Tonight's Tadka Dal blew me away it was so good. The chicken makhani is consistently appreciated by my partner, never disappointing. If I could afford take-away every day then this is where I would order from. The delightful extra touches and generosity never go unmissed, or unappreciated by us.
Beautiful food! Lovely staff and excellent music. Thank you so much!
The best Indian in Melbourne, hands freakin down. I love u spice treasure.
Amazing food, the service is 100% perfect. I felt like I was having lunch at my grandmothers, they are extremely welcoming.
They dont just serve food they serve Food spiced with Love
Amazing , best Indian food in melbourne!! Enjoyed a lot !!
Amazing taste !! Authentic indian food and also value of money
My favourite takeaway place in the area hands down, best value (very big serves) and the food is very, very good. Lived in Thornbury 2 1/2 years and I’d say I’ve had Spice Treasure 50+ times and it’s still exciting to get food from there.
Always amazing never failed the taste bud
Very impressive. Solid four star Indian food. Ordered on Uber Eats tonight. The food arrived in good time. Everything was good. Fish curry, butter chicken, dahl, mushrooms, Kashmiri naan, garlic naan, rice. The dishes were all lovely and the price was very reasonable. Recommended. A very good experience.
Love this place for take away. Really great curries, especially the butter chicken. We order from this place weekly and have never been disappointed.
We ordered through Uber Eats and the food was well packaged and fresh. The Shahi paneer was delicious and I could keep going for more. The lamb biryani and lamb Vindaloo was on point as well. Definitely bookmarking this place for indian next time.
This is my go-to favourite to get my Indian fix. Yes the restaurant doesn't look too inviting, and the aroma of spices can be smelt from 100m away, bit the food is delicious. To really enjoy the food, I suggest to uber eats it on a Friday night.
Cheap and delicious. We walk past this restaurant often and the smell makes me hungry! We ordered take away a number of times and it is now a family fave. The kids devour the butter chicken (not spicy at all) and we’ve discovered the goat rarra which has a nice kick to it. We have worked our way through some of the menu and are now fans of the palak paneer. Roti and naan are fresh and a great compliment to the meal. I’m hungry writing this. Yum!
I've only ordered through take away uber eats. Everytime was delicious. I'd order again. I think it's the best Indian in Thornbury. On a cold winter's nights, some Indian food from here is lovely and comforting.
Looking for somewhere new to try on a weeknight, and found Spice Temple by looking through Zomato for restaurants in the area. The reviews were fantastic, some raving “best Indian in the area”, so we decided to give it a try.
From the first bite of the cheese and chilli naan bread, it took us back to our trip to India in second.
The naan was absolutely amazing, fluffy and soft, and had the tandoor taste.
Samosas were also fantastic, and the butter chicken and lamb rogan josh were both full of flavour and very generous portion sizes of meat.
We opted for medium spice which gave a nice depth of flavour but not too hot.
$43 for a serve of samosas (3), one plain naan, one cheese and spinach naan, a chicken dish, a lamb dish, plain rice and two cans of soft drink.
Amazing value, incredible flavours, and plenty for lunch leftovers tomorrow.
Our new Indian favourite and we can’t wait to go back again. Look forward to trying their lunchtime thali next time!
The best Indian in town!
It's a take-away joint mostly.
Ask them for their recommendations on the day.
Very friendly staff and super delicious food.
Must try: Butter chicken - Rogan Josh - Palak Paneer
The staff were very friendly! The service was quick. The quantity of the serves is a good value for the money! Delicious vegetarian option available
Authentic, fresh Indian food! Tried Spice Treasure for the first time and was very impressed! Having tried many mediocre and awful Indian restaurants in the past, I didn’t have high expectations however the food here was flavourful, fresh and seems to be made with love. We tried the chicken saagwala, samosas and laccha paratha, they were all great! Looking forward to trying more of their menu.
Great to find an Indian restaurant that caters for nut and lentil allergies. The owner couldn't have been more caring and the curries and samosas are amazing
Excellent place with great customer service, food is incredibly affordable, I couldn’t have asked for better service all around!! Definitely my go-to Indian place from now on!
