Review Muscats Restaurant At The Vines - The Vines

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at Muscat's. Our server Edmond was lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was amazing and even better it was great value for money.

Very unorganized staff. I booked a bottomless high tea early December for my best friends hens (6 weeks in advance) and was assured it was booked and would receive a confirmation call the weekend before the booking - I never did. I called myself to confirm the week before and was told I would be called back. Three days before the booking I was called and told rudely that high teas were not commencing again until February and the last high tea had just been held. I was left with just three days to re-book a whole hens afternoon! The lady was very unapologetic on the phone.

My daughter booked the Mother’s Day high tea for our family of 4 adults. What an absolute disappointment it was! We arrived just before our 2pm sitting and we were seated very promptly, which was the last of the good service we received. We waited 15mins to be served table water, whilst others were given the selection of still or sparkling we only had the choice the of still. As we waited and chatted with the family, I received the complimentary espresso martinis which was definitely not hand mixed and tasted terrible. I saw a lot of others leave theirs so must of been of the same opinion. We weren’t given a drinks menu until my husband went to the staff and asked and was told go see the bar. Overpriced wine and drinks ($55 for a bottle of moscato) we waited to have the tea and coffee that came with our $59 per head high tea. We received our 3 tiers of very basic food, nothing was cooked fresh the tiny piece of Sausage roll and tiny quiche were cold. The salmon finger sandwich was over filled with average cream cheese & the cucumber/cheese wasn’t much better. We only received 3 serves of the scones for a table of 4, which my husband advised the server twice and then went up to the main server who said we got the correct amount. He then realized he was wrong and 20mins later delivered 1 more. We were still waiting for tea and coffee (with everyone else) and we finally waved a server down to order 2 coffees and a tea at 3pm. We waited for 20mins to receive our coffee with half in the saucer and no tea. We left at 3.40pm advised the staff not to worry about the tea as it wasn’t worth the wait. The rude head waiter just waved us off and said “oh well”. My family and I will NEVER return and we will definitely be telling others not to bother.

Steak was perfectly cooked, service was prompt and organized, needs were anticipated. We had mentioned the dinner was for an anniversary on the booking and upon arrival the staff congratulated us immediately and also had a card on the table. Activity pack was supplied for our child and the dinner went really well. Before our meal even began our toddler adorably asked the staff for fried eggs, and though we obviously didn't want them to have that for dinner, the next morning the staff remembered and ordered fried eggs for our little one. It's the small things that set Muscats apart.

Had a fantasic meal for my Husbands birthday at Muscats, love the traditional style of hospitality that Edmond offered he went out of his way to make our celebration very special and even put a sparkler in our dessert. The other girls sorry i didnt catch their names were also friendly and polite. Food was great and loved the seafood Tower.

Husband and I booked for dinner last night. Good atmosphere. Ordered salmon entree and prawn entree, both were highlights for me. Pork and Steak for mains. Glad we ordered sides as no salad or greens with mains. Both were really good. And Strawberry Flan and Chocolate Pud for dessert were good. Service was really good and staff were friendly. Only small complaint was wait time between meals was a little too long but overall a good experience👍🏼

We are regular diners at Muscats Restaurant as we’re Accor members which makes the meals great value for money, and we always enjoy their food and service. But tonight was the best meal we’ve had in Perth for a while!!!! The chef (John) came out and spoke to us and advised he’d just taken over as head chef there about 4 weeks ago. The food was fantastic!! We had the grilled sourdough with pumpkin hummus entree, the pork belly and eye fillet for mains, and the sticky date and chocolate fondant for desserts - all were super delicious and looked amazing!! The service was great, even though they were a bit short staffed due to hosting two weddings in the hotel - but you wouldn’t have even known! Thanks team for another lovely meal and we look forward to dining there again soon.

my wife and i stayed at the vines and dined at the muscats for our anniversary. I feel that the restaurant is a bit cold that night, not enough heater, but the ambiance is perfect for our celebration. the food was ok, and i must say i liked the beef steak with pork ribs, that was yum. the breakfast buffet needs to add more of the food choices.

