Review New York Minute - Thornbury

Newly opened store located in Northcote, cojoined with That's Allotta Donuts. Friendly staff and convenient parking on side street and shopping mall carpark behind. What we got -fried chicken burger - beef burger - v2 goodness burger vegan Very spacious and clean store. Burgers were delicious and flavoursome. Definitely recommend the chicken burger 🍔

We had a great time here - Jimmy really looked after us. Really great service here, very kind, good food. Will come again!

Ordered through Uber and order came with a side missing. All of the beef patties were very undercooked and inedible. Soggy buns due to way too much sauce. Tried calling the store but the number provided had been disconnected! Horrible experience altogether.

Ordered from here for the first time tonight and it was such a good experience! The girl at the counter was so lovely and helped me out heaps using the self order kiosk. Plus, food was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend - 10/10 !!

Guys! You're chips, where'd they go! You had the best chips in all Melbourne, what happened? Did you change owners, the chips were so good. Good burgers, but the chips need to go back to the golden age. They're not as good, (BRING THEM BACK, BRING THEM BACK, BRING THEM BACK...)

Loaded fries were an absolute disgrace. Over-seasoned, burnt bacon, cheese sauce absolutely no flavour. And I have uncontrollable gas this morning. Shocking.

The Hudson Valley Vegan burger was nice but I think it was a bit dry not sure if the bun was vegan as it looked like the 1's on the non vegan burgers.<br/><br/>The toilet for customers was poor as a unisex toilet seat was up and u could see yellow stains so might of been awhile since cleaned<br/>also the seat moved when you sat in it. Next time will try another franchise.<br/>

I have had many burgers, many but this place was an incredible surprise from that initial bite sending me into bliss. The impeccable quality, generous quantity and the need to price it fairly makes NYM a serious contender capable of giving any other burger joint a run for their money. Highly recommend the southern beef burger. This place has become a regular favorite of ours, looking forward to many delicious visits :)

It’s a 1 but I’d give it zero if I could. Weird little shopping strip this one. It looks weird passing by. It is weird on the ground. I wanted a coffee and aimed to get one from New York Minute. It was a breezy afternoon but I could still detect the smell of rancid fat from quite some distance from the shop. I’m not joking. Despite the breeze the unhappy aroma still hung heavy in the air. I gulped. I approached with trepidation and noted that the offending smell was unsurprisingly even more pronounced inside the cafe. I asked politely for a coffee but received the not unhappy news that the coffee machine had broken down and no coffee could therefore be made. So, my visit was completely wasted. But, it’s not all bad, I reckon. This is not a well run operation on what I saw today. We’re all familiar with that expression “dodged a bullet”.

Burger was dry and tasteless , I couldn’t finish it. Chips were good. With the amount of burgers choices out there it will be a very unlikely return. Very disappointing <br/>

No effort whatsoever. Dry and stale buns, dry, flavourless patty (frozen maybe?) and rubbish service. The New York burger is basically a dryer and less tasty version of a Big Mac and the pulled pork ‘roll’ came out on a dry and stale burger bun. Ended up eating the filling and pushing the bun to the side. <br/><br/>Shakes were tasty but it ends there.

Dry bun, hardly any filling, flavorless chicken, and sugary sauce. Definitely not worth the price for something that seems like it's been thrown together with little effort and no fresh ingredients.

As you can see from the front page photo the buns are very ordinary stale things that really ruin the burger experience. Got the wagyu burger. Tasted pretty average. So average in fact as I was royally hungover and still it tasted bad. My husband and kids agreed. Oh and the chips were so soggy and nasty that we didn't eat any of them. Majorly disappointed.

Didn't like it at all. :( the team from work ate here for lunch and unfortunately the buns were dry and the burger patties were bland. The chips seemed stale and fried in old oil. The only thing that saved the burger was the Tabasco we added

New York Minute's vegan burger is nothing fancy and thats what I love about it. It tastes like a burger I woule make at home. Well priced and super filling!

We were on babysitting duty Saturday night were just around the corner from the shops that housed New York minute. 50% of us (me) felt like a burger while the other 50% felt like a pizza next door. I ordered takeaway here first and was told 10 minutes for my burger to arrive. Ducked next door to the pizza place that does really quick 90 second pizzas and told them I didn't need them to start the pizza for 10 minutes figuring by the time my burger was done and paid for the pizza would be ready. If only New York minute were true to their word this story would have had a happy ending. <br/><br/>I knew there was a problem when my pizza was delivered to me from the pizza shop next door, by a friendly staff member from over there. They gave me my pizza bang on time but my burger order was nowhere to be seen. Probably a good 5 minutes of further waiting while uber eats drivers came and went with their orders, then the burger was ready but they had run out of chips to go with it so had to put fresh ones on... meanwhile Kelisi's pizza is getting cold as was my burger sitting on the bench waiting for its chip pairing. Eventually it was all done and handed to me. No apologies.<br/><br/>The store had only one group other than me and yes a few uber eats deliveries but surely not enough to warrant 15-20 minutes of waiting time. <br/><br/>Pizza required a reheat at home and burger was on the cool side but I ate it. I chose the New York burger which was actually pretty tasty despite all the waiting around. <br/><br/>Perhaps I over complicated it all but wasn't happy regardless.