One of the tastiest Indian joints around town.
Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala and Roti were super tasty.
The amount of food served is ridiculous. Definitely a struggle to finish 1 whole meal to yourself.
Doesn't get too busy on a daily basis.
We have been regular customers at this restaurant. The restaurant owner is super friendly and very helpful. The food and the quantity of food served at this restaurant is top notch and at reasonable prices !!!
A must visit restaurant to eat delicious Indian food. Must must must try !!! We completely vouch for it.
Great meal and great service! Will definitely order again. Ordered on Diwali and food was tasty and service quick and friendly! Happy Diwali!
I have been there 3 times and time the food has been great.
They really need to get the Canopy fixed as they work with a broken canopy(exhaust fan).
100% poor decor but great for deliveries or take aways.
If they get the exhaust fan working then not bad to sit in and eat.
Best Indian food in Melbourne by a fair margain. All the curries are different from one another. Quantity/ serve size is better than most. Great value for money.
Only thing that can get better is the seating area. Best for takeway though.
Best Indian this side of India. The goat masala is amazing, really well priced too.
We've ordered from this place a lot and it's always good. I've only had takeaway, there's a few tables inside but it's very casual dinning.
We went to Spice Treasure recently as we had ordered via Menulog and not been disappointed.
While the decor is somewhat lacking, it almost makes you feel like you are in a small authentic home style place rather than a swanky restaurant which is kind of nice. It is non pretentious, basic and sometimes that is all you need. The food does not surround itself with fancy trappings of metal serving dishes or classy cutlery. And it shows - in the taste AND the price!!
Honestly it was one of the most delicious Indian meals I have had in such a long time. The Butter Chicken was divine, the Lamb Rogan Josh was beautifully spicy and fragrant. The garlic naan had this amazing crispy texture honestly - my dreams will be filled with dipping that naan in the butter chicken sauce for a long time to come!
While this little hole in the wall eatery lacks sophistication and the trappings of a special dining experience, who needs it when the food speaks for itself.
Keep up the good work guys!
Went for lunch here and loved the food. We had 2 veg mains and 1 chicken main with a side of rice and naan. Everything was so tasty. They even asked how spicy we wanted the food out of 10 which is great instead of the normal mild, medium or hot. The staff were so friendly too. This place looks nothing from the outside but definitely will be heading back here again soon.
We eat here on a weekly basis. From the food to the basic interior, Spice Treasure reeks of authentic Indian! The food is absolutely delicious (extremely recommend the malai kofta, cashew and raison balls in a delicious sauce), and the staff are super friendly. Also so good to find an Indian restaurant that has a wide range of veggie dishes. highly recommend!
If you are after flavour and cheap prices and hanker for Indian then come here. There are some caveats to eating this cheap which I will explain.
More of a takeaway place by the depressing seating inside but at least clean and with a toilet. It wouldn't take much to dress up the place but if you want cheap I guess you have to accept it.
Ordered Somasa chat. Very filling with two for just $5 - wow! Sauce was a little sweet for my liking. Tandoori chicken again tasty but the pieces are wings and drumsticks - that's where the money is saved. Had some Dal - super tasty but again more sauce than lentils. Rice was super generous and the mango lassi is to 'die for.' Very creamy, not big but only $3. Will stop by for that any day of the week. Oh and I had some delicious naan as well. Ordered way too much but was allowed to take home.
If you have respiratory issues be aware it can get a little smokey inside with the open kitchen. You will smell of curry when you leave. Toilet while clean might need some maintenance, the tap was very loose and I had to find extra paper towels from the storage to dry my hands.
Decent place and great value. Mild is still a bit spicy too.
My taste buds felt like all their christmases had come at once; my wallet emerged delightfully unscathed, and my stomach was happily stretched - incredible food and service and I loved watching the Indian telly.
Spice treasure is run by a very passionate hardworking chef / owner. The food is not compromised and tastes truly Indian. We went for lunch today and ordered Chicken Mughlai, Chicken chettinad spicy, Chilly Paneer, tandoori roti, rice and drinks(Coke & Lassi). We were 5 of us and still had left overs. The serves are generous and it only costed us $64.00 which is really value for money. This is predominantly a take away or delivery place as it's quite small.