Not as good as I thought. Had dinner here and the lamb was very fatty. The stake was tinny. Entree was very nice but expensive. $17 for only 2 small octopus legs. Dessert was not bad. Overall we spend almost 200 dollars for 2 of us and was still hungry, and I am not even a big eater.

We came in a large group so we had the chance to try a few entrees and sides. The scallops were the highlight out of the arancini balls, prosciutto and quail dishes. For main, I chose the beef with cannelloni. Beef was cooked perfectly, lots of flavour in the pasta and sauce. Good portion size. I tried hubby’s lamb which was also tasty but on the smaller side especially for the price. Really enjoyed the mash and autumn green sides. Overall the food was enjoyable although it was on the pricer side and a trek to get to.
Lesley
A Bit Disappointing<br/>The three scallops we were served as a starter were very chewy.<br/>My husband had the duck which he enjoyed but was disappointed that the skin was not crispy.<br/>My grilled fish was grilled fish served on a mound of linguine and no vegetables. I noticed that people were ordering side dishes of salad and veggies and I realised afterwards that none came with the main dish. For the prices they are charging you should expect a good serve of veggies on your plate.<br/>We also waited about 45 minutes between our starter and main course which was annoying when we could see others being served who had ordered after us.<br/>No massive complaints but it meant that we had an OK night instead of a special night, we were expecting better.

Service was great. Food was amazing. Family friendly restaurant with amazing views. Food quality was high & well-presented and the portion sizes were good. Service staff were nice but not very attentive. In my opinion at Muscats the best meal and best deal is to go for High Tea (as compared to lunch/ dinner – ala carte)....it’s faultless and choices are endless. They serve an extensive array of savoury and sweet dishes with Tea and champagne. The only complaint / downside was – we ordered few coffees, and the coffee were a disaster, not pleasant at all.
Claire
They really need to train their staff properly. The night had so many service issues that we were looking forward to seeing what would go wrong next. A few mistakes are fine but there were just so many. They promote themselves as a wine restauraunt but just dont seem to really have a clue. Our first order of drinks started with a cocktail that didnt have any mixer and needed to be sent back and remade, also the wrong wine order came out and by the time the correct one came out, we had all finished our starter. <br/>For mains, the waiters didn't know which dish was wich and gave the beef to the people who ordered lamb and when corrected they were unsure which of the 2 beef dishes ordered was rare and medium rare. Turns out the medium rare was cooked medium as well. <br/>The next bottle of wine was to be shared among 6 people, the server who was pouring only managed to divide between 5 so we all had to pour our glasses into the remaining empty one. <br/>The menu also says the lamb comes with goats cheese but it is so hidden in the sweet potato patty that it's undetectable. We had a great night and the food was pretty good and the staff were nice enough but just too many service errors.

Went to muscats for New Years Eve. Wanted a quieter atmosphere to take a 2 week old newborn. It was the right choice. Enjoyed a peaceful 3 course dinner in a quiet and comfortable setting. Food was fantastic but service could be improved. Coffee was very bitter and told that it was because it was decaf. Overall though we were happy with the experience and food.

Muscats is a nice restaurant with little faults. The ambiance is very nice, dimly lit and can be quite romantic. The entrees were fantastic, the apple complimented the kangaroo perfectly and was very enjoyable, the tortellini was very nice, just very small. The beef fillet was cooked well and had complementing sides, the duck was quite disappointing, it was overcooked, the potatoes were really dry and the sauce was to sweet for the dish. Desserts were phenomenal! Highly recommend getting each of the spheres! Customer service was good, we had a wonderful friendly waitress, though the restaurant manager was not impressive at all, walked around like she owned the place and when she offered our bill, she took another 15 minutes to print it

We were having the hot breakfast included with the hotel room booking. The breakfast was just disappointing. Before we seated, the chairs are just dirty with all the food debris, reckon falling from the table when they clean the table. The waiter seems not happy with my observation and just directed us to the other table. The table are not fully cleaned anyway. The cooked breakfast are not made to order. The tomato and mushroom should be prepared for age and warmed them for long time so they are all dried. The poaching egg ordered as soft but it may be the hardest poaching egg I ever had. Way over cooked. The coffee are disaster, not pleasant at all. Just the same as from the automatic coffee machine. The cappuccino didn't have any milk foam at all. Not on par with any cafe or coffee shop.

