The surprising thing about them, is that they are known for their pizzas for dinner, so who knew they would be exceptionally good at serving brunch. They only serve it on weekends, so it might explain why many people don’t know. The staff were attentive, but it wasn’t busy so I can only judge from this experience. Their decor was another collection of antiques that you would find at a garage sale, and it was cute nevertheless.
Delicious food with a perfect outdoor setting. Sitting outside on a beautiful spring evening, st Alexander's kitchen is the perfect dining experience. Must try the gnocchi as was cooked to perfection. Friendly waiter who was very attentive to our needs and had some great suggestions on what to eat. Can't wait to go back.
Dinner at St Alexanders. Had a fabulous dinner last Saturday night. The seafood linguine was to die for. This little out of the way place is a gem. I recommend you give it a try you wont be disappointed. We will be back for sure.
Such a lovely restaurant! The food was beautiful, especially the thin based pizzas, and the hospitality of the staff exceeded expectation!

Yum!. Recently visited with my partner and were really happy with everything. We were looked after by nice blonde girl and she did a great job helping us make decisions about what to try. We had a the 3 cheese focaccia to start. Then a pasta and pizza which were both delicious. We tried the cream brulee for dessert and coffee which ended the meal on a high. We are looking forward to coming back for breakfast sometime soon!
Unfairly judged by some of the recent reviews. Tried this old favourite of ours and have to say the pizzas are just as good, and the meatballs with pasta and Eton Mess are still top notch, plus the back is now has shelter which will be great during the summer. Definitely coming back, you could do a lot worse for $15-25 for dinner

I ate here with a group of friends for the second time the other night. Yummy food & really friendly staff. The gnocchi & lamp pizza are my faves. Can't wait for summer so we can hang out in the funky courtyard again.
Simply delicious. The Lamb pizza was outstanding and the meatball pasta a superb dish. Weekly regulars from here on.

Awesome place, very different environment for thomastown.. Good back yard with nice features. Menu remains fresh with new specials all the time.. Regularly hit this place up with mates or my girl.. She loves the home made gnocchi thanks guys keep it up
Awesome food.. I went there when i was in Melbourne food was so delicious and were cooked perfectly. The food is also not heavy on the pocket and tastes amazing!
A Hidden Gem!. This restaurant is an absolute gem of the northern suburbs. Hidden in a small shopping village, it is honestly one of Melbourne's top places to eat. The pizzas and service are impeccable :-)
This place is an absolute gem in the nothern suburbs. Definitely belongs on the streets of fitzroy or melbourne's alleys. I have been here numerous times for breakfast and dinner and I can absolutely not fault the food. Perfect every time.

Authentic Italian. Very interesting little place in the middle of nowhere. Food was delicious and very authentic, a little disappointed they were out of lasagna though??? The pizza was nice, the matriciana pasta deluxe, the gnocchi fantastic and serve sizes were good. The chocolate tart is to die for. Coffee is very nice to - only suggestion would be to get on the Bonsoy as your Soy brand and having eftpos would be more convenient. We will definately be back though.
Always, always happy to come here to eat. The food is simple and honest, much like the boys in the kitchen. The restaurant itself is a balanced mix of rustic nostalgia and contemporary suburban dining - definitely nice to see in the Northern burbs. St. Alexanders Kitchen has been made a regular in my books and I would recommend it to anybody.
Unbelievable quality food, the staff are lovely and we will definitely be back. Lots of things on the menu I must try!
Great place.. Came here and got the Gnocchi cabonarra , it's pretty damn good. Probably the best gnocci I've ever had. I was too full for desert so I will definitely come back soon. Keep it up guys.
There is only one word that can describe the food here - WOW! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the gnocchi cabonata, the Alexander pizza and that amazing chocolate tart! We will definately drive the 40 minutes to come back to this place! I only wish they could add a seafood pasta & a steak to their menu :))
Yummy. Quirky little place, small menu other than the pizzas. Food was good, the vegetable risotto and the gnocchi were very rich. Service was great. Will go again to taste the pizzas, this is what most people rave about. They don't have eftpos so make sure you have cash on you.
Great food and nice atmosphere!. It's nice to be able to eat beautiful Italian food without having to drive to Lygon st! There are many dishes on the menu I've yet to try.....it'll take a few more visits to trial everything.
The live acoustic music was great last time I went on a Friday night.

We love this place. The owner is so friendly and remembers what coffees we love. When you go out far from city it get harder to find a nice place to eat. This place is great.
Was like being in a retro beach house kitchen on holidays , so relaxed and no pretence, so much great food and friendly service! Cheap eat and all of 5mins up the road !!!