The indian food here is the best I've had anywhere outside of India - and must have tried over 200 restaurants. Everything from their Palak Paneer (with very generous servings of paneer) to their Chole to their Malai Kofta are the very best. The Malai Kofta particularly is excellent here. Where some places will try to get away with serving mash potato balls, Spice Treasure does the traditional Punjab style with a tasty filling.
And the Navratan Korma is excellent - it really is a dish of jewels!!
I have also recently started ordering the 'chaats' from Spice Treasure and they are excellent. Better than even those you can find in Chandni Chowk! Delicious morsels of snacks topped with yoghurt and tamarind.
Thank you for your continuing service to us here in Northcote!
Do you like when good food doesn't cost much? This is the place!! Not the best ambience to sit and dine. But the food is good. Chicken korma, paneer angara, chicken methi malai are really good.
The bottom line is, the prices are really low, good quantity and tastes good. You'll enjoy the food for sure.
Went there for lunch and ordered the Kaidai Veg with Jeera spiced rice . It was amazing! I have to say it is the best Indian food i have ever had. I definitely recommend you check this place out.
Delicious Indian food that is not over priced. The palak paneer was divine and the bhindi as good as you'll find in Melbourne. Vego-Tuesday sorted! Looking forward to trying some more of Spice Treasure's dishes soon!
A couple of months ago I ordered a delivery meal from Spice Treasure, aspects of which I was disappointed with. I reviewed the meal honestly and in part negatively. To my surprise a fortnight later I received a phone call from the owner apologising for the shortcomings and offering to send me a free delivery of the meal as I had sought it. I took up his offer and am pleased to say the food was great. I tried x3 times to make another, this time positive review, but my lack of technical skills or perhaps cyber mystery, I was unable to do so. But I have discovered since that I can review the restaurant from Zomato. I would recommend this restaurant to you for great Indian food at reasonable price and very honest service. I will be ordering from Spice Treasure again.
Went here for dinner last night as the place we were going to go was closed. Glad we found such good food as a replacement! We had a set menu, and the portions were huge - we couldn't finish everything! Plenty of curries, rice and naan, and the entree (tandoori chicken and samosas) were also huge serves. Dessert was delicious, we shared a mango kulfi and gulab jamun. The curries were fragrant, fresh and the meat was good. My only criticism of the food is that the rogan josh was very salty. The restaurant appears to do most of its business through takeaway, and if you are eating in, don't expect anything fancy. But the food is definitely worth it!
The best Indian food that I've had in a longtime!
I ordered: vegetarian samosa, chicken tikka, tadka dal, butter naan and rice (with cumin and coriander)
Everything was absolutely delicious!
Fresh and packed with big punchy Indian spices. The portion sizes are all very generous for the price. They even threw in some complimentary papads, a salad and raita which is very kind.
I ordered delivery online via menu log - the food was at my door within 40 minutes.
Can't wait to try more food next time (like the malai kofta and goat masala) the selection is huge with lots of vegetarian dishes on offer.
My new favourite local Indian joint for sure!
The curry here was fantastic, very well readonably priced and the naan bread was amazing. Since being in Melbourne i haven't found a place that uses tasty cheese in their naan (probably because cottage cheese is authentic and not tasty) but i loooooove gooey naan bread. Only downside is they don't have the option of beef.
The food here is absolutely amazing! The customer service is even better! They delivered outside their area and spent extra time on the phone to make sure that I got my dinner. Highly recommended. Well priced, better quality than around Brunswick !
Just got takeaway and it was full of flavour and meat was tender! One of the best Indian I've had. Highly recommend it to everyone! :)))))))
The hidden gem for take away Indian in Thornbury, have had takeaway 13 times now and not 1 has failed to disappoint, The tandoori was a bit dry but the butter chicken is the best, full of lots of chicken thighs. Love the entre Padchi chat and the goat with lamb mince Goat Rarra is wonderful. The best priced and flavoursome Indian Takeaway for miles. On the one occassion we picked up our meal the place was full of locals, great sign. Try it and you wont be disappointed as it is always consistently excellent food and a very quick delivery service through menulog
Excellent food and service. Freshest and most authentic Northern Indian cuisine in Melbourne. Decor totally not flash but that's part of it's charm. It's all about the food.
