Review Thornleigh Curry House - Thornleigh

We ordered the banquet, the appetisers were pretty nice, and the main was two meat curries of your choice and one vegetarian curry of your choice; the curries are refillable so you won’t go home hungry. Would recommend.

This is our go-to restaurant for Indian food and we're so glad we have such a great place so close to us. We get take-away or eat in once a week and the food is sensational. The service is great and the staff are really lovely too. We've eaten at many other Indian restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne but rarely do we find any food that comes close to being as good at we have at the Thornleigh Curry House.

Fantastic Indian food! The curries have a depth of flavour that other restaurants simply don't have. For example, the butter chicken has a subtle smoky tandoori chicken flavour. That combined with the perfectly balanced spicy-sweet sauce creates something quite exquisite.

Pleasant and clean environment. Good and tasty food. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed each and every dish. Been there few times and tried out the different dishes each time. If you are not used to hot food, let the waiters know beforehand. if you are a Bariyani lover- try the chicken or mutton Bariyani. All in all its a place with amazing mouth watering food.

The best Indian meal in years. Lovely wait staff too. Great atmosphere. Now on our list of places to come back to next time we are in Sydney.

Lots of good reviews for dine in. We had home delivery and were underwhelmed. Roti was like cardboard and $3.50 each. Overall most main dishes were flavoursome but the 2 starters and accompanying bread were very disappointing.

Genuinely delicious (and I must add well presented) authentic Indian food. One of the better restaurants in northwest Sydney. And last but not least, ambiance of restaurant is good (lots of sunlight and smells clean). Must visit (choice for celiac as well).

Absolutely beautiful - the food & the staff are excellent. We have had nothing but wonderful visits and will continue to support such a great local business. Highly recommend the special banquet. The onion bhajee and butter chicken are particularly delish!

Very very very good Indian. We often get takeaway from here and very occasionally dine in.

The atmosphere inside is great. Very intoxicating and relaxing. Good service too.

The actual meals are amazing. Super tasty. What more can I say. It all just works, and I've found it hard to beat.

Only issue is we had major issues with our last order, with really oily dishes and a very different vegetable dish than what we ordered. I suspect this was a one off. I will update when we have eaten here again.

Good food but really small portions for the price you pay. Great dining experience and clean restaurant. Would recommend for a quiet yet expensive meal.

Always friendly service and good curry. The curry is never watered down, unlike some other Indian restaurants. If they run out of certain curry, they would just tell you. Some other places just water it down. Big thumbs up for their honesty! This is one of two Indian restaurants I go to in Sydney.

Delicious Currys and friendly staff. Personally I don't like the look of, or location of the restaurant, but we are happy to order takeaway. Never had anything that we haven't enjoyed. Make sure you get the chicken tikka for entree.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
A recent masterclass with Peter Kuruvita reminded me about Sunil’s Spice Centre in Thornleigh. This local gem supports more than just Sri Lankan Australians - the packed shelves also cater to the needs of Thornleigh’s Indian community. While the suburb has seen some demographic shifts in recent years, India still ranks in the top three birthplaces for locals born somewhere other than our shores. This train of thought is what led me to Thornleigh Curry House. I was particularly interested to see if the suburb’s Indian population would mean a higher standard of curry as it does in areas like Harris Park. Thornleigh Curry House is located in a dated and ugly business park that has been cheaply constructed with all architectural flourishes spared. The interior reminds me of a suburban Chinese restaurant, like the ones that sit above and on one side of it, with folded white cloth serviettes and bright red vinyl chairs. From the seventies-style wooden bar hutch, lined with hanging glasses, we - perhaps optimistically - opt for...

Thornleigh Curry House closed down for a short period of time a few months ago and then re-opened with new owners. What I like about this restaurant is that you can order the banquet with a minimum of 2 people. Most Indian restaurants require a minimum of 4 people. For two people we chose the $31.90/person banquet which came with mix entree, choice of 3 mains (you can choose anything from the a la carte menu), dhal, roti, naan, rice, 4 side dishes and gulab jamun in ice cream. Since we had a kid dining with us, they wanted us to order another dish for the kid although, if the kid is not a big eater, an extra piece of naan would have been enough but I don't think the restaurant would have been too happy with that. We ended up ordering the mix platter for the kid.

The service was very efficient and polite. They brought out bottles of water every time we ran out. The food came out quickly eventhough the restaurant was full and there was a group of 20 people there.

The mix entree was delicious and a good size. The samosa pastry was light and very crispy. We chose butter chicken, vegetable Korma and Lamb Rogan Josh for the mains plus the dhal. All mains were delicious. The curries were mild as stated which is the reason we chose them so that the child could eat it. The breads, I felt was a little burnt (black around the edges and black spots). I prefer my rotis less burnt (brown spots would be preferable) but I'm sure some people prefer it this was. Gulab Jamun is my favourite Indian dessert so i was very happy that I got that.

Overall the price was reasonable as we could use the Entertainment Book. There's lots of parking downstairs but by 7pm on Saturdays it could get busy.

Visited this restaurant couple of times during my Sydney trips. With the limited options in this area especially for dinner, this is a decent find for Indian taste buds. The veg items are good especially hara bhara kabab & kaḍhai paneer. Value for money is good too.

Lovely restaurant and very nice front of house but the food was cold, full of heat and no flavour. Raita was mostly water, vindaloo was tasteless, biryani boring, paratha soaked in oil. We should have realised something was wrong when there was no aroma of spices coming from the kitchen. Wont be going back. Most disappointing indian meal I;ve ever eaten. Also, totally overpriced.

Great service, yummy food, I'll be back for sure!

Decent Indian. Best in the area for both take away & dining. Friendly staff & service. Food isn't the best I've had but dependable & satisfying

Mixed entree is a solid start (and they come out quick) but mains can be a little slow when it's full. Good (but not great) curries, we return as its the best we know of in the area.