Enjoyed a quiet high tea here on a Sunday. I remember it being much better when they served the buffet high tea here some years ago. Didn't really like the savoury selection and the sweet selection was just average. Good atmosphere though.

Crispy bacon at Muscats is a limp wet slimy substance, one of the worst pastries I have ever tasted as it may have been defrosted or a few days old who knows but I have no doubt coles or woolies would have been better, extremely small range of foods for a buffet e.g. only scrambled eggs, fruit was quite average. No cream for pancakes. Nothing really stood out in a positive sense. Just extremely overpriced for what is on offer, can't really think of a worse value brekky in Perth. If you were lost on the golf course for a few days and needed something desperately maybe go here, otherwise give it a miss. Nice lawns and coffee was OK, it gets points for that.

Had the best service. The meals were Devine and presented so elegantly. We all left full and satisfied. An absolute credit to the chef and staff.
Little Chef
Had a high tea here for 7 people and the location and surroundings are very nice but the high tea was below average. Savoury dishes were ok apart from the chicken sandwich which had no taste and was far from fresh, everything is pre made left in a fridge and brought out when you arrive. Two items were dropped off the plate by the staff and they could not replace them as the chef had left (2pm) they did discount this off the bill to be fair. Cake selection included cup cakes that were dence and hard to cut and the scones were a bit well fired and very dry to eat. For the money you would be cheaper getting a pre packed Shell petrol station sandwich and a cake and stick them on a fancy plate.

If you are seeking a relaxing family getaway but don’t fancy jumping on a plane or enduring a long car journey coupled with "Are we there yet?", then look no further than the recently refurbished The Novotel Vines Resort in the picturesque Swan Valley, located just 35 minutes from Perth CBD.

We had dinner and breakfast here, the service was excellent, the food was delicious, the staff went above and beyond for us! Our waitress from the night before was having her breakfast when we had breakfast, and she was still helpful and talking to patrons while off duty. On the pricey side but you do get what you pay for.

Took my friend out for a pre-birthday lunch, as I work away and wouldn't be here, so I thought a nice high tea would be the answer... And it wasn't. We had to wait to be acknowledged then wait to be seated. After being seated we were promptly asked our tea order which came out quickly as well; however we had the normal white coffee mugs compared to everyone else that had pretty tea cups and it took a decent 15 minutes to get someone's attention to ask for milk. There was no atmosphere, no music or ambiance and there was no lighting, they were relying on the natural light but it was cloudy and a lot of glare. The food sounded and looked delicious but sadly wasn't very delicious. Of the 3 tiers there was only 3 things that were tasty. The smoked chicken, salted macadamia slice and the scones where the only good things. I ordered a coffee after my tea went cold and I'm not really a tea drinker, it was an additional cost, I order a latte only to get a very very strong flat white that, even after taking a few sips and adding the last of my milk from my tea and an equal as I usual have in a coffee, it was still very strong and I didn't end up finishing it. I was told this menu was only new and I hope the comments we passed onto the waiter Charles were taken on board. Also Charles was amazing!! So willing to listen to our grievances and offer compensation of a small discount. He was the 4th best thing bout that day, he needs a promotion!! <br/>Willing to try it again in a couple of months after some of the kinks are worked out.

It breaks my heart to read some of the reviews. We came without expectation and were so happy with the quality of the food and service. Come for dinner and try this great little restaurant.