Inconsistent .... hence why Maccas's SOP is still the best in the world, NOT their Burgers okay .....<br/><br/>Part of the chain of NY Minute Burger ... is this the first store?<br/><br/>New York skyline theme, Black & White tiles, simple set up and cozy. <br/><br/>The main attraction; Wall Street Eye-Fillet Burger; the fillet was thin and dry, over-cooked, not enough Smoky BBQ sauce and the Bun fell apart. <br/>Side attraction; well-season, fried chunky chips.<br/><br/>Given the benefit of the doubt at 2.5/5, hopefully better next time. Place is set out well, with a good theme and good customer service. However the quality of food seems to not be there, the ingredients seem cheap and the burger is held up by the delicious sauce.

I have been to NYM a few times now. I enjoy the veggie burger, however friends who ordered beef did not enjoy their burger as much saying it lacked flavor and was rather sloppy. I will probably return for the veggie burger as it was light and the pattie seemed fresh. Fries were crunchy and well salted :) whole meal extremely fresh. I recommend the springtime veggie burger and my partner Andrew Miceli recommends the New Jersey.

Unfortunately I can't review the food as our Deliveroo order tonight wasn't very successful. We watched in despair as our rider headed off in the wrong direction with our food thx to the very smart Deliveroo app, once he eventually came our way he advised the restaurant told him to deliver another order first. Unfortunate result being our burgers were stone cold and were thrown straight in the bin. Probably wouldn't try again as we order frequently from Deliveroo and have never had this issue before. Now I'm hungry :(

The burger was nothing special, it wasn't bad, it wasn't great, i don't think the patties are thick enough really & the bun seemed like wholemeal. I would've preferred soft white but was not given a choice, but at least they're reasonably priced. Must admit i didn't have the tomato relish because i tend to get heartburn from too much tomato so maybe i missed out on something special? <br/>        i probably sound like an old fart saying this, but i asked them to turn the music down, Backstreet Boys is not what i would call good background music for a burger joint, whatever the music is it should not be so loud you can't have a conversation without yelling.

Not my first visit to this particular franchise but i must admit this is definitely my best. The service was exquisite and the burgers were even better. I recommend that everyone should give the burgers a go. <br/>PS, <br/>the chips were amazing.

Can't get enough of this restaurant, highly recommend eating in store but the delivery system through Uber eats is just as good. If you're in the area and have the chance to, drop in and try a burger 😋😋😋

Just left this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. The service was great and the food was well above the standard of surrounding burger places. Can't wait to come back!

My partner and I ordered this via deliveroo and we were waiting 40 minutes before we called them and asked them why we were still waiting. There was a confusion between deliveroo and the company between someone else's order and ours, but we had to wait a further 30 minutes for the order to get delivered. When it eventually got delivered we were really disappointed with having to wait so long for such poor quality food. My partners burger apparently tasted far too meaty, completely overpowering anything else in the burger and my bun was dry and quite tasteless. The chips were nice, but I don't think we'll come back here.

Absolute rubbish. one of the worst burgers I've ever had. Took a few bites then realised I could of gotten a better burger at McDonalds. Do not go here

Order through Uber eats. It took an hour even though we live 1.7km away. Disappointing given how long we waited. The food was luke warm. My son really wanted to order from here and it wasn't worth the price or wait. There's better burgers in the hood. Much sadness.

Yum! I'm not normally a burger person but I decided I was in a burger mood today. I ordered their vegan burger and got a side of chips as well (home delivery). The burger was so delicious, filling and satisfying that I didn't even need the chips! Great Burger, great chips, would definitely order again! I'm glad I was in a burger mood today!

WoW! what a culinary experience! <br/>I have quite specific dietary requirements being vegetarian which often leaves me with little to no choices at most burger places. But at NYM i was offered 2 styles of burgers which could be catered to my needs! Even better than the range of burgers was the actual quality of them, delicious! <br/>THe staff were also great!