Loved it!. Took me a while to actually remember to post this, but the very fact i am posting this means that the food was soo good that i had to put it in my 2 cents.
This is a hidden gem, there is no other way to explain St.Alexander's Kitchen.
Food was delicious ( actually never had better risotto in my life ) my partner had the gnocchi, that too was excellent she actually refused to share more than one spoonful with me!!
I read the reviews below and thought hey i live around the corner from this place how come i have never been. I am usually skeptic about places with only great reviews, but boy did this place live up to its reputation. I was particularly drawn to this place due to the only (as far as i am aware) bad review here is someone complaining that there was too much lamb in their risotto, i'd say this is more of a good thing than a bad thing. Nevertheless my risotto was not overloaded with Lamb, i'd say the ratio was just perfect. not too much, not too little. The gnocchi was clearly hand-made and cudos to them because it was lovely!
The service was excellent, Staff were very warm and welcoming. There was the standard P's and T's that you would expect.
Overall this is an excellent restaurant, fairly priced with excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend this place, but don't take my word for it, It takes one visit. I will definitely be back.
Loved it. We are about to move to Thomastown from an inner suburb. We read about this cafe on urbanspoon so thought we'd check it out. I hope they don't go anywhere because we loved our breakdfast. The food was equivalent to any inner city cafe. The staff were friendly and very accommodating of my 2 year old son.
Little gem in the middle of nowhere! Would have never known this place existed. Was happy with my first dinner experience at St Alexanders Kitchen. The homemade pasta was the highlight. As we arrived they were making fresh pasta so the decision to order pasta was simple! Gnocchi was soft, tasty & cooked to perfection.
Staff were friendly & welcoming. Definitely give this place another shot sometime soon.

What a great find!. My partner and I tried St Alexander's Kitchen last night for date night. We were blown away by the quality and beautiful food and service we experienced. It is very hard to find a quality, tasty meal in this area and we will most certainly be returning and telling everyone we know about this place.
We had the fettucini and meatballs and margarita pizza and they were both some of the best pizza and pasta we have had. We finished with tiramisu which was beautifully presented and equally as yum.

What a suprise.... Walking into a simple cafe outfront, to find seating out back for the cutest garden wonderland outside! amazing atmosphere with friendly service from the minute you walk in. food was impeccable, homemade pasta with meatballs was delicious, aromatic and was just outright pleasing, heard of this place by word of mouth and am so happy i decided to visit, will definitely be a regular
The best pasta i have ever eaten!. I've travelled all around Italy & i can honestly say, the gnocchi carbonara are the best i have ever had. (No offience nonna / zia / mum )
I refuse to order pasta when i am out because i know i will be disappointed but my friend recommeneded i try it & i went ahead and did. She got the pan fried gnocchi which was equally magnifique - not to mention the generous toppings on the pizza. When they get their liquor license it will be even bette!

What the Northern Suburbs has been missing! Absolutely love this place & won't rest till we've tried everything on the menu & then enjoyed seconds. Talented chefs, friendly service, competitive prices and a warm, welcoming atmosphere make this a great place to relax and enjoy fantastic food.

Delicious home made food with great service!. We have been to St Alexanders Kitchen on a number of occasions and each time have loved the food. In particular we love the home made pasta. Our children always ask to go there. We went there last night with another family who have children that are fussy eaters..........they loved it!!!

FINALLY! Some Funk in Thomastown!. I normally have to suffice my funky cafe visits to Yarraville, Seddon, Northcote, Fitzroy etc but now I have my own little piece of groove SO close to home. Absolutely rapt that I have discovered this place! Many a summer afternoon will drift away relaxing in the 'beer' garden. No beer yet, but apparently they are in the process of obtaining a licence.
Finally we get that old fashioned customer service at St Alexanders kitchen as well as great gourmets.
Thanx guys I'll definitely be back again.

What the Norhern Suburbs has been missing.... Until now, I would have to travel to West Preston/Thornbury for something of quality. I am so Delighted that this place has opened - Their coffee is probably in the top 3 I can think of in the city - Very impressed. Their breakfast was nice, and They three brothers who are the owners/chefs were quite hospitable & friendly. The setting is great - Retro / Old school with a mural & hanging lights at the back for summer. They HOME MAKE Their own pasta, pizza & bread....it is so yum! Would Definately reccomend this - a new breakfast and dinner gem!
Very delicious food and best place to go with family. Great environment and lovely staff.