High Tea Fail. Epic, epic fail.. Please do yourself a favour and do not venture here for high tea. I know that it looks glamorous on the website, and I too had high expectations. You will immediately know you've made a terrible mistake when you enter the tired venue and get seated with a view of the mornings packed up breakfast buffet. The service was slow and clumsy, but I feel bad saying that because they were also very nice. And then we get to the high tea itself. One tier consisting of watery, hard quiche, a dry 2cm square of cucumber sandwich, one of mum's typical egg and lettuce triangle sandwiches (awesome at home, not awesome after you've paid $50 for it). Second tier was a dense, supposedly red velvet 'cupcake' with a squiggle of brightly coloured fake buttercream. It was cheap looking, and cheap tasting. The chocolate croissant was passable, but had that store-bought texture. The scones. Oh the scones! Dense, dry, hard, burnt. Terrible. Anyone could do better at home. Anyone. By the third tier our hearts just weren't in it anymore. It was a special surprise for my mum's birthday, and I was so disappointed that I had ruined it with this high tea choice. Don't do it, please, try The George, perhaps No4 Blake Street or The Duxton. Step away from the crappy overpriced high tea.

Terrible! Went here for Christmas function. The worst part of the evening was that I found maggot eggs in my salami cold meat cuts from the buffet table. Then the waitress had the nerve to tell me it was "just part of the salami" I, and the rest of the table know what we saw and we all agree to know what it was. Needles to say I was put off the buffet entree. Mains were uneventful, steak was chewy, lamb was tough. Salads were far from fresh. Basic meals at best. Others on our table ordered gnocci which turned out to be a slopy oily mess which struggled to resemble pasta. Over priced and out dated. Don't waste your time.

The service was poor over an hour for the mains to arrive food is overpriced and just not that good

Not 5 star high tea unfortunately. High tea today at the Vines today . Could do with a bit more ambience. Slow service, the crockery is suitable for a "soup kitchen" thick and white, very old fashioned. <br/>Maybe because I have just come back from Switzerland and the most beautiful crockery was used for everyday breakfast . I have not seen such thick cups for a long time. We used them mainly for coffee in the cafés many years ago. What happened to slightly thinner style tea cups. The scones were nice. Not enough savouries on the plate for us, but all ok. I always think of the Asian high teas, lots of pomp and ceremony, silver service etc. a long way to drive for an afternoon tea on a hot day. Everything could be pumped up a notch.

I'll keep this simple. The main were great! Everything else...... Not so much!<br/>It took 40min for two cocktails to arrive to the table. This was for a 8pm booking and was not busy! The wait staff almost out weighed the amount of people in the restaurant and their main focus was to set up for breakfast!<br/>I feel sorry for the chiefs!!<br/>At least they took the price of cocktails off the bill!
JessGirl
Overpriced! Pork belly over cooked! The crackling was like cardboard! Wasn't even sure it was crackling???? <br/>Breakfast was nearly as bad!! Paid $24 for a bit of toast & cereal :-/

HIGH TEA... do not waste your money.. We went to Muscats for their High Tea. To start with two of the cups were dirty with old tea splashes on the outside of one and the other cup dirty inside. Both clearly visible. Our outlook was a dead frizzled up lizard on the large doors which you could not miss. The table was plain with no atmosphere or effort made. Not a flower in site and basic heavy crockery. Then the food... savoury pikelets which were hard and tasted like they had been made a week ago, heavy overcooked scones with not enough cream to go around. We had to ask for more tea as it was not offered. Overall very disappointing and I would not recommend this to anyone. Definitely does not meet the standard expected for High Tea. I must stress that this is not the first High Tea we have been to around Perth but it will be our last visit there. High tea is supposed to be an experience at which Muscats totally failed.

Value for Money High Tea. My friends and I tried High Tea at The Vines the other weekend and were astounded by the quantity of food on offer! It was all very impressive and for the price of $45 or $50 with a glass of sparkling wine, it is great value for money. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon, eating delicious food and drinking the Dilmah tea with a really nice outlook onto the resort and golf course. The only issue we had was being seated by a window with the sun shining directly in and melting our food and making us sweat. The restaurant was basically empty and the staff were very friendly and obliging, so I'm sure if we asked to move it would have been accommodated.

