall is there is only one female toilet in the place and it is a busy place be prepared to wait!
We strolled in for breakfast and rolled out! Although the big breakfast didn't look massive, it was hard work getting through it all!! The kids tried to share one big breakfast and the dark choc and cherry pancakes - they needed help finishing!! Positives- The kids milkshakes were really big and half the price of an adults, saganaki and tasty sausages really topped off the breakfast and I was able to swap mushrooms for spinach on my big breakfast for no extra charge. Negatives - poached eggs lacked runny yolks , spinach was oily and $4.50 for a mug of coffee seemed steep compared to $2.50 for a big kids' milkshake... Still, great, filling, tasty meal and really well priced! We'll be back...
And back we’ve been but the cherry chocolate pancakes have gone 😥 still a great value buzzing place for a big yummy meal!!!!! we had the French toast instead... not nearly as good as the pancakes, but still very pretty and quite tasty!
My wife & I have date night ever second Friday night which could find us driving all over Melbourne trying all types of food. I didn't really know what to expect when we were on our way to have dinner here. I was just looking for a nice relaxing night with my wife, have a coffee, some dinner & conversation. When we walked in we were instantly greeted with a smile, we said we didn't book & was told that was absolutely fine & were seated straight away. The service was probably the best we have had in a long time. We ordered coffee & food. It came out super quick & was amazing. We had the Mezze Platter, the zucchini chips were delicious, the dip spicy, could not fault anything!!! I only have 2 grumbles. The dessert was a bit "factory", was ok but I'm sure it could be heaps better. Second grumble & it's not the cafe's fault but why do people think that it's ok to bring their kids out to dinner & let them run around, squeal, scream, yell & be loud. We would have stayed longer but the 2 families sitting next to us were just to much. I do recommend the Mezze Platter. You won't be disappointed. And thank you to the staff for great service.
Had Father's Day lunch yesterday. Good service and nice food all around. The entire of lamb ribs was excellent while the mains of salt & pepper calamari was tender and reasonably seasoned. The crime brûlée tart was quite good but the plating was quite basic as there were no condiments along with the tart.
Food here is what you'd expect. service is good. Coffee is good. And meals are large servings.
It has a huge menu with so many options to choose from. I have been here a few times and found the food to be consistent. The lamb salad is delicious. The breakfast is good too although nothing spectacular. Good local restaraunt.
This is a great place for me to take the family, the kids love their milkshakes and tiropites, or their chicken parmas from the kids menu.
The choice from the menu is pretty good value for money and the food is pretty decent as well.
We have received consistently good service and this is another reason we return on a regular basis.
Came here after so many years only because it's a little far from home. Founded 50 years ago by a Greek family, what I had today: apple crumble and latte plus the clientele, you must visit. The crumble with ice cream was sublime. The latte second to none.
You know what,
Comming here last night from the northern suburbs and eating at over priced places like groove train, coffee club etc.
This place makes you wonder where its been all your life because of how cheap the menu is and how amazing these chefs are.
I had a chicken and mushroom risotto
(I'm Italian so I'm fussy)
OH MY GOD 👌🏻
It was amazing and such a generous portion.
This place is right up at the top of my list.
Might even go back this morning and try breakfast this time😋
Had a lunch date with my daughter here.
Although we were seated quickly, took a little bit to catch a waiters' eye to take our order. The waitress that did eventually see us, was really friendly & happy.
The salt & pepper calamari was perfect, well seasoned & not overcooked, that it was tender to bite into. The chicken parma was nice, but nothing to rave about. I did like having the grilled eggplant, instead of the typical ham on the parma though.
We were both too full from our meal, that we had to reluctantly forego the tempting sweets of offer this time round. May have to come back for coffee & sweets next time we're in the area.
Edit: came again a few days ago... Originally service was okay. Food was nice I ordered the lamb salad again great. Then we weren't touched for ages, no check on our meals no checking in if we wanted another drink. When we got up to look at the desserts, we were gone for about 1 minute and our table was cleared and given to somebody else!! We were stranded! A table shouldn't be cleared and given away until the bill has been closed. Very disappointed.
Came a little while ago and this place had probably one of the best lamb salads I have had! Meat was cooked well, salad was fresh, pita was warm and tzatziki was delicious! Melissas have definitely stepped up their game.
This is an average suburban restaurant that provides both a Greek and Italian menu that the whole family will love. I came on a Saturday night when it was busy. Not having a booking we were lucky to get a table. Promptly our orders were taken but it did take quite some time to get our drinks (which were only soft drinks). The souvlaki was great and plentiful! We have no idea what that little squirt of mustard was on the board but the meat and pita were a match. The vege moussaka was rich. Maybe a little too much cheese but still hearty.
Came her with a couple of friends for some tea/coffee and cake. Lovely staff and fresh cakes. We stayed for a couple hours and found it was a great venue to catch up.
I recommend Melissa's. I eat here very often, and the food is fresh and delicious and the staff are pretty good. I love the linguine marinara so much!! And don't start me on the desserts.. I love the huge selection and the fact that u can take them home. It's only negative is it's quite a noisy restaurant.
Saturday night dinner with family and friends. I enjoyed the ambience and relaxed dining areas. Food was served quickly even though it was busy. Hard to go wrong from a value for money perspective the portions are plentiful. Will go back.

Ok ok opa!!. The food is ok and the service varies, ive had fantastic service and not so good. Food is ok. Price are average and cakes and coffee are pretty good. Its busy and it has a nice atmosphere!
Enjoyed my enormous lamb souvalaki very much. The meat was average however as some pieces were tender and some tough. Overall it was a nice experience.
I love coming here, there is music, the food is reasonable the cakes are great and coffee is good too. It has a relaxed atmosphere and prices a reasonable. I visit often
Love going here with my family all the staff are very nice and always attentive. Coffee is great and I recumbent the Breakfast Bruschetta if you have time. If not the Banana Bread is great!!
