Delicious food and amazing coffees! Lovely staff as well! Highly recommended!
Nice place. Very homely. Found the cheese burger excellent, perfectly toasted bun, large thick tasty bacon piece, very tasty meat and the chips nice too. TheBuddha bowl delicious and refreshing. The coffees were excellent. Can tell this business really care how they present and the food was excellent. I do not do many reviews but I have to say this place is highly recommended.
Si Cafe is located on James Street in Templestowe. After a recent renovation we were invited to check out the menu. It’s a lovely spacious cafe with some attractive wall art & an obvious favourite with the locals.
We started with hot chocolate & mandatory marshmallow & tea which was presented well including a little tissue rose.
On a chilly day, I had to try the shakshuka. It was an impressive one too, plenty of sauce, chilli & flavour with a generous serve of dukkah spiced Turkish bread for dipping.
The Buddha bowl was filled with goodness, plenty of flavour & variety of ingredients with a tahini dressing.
We finished with the berry hotcake which was presented beautifully & served with berry compote & mascarpone on the side. Absolutely delicious & a must try if you visit.
Tony & the team at Si Cafe were extremely warm & welcoming and made our visit a memorable one. Thanks so much for having us in.
Real score 3.7.
The cafe looks pretty good. It’s presented in a good modern style. The coffee here was unexpectedly exceptional. Dark, rich and luscious. It’s just as you’d want a strong coffee to be. It was delicious. And, surprisingly, it was better coffee than that of its feted nearby neighbour a bit down the road, Down the Rabbit Hole. The menu looked good here as well. Someone’s good on descriptions. I started salivating on reading a couple of things listed on the menu. The table water wasn’t cold though. A small thing, granted, but one that matters to me. Chilling table water shows care and class I reckon. And it was beautifully chilled at the Rabbit place. Service was speedy, efficient and very polite at Si. It seemed like a really good place and well worth a return visit.
We were invited to Si yesterday morning a recently renovated Templestowe cafe with the loveliest of staff. We arrived right between breakfast and lunch time and decided to go with the breakfast style menu though the lunch options were tempting.
I had smashed avocado, my breakfast staple but jazzed it up with some sides including the salmon gravlax with hovmastarsas which was an exotic sauce and one of the most exceptional hash browns I’ve had, clearly house made, perfectly seasoned with some yummy herbs throughout.
The most delectable of all however was the thoroughly delicious berry hot cake which was stunningly presented and far exceeded my expectations based on how it read on the menu. I loved the berry compote and vanilla mascarpone accompaniments. Definitely a must order! And while we were quite full after that couldn’t resist trying a cannoli from the cabinet of sweet treats.