Great night Sarah always amazing host highly re commend Saturday night buffet a must go

Average. We were staying in the Vines resort last night and went to the Muscats restaurant for a meal. It was a semi buffet, entrees and desserts were on the buffet and mains were by order. You could choose 2 or 3 courses with the entrees or deserts. We went for 2 courses with entrees and a main($55, 3 courses $70). The buffet was good, we enjoyed this. There was a good selection of meats, seafood including oysters, salads etc... Then for the main course my partner had the rump steak and I had the moussaka. These were fine, only average and nothing special. I would only suggest going here if you were actually staying at the hotel, wouldn't go for the restaurant alone. If we stayed again would likely try somewhere outside the resort. The best thing was the wine buffet, for $18pp you could go up and help yourself to a selection of whites, reds and bubbles. They were bottles that had already been opened in the week from wedding tastings. The staff were very friendly and very good, plus quick but the place wasn't too busy. We had a lovely waitress and couldn't fault any of the staff.

Had the Sunday morning hot breakfast. A bit on the exe side of $35 per head but the let our 3 kids in for free which was very nice of them. Food was pretty good. All in all enjoyed it with the family. Very friendly a and efficient service.

Impressed. My wife and I have had dinner twice in the last month at Muscats and it has been sensational. Firstly the Saturday night buffet was impressive and then the a la carte menu on Friday night was excellent. Awesome food with 5 star presentation. And hats off to the team of young staff.

A very large group of us recently went to the vines for high tea - we were all quite disappointed. <br/>It was more of an afternoon tea for one. No nice tea pots or cups. <br/>The food was so below average. It was edible but anyone could have put it together. The scones were horrible! Like a bread dough?! And it took about 30minutes for us to get the cream and jam. And it wasn't even freshly whipped cream - it was from a can. <br/>The strawberry tart was undercooked, the maracon was the only sweet I enjoyed. <br/>We were the only people there and service was poor. <br/>I would never go back here for high tea.
HG
Lovely food and exceptional service from Sarah Fry. A very enjoyable evening, thank you!
Eloise Rosenstein
Fail. Wish I could add my review on the website, but after discussing my reservation request via email in the days leading up to my booking (to coincide with a resort stay) and having my dinner booking confirmed, the restaurant had no mention of a booking for me on the night (nothing at all). Not very impressive :/
Donna
High Flop. We certainly had a surprise at the HighTea that the vines dragged up!, The tea was not nice! All sounded interesting, but that was where it stopped, disgusting would have been a better description, the scones were like no scones I've ever had before, almost like you had bread dough left over and some bright spark said lets turn it into a scone, oh and we'll make it pretty and put a raspberry on top...gross they were heavy and doughey and not nice and certainly not a scone. <br/>The filling in the Salted Caramel Macaron was burnt and totally unpalatable.<br/>Friands were heavy and stale.<br/>Strawberry custard tarts were heavy doughey and undercooked. <br/>Presentation was a disgrace, Uneven amounts for people and broken Macarons.<br/>I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture.<br/>My suggestion is if you are going to charge for this fiasco, then you need to deliver. Maybe the head Chef should at least try what is being put on the plate, and not leave it to the apprentices to deal with. Better still, try what other establishments are serving and be honest. You really shouldn't be calling it a high tea. <br/>For my friends and I, it was a total disappointment, and not one we would care to repeat.
Joe
Inedible. Went for dinner on a Saturday night and chose the two course meal of a buffet entree and a main. Buffet was simple with not a lot of choice, average salads but prawns were nice and fresh. Mains on the other hand were a total disaster. I had the pork belly and my partner had the fish curry. The pork belly was a dry piece of leather and the fish curry was absolutely terrible, my partner couldn't stomach more than two mouthfuls. Obviously the executive chef must have had the night off because no one who's worked in an Ian Love restaurant would serve that rubbish. I'm having my wedding at The Vines in the near future and I'm now extremely worried about the food.

High Tea 22/7/12. What a big disappointment. Scones served just Luke warm and very dry . Tea was luke warm. All the delights were served cold.<br/>The little quiche was tasteful but still had a chill. It was more than obvious that all had been prepared the day before. Macaroons were sticky. The salmon blinz were so tough and rubbery at the same time. With the competition of other venues in the area I expected more from the Novotel chain.