The best tasting Indian food we have ever eaten. Curries are beautiful and the naan is amazing too!
Will not be ordering from anywhere else anytime soon!
Absolutely amazing Indian food, coming from UK I have found Indian food hit and miss but this has zoomed to the top of my favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne hands down!
Ordered chicken madras, came with 2 free sides raita and another I identified red sauce - yummy plus good quality popadums and a really good naan. The price was better than most competitors and the service excellent. Can't recommend highly enough!!
All I can say is... Spice Treasure has beautiful and full flavored Indian food accompanied by lovely staff. I enjoyed my first visit and can't wait to return!
Great food.. Finger licking taste.. Consistent with their food & service.. Service is excellent as well. Very friendly staff.. What more do we need.. A big thumb up..!!
The food here is always excellent. They take a lot of pride in their flavours and preparation and I am yet to have a meal from this place which has not been delicious. The restaurant itself is basic and small. One warning I do have is that if you are ordering takeaway or home delivery, be prepared to wait. Most wait times are well over an hour, and I put this down to small business as well as demand for their food, though it does need to be worked on.
I thoroughly recommend all the vegetarian options, and for something different, try the Indo Chinese selection. Just delicious.
Can only review their take away but this place is amazing every time! I live very close by and often walk down, place and order and am on my way home within 15mins. Service is always super friendly, they've even started to recognise my face haha. Curry's are always rich, spicy and full of plenty of tender meats. Naan is springy and flavourful just like it should be. My last order was late on a friday even and they had run out of lamb for the curries. Never fear, the lovely chef whipped me up a special (once he'd notified me of course) and I couldn't have been happier :)
The best chicken tikka , chef very helpful , came out to check how I will like my dish , and tried his best to accommodate me. 10/10 :-).The best Indian food in Melbourne.
Spice Treasure never disappoints and in fact the Dal Tadka is the best I've ever enjoyed. The makhani is a firm favourite, and their garlic naan is to die for. Always excellent and generous portions.
Indian food at its best.. Owners are very friendly.. Ask them for the daily specials and you wont regret it at all..
Chilly Chicken gives you a perfect taste of Indo-Chinese food..
Love it!!
Excellent meal, great serving size. The schezuan chicken was super spicy but tasted great! Delivery took about 1 hour, but they did say it would take a while.
I have ordered takeaways from this restaurant around 6 times now and I have been impressed more every single time. Definitely the best chicken biriyani I have had in town. I bet you won't find more than 3 pieces of meat in a biriyani in other restaurant but here its a perfect mix of rice and chicken pieces.
My partner is addicted to Chole bhature. The taste is consistent every single time. Try the Methi(fenugreek) paneer and the egg curry if you are looking to explore new flavors.
Tip: Roti or Naan ordered as takeaway at any restaurant goes soggy. So I would recommend to try the items at the restaurant first where the food is served hot and fresh.
i regularly order food from this restaurant. the food is amazing, mouth watering
i loved the cheese chilly , butter chicken from my last order.also Butter naan are best from this restaurant because they make thin and crispy. loved it. and food got delivered before estimated time so overall satisfied with the service. will recommend this if you are after inexpensive and best.
Simply the best Indian curry cuisine in the town. In terms of food choices I will call myself a connoisseur and am glad how this rising star takes the standard, quality and flavours of curry cooking to a new level. All this topped up with a very genuine host and staff. I would highly recommend this value eatery to anyone who wants to challenge their food buds without breaking the bank. Gordon
This was great. Don't be put off by fluorescent lights, formica tables and big TV screen- although for a romantic dinner you might want to use the take away service(!) But the food here is extraordinary. Best we've had in any kind of Indian restaurant. Every dish unique, interesting and delicious. Spices you could really taste. We ordered 3 mains between 2 people, with rice and naan, and had to take some home. We will be back with the kids (you can order your meals mild/medium or spicy).
