Very nice place. I see to live in Thornbury and go there for brunch or dessert . Tried it again after a while and the place is still good. There was a very grumpy barista before but lucky he isn’t there anymore . Beautiful cheesecakes and lattes.
Easily the best bakery in Melbourne! Love the small town feel. When you walk through the door, the staff always greets you and makes you feel welcomed. The pastries are amazing... so good you will have to get two! And it's the perfect place to get a Sunday brunch. So glad I found this place
I only had a coffee but it was delicious - perfect time with this cold winter weather. Spotlessly clean and with a lot of tempting cakes which I had to to say no to. Maybe next time. I like the fact that the owner made my coffee.
Lovely family owned business. Lemon tarts and Doughnuts are a fave. Nice spot if you are craving a coffee and cake in the late afternoon / early evening but don't want to deal with the crowd at Melissa's.

On High St, there seems to be a new gimmick coffee shop popping up every day. The Coffee at Tasos is no nonsense good coffee. The cakes there are exceptional and fresh authentic Greek. There are varieties of cakes, the Lemmon tarts are yummy, the atmosphere is intimate, and the staff have been fine, and friendly with me... If you're after a cafe without the pompous arrogance of the emerging "cafe culture", then I recommend this place.
Love this place. Traditional Greek, French and Italian sweets. Love the breakfasts as they are great size and great value. Coffee is consistently great. Has to be my favourite cafe in the northern suburbs!
Not sure why this place was a lot quieter than the other cafes but we decided to give it ago after seeing the delicious cakes in the cabinet! Overall the service, value and coffee was great. I did think my scrambled eggs tasted a little weird...but not off weird just weird tasting. They certainly have beautiful cakes so I'll be back for that at least.
A lovely cafe in Thornbury. A great range of desserts, coffees are great & staff are very helpful & friendly. Plenty of seating available but this place can get busy at times, their desserts are just too good!
Usually go to Melissa for Greek sweets, decided to give Taso's a go. Was pleasantly surprised with the nice sweets that I bought. I even took away some freshly baked American style doughnuts, my guests who came over that day loved them. Will not go to Melissa again
Was served by a young girl who has been working there for a few years now, but have not been served by her before. Extremely friendly and helpful when I had to select a cake from the large range! Coffee was fantastic! Also definitely recommend the Jaffa cake!!

Solid old-school continental cakes. Taso's has a nice collection of what I'd call "continental" cakes. There are French influences like the meringues, Austrian touches with some of the fancy layer cakes, a good collection of Greek baklava sweets -- stylings from all over Europe. There's not much that you'd consider "cutting edge" in terms of pastries, but it's not dowdy either. The interior has a bit of polish, like a middle-class cafe would in Italy. Prices are great -- in the range of $3 per pastry. The only thing that put me off is their selection of biscuits -- and there are a lot of them to choose from -- has to be bought in 500-gram lots. And half a kilo costs $15. I wasn't keen to spend that much for bikkies, so I was shut out of tasting them.
I like eye candy with pastries when possible. Taso's had a lot of good-looking pastries with cute shapes. I'm not much for meringue, but the brown rounded mound of whipped egg whites on their meringue tart was so captivating I had to take a bite. My eye was also drawn to this circular, chocolate topped burger of a biscuit that's like an eclair with the shape of a cookie. The flat, snail-curled baklava slice that I had was a bit soggy and heavier on the phyllo than on the nuts, but it was still a tasty bargain for $3.20.
Tasks is a Thornbury institution that has been here for years and will, most likely, outlive other cafés in the area. Why so? The coffee is excellent. The food consists of old standards that are superb too. The prices are a good deal cheaper than it's rivals. And, it is a family business if several generations that cares for its customers and the community to which, unlike other passing through businesses it is firmly rooted.
Loved it. I use to go here everrrry single weekend, We just use to get bacon and eggs with toast was a huge serving and only $7.50 after that they changed the way the eggs were cooked and the toast so we just ended up not going again. However the coffee is usually great and I love the custard donuts if they have them YUM! the deserts are really well made usually.
The cakes are wonderful. I feel like part of the family. Coffee is great & now they're licensed!!

Great Cakes. Grab all our cakes from this place for all our functions and more importantly all our kids bithdays etc. Never been disappointed once. Met every request my kids have come up with on their cake..Great service great cakes really friendly staff ....
Coffee is always fine. Not amazing but not bad. I bought the chocolate Jaffa cake for my work afternoon tea and it was amazing. All my colleagues loved it! Will definitely buy a cake from here again. Not my kind of atmosphere though. I much prefer the cool and relaxed vibe of lowlands, brother Alec or northern soul.
I really like it - good food, boggling array if sweets and great work vibe - love doing my writing in there.
Cake, glorious cake. If the earthly delights of the individual cakes in the window that keep tempting me back, then the knowledge that they have the best chocolate mud cakes keeps me stationary in the cool surroundings with the pleasant staff chat with me.