Never again. Well after not eating in this restaurant for three years after a bad experience I will never be eating here again. Once seated and our drinks order had been taken it took 45min to get our drinks. Well can’t say much for the Entree Buffet which was a selection of seafood and cold meats and some very sad salads. Then we had an hour and ten min wait for our mains. I must say the only dish that was cooked well and looked appetising was the chicken. The Prawn and Fish curry is something that I would never eat again from them, the spices where not cooked off and it looked like it was the bottom of the pot as it was mush. Then you think well I can have something to fill me up from the dessert buffet, wrong... Cream that has been sitting for hours not being kept cold doesn’t look to appealing. When you walk up to a buffet you know that the whole cake or cheese cake won’t be there but you expect that it will look presentable, not the case here. Pieces of tart and cheese placed together like they have been slide of a plate and other deserts that have been hacked at by other people dinning. Then you look to the sad cheese plate that would have been beautiful at the start of the night but towards the end of the night has been forgotten about. While you sit at your table not much has been a hit for the night, bad food, service they finish your night with the staff cleaning out the ice that has had fish and prawns dripping into it all night. Which then fills the restaurant with the most sickening smell, we all had to leave the as they would have been cleaning more than the ice up. It is sad to think that years ago the buffet in Muscats was once a great feed, price and atmosphere. What has happen....

Birthday dinner.. I went to Muscats Restaurant for my birthday with my family and close friends. All the staff were friendly and nice. The food was really good, my family loved the lamb and the pork, I had the pasta which was really nice. We will definitely be back.

A Must Go. My family and I went for dinner at Muscats Restraurant and was delighted by the food, service and over atmosphere it was wonderful the kids enjoyed a healthy choice of food which is always good when you go out because lets face it kids are fussy especially mine. my husband and I enjoyed the mouthwatering pork shank and couldn't go past the chocolate fondant to finish it off. would like to thank the staff for their great service. definately going back.

VERY GOOD. Last time i went to the vines was in 2010 and i really did not like the food in restaurant the service was ok needed some improvement. One of my wife's friends for work said that we should go to the muscats restaurant at the vines and my wife did tell her friend that we did not like it the last time we went but my wife's friend said we have to got taste the food and that we had to try the lamb so 2 weeks ago me and my wife travelled to the vines for perth. Got to the muscats restaurant still looked the same we was seated by the window and given are meuns got a bottle of wine the service was very good every staff member in the restaurant was alway smiling and looked like they wanted to be there. Then about 15-20 mins later the food come out it looked great my wife had the lamb and I had the fish of the day both tested great both service and food very good glad myself and my wife went back !!!!!!!!!!
Hannah
Great a must go. Myself and my girl friends went to the muscats restaurant last sunday night for dinner and loved everything about it the food the staff everything i had the pork melt in your mouth. One of my friends got the steak and she said it was the best steak she has ever had. One of the waiters sorry forgot the name helped as out so much with food and wine matching. Me and my friends eat out once a month and this has to be one of the best places we have been just wished we had gone sooner. If u have not been u must go and just wanted to thank all the staff at the muscats restaurant good job all round

Food is dry, bland, mismatched. Staff would be lucky to maintain a position in McD's. Wine list is weak. Awful.