Despite the fact that today we went the toilet was broken , me and my husband still rate the burger as 4. <br/>We've tried many burger place but the burger here is a real deal , my fav is the Pilly cheesy steak , the steak is juicy and tasty . And the size of the New York burger is surprisingly big ! Fries is yum too . Hubby says it tastes like made by freshly cut potato . I have no idea about that but it's pretty good anyway .<br/>Love the food , but I do hope you guys get the toilet fix asap, I hope it's not too much for customer ask to wash hand after a meal ? I feel really stressed that we need to run to the Neighber hood to borrow their toilet . Enough for the toilet , the burger is delicious .

I found the customer service excellent and I didn't have to wait very long for a quality burgeNew York burger I found the Oreo milkshake so so good. The staff at New York Minute where i had my burger they where very helpful with what I order and it was the best burger place in Melbourne and as I was leaving New York Minute the staff said have a nice day and I replied have a nice day thanks so much New York Minute I will be back for more and I recommend New York Minute to all my mates

Decided to try the vegan burger and was not disappointed, the patty was light but filling and the sweet potato chips made a nice addition to my meal. Walked away from the restaurant feeling awesome! Love it!

Great food and excellent service! the pulled pork roll was great and the chips were golden brown and fluffy on the inside, would recommend to everyone :)

Maybe I caught them on an off night, and it is only one of many NYM locations, but for all the hype that people give it, I expected more. <br/>Service was good, but rating based on the burger... Came in and visited New York Minute Thornbury. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, I had a Wagyu burger and my partner had a Southern Beef burger, both were absolutely amazing and loved the sweet potato chips with sweet chilli aioli sauce. Only piece of criticism was the music was really low and could hear everyone's conversations, otherwise no complaints.<br/>

Wow. Finally had a chance to try this place out, and I was simply amazed with the service and the how quickly the food arrived. Got the New Jersey and it was the best burger I've ever had!! Will definitely be coming back 👍👍

As we know, gourmet burger places are all the rage. But looking back, with only a few exceptions, i've been really disappointed when visiting these places. New York Minute did nothing to restore my faith sadly. The food just wasn't that good.

I was drawn in by the terrible reviews. "Pfft - it can't be that bad!" But they were right. <br/><br/>The store bought patty, the lack of filling, soggy chips (tasty! But soggy). <br/><br/>I don't want to heap the scorn even higher on this place, but jeez! What are they thinking when places like Chew, Ribs n Burgers, Kustom are just down the road? It's a real mystery.

Fast and quick service, very good price for burgers however nothing really amazing. Burger was ok but nothing to rave about. Sweet potato fries were also way too salty.

I'm sorry but the burgers were the worst we've had for a long time. The Hell's Kitchen chilli beef burger was doused in masses and masses of hot sauce, killing all other potential flavours. We regularly enjoy food with a high spice level but this burger was so hot, it was inedible. The New Jersey burger toppings had good flavour, but something about the patties wasn't right. They tasted and had the consistency of Homebrand prepacked burgers. This dinner made me quite ill. Won't return.

Great tastes. The New Yorker Burger is like a Big Mac but done right. Shakes are amazing. Fries are great. Only lost points because of a lack of a high chair for little kids and the burger buns are a bit lacking.

Great customer service and set up in store the broadway grilled chicken was okay, but the pulled pork Harlem roll was horrendous I had to take the pork out it was dripping wet soaking my bun and tasted like dish water and the cheese tasted like plastic.

The staff were friendly and the chocolate ripple milkshake was tasty but the buck stops here. One of the poorest burgers ive had in a long time. The beef is low quality and the cheese tasted cheap in there NY burger. Their chips weren't even crunchy.

The fit out is excellent. The staff are excellent. The chips are excellent. Shakes - excellent. The love and care put into the burgers construction - excellent. The Wagyu meat patty - absolute garbage (I chose The Rockefeller Wagyu). Reminded me (sorry guys) of the one and only time I purchased and tried a frozen microwave burger from Coles - Not really any beef taste at all and the consistancy of the patty was waaaaaaay too dense. Rock hard almost. If you are getting meat fresh daily then it is either not great meat for a burger - or you are doing something to mess it up :-( ......saying this, I will be back, maybe it was just 'teething problems'. I'm looking forward to a soft, juicy meat patty that is closer to pink in the middle - rather than grey......

after today now being my second visit to NYM thornbury, I found it necessary to emplore just how amazing the brisket burger was. <br/><br/>If I had known it was so good, I would have come hungrier and at least ordered 2 burgers!! <br/><br/>To put simply, everything was on point! the bun, the meat, pickles, spinach and sauces, spot on! <br/>but also the chips too! they were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!<br/>I've had a lot of burgers around Melbourne, but this place is a game changer for me. <br/><br/>will definitely be back 🤗🤗🤗 <br/>

Had the wall street eye fillet burger. More like minute steak burger. That being said, the burger was tastey, and the meat was cooked nicely. The chipa could have done with a bit longer cooking, as they were underdone in a rubbery manner. I'll probably come back and try a different burger though, as they are juat around the corner from home.