Best indian food in Melbourne.. I have had takeout here three times now and each time has been the best indian food I've ever eaten.
Not only is the food AMAZING, the owner or head chef or whoever he is is equally as awesome. I ordered delivery the other night and the waitress said it would be 75 minutes and being hungry, I cancelled my order and hung up. I rang back maybe ten minutes later and ordered for pick up, she said it would be ready in 20.
I wandered down to pick it up and the owner/chef/whatever he is, was very sweet and he kept apologising for the wait time had I got it delivered, it was a saturday night so I had absolutely no problem with it, I was being lazy anyway, regardless, he gave me a free lassi and promised to deliver as quick as he can next time. It was very sweet of him and once again, best saag walla I've ever eaten.
What a treasure...delish food and very friendly service at really good prices. The Fish curry & tadka Dal are both very tasty. Will hopefully be tasting a lot more of this gem.

Excellent food at good prices. Great value.
Consistently good food and service! Love it, thanks!!
A tasty treasure. DEFINITELY one to try. Delivery always before or on time with food consistently delicious. Lots of veg options and every one i have tried has been beyond expectation. Very generous potions - one curry and rice served as three separate meals! Would highly recommend the Malai Kofta.
OMG. We menulogged this place after seeing reviews and it TOTALLY lived up to the hype. The fish curry was amazing. Best Indian food I can remember ever having.
-----17 Mar, 2015-----
Yum. Palak paneer and fish curry were awesome.
So inexpensive and delicious. This little unassuming restaurant opened just down the road from our house, so we thought we'd drop in for a 10pm late dinner. Everything, from the service to the amazing food, is spot on (take note Masala Craft a few doors down). Plus it's really cheap. My partner and I were stuffed for just over $20 FOR THE TWO OF US! This is sure to become a regular!
They've reset the bar on quality, flavour, and attention to detail. We had a home delivery from there last night and every part went above and beyond—simply amazing. Very happy customers!
Seriously Tasty. Amazing. Eat here.
Realising that it had just gone 10pm and we had forgotten to eat we decided to get takeaway. I picked up the menu on the walk home from the bar a few nights ago. I ordered a chickpea curry and a fish curry with breads and rice.
Amazing. I opened the container of rice first and knew that we were off to a good start. I think you can tell a lot about an Indian restaurant from their rice (well - at least identify the bad ones). Fragrant, long, individual grains. Yummy.
The chickpea curry was rich and delicious. The fish curry was a real treat - firm not tough - tender not mushy (there might have been a mix up as I ordered the Goan fish curry but I think I took home the Fish masala but this didn't concern).
I'll be back soon (with $10 veg curries it's hard not to)
Wow!!! We went to this little newly opened restaurant SPICE TREASURE and the name says it all. A real treasure. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a beautiful and most pleasant waitress. We originally walked in to order takeaway but with such a genuine welcome, we decided to eat in. The chef sent us some complimentary entrees even before we ordered our meals, also chilled water was placed on our table without asking for it. We ordered a couple of vegetarian dishes, some naan and roti breads. Everything was as fresh and tasteful, better than any meal we have had anywhere else. The chef came out whilst we were eating and introduced himself and told us he had only opened this business about 8 days ago. The food was amazing!!! After we finished our meals, he personally delivered us a complimentary desert of delicious mango ice cream. It was heaven!!!! We are definitely returning to this little gem. SPICE TREASURE, we will be back. We loved the service, we loved the menu selection, the reasonable pricing and above all, the tastiest and best Indian dishes ever. Well done!!!
This place genuinely IS a treasure. Best Indian for about 5km for my money, always rich and flavoursome and spicy. I have never had a bad dish from these guys. Thank you Spice Treasure for helping me to eat well during the covid years!!

Love the curries here, they're absolutely amazing. The kofta is to die for. Unfortunately the medium curry is always too hot and the naans aren't made very well. They're always very gritty with a powdered charcoal on their surface that makes it feel like you're chewing on sand.
Very very delicious items, very reasonable pricing. The owner absolutely knows what he is doing and what each customer is looking for. Got the best suggestions from him tonight ✌🏼
Give it a try!!