Mother's Day Hi-Tea. We went for Hi-Tea at the Muscat Restaurant for Mother's Day. I have had many Hi-Teas in hotels before but I must say this has got to be the most disappointed one of all. We were impressed by the surroundings of the Vines Resort and table presentation BUT the food did not live up to the reputation of the place. It was truly VERY, VERY ordinary. The quiche, custard fruit tart, apple strudel and scones tasted like they came from a 'frozen packet mix'. We were given a plate full of scones which were cold and bready like with runny strawberry jam. It felt like they were just plate fillers and looking around other tables there were plenty leftover. The chicken turkish bread sandwich was dry and hardly had any filling. However the only item worth mentioning was the macaroons which was rather nice. It wasn't VALUE for the money we paid.
Melissa
Yeah....Na!. Really bad. I would have hoped for something better for a resort in the valley. I went for dinner Valentines day and the entre was OK but the leek tart for mains was sloppy and greasy. Sadly could have done better myself and that isnt saying much!!!
Renne
Little disappointed. On researching a high tea in Perth for many weeks I was quite taken with the review of the Vines High Tea on the high tea society site.<br/>I took my dear friend there on Sunday 1st Jan 2012 for her 60th birthday .<br/>We were seated in the Muscats Bar, instead of the restaurant which overlooks the greens and pool.<br/>The bar felt very masculine and stale and I was seated facing the bar.<br/>The staff were pleasant and attentive .<br/>I found there was no buffet which was no problem but the tier of refreshments were not of a high standard as portrayed in the advertisement. <br/>I felt there was no feminine touch behind the whole experience and for $70 for two people I was left feeling slightly disappointed as this was my first experince at high tea.
Narelle Grant
Food at breakfast is what you expect from an Accor breakfast - overpriced & ok for a buffet. Dinner on the other hand is very different. Very good, without being great food. We are used to fine dining & are happy to eat there.

Absolutly disgusting food.. Do NOT waste your money here

Afternoon Tea, not High Tea. When the Spreets deal 2 for 1 came up, I thought it would be a nice way to spend the afternoon at the Vines. I purchased 2 vouchers. Five adults and two children went, it ended up costing an additional $35 for one adult plus $15 for 2 children (the cost for children is $1 per age of the child), and we also ordered a bottle of wine at $34. On a separate note, I think they should support the local growers and sell Swan Valley or at least WA wines only.<br/><br/>I had booked this about 2 months ago, so we all had been looking forward to the High Tea. Unfortunately the long wait was met with disappointment.<br/><br/>The photo on the Spreets voucher, Vine's web site and from fellow reviewer "online" show the exact same picture of a 3 tiered tray of cakes and savouries. I think other than the scones; nothing else that was advertised was on the buffet.<br/><br/>The sandwich and Turkish bread was fresh, the fillings were ok, but it just lacked that "something". I love my sweets, but I just couldn't get excited about the range on display, I sampled a few different things, but nothing took to my liking.<br/><br/>The coffee was also warm, by the time you got back to the table, you were drinking lukewarm coffee. Cappuccino was available but at an additional cost.<br/><br/>The service was good, but the variety and quality of the High Tea was a disappointment.<br/>August, 2011

Went for high tea on Saturday afternoon arrived at 2.30pm. The only food on offer was a few sandwiches, only ham only ham or salmon some sad cakes and some scones. It's a buffet so you have keep getting up and waiting in line for your own tea and coffee. We had a speeded voucher and on the website it showed biscuits, there were none, macaroons, there were none, selection of saboteurs, there were none. No quiches no tiny savouries or sausage rolls, no cucumber sandwiches. Worst high tea I have had. Very disappointed in the false advertising.

Great!!!. My husband, two kids and I went to Muscats for High Tea this afternoon using a Spreets voucher. We started with a choice of teas, then had some sandwiches, sushi, scones and cakes from the buffet table. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The restaurant is in a pretty location and the service was great. Will definitely be going back.

Having read about quite a few High Teas in Perth I was keen to give it a shot. Recently a 2 for 1 offer came out for Muscats that seemed too good to resist.<br/><br/>High Tea can be had on either Saturday or Sunday at Muscats, from 2-5pm.<br/><br/>On arrival we were taken to our very nice seat outside in the winter enclosed area. The sun was shining through making it very pleasant.<br/><br/>The High Tea is served as a buffet style, with various teas and coffees at one end and two tables set up with the various High Tea treats. The tea selection is great, a massive selection of bagged tea as well as the flower teas the explode into the tea pots.<br/><br/>We started with some of the rolls, salmon and some salad, ham with a salad and an egg with salad. All very nice, I was a fan of the ham while Mrs Mac enjoyed the salmon.<br/><br/>Next was the scones, they are kept in a heated pot, where you help yourself to plain or the fruit variety. Bowls of strawberry jam and cream are provided off to the site. The strawberry jam has to be one of, if not the best jam I have ever eaten. Not too sweet, perfect amount of fruit and a great chunkiness to it.<br/><br/>From there we moved to the cakes and biscuits. Again very high quality, very enjoyable. The carrot cake was excellent as was the chocolate slice. Only thing I found to be an issue here was around 4pm most of the cakes were all gone, and there was no replenishment in sight. I had seen various other cakes on arrival, however when we got to the cakes part of our tea we had a smaller selection on offer. So be warned, don't get there at 4pm as you will not get the full selection of cakes...<br/><br/>A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon and would highly recommend as the quality of teas and treats were great.