Three of us went there for dinner tonight. Spotlessly clean inside with very customer focussed staff. Had the pulled pork burger - great sauce, lovely salad, pork just a little luke warm. Chicken snitzel burger was tasty. New York mini was just the right size with the patty cooked medium and perfectly moist. Sweet potato fries about 30<br/>Seconds over cooked. Normal fries crisp and well seasoned. The buns in all the burgers were light and nicely toasted.

Really really friendly and helpful staff. However burgers are not very good, the are very reasonably priced but not very nice, too oily and nothing amazing about them.

The staff at this burger joint are attentive and energetic, great customer service! Our burgers came out quickly and the great thing about them is they weren't overly filled or overly greasy. I would definitely come back to try the other burgers because mine rocked! A good take away option in the area I reckon!

Staff were friendly, and the inside fit out was ok. Although a booth or some more intimate spaces away from the drafty door would help. Guys. You're up against stiff competition in the burger market. Fix those patties! They are bland, thin, and over processed. I feel that, had those patties been of a decent quality, maybe people will be more attracted to NYM, rather than the half dozen other burger joints within minutes drive. The fit out of the shop provides a classy feel, accommodated with how clean the shop was, Already deserves a big tick in my books. I Wasn't expecting to be as warmly greeted by the young girls as I was as, because the shop was full and they were really busy. Super friendly, Super helpful. The front signage here is much more exciting than anything inside. the interior is a bit too minimal there's not much going on.<br/>We decided to try this place out as it had some good PR floating around the internet. The burgers are all made with onion in them so i cant speak for those. Anyone allergic or intolerant to onion should stay away from the beef burgers. Its a shame because they had a couple interesting sounding choices.<br/>So i had the pulled pork burger, it was nice enough but nothing I'd rave about or go out of my way to eat again. It was large and a bit sickly sweet.<br/>There is one thing here definitely worth going back for and thats their choc shakes, malty like milo...very nice.<br/>The staff are nice and friendly enough.

Finally made it down to my new local burger restaurant with a couple of friends. I got the Manhattan burger which melted in my mouth and the chips Wow!! so crunchy and yum. The service was on point staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Can't wait for my next visit.

Walked into New York Minute Thornbury today and felt a great aura, was greeted warmly, guided through the menu and most importantly the food was amazing. Must try the Eye Fillet burger, literally melted in my mouth, the sweet potato chips were hands down the best i've had anywhere. Their recommendation of the special sauce was on point!<br/>Very tasty and fresh! Will be back again to explore the rest of the menu!

We had a lunch here earlier today and can't fault it at all. <br/>After hearing so much about New York Minute and their award winning burger, my choice was easy. I went for the 'New York Minute' burger, and while it is essentially a posh Big Mac, it was far far superior. Incredibly tasty and the salad was almost seemingly healthy. I would rate it in my 'Top 10' burgers in Melbourne for sure! It was a shame it was just a little bit too big for me to finish.<br/><br/>The chips as well! What to say about them! The regular chips were golden, crisp and fluffy on the inside, while the sweet potato ones were too (not sure how they do it, as most places the sweet potato fries are a soggy affair). My wife had a Milo milkshake too, which she couldn't stop talking about all afternoon!<br/><br/>In all, staff friendly, portion sizes very generous, and very tasty. Will definitely be back to try their other burgers!

Very disappointing. The chips were soggy like they'd been sitting there for 20 minutes even though I was there to pick them up as soon as they came out - inedible. The roll is thick and hard, the patties taste like the cheap patties you get down at Coles... It tasted and looked like something you'd buy down at the local footy oval, although not horrendous, I'm paying $15 not $4 and expected something better than I can do at home. Never again - waste of money

Was expecting big things from this franchise as the signage was up months in advance before the place actually opened up. Geeze guys. <br/>Finally opened and...I was utterly disappointed! Tasted like those frozen beef patties from Coles. There wasn't enough seasoning and was lacking the full beef flavour. Had to add tomato sauce on every bite. Might as well go to Maccas and grab a $3 cheeseburger! <br/>Won't becoming back cheers.

Second visit. Beef burger. Amazingly average. That's turned me off a third try...<br/><br/>Great quality bread, really excellent brisket in the burger I had and the sauce was the hero. Good consistency and The right amount of spice.