Not bad Saturday buffet. Would I go out of my way to have the buffet on Saturday night at Muscats? Not really. But if I were staying at the Vines or Swan valley area, yes I would. <br/><br/>The selection was not extensive, I think that is fine to maintain quality. The lamb vindaloo was really good! The beef steaks were not. The cold selections were fresh and the service was good. Desserts were so-so only because it was a warm night with insects and a large fan was blowing at the dessert area, making cakes and cheeses dry. <br/><br/>Overall, not bad.

Loved the dinner buffet. Had the dinner buffet on a Saturday night and was very impressed with the quality. On weekends they also have a live cooking station, we unfortunately went on a night with a sushi station... although I love sushi I would of much prefered some hot cooking going on. All the seafood was fresh and from what I recall there was great warmer dishes and deserts. Two warmer dishes I will never forget is the baby back ribs and goats curry. This takes my 2nd favourite after hyatt.

Average buffet breakfast. For $200/night for a basic room for 2 and buffet breakfast, I thought maybe the breakfast might be 5 star. Nah it's average. The best bit was the bircher muesli, yoghurt and stewed fruits. The hot food was your average, sitting in water slops. Soggy bacon and sausages looked yuck so I didn't have any. I just had tomato, mushrooms and rubbery poached eggs on a piece of toast which were all devoid of flavour. Bit into a danish but left it. In my opinion these are always average unless they are very fresh or re-warmed/toasted. Can't comment on other meals here, never tried. My first visit to the vines and I probably won't ever return.

Utterly awful. The worst dining experience iv had in the last two years, one of the worst i can remember ever.<br/>this restraunt exudes an air of nobility and stuffiness with a menu almost entirely in french, but none of the "waiters" know what any of it actually is.<br/>we eventually had our order taken without recieving a drinks menu or even a bottle of water; the service was completely ignorant of the menu; when i did ask for drinks, the barman spilled it on my partners foot and didnt replace the drink or even apologise.<br/>and the food; oh my god. clearly the chef did not actually taste any of the menu. i had something like prok with a little pile of caramel coated popcorn (???) and something disastrous with frozen home-made peanut butter.<br/><br/>the kangaroo was quite nice when i worked out what to eat it with (everything on the plates came separated in piles)<br/><br/>utterly shameful, revolting food. confused and pretentious, without any delivery. and before you think im being overly critical, maybe i am as this is coming from a chef, but it really was atrocious.

The tea selection has blooming teas or loose tea options. Mum and I ordered the blooming teas, mine was the midnight lily and mum’s was the chrysanthemum.

The Swan Valley is a stunning part of Western Australia and for those who live in Perth, it’s literally right on our door step! An abundance of amazing wineries, brilliant restaurants and cafes, a range of different gourmet producers and also a Golf Resort that has long been part of the Swan Valley landscape. The first stage of the Novotel Vines Resort & Country Club was built back in 1989 before the resort followed in 1996. This beautiful Swan Valley Resort has 103 resort rooms and 54 condominiums along with the restaurants, bars and abundance of resort facilities. I recently headed out to the Vines with my mum to try out their new High Tea menu. I just love high tea. It’s an indulgent way to spend a few hours. There’s the tower of delicious food, with something sweet and something savoury, oh and something scone, usually always something scone too. There’s freshly brewed tea and a solid few hours for chatting. Just delightful. The Vines hold their High Tea from 2.00pm til 4.30pm on S

I was invited to try out The Vines Resort’s new Summer high tea menu last month and I think I picked the hottest day in Summer to go!
